Melina Tornov tell me reality is better than a dream. general info
appearance Melina’s a relatively tall woman, standing at 5’9” whilst sporting a lithe, statuesque frame. Her midde-length hair has a colour slightly reminiscent of honey, although brighter streaks of blonde are also woven into it. One of her most poignant features is probably the perpetual bags under her eyes that give her a distinctively sleepy look. That aside she has a tendency of dressing fairly elegantly, with remarkably inefficient looking heels, short dresses and skin-tone tights as the standard fare. Her colours of choice are black and grey, with little in between. If there are any remarkable marks about her, it would probably be the fact that she only has a single birth-mark at all, which is comfortably located on her right buttock and looks a lot like a clover leaf. That aside she has scars here and there, but nothing to write home about and usually to shallow to really notice too heavily. Her incredible leg muscle-build however is rather poignant, as her tights tend to do little to hide her toned muscle’s movement. It’s less noticeable in her upper body however, which remains mostly feminine. personality
Melina’s appearance tends to make people think the entirely wrong thing about her most of the time. Where she may come off as the dutiful, prim and proper princess by appearance alone, disregarding her sleepy eyes at least, her general demeanor is closer to that of a disillusioned teenager or genius. She tends to be overtly sleepy, largely due to the fact that she indulges in her hobbies until the early morning hours, has a tongue as sharp as a scalpel and the deadpan humour of a person pretending to be a computer. To top it all off, she’s about as motivated for work as the average cat is for taking baths; that is to say… the avoids work and stress like the plague. It’s not that she’s bad at it; she just prefers to waste her time in a more enjoyable manner. Still, if asked for help she’ll at least consider it and will most definitely give an honest response, if perhaps not the most easily understood or decisive one. In short, she’s willing to help, but don’t bet on her paying a lot of attention to it. Melina’d never even dream of apologizing for it either, as she makes no promises. Instead she’d tease people left and right with her typical deadpan, sleepy, resting bitchface. Oh, she also has quite a lot of confidence in her looks, so don’t even bother trying to dissuade her with compliments or insults, she’ll flaunt herself over either. Her demeanor only takes a turn for the serious if she’s in combat, where she rarely speaks at all, focusing fully on her task. This applies to training as much as real life combat. She’ll still crack a teasing joke here and there, but it’d be so few and far in between that it might just seem like she’s serious, considering neither her expression nor tone would change at all. If there’s one life or more on the line, she simply starts taking things seriously. Everything less than that just doesn’t matter in her eyes. In fact, she’d rather kill time playing games or reading a good book than bothering with ‘little things’. In short, she’s a bit too sarcastic, considering that other people may consider their issues actual problems. While she’d blatantly reject them as such, because they are trivialities that barely impact people’s lives, so why bother with them at all? abilities Gifted: Enhanced Strength: One of Melina’s main powers is that of drastically enhanced strength. It is a permanent state for her, thus she needs to take much more care in her private life than she needs to in fighting situations. It would be an easy thing for her to break a person’s arm just by grabbing a hold of it a little to brusquely, which is in large part why she avoids touching people with more than a finger. So her control rather lies in fine motor skills, wherein her swordsmanship training, as well as her knitting practice has helped a lot to get it under control. Still, her power remains exceedingly dangerous, especially when she wields a weapon, as even the smallest cut would impose so much inertia onto the struck target that it would likely cost them the entire limb in question. Enhanced Speed: Her other primary ability is drastically enhanced speed. Her movements are essentially a blur to a human beholder, although in the case of speed it is simply her maximum acceleration that has been massively increased. She can move slowly with little issue and can just as easily accelerate to several times the speed of a human. In short, her control over this is quite advanced, in large part because movement is simply a natural part of her being. Running, walking, all these are things that have happened a lot on her life before, so controlling them is hardly difficult for her, considering she even received further training in swordsmanship and other forms of combat, requiring hand to eye coordination and speed training. It’d still be a problem if she suddenly slipped, or tripped, as skittering across the ground at high speeds can’t be good for you. Any motorcycle driver can attest to that. Terror: Quite literally a sort of instinctive terror she causes whenever she locks eyes with someone. It’s essentially like a pheromone that triggers anyone within several meters of her. The response is usually a heartfelt sense of terror, not unlike having a spider crawl around in your pants if you suffer from arachnophobia. In essence, she passively causes sheer terror that can literally make people pee themselves a little, whenever she enters a room. Alas, this is more like a very intense form of startling somebody so hard they are paralyzed in fear and it wears off after a couple of seconds (10). She has absolutely no control over this, which means people tend to jump out of her way and scream a lot when they see her, for no discernable reason. In fact, she was even once shot at reflexively, just because she entered a donut shop and smiled at the cop. Clichés am I right? But really, who shoots with a ten second delay? backstory Really, Melina’s story is a rather boring one. She was born as the daughter of a branch family, related to a house of professional Terror hunters, who had been following this tradition for at least four generations. Whilst her branch family was quite something in its own right, it, along with most other branch families, had serious trouble sustaining its numbers. In short, the casualties taken when facing Terrors were often so high that by her 14th birthday Melina had essentially run out of relatives and was thus adopted by the main family. The only real reason for that was that unlike most of her family members, she had actually born with several abnormal traits. She’d been as strong as an adult when she was merely five years old and as fast as one to boot, whereas making eye-contact with her had been something even her own father had only described as a ‘terrifying experience’. Even up till then the family overall had focused on honing these abilities, giving her intense physical training regimens as a sort of ‘daily workout’, including swordsmanship, gymnastics, close quarters combat and parkour. The goal was simply to get as much out of her innate physical capabilities as somehow possible, wherein the majority of her training had been spent on improving her speed of attack, as her destructiveness had been substantial from the get-go. Her personal life mainly played out behind locked doors and was extremely limited due to the sheer amount of time her training consumed. As a result she made a habit of staying up way too long, becoming sleep deprived as a matter of habit, rather than anything else. It just felt like time was fleeing her, so she wanted to compensate somehow. Games thus became her main source of entertainment, as you could engage with people through them and play them on your own just as well. The response from the main family was that she eventually had to undergo etiquette training as well, wherein they more or less pounded the idea of proper clothing, use of make-up and other such things into her with a fervor, mainly to sustain the good image of the family if they actually took her anywhere for the sake of presentation. Mind you, it didn’t take much of an effort to convince her, looking good was not something she was entirely adverse to, as she could quite openly call herself attractive without a shred of hesitation. She felt like it was only natural that she’d have a good grasp on this, considering her own orientation… another part her family hardly approved of, but couldn’t do much against so far. Melina does however expect that they might try to marry her off to somebody at some point… which she’d refuse completely. She just can’t bring herself to find men attractive. Too hairy, too bulky, too smelly. That’s more or less her judgment of them. And the genitals look weird too. Terrible, seriously. It’s such a big deal to her that she’d even considered leaving the family should it ever come to this… alas that would be a bit of a risk and might sabotage her entire career so far. She had been attending the Hunter schools in most recent years after all, parallel to her private training… which certainly had been a nice change of pace so far. What with their funny little people and all that. Her duty is important to her, but she’ll not let herself be humiliated to the point of being married to a goddamn monkey-expi! No way in hell. misc She got only a single birth-mark. She doesn't know why, but it might have to do with her birth, she strongly suspects that she wasn't raised in a womb and the odd-one out happened only as a freak accident. It does kinda irk her though. Always has slightly wet, red eyes... probably caused by a light allergy against dust. She's really fond of tattoos and other body decorations, although she'd never actually get any herself. | roleplayer info ☆ NAME Verdi ☆ RP EXPERIENCE 12 years give or take ☆ TIMEZONE GMT+1 ☆ GENDER Have a wild gander ☆ AGE Between 20 and 30 ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS n/a ☆ FACE CLAIM GANGSTA:CURSED, Maverick ---------------------- THIS CHARACTER BELONGS TO VERDI.
