Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff
season
Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Dominic had gotten a call while he was out. Apprently a sad little Troublemaker had found its way in the streets of Lorsette. It was reportedly terrorizing pedastrians and etting in the way of the street, causing chaos as people swerved to miss the creature. They should really learn to aim. Dominic thought to himself in amusement, wishing sometimes it could be as easy as running those bastards over.
Instead, he confirmed he would go deal with it and he would check in after it was done. With that, and a hand placed precariously on a sword attached to his hip, he kept going, looking for any signs of the terror.
In five minutes time he came across the culprit. There it was, a dark figure of a terror. Tsking, Dominic approached it while unsheathing his sword with a satisfying shhhng. With the tip of the sword pointing towards the terror, the hunter gasped as the usual sensation of his psychometry kicked in. The skills previously performed with the sword in hand leaked into his mind, grasping on like tendrils that fed him the knowledge necessary to use this weapon. It wasn't as if Dominic had never practised using a sword, but he loved having the knowledge of dozens of warriors who came before him. It made him feel confident in his abilities to destroy troublemakers such as this one.
"I'm sorry to say it, my friend, but you must be dealt with. Don't worry, I'll make it quick." With a shout, Dominic ran towards the terror and swing his sword. With a single slice, he was pleased to see the terror drop into lifelessness. That was easier than he hoenstly expected. That was until, of course, the black figure began to shift and burst into tiny spiders, causing Dominic to scream higher than he ever had before. That's when he saw it... in the corner of his eye... a brute.
"Oh fu-" He was about ot cuss until the spiders were running towards him. With a yelp, he turned and ran as fast as he could to the closest lamp post, attempting to scale up it as if it were a coconut tree and he a thirsty travellor. Fumbling with his radio, Dominic cleared his throat and tried to calmly radio in "Yes, HQ? I need someone here with me now. There is a bloody BRUTE here! And spiders. Did I mention the spiders? I NEED HELP!"
To preserve some dignity and pride, Dominic remembered his abilities in time to help himself levitate to the top of the lamp post. The spiders were, of course, crawling up them, but Dom was clever. Always bringing a pack with him, he quickly shrugged in off his shoulder and grabbed an important ingredient from it: a can of body spray and a beauitful pink lighter With a cruel laugh, Dominic flicked the lighter on and sprayed his body spray in the direction of the terror spiders, roasting them before they could touch him. "Die you gross little things!"
Zeph was shopping. The young shifter had run low on an important resource (Black Mamba Energy Drink, illegal for sale in most places, but he knew a guy).
Of course a day of shopping was never complete without HQ issuing a General Assistance call for his area. Normally this would have irritated. But when the call specified a Brute, and apparently some terror that had become a swarm of spiders, well.
"HQ. Black Wolf Responding. I am 5 minutes from GA. Standby."
"Confirmed, Black Wolf. Caution, Civilians are in the area, keep damage to minimum."
Zephyr shifted quickly, the wonderful little 'infinite storage' charm he wore always storing his clothing and items as he did so. He took to the streets, people jumping out of his way. Were he not so well know already n the area, the sight of a nearly 10 foot long (including his wonderful, majestic, and his humble opinion perfect, tail), 200 pound wolf running through the streets might have caused a panic. Instead it caused cheers, because were going to win, or lose, bets based on how much damage he caused.
When he arrived on scene he stared at the spiders and grinned, as a wolf. He shifted, his charm ensuring he was dressed once he was human again.
"Locker. Present Storage Item Number Two, Two, Three."
"Acknowledged."
With a little pop of distorted space, Zephyr now held what at first glance might be mistaken for a large Super Soaker Squirt Gun, only with a pair of tuning forks on the end. Switches were flicked, knobs adjusted and the shifter known as 'The Black Wolf of Destruction' began to laugh his eyes alight with chaos and possibly madness.
The weapon discharged, shooting what appeared to be liquid lightning, that coated the ground, and the spiders, and acted like one giant bugzapper.
While Dom was dealing with the spiders as best he could, he noticed a flash of black from his peripherals. The make-shift flamethrower was put on hold as Dominic turned his gold-brown eyes to the new comer. He recognized the hunter as Zephyr, a high energy killing machine (to put it in the words of several reports the Sergeant had to read). At least he had back up, right?
"Zeph! Please make sure you-" But it was far too late for words of caution. The black wolf has pertruded a rather curious looking weapon and, with his famous wild-eyed glee, began to fire his weapon. Dom had never once in his life seen amunition like that, but certainly it wouldn't be good if that stuff hit the lamp post he was teetreing on. And just as he predicted, the spiders were being... zapped, he supposed, and the lightning flui began to run up the lamp post. Sometimes he truly hated conductors...
With a yelp, Dominic jumped off the lamp, using his powers once more to float harm-free behind Zeph. "Boy, my hero." It was sarcastic, but there were hints of releif as he watched the spiders get fried into oblivion. "Now... about that Brute. Make haste, should we?"
Dom grabbed hold of his sword once more, turning on his heal to see the brute was charging at him. Him. "Oh for the love of-"
The Brute's hammer-like fist was high in the air, about to bring Dominic's end if he wasn't quick enough. Pulling his hand above his head, the Brute's fist landed on a barrier made of pure psychic energy. It didn't hold, however, as brutes were known for their tremendous power. The barrier shattered but it did its job in preventing Dom's death. That was always nice.
Before he would give the Brute another chance, Dominic rolled underneath the creature, popping up behind him and slashing a good wound between its shoulder blades before hopping away. The brute screamed in rage and pain, turning its attention on the first creature it saw: Zephyr.
Zephyr ran out of liquid lightning more quickly than he liked. But that was to be expected this was, after all, the first use outside the workshop. He popped the weapon back into the charmed storage unit, and turned to confront the sergeant, only to find a Brute about to slam him into a pulp.
He Danced backwards with a string of foul words that would have made his grandmother, bless her soul, die all over again.
"Locker. Upon my shift, equip armor type Seven."
"Acknowledged."
Although called an infinite storage charm, it could actually only hold the mass of a small car. Essentially enough for some weapons a set of armor or two. Thankfully he hadnt cleared out space from his last mission, which had been fighting two brutes.
When the Shifter took his Dire Wolf form, the charm coated him in heavily charmed armor. He could, in theory, take several blows with armor. However, it hadnt been repaired yet, so at best he could take one before the armor became a hindrance.
Not that he planned on taking even one hit. He leaped at the Brute and fastened his teeth into its..Throat? Face? Something in the head and neck region anyway. The brute bellowed and began to try and shake the wolf off.
Hopefully the Sarge would take the chance to finish the thing off. Zeph didnt have anymore tricks in his bag of treats.
Dominic let out a breath he didn't know he was holding when he watched Zephyr dance back and away from the Brute's mighty blow. That would have been a terrible thing to report. It was Dominic's job to ensure that wouldn't happen.
As Zeph shifted and an odd armour appeared on his body- very impressive, he had to admit- Dominic barely left room for question. They had to dispatch this monster as quickly as possible.
Twirling his sword and giving a war cry, Dom took to the air and drove his sword into the side of the Brute's neck. It made him quite pleased to see his sword go through without much trouble, and with the skill of an aged swordsman, the Sergeant slit his sword out, taking the Brute's head off in the process. If Zeph was still holding into it, he would find that the head became heavy without the Brute's shoulders to keep it up.
The only bad part of what Dominic did was that.. well, the Brute wasn't quite dead yet. It just was headless. A great. Big. Headless. Beast.
Zephyr loosened his jaws, and felt himself fly through the air as the brute spun, the force sending the large wolf shifter sailing. He landed with a crash on the roof of an SUV, crushing the vehicle into a ruined pancake. He got up and shook like a dog fresh out of the water.
With a sound like glass shards falling to a concrete floor, the armor he was wearing shattered, the last of the strengthening charms failing. Zephyr shrugged his shoulders and shifted to human form. He sighed and called out a number like a child who was answering a question he was bored of.
"334, lets just finish this already."
With a brief flash of light he now held what looked like a cross between a battle axe, and a ships anchor. The weapon gleamed, and flashed a rainbow of colors, revealing it was made from rare materials indeed. In this case, the entire thing was carved from a Dragon's Femur, and Fangs. The dragon in question had been dead for centuries, but Zephyr had found its body encased in ice.
That was when he noticed what the OTHER terror had done. Why freak people with eight legs when you can freak them out with a million?
He screamed. There was no other way to describe it, as the centipede terror, roughly the diameter of a 55 gallon drum, and the length of a school bus, reared up and hissed at him.
Zephyr screamed, and was frozen with absolute fear. Unlike the fears of others, based on the appearance, his was mortal. He suffered a severe allergy to centipede bites.
Now was a time that, had he been in possession of his wits, he would have requested a flamethrower.
