appearance Ferryl is a small boy who stands at 5'4 and weighs about 120lbs. His physique is lean and his muscle definition is impressive, suggesting that he is stronger than his size might lead people to believe. His thick hair, which reaches the bottom of his shoulder blades, is white on the top of his head and black on the sides. Ferryl has extra black hair that grows all the way down his back, tapering off just before his tail. Ferryl has more hair than the average person on his feet and legs (though when he has the tools, he removes it). It is safe to say, even in his humanoid form, he is a very hairy dog. Since Ferryl is a shifter, he has animal-like qualities to his humanoid form; these qualities are permanent and he has never been able to hide them without charms. The features he possesses include the ears and tail of a wolf, as well as elongated and sharpened claws and canines (both on his top and bottom jaw). These claws are well taken care of and occasionally appear manicured. In spite of the fact that Ferryl dresses in whatever clothes he can find (be it through a trade or digging the article out of a dumpster), Ferryl loves looking clean and well kept. He is the kind of boy to get dirty a great deal, but he washes himself funky fresh whenever he gets the chance. Wolf Appearance:  personality
Positive - Ferryl is loyal to those who earn his trust- just like any good dog. This also makes him protective of his loved ones - His active nature makes him adventurous and able to adapt to his surroundings - Ferryl likes to think of himself as attractive and charming (this isn't the case in every situation) - He's cheerful yet sarcastic - He's creative and resourceful - Ferryl is very feminine! - Although emotional, he can remain calm in tough situations.. unless he's already agitated Negative - Ferryl can be very dramatic and emotional - A high emotional state may make him more susceptible to fits of rage... which could trigger a transformation - He's hot-headed on bad days - Selfish! He's a selfish wolf who needs to learn to think of others - He is realistic, which can block his creativity at times - Ferryl is spontaneous and this causes him to be reckless abilities Shape-shifting -- activated -- intermediate Ferryl, being a wolf shifter, has the ability to transform into a black wolf with white patterning. Although he can choose when he turns to and from wolf form, extreme anger will force a transformation nearly every time. If this occurs closely after he's already transformed, he can become seriously injured. Limitations of his power include the inability to talk; he can only communicate through barks, whines, and body language in wolf form. Fortunately, other species (and those who understand canines in general) can bypass this barrier if they have the ability to talk to animals. Ferryl's transformation process is painful. As a result, he cannot transform back and forth multiple times in a short period. Doing so would result in extreme exhaustion, pain, and even death. Once he turns into one form he must wait at least 20 min before transforming again. Over exerting his body will result in physical strain that takes time to heal. Enhanced Senses -- passive -- master Ferryl's sense of sight, smell and hearing have immense capabilities both in his humanoid and his animal form; it is uncommon for shifters to be able to use abilities in human form (at a lesser strength than in wolf form), but he doesn't possess the same strength as most shifters. He can differentiate between separate scents and even track a single one. This ability has helped him get out of trouble and find items/people to use to his advantage. Smelling is his best and most accurate sense. His hearing is so good he can pick up sounds that are 20km away. If there is a conversation going on, he cannot distinguish individual sounds unless he is less than 10km away. Sight is his poorest enhancement. His sense of sight is as good as a wolf's, meaning he can pick up the slightest movement in front of him but may not be able to see individual shapes. Limitations include his nose being sensitive; gross smells will distract him too much to track. Ferryl's senses allows him to be intuitive of what is going to happen next. Enhanced Strength- no capability Although enhances strength is a shifter ability, Ferryl does not possess this. It seems like where he lacks in super-human strength, he makes up in his ability to use his senses in human form. Enhanced Speed -- passive -- advanced Ferryl is fast in his wolf form, faster than the average wolf. This allows him to run at, his fastest, 100km/hr. He is unable to sustain his fastest speed for long, as doing so would begin to deteriorate his muscles. Enhanced Endurance -- passive -- master Like all shifters, Ferryl possess enhanced endurance. The limitation of this power is that it is only activated in his wold form. With this endurance, he can run faster and for longer than an average wold. Additionally, Ferryl is able to run and fight for longer periods of time. Zoolingualism -- passive -- master Ferryl is able to speak with animals of all type. To those watching, it appears he is talking to himself while using an animal since he speaks English and the animal replies in, well, whatever it is they do (barks, squawks, growls, etc). With his ability to communicate to fauna, he is also skilled at taming them and can even convince animals to join his cause. The teen wolf has been known to ask murders of crows to help him steal, rewarding them with part of the loot. Healing -- passive -- master Ferryl has a natural boost in healing. This power is automatic since it's a boost to his body. What may take a human a month to heal from, Ferryl will heal in a week. Things that are fatal to humans, however, will kill Ferryl as well. If he is lucky and survives a lethal attack, he will be rendered useless until he seeks medical help (or risk developing permanent difficulties). backstory Ferryl's mother was an immigrant from Ireland who moved to Kelowna, BC pre-Terror. It was unknown to anyone but her that she was a shifter. His father was a Metis man from the prairies of Canada; he lives a nomadic life but would take special care to return to his family to tell stories and honour his peoples' way of life by passing these rituals on to his son. His parents met during his father's many travels to BC, in the very town his mother lived. The two fell in love and shortly after had Ferryl. His father still moved from place to place even after Ferryl was born. His mother was his sole care-taker for the first 5 years of his life while his father was MIA, trapped in a foreign war according to some letters he sent. Ferryl's father would return for visits from time to time, bringing various gifts and supplies with him. It was Ferryl's favourite time, but it was not the sort of relationship that allowed him to be intimate with his father. He was much closer to his mother as a result. When Ferryl reached the age of ten, his mother became very ill very quickly. It was the most traumatic thing to happen to him at that point in his life. His mother had grabbed her boy's hand one day and said, 'the next time your father visits, you are to go with him, Ferryl'. After failing to overcome cancer, his mother died a year later. His father appeared and brought him to the prairies to live with his aunt while he still traveled. He visited more often (perhaps due to pity, or guilt) and would teach Ferryl many useful skills that have stayed with the teen to this day. At about 14 years old, Ferryl came out as gay to his father, who had, at that point, been showing up less and less for visits. The news he told his dad made him vanish completely, never to be seen again. As a result, Ferryl felt abandoned, angry, and betrayed. Although he was thankful to his aunt for taking over his care when she did, Ferryl ran away and ended up in Lorsette. He has been homeless ever since. The years leading up to the current day saw Ferryl thieving to survive. He would find shelter in open homes, the houses of families that were away on vacation, and in abandoned buildings or warehouses. He would never stay in one location for very long, afraid law enforcement will eventually find him for the amount he steals.
