Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

An evening of romance inspired by the infamous date labelled as Valentine’s Day. Those loving emotions were useful for those capable of feeding off those energies. Ultimately, Aliana found Valentine’s Day as the magnum opus of the year. People searched for romance, to fulfill those deepest desires while others wished for something more... physical. Those were Aliana’s hopes, her intentions motivated by her personal enjoyments and those manifested by her abilities.
[break][break]
The species renowned as sirens feasted on interactions with others and there were methods to gain greater energy. Hence her reasons to sign up for the blind date for the benefits she would receive throughout the engagement. Should she fail to receive a fling? While those romantic energies being aimed towards her would kickstart vitality. The entire situation was a winning one, therefore, Aliana possessed every reason to sign herself up.
[break][break]
Hours prior to the blind date, Aliana poured time into her appearance. She desired to become the ravishing, dark-haired woman who everybody’s eyes locked upon. Her vivacious curves, slender, yet, lean physique and natural beauty would undoubtedly carry her far, however, her envisionments of grandeur were unlikely. People would probably glance over from the sounds of movement, but anything greater was impossible.
[break][break]
The dark-haired woman tugged on a red dress with a slit that revealed her elegant legs when she walked and showed some subtle cleavage. Tugged over her shoulders was a black cardigan which reached down to merely her waist. Her long locks were brushed back, untangled by the bristles as tidied it. Pieces from the front were grabbed, braided apart before being braided together down the back. The style was simple, but allowed her long locks to remain loose while appearing tidy.
[break][break]
Once satisfied with her hair, Aliana began accomplishing the task of highlighting her face with makeup. Concealer, blush, subtle eyeshadow, masquera among other things were applied. When completed, she gave herself a content smile in the mirror before grabbing a pair of black high-heel shoes and black purse and leaving for the event. She entered her car, heading to the restaurant mentioned at the event’s sign up. As she closed in, she gazed at the restaurant chosen for the Valentine’s Day event.
[break][break]
She parked her vehicle before striding towards the restaurant. There was confidence in her steps as she entered, approaching the small table to sign in before entering the main area. Her red eyes glanced around, admiring the decorum before heading to search for her nametag on her respective table. She glanced over the couples around her, enjoying the decorations on the table. Gradually, she began pinpointing her table for her date.
[break][break]
[ You may say Aliana is already sitting down or say she sat down in your post if you need to~! ]
Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
The reaper was rather reluctant on participating in this event primarily due to the fact that he, well, didn't really get along with people all that well. Was that his fault? Maybe so, but he didn't mean it either. It was just who he was really and he couldn't help it much. He had long ago since given up on trying to interact with people, simply distancing himself away from those he was sure wouldn't really understand or...stand him. Why had he allowed himself to be convinced to attend the one place he knew he wouldn't be welcomed at? He knew people would want to avoid him, to which he had the sinking feeling that he would just make the whole evening bad for whomever had been chosen for him, and there were just so many things that he would unintentionally cause.
Did this make him a pessimistic? Most likely. However, he had found himself donning something nice enough to wear, much to the help of his familiar and adopted son, and arrived early to the venue just for the sake of not deterring other people who would arrive. At least he was considerate. He was glad, he supposed that is, when his table had been moved from the middle of the restaurant to more....in the corner away from the other patrons. Well, he probably should have been offended by that but he just couldn't feel that way. At least that way he wouldn't really disturb the other people there as they enjoyed their...dates.
He sat at the table minding his own business as he allowed himself to just be unnoticed by people as time passed by and eventually people for the event began to show up. He had ordered a glass of wine as well as water ages ago for himself, merely taking a simple sip from just one of the glasses and not touching it since then as he observed people silently from where he was seated at. It didn't take too long until a woman in a slit dress had begun approaching the table, his head tilting slightly as his piercing, silver eyes trained on her almost like a predator would to its prey. Not that he thought of her as such, it was just...habit. Perhaps he should stand to greet her, but he also didn't want to shake hands either or..was he supposed to? Goodness, it had definitely been several hundred years since he last dated. What were the norms in dating anyway now?
The reaper stood up though once he was sure the woman had come to the correct table, no expression showing on his face as he just gave her a small nod in greeting before gesturing for her to take a seat. Maybe he should have pulled out her chair but...again he wasn't really all that...up to par in the dating world. He felt awkward enough, despite not showing it, being here in the first place and he was sure things wouldn't go all that well for the woman. Mainly because of his fear inducement and the fact that their table placement had been moved away from the other patrons. Well, he'd go smack around a certain person who had talked him into doing this later. Or if he saw that person first before the night was over. "You look lovely." He spoke up, his voice low and quiet as he sat back down. He had already decided he wasn't really going to put forth much effort, but again that might have been his pessimistic self speaking anyway.

There was a sway to Aliana’s hips as she wandered through the tables, red eyes searching. Each step carried her through the groupings of tables where dates flirted with their respective partners. A brow raised the further the dark-haired woman strode through the restaurant. Was there a mistake? Tables were being taken, but as she navigated the main area, she failed to discover her name tag. Was something spelt wrong? Or was there a fluke during registration? The young siren was not concerned if she ended up not attending the date; there were plenty of desperate people on Valentine’s Day.
[break][break]
As she traversed the maze of tables, her red eyes noticed a distant table. It was shoved away in the corner, a man sitting quietly by his lonesome. Merely returning his gaze caused her to stiffen slightly, her nerves insisting danger… oddly, it was attractive. She remained stationary for a few moments as she allowed her RCMP background to remind her fear could be easily coped with. The red-eyed woman took long strides, allowing her hips to sway as she moved confidently towards the table. Fear attempted to suffocate her, however, the siren’s extreme bravery allowed her to carry through.
[break][break]
She closed the distance between herself and the mysterious man. As she approached, her red eyes sniped a glance of the name tag near the open chair. Written on the paper card was her name, ‘Aliana La Rosa’, confirming the location was her table and the man her date. The sounds of rustling reached her ears as she closed the distance, the man standing from his seat. Her red eyes analyzed her appearance noticed his medium length black locks, striking silver eyes and fairly tall physique. Similar to the other participants, he was well-dressed.
[break][break]
He matched the other gentlemen in the area, making the fear pestering her mind peculiar. Despite the fear, the siren managed to favour the stranger with a cheerful smile. She pulled out her chair, briefly admiring the man's handsome appearance through the emotions flooding her mind. As she prepared to sit, Aliana's ears detected the compliment. The smile broadened as the dark-haired woman threw a portion of her long hair back.
[break][break]
"Why thank you, Mr?" She paused, awaiting a name. "May I say, you're pretty dashing."
[break][break]
Moments later, she settled back into her chair, adjusting until comfortable. The siren's red eyes flitted between the mysterious man and the bouquet of flowers placed in a crystal vase. There was something cliche about the entire scene, however, Aliana hardly noticed. She placed her purse onto her lap while watching her attractive date, slowly adjusting to the frightening atmosphere created by her mystery man.
Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
At her thanks and then pause for his name he tilted his head to the side by a slight degree. "You can call me Kenji." He spoke quietly, giving her a small nod in acknowledgement as well. He observed her as she sat down and got herself comfortable in the chair, silent as his silver eyes trained on the woman before him. Gods it had been too long since he had been on an actual date, honestly it had been about the period when such technologies weren't even in existence. It had to have been before the war started, though then again that probably couldn't have counted as an actual date either.
The reaper was uncomfortable but it didn't show outwardly as he remained rather...stoic per usual. A living statue as he had been called by either his son or familiar on occasion. Probably his familiar really since she was more lively than his son. He turned his attention over to the flowers that sat in a crystal vase for...something. The vibe was it? "These flowers are quite...artificial almost in a way." He mentioned, lifting a hand to lightly gesture towards the vase of flowers. "They would look better not slowly dying I suppose." He added, shrugging slightly before his eyes returned to the woman before him. Right, a name might make things more smooth for the evening. "Is there anything by chance I may call you?" He questioned her, his face still just as expressionless as ever. Was he even capable of having emotions by this point?

A slender smile played across Aliana’s lips the longer she glanced over her date for the evening. Danger lurked in the air and furthermore the man held a mysterious vibe. The lack of expression accompanied by the fear inducing aura he radiated manifested an interesting impression. The space between them and the other dates only fed into those beliefs. At least she received someone interesting, however, Aliana wondered if this man would be a no fun Freddy. She prayed the silver-haired man would enjoy their interaction enough to indulge her. Alas, only time would tell whether she would succeed.
[break][break]
People had a tendency to want different things and on Valentine’s Day, some searched for long-lasting love while others sought something less binding. Nonetheless, she would play the game of hearts so she could devour the energy necessary. A name was provided, something unique and intriguing, which meant playing her part. She needed to appear more interested in these love affairs than she truly was. With a feigned grin of innocence and a batting of her eyelashes, she leaned back. Her hand raised to her chin, a finger softly touching her cheek as she regarded the mysterious man. She provided a thoughtful expression to being given his name.
[break][break]
“Kenji,” she tasted the name, saying it slowly to savour each letter. “That is an interesting name. Can I ask where you are from?”
[break][break]
Moments later, her lifted hand retreated to her lap. Her posture remained straight as she watched him, red eyes gleaming curiously. When he referenced the flowers, Aliana released a soft hmm from her lips as she glanced over them. The police officers eyes analyzed the flowers, admiring their colour, but seeing his point.
[break][break]
“They probably wanted them to make things more romantic,” she stated the obvious with a grin. “Are you not a fan of roses?
[break][break]
Her eyes flitted back to Kenji, waiting for him to provide an answer to her inquiry. A name was requested, Aliana covering her mouth as she began to giggle. She never did return the favour of a name, did she?
[break][break]
“I guess it is only fair, huh?” She asked playfully. “Aliana, but if you want to give me a pet name, I’m all for it.”
[break][break]
Playfulness mixed with flirtatiousness as she responded to her date of the evening. She hoped for a pleasant response, however, she would not complain. There was plenty of time for Aliana to persuade Kenji into a flirtatious interaction, therefore, she was willing to play patient for now.
Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
Sven was silent as the woman repeated his last name, not that she knew it was his last name anyway. At the question as to where he was from he tilted his head slightly for a moment. Well, that was a rather difficult question to answer. He was quite old, and he wasn't sure if he would even be believed by someone of where he had actually come from. There were so few of them still alive anyway, or...somewhat alive. "I come from...a very far place." He spoke up lowly after debating on the answer to her question. It wasn't exactly a lie, but he wasn't quite sure on how to really tell her of where he had come from.
At the woman's words about the flowers the reaper nodded slightly in acknowledgement to them. Well, he supposed that was true perhaps. Not that he was sure it was really going to...help things. At least in his opinion. "I am just...not sure how flowers could make things more..." He trailed off for a moment, shrugging slightly for a moment. "Romantic." He added after that brief shrug as if he were trying to find the word for it. It wasn't like he was opposed to flowers but...he preferred them on plants or in the ground than in vases.
As he was granted the woman's name he nodded once more, though remained expressionless as she had also given him the option to give her a pet name. Eh...no. "Aliana is a fitting name and you need no other." He responded to her, keeping his eyes trained on her face. He did take noticed of her playfulness along with being flirtatious towards him, no doubt something that was probably appropriate for such a date. He honestly wasn't sure what he expected from the date, nor did he know how it would turn out anyway. Was he even capable of such emotions?
The night was still young he supposed, but still he remained cautious as to what could happen. Not that he'd easily let himself open up to a complete stranger. Either way he was sure he'd leave the woman disappointed perhaps by the end of their date or..even in the middle if he hadn't already. But seeing how she still seemed playful and flirtatious he probably hadn't disappointed her yet. Not that he was sure on how to feel about that. The woman was...attractive enough but again he was staying more withdrawn for the time being.

A chosen date, somebody emotionless and lacked expressiveness, proved to be an intriguing man. Evidently, he was difficult to inspire playfulness and flirtatiousness from. Yet, the situation somewhat amused Aliana as she smiled at the handsome man stationed across from her. Under most circumstances, Aliana could use her popular appearance to persuade people into flings or romantic attitudes with ease. She possessed the definition of magazine beauty with her voluptuous breasts, slender figure and the flawless appearance of her face.
[break][break]
Therefore, a challenge was welcomed by the siren, as long as enough energy was received by the end of the evening. Nothing was wrong with learning to handle difficult individuals who failed to react positively to flirting. Besides, their night had merely begun, leaving plenty of time for Aliana to test her moves. There was hope she could receive a quick fling by the end of her evening, successfully allowing her to be charged for work and other endeavours. The officer maintained a flirtatious glint in her eye as she watched the man.
[break][break]
Enigmatic, it seemed the ultimate word to describe Kenji given the manner he interacted or vaguely provided answers. Almost as though his words could reveal secrets or facts he was unprepared to share. It manifested an excitement for Aliana, prompting her lips to curl into a thin smile at his response to being asked where he originated from.
[break][break]
"Oh? Interesting," she said, grinning at him. "I come from Italy, place of bread sticks and pizza."
[break][break]
A soft laugh escaped her mouth after her light-hearted comment. The dark-haired woman was making a harmless jab in hopes of somewhat amusing her guest. The topic shifted to the gorgeous bouquet of roses, Aliana nodding as the man stated he found they did not enhance the atmosphere. Her opinion was opposite, however, the young woman enjoyed the world of roses and heart-shaped boxes of chocolates.
[break][break]
"Well, at least they are pretty, huh?" Aliana stated.
[break][break]
Her red eyes shifted back towards her handsome face, admiring his appearance. She was disappointed when Kenji decided not to grant her a pet name, however, she refused to allow her date to witness that. A broad smile graced her lips, the dark-haired woman giggling at her date.
[break][break]
"Well ain't that sweet of you," she said happily.
[break][break]
The happiness was feigned successfully, Aliana clearly capable of deception those around her. Sometimes it was necessary considering there could be a more dangerous caliber of fling.
Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
Sven tilted his head to the side slightly as the woman told him of where she was from, which was followed by a soft laugh from her words. "Italy sounds like a nice place." He spoke up, voice low as he kept his silver eyes trained on the woman before him. He nodded slightly at her next words concerning the flowers, not denying her statement. They were pretty at least, but still he figured they would look better from where they actually grew from. Still the man remained rather emotionless as the woman giggled and happily told him that just calling her by her name was...sweet of him. Sweet. Was he really that?
However, he let that thought drift out of his mind as he turned his attention over to a poor server trying to come over to get their orders. Ah, perhaps he should get up to leave for a minute or two...but he was sure the poor server would be fine in just taking their orders and leaving. When the server finally got to their table he glanced over towards the woman, giving her a small nod. "You may place your order first, Aliana." He spoke up, gathering his menu to hand to the frightened server. It wasn't like he really needed to eat but he supposed he'd put on a show of eating something small at least. Maybe a salad or something.

Every word was stated with a friendly connotation as Aliana attempted to gain closeness to her newest acquaintance of the evening. Alas, the phlegmatic state of her date made it difficult to manifest connections... There would be plenty of time to make her advancements towards the silver-haired stranger. Luckily, Kenji possessed some definition of attraction about his appearance. Should her plan be successful without the fruits of romance would register no complaints about getting a mere fling from the situation.
[break][break]
She hoped speaking about personal experiences could inspire her date of the evening to become more comfortable. Nothing more than fruitless banter would occur if she maintained a cold barrier between herself and this man. A benevolent smile stretched across her lips as she observed her precious date. Part of her wondered if he held regular intentions for being here or perhaps some ulterior motives. The police officer merely wished her date lacked a villainous agenda to his upcoming plans, else she would be forced to follow protocols.
[break][break]
A bittersweet, nostalgic grin carved onto Aliana's face as a soft, happy sigh left her lips. She missed Italy at times for the memories she had, however, Canada was the safer choice nowadays.
[break][break]
"It was gorgeous... I miss it sometimes, but not much I can do about it," Aliana agreed. "I'm not leaving Lorsette anytime soon, plus I'm trained for my job here, so..."
[break][break]
The ending of her sentence was punctuated with a slight shrug of her shoulders. Considering she already went about her training in Newfoundland, Aliana found it easier to stay, furthermore, she grew comfortable in the Canadian city. Moments later, their server approached their table. A well-dressed man to match the romantic scene inside the restaurant. Upon his arrival, Kenji offered her the opportunity to order first. The siren was flattered by the gesture, her hand reaching up to lightly touch her chest.
[break][break]
"What a gentleman," she commented happily, hands soon fetching the menu. "Anyways, I was thinking a small steak with a side of salad, please? Oh, and just a glass of water for a drink. Thank you."
[break][break]
Promptly, the waiter's pencil scribbled on the notepad, writing down her order. Quietly, Aliana handed him the menu, which was hastily snatched from her hands; it was obvious the waiter wanted to get away from them. Shortly, he turned his attention onto Kenji, expecting to get his order before retreating back into the kitchen. The man was seemingly frightened and hoping to leave shortly.
Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
Sven listened to her words, nodding a little in acknowledgement to them before she would give her order to the poor server who had probably drawn the short straw in coming over to their table. Once her order was finished it was his turn to order something to eat. Well, he didn't really need to eat but he supposed he could order something...small. "I shall have a salad with a side of some fruit." He spoke up lowly, handing the menu over to the server as they hastily jotted down his order before fleeing the scene to get back to the kitchen. He lowered his silver gaze for a few moments as he reached out to grab his glass of wine and gently swished that and then took a sip from it before lowering it back onto the table where it had been sitting by his own glass of water.
"You obviously must face fearful situations for your line of work if you can stand sitting across from me." He mentioned quietly, lifting his piercing silver gaze towards the woman across from him as he tilted his head to the side slightly. The question now really was what she was in her work hours. Of course he couldn't really reveal what he was because...well, the less people who knew what he did the better. Though it also wasn't really like him to lie either, but he could omit some of the truth at least. He knew the question as to what he did would arrive, but for the time being he was content on staying silent about it. Perhaps let her guess or whatever her mind decided to go with.

The endless amounts of fear being exhibited by the waiter amused Aliana as she quietly observed from her seat. What she discovered as thrilling and enjoyable, another despised. She listened to Kenji's order, a flicker of curiosity crossing her face immediately. The meal ordered by the gentleman involved a lack of anything meat-based, hence, Aliana wondered if perhaps the man was a vegetarian. The notion hardly bothered her, but her assumption could not be taken as fact unless she gathered more information or witness him order multiple times.
[break][break]
For the time being, she would not question the situation. Her primary goal was to gain assistance in being provided energy through intimate affairs. The waiter hastily retreated from their table after receiving Kenji's order. The young woman hoped he would return with her water, however, she would not complain given the thrilling situation. She watched as the silver-haired man swished his wine before taking a sip, meanwhile, the siren contemplated her following question. Alas, Kenji was quicker to ask and proved himself to be observant.
[break][break]
A thin, lip-tight smile stretched across Aliana's face the man connected her reaction to a line of work that involved danger. The man sitting across from her was intelligent given how quickly he made that connection.
[break][break]
"That is right," she began with a smile. "I am an officer with the police force here. So you better be on your best behaviour."
[break][break]
Afterwards, a gentle laugh escaped her lips at her light-hearted teasing. She hoped a little more humour could manifest pleasantness about their situation. She leaned forward slightly, a grin evident on her face.
[break][break]
"Now what about you, Mr. Mysterious? You're pretty observant," Aliana inquired curiously.
[break][break]
Only moments later did their waiter return, hesitantly approaching their table with a single glass of water. He closed in slowly, hastily placing the glass down before retreating in fright again. Who knew the man's thoughts on the situation between them. Their date was not a total disaster, rather, Aliana was handling the fear with surprising grace.
Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
He listened to her words at her being an officer with the police force in the city. Now, that was valuable information at least. However, unfortunately for her he couldn't just reveal what he was. He shifted slightly in his seat, probably the first time since his date for the night arrived, and reached for his glass of water to take a sip from it. Though, before he could really answer her the poor waiter returned with the water for Aliana. His silver eyes followed the waiter's retreating form before his attention moved back towards the woman sitting across from him.
"I'm a collector of various things." He told her, scanning his eyes over her face as he took another sip of his water. It wasn't like he was wrong about it either, he did collect things...like bounties. "What is a respectful officer such as yourself doing at a blind date? I would have assumed you had a significant other already." He mused out, tilted his head to the side slightly as he just allowed his eyes to remain trained on the woman's face.
At least he was courteous enough to not check her out. Then again he wasn't like most people in more than one way. "I do not normally go out much, so I was...persuaded to attend tonight's event." He spoke up after a few moments, no doubt that the woman wondered why he was here as well. He wasn't sure how smoothly the date was going itself, but she hadn't walked out yet so that was something he supposed. However, it would still be a matter of him trying to figure out which social cue or emotion to give, or take, to survive throughout the night. Perhaps he'd still get a chance to confront the very person who convinced him to attend that night.

Footsteps could be heard of the waiter's prompt retreat, hasty, similar to the prior steps taken to escape the clutches of overwhelming fear. If Aliana were to guess, their server was a coward of sorts, somebody unable to handle the emotions available through battle. Cowardice got nobody far when one worked in the RCMP, therefore, the black-haired woman learned the weather the storm of concerns and endless dangers. She witnessed him adjust his position, the man's seeming statue vigil broken by a requirement to move.
[break][break]
The man claimed the prestigious occupation of being a collector, to which Aliana nodded to display interest. There was nothing particularly endearing about the idea of someone gathering stamps and coins for a living. Admittedly, the dark-haired woman was searching for something more thrill-seeking. Before she could comment, the conversation turned interesting as her date questioned her reason for attending. A Chesire cat's smile stretched across her face, highlighting her cheekbones with dimples as she favoured her date.
[break][break]
Perhaps it was best to come clean as to her intentions. She took a brief sip of water, her red eyes settling on Kenji as she grinned.
[break][break]
"Well, you see, there is a valuable reason I am here," she began, leaning back slightly in her chair. "I was hoping for some... romantic interaction. My species calls for those interactions, so in a way, I am here because of my job."
[break][break]
Her explanation was provided, although, her silver-haired date lacked the reactions she wanted. Throughout the date, Aliana failed to notice signs of somebody admiring her figure and the natural attraction of her body. Although, when Kenji explained his reasons for attending, she was somewhat disappointed, however, her face failed to display that.
[break][break]
"I see," she breathed.
[break][break]
Quickly, the siren's face curved into a fresh smile. She just needed to amplify her charms and assure the mysterious Kenji could be persuaded to return home with her. Then, she would receive the energy she craved for tomorrow's escapades.
