talutah markey gonna ride 'til I can't no more general info
appearance Physically, Tally is tall -- six three, at least (though her mother, much shorter, would joke that (standing) she was "six foot thirteen"). She's mostly made of legs, though, so when her legs are folded under her, she looks deceptively short. This doesn't do much for her, as it seems she's not quite done growing into them. Dealing with horses daily for over a decade has given her quick reflexes and wiry strength — of course, her weight-trainer's build helps there too. She can't deck you with a punch, but she'll easily slip out of your grip and run. (If you do get in a fight with her, yes, she punches, but you actually need to watch for a kick to the gut.) She doesn't bother with flair. Her style of dress is functional to a fault. The closest she gets to excess is her long hair (which she thinks is pretty); usually, however, it's generally tied back in a ponytail or braid for the sake of function. If she has to, she'll put on a dress; generally, though, she sticks to tank tops with overalls or jeans (makes riding easier), a serviceable coat if it's hellaciously cold, and about three pairs of boots. See, there's the short pair for just going around the barn, and then there's the tall pair, which is for riding, and then there's the other tall pair, indistinguishable from the first, which is for riding, but in the winter, and then -- Beyond her clothing, Tally tends to carry around a wallet and a bag of dry horse treats. We are sorry if she attempts to pay you with horse treats. She does know the difference. Honest. personality Being independent is fantastic, or so says a very happy-go-lucky T. Markey. She wouldn't rather be anywhere else. To work with horses, as she's learned, you have to think like one — quick to anger and quick to forget, but also unwaveringly stubborn. Tally definitely fits the bill. She doesn't hold grudges, but she'll bite when bitten, and she won't let go until she's certain she's gotten her piece in. She's always been fearless to the point of rashness, charging headfirst into things on the basis of gut instinct. Her bold nature does cause her to make assumptions, which, on paper, could work in her favor, but actually does so rarely. Tally is a big fan of honesty. She doesn't like lying, and she doesn't like being lied to. She knows where the lines are between honesty, bluntness, and rudeness, and she'll cross them if she thinks it's necessary. abilities Tally is a regular old human! With her lineage (her mother was a witch), it's likely that she has some ability to perform magic, but it's not really her style. She prefers physical gains. backstory Weeping Rock Farms of Vandalia, Michigan was Tally's world. She grew up alongside several horses, most of whom have now been sold (after all, Weeping Rock Farms is known for their Arabians and crosses). She learned early on how to handle animals, large and small. Her parents taught her to be kind to a point; like with all things, if you give a horse an inch, it'll take a yard. So, while her father taught her kindness and tolerance within reason, her mother taught her self defense and how to respect magic. She's taken all four lessons to heart. Though she was happy at Weeping Rock, Tally thought it was time for her to move out. She didn't have a case of wanderlust, quite, but she wanted some personal freedom. Her parents had connections with a barn outside of Lorsette, and they asked the owner if she could "stick around and pester people". Thus far, it's worked to their mutual benefit! misc She's got a knack for predicting horse behavior born from years of practice, but don't misunderstand — as she will emphatically tell you, there is no such thing as a horse whisperer. (It's a sore spot.) As many people have some difficulty with her first name, she ordinarily goes by "Markey" or occasionally "Tally". Her barn manager calls her almost exclusively by the latter. Tally isn't even sure they know what her first name is. Tally works at South Wind Stables. It's not too far from the city, close to the Calico Forest — they run trail rides in the milder seasons. She's known for her unflappability and ability to out-stubborn anything a horse can throw at her. The main reason she works there is to provide for board and feed for her warmblood, Nightingale's Dalliance (Cozy). He's a bay, and is, by conventional horse beauty standards, fairly average (really long legs) but he has a heart of gold, and they trust each other with their lives. He was the first horse she ever trained, and he's unquestionably her favorite. | roleplayer info ☆ NAME @wooferdill ☆ RP EXPERIENCE ugh like 7 years ☆ TIMEZONE USA Central ☆ GENDER WHAT (SHE/THEY) ☆ AGE adult ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS n/a ☆ FACE CLAIM OVERWATCH, brigitte lindholm ---------------------- THIS CHARACTER BELONGS TO WOOFERDILL.
