Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

he golden wolf only stared at him for a long and hard moment, with no visible expression on his features. Although, Brendon wasn’t certain whether or not animals could even have expressions, so he wasn’t too concerned. But, he did draw back up to his full, but short, stature and clasped his hands together as he watched the large beast proceed to prowl in a circle around him. If he were to be honest with himself, Brendon would have to admit that he did feel a bit intimidated and a little bit scared, watching the large creature stalk around him like that.
But, he was certain that he knew exactly what he was! His curse had been made as plain as day, and the wolf before him was in fact a human. But, he supposed that didn’t necessarily mean that he was automatically out of danger. Humans could be dangerous too. Thankfully, though, the great beast stopped his stalking not long after he had begun it, and came to a stop directly in front of him, taking a seat, and then shook his head in a pronounced way.
“What does that mean?” Brendon immediately asked him in return, already perplexed. Did he think that he couldn’t do it? Maybe because of how young he was, or the fact that he had openly admitted that he was a novice?
Josuah didn't expect the boy's confusion especially when he felt his gesture had been very clear. He frowned somewhat as though contemplating what he could do to explain, but as a wolf he could explain nothing...he was limited to yes and no answers. It was not ideal, but the boy should have been more than grateful he was even speaking to him. The large creature glanced away feeling mildly annoyed with the complication of their circumstances. But no matter the situation he would not change his mind on his curse. It was his burden to lift and no one else's.[break][break]
For a moment the sound of life from the celebration filtered back into his ears as he briefly glanced back towards the large manor that towered over the background. He had a great many questions for the stranger, but like everything else he was subjected to silence. His green eyes soon returning to the young male.[break][break]

e didn’t know what to expect from the golden wolf, but he didn’t really get anything in return. The creature remained impassive, merely staring at him in that peculiar way of his, and as Brendon watched the swirl of the wretched curse continue to freely move across his entire form, he began to wonder if it had also made it so he couldn’t comprehend things like a person. Maybe he had really been reduced to an animal; although one who wasn’t necessarily feral or typical in nature.
“Okay, you must just be an animal right now,” Brendon decided with a nod of his head, as he withdrew one of his hands to grip his chin between his forefinger and thumb. “But, you’re a friendly one. Maybe you don’t know what’s happened to you!” He went on, a little wide in the eyes, and his proclamation caused him to move forward and make a grab for the beast. “All right then, I’ll just…!”
The boy came to his own conclusion and Josuah wondered if perhaps it would be best if he just believed he was an animal. He could slip away as merely nothing more than a curious event that had unfolded within his life. But the feelings from before had not dwindled away and even now he still felt that silent need to protect him.[break][break]
When the male set out to try and grab him Josuah stiffened and drew up into a stance position as he stepped back and out of reach from him. He could have shook his head once more to show him his rejection, but his muted words were already lost once and so actions would be his voice.[break][break]
He had never met anyone so adamant on helping him. He had been offered before to have his curse broken for a fee, but never had he met a child who not only could see his curse, but also wanted nothing more than to break it. He should have been grateful and trustful that a child couldn't so easily betray, but it wasn't just about trust. It was about his own dignity and fight.[break][break]

e had already sort of expected the wolf to not allow him to touch him, so Brendon wasn’t all that surprised when the animal immediately stood and moved away from him. The beast acted more like a housepet than an actual wild animal, but like a housepet that had been abandoned and was uncertain of others.
Brendon frowned, and pursed his lips, placing both of his hands on his hips as he stared ahead at the wolf who was going to continue to evade him. He suddenly wished that he had a leash — oh, wait! A blessing...! H-He could use a blessing!
Suddenly, his expression flourished at the idea, a wicked grin spreading across his face, seconds before his gaze narrowed in on the large dog before him. Bringing his hands forward, he coiled them into fists, and tried to concentrate on the animal as best as he could.
“Okay…,” He mumbled out, gaze narrowing further, his cheeks beginning to grow hot, as he tried to build his own inner strength and ability to bestow blessings onto others. It was something he had little practice in, and if he had said he was a novice at curse breaking, well, he was like 10% at blessings.
When he felt it come to life in the palm of his hands, a sensation of powerful magic, a gasp escaped him — realizing he had summoned it! — and he instantly launched at the wolf, both hands outstretched, in a desperate attempt to make contact.
Josuah's gaze narrowed on the stranger when he pushed his lips forward in thought and set his hands on his hips. He looked mildly frustrated, but that emotion swept from his features as quickly as it came and was replaced with a rather concerning smile. The boy was too transparent, he could see his intent and would even be able to see it if he was a vast distance away.[break][break]
Honestly, how could someone who looked to be at least in his teens be so...incompetent. It was dangerous...and resisting his need to protect him was difficult enough. The last thing he needed was to see just how incapable the male was. It made it worse that the boy was in fact magical, but his powers were not visibly impressive. How could his family leave him so defenseless? The thought made him angry as his brows drew down into a frown as the male concentrated on his little spell.[break][break]
Josuah felt that the young boy was not a threat and that was why he remained unresponsive to most of his antics. He knew he needed to depart and forget about this encounter, but the truth was that he didn't want to leave. There were things about this stranger that he found comforting. He reminded him of a time lost in his own life...[break][break]
His emerald gaze shifted immediately to the male when his magic finally filled the air and left the wolf curious about his spell. With no explanation or permission the stranger launched at him with full intent to touch him. There were a few spells that required contact, blessings..and curses...[break][break]
The large wolf elegantly jumped out of the way and landed softly within the snow a few feet from where the boy had tried to surprise him. He thought that would discourage or in the very least stun the boy. But the stranger didn't even hesitate as he turned his direction and went at him again, his feet marching over the snow as he gained speed to try and catch him.[break][break]
Josuah didn't hesitate to turn, and run towards the wall. He easily scaled it and turned to sit perched at the top staring down at the boy. His dedication to fulfill his mischievous plan was...amusing...and had he the ability to smile...he would have if only just slightly. He didn't like disappointing him, but it was the only way for him to understand that he did not want or need his help.[break][break]

espite his surprise attack, the golden wolf still somehow managed to react quickly enough to move out of the way, and the way he went about it, too, made Brendon feel as though he… he were just playing with him! He could feel a flare of his own embarrassment and frustration at the thought, because he had actually seriously been trying to be agile and sneaky. Swiftly turning on the path, Brendon continued his stubborn chase of the creature, rushing after him without a second thought, to which the wolf simply leapt the height of the confinement wall and perched at the top, turning to stare down at him.
Now quite pink in the face, Brendon didn’t hesitate to summon his wings, causing them to manifest in a bright light of autumn hues, and then he immediately took flight after him. He wasn’t nearly skilled enough in actual flight to be any match for the wolf at this point, though. His stubbornness had just gotten the better of him, overtaking reason.
Again, he underestimated the boy's stubbornness as he peered down at him and was shocked by the next turn of events. He had caught a glimpse of his power before when he had startled him into falling, but he never grasped the truth behind what he had been seeing. Wings...the male was of the heaven species as his back glowed with the warm autumn hues that caught him off guard. His emerald gaze widened at the beauty of his power and that left him stunned.[break][break]
He was beautiful...the thought pushed into his mind before he could stop it. But he wasn't elegant like an angel as he began very slowly flapping his wings with more force than was needed in order to reach him.[break][break]
'Stubborn boy...' he whispered to him within his mind. But he couldn't bring himself to move away from his touch...not when he was so adamant. He would let him have his little spell...it couldn't possibly be harmful and even if it was...Josuah would merely use his own powers to negate the male's ability.[break][break]

he large and golden wolf did not attempt to escape even in despite of the ample time he had to do so. Instead, he remained perched atop the wall, as though simply waiting on him to arrive. As Brendon neared the creature, the closer he became the more his heart beat faster, until finally he was there, mere inches from him. With a suddenly determined look on his face, he moved forward with purpose and adamancy, pushing both of his hands out, thinking the wolf would be up to more tricks at the very last second.
—And he had been right; his hands met only with the wall of a barrier, the invisible wall lighting up as both of his outstretched hands pressed into it. Brendon had expected more tricks, but not a barrier, and for some inexplicable reason, it actually struck at his heart. He could feel tears springing to his eyes, burning at his nose, as his face scrunched up with his frustrated upset.
Josuah lowered his gaze and waited for the contact...feeling almost welcoming of it. But his ears soon flickered forward and his attention jerked upwards when his senses picked up on an unseen force of powerful magic. A barrier had been placed along the wall and was not preventing him from getting in, but rather the boy from getting out.[break][break]
Alarm filled his heart as he lifted his gaze and watched the way the light shone each time the stranger tried to reach him and with instant concern he pushed forward and into the boy's hands...afraid that he was wrong. That somehow the barrier had just been placed up and now even he couldn't reach him in return. But he had been wrong...and the sensation of the boy's hands touched him...calming him...both unconsciously and purposefully.[break][break]

ut, just as suddenly, the wolf moved forward and broke past the barrier he had erected, filling his hands with the softness of his fur and the warmth of his head. Brendon had filled with an immediate upset, and had felt the sting come alive straight within his heart, even though he wasn’t certain why. Having the wolf push forward, and place himself directly into his contact, shattered whatever resolve or self-control Brendon had previously had. He suddenly clung to him, like a child, his fingers curling into the softness of his thick coat of fur, while he brought the rest of his body forward to essentially wrap him in a hug.
It was stupid, he was being stupid, but the need had come over him so desperately. He felt a twinge of embarrassment, over his own actions, getting all upset over something so… dumb. And, even more than that, hugging this creature when in fact he didn’t even know him. He didn’t know anything about him.
Josuah's paws dug into the edge of the wall to hold himself steady as the boy suddenly clung to him. The feelings from before...the thought of them suddenly being separated had struck him powerfully. There was no doubt now that...the boy was the one for him. He closed his eyes as he pressed deeper into the male and allowed his scent and warmth to comfort him.[break][break]
He felt emotional...from the days he had spent wandering...from the time he had spent alone and lost. He had hated his species so greatly, but now within a moment of content...he welcomed their bond and it was that silent beckoning that awoke their dormant connection.[break][break]
A light mingling between their contact...glowing a bright and warm light that seemed to reach out and delve into both of them. His body tensed as the boy's feelings began to bombard him...filtering into his mind in words and images. But he didn't pull away and instead pushed more forward... until he was no longer on the ledge... and instead falling atop the male and into the snow below.[break][break]

he wolf wasn’t adverse to their contact either, instead pressing forward and against him, almost cuddling to show his… affection. Brendon’s heart thumped within his chest, still beating quickly, but now he could also feel the mingling sensation of embarrassment as it burned at his cheeks. H-Had he blessed him accidentally? Had he bestowed the sentiment o-of affection onto him?
A strange glow, too, also began to come to life within them, their bodies all alight in a white gold, warmth spreading all the way through him, reaching his very fingertips. A soft, and startled, noise came from his throat as he began to draw back, uncertain and confused, but the wolf came with him — along with a bombarding amount of emotions, glimpses into the creature’s life.
Alarm filled Brendon’s smaller body as the large wolf fell onto him, bringing them down from their flight, and into a large hill of soft padded snow. Brendon sunk well deep within it, as it cushioned his fall, and the large body of the beast came over on top of him.
A strange sensation had taken hold of him, gripping at his very heart. A feeling of connection, something internal, or spiritual — magical — sealing and encasing him in a deep warmth of familarity. But with it also came the wolf’s very emotions; his despair and his betrayal, but more powerful than everything else was his… loneliness, aching so deep within his soul, and now reaching out to embrace him. His salvation…
Brendon blinked back a fresh surge of hot tears as the powerful emotion gripped him. He could feel his nose burning, and he had to physically hold himself back, his heart beating wildly within his chest. He didn’t understand what was going on, but as he held onto the thick fur coat of the animal, he could feel his curse even more deadlier than he had prior. The negative energy sweltered and churned, swallowing even him into its suffocating abyss. But, his hand gripped over the link that held it all binded together and within seconds it shattered and splintered away, sucking up all of his energy and consciousness along with it.
It was more personal than he had ever imagined...seeing into another's soul...connecting with such a precious part of another being. He would never break their bond and would remain eternally faithful to his master. Even with his previous feelings of rejection...and even if all of this was accidental. The boy...whose very name now echoed freely within his mind...would be protected by him until his final breath.[break][break]
'Brendon...' He breathed his name unconsciously within his mind as he drew back and peered down at the male who was practically buried underneath him. But a new suffocating feeling surfaced and began to constrict around the boy as his large amber eyes focused on his curse. He could see the chains reflecting within his eyes...and before he could stop him... Brendon was reached out to grasp onto them.[break][break]
"Wait," his voice was foreign to him...it sounded strained and unused because it was human. A voice that parted from his lips with the shattering of his curse. The boy... the child who had done it all became limp...his eyes closing as all of his energy and power was drained from him. A heavy breath left Josuah as he reached for the male and lifted his unconscious form upwards.[break][break]
Pain gripped his heart at the thought of the boy's discomfort...from breaking his curse. He knew as a newly bonded pair...he would have been able to feel such things if they existed. But he was far too distraught to be able to concentrate properly. His mind was whirling with everything that had happened. His curse was broken...he was now in his human form, and he was this boy...Brendon's familiar.[break][break]
His heart was pounding painfully and he felt panicked by it all. But he was given no time because the sound of people approaching soon filtered into his mind. Josuah's immediate reaction was to protect his charge...and is shield came forth without any warning as he stared intently on the group of people approaching. They were shocked by the sight...but like him could understand...what they were seeing.[break][break]
"Who is this?" The hushed whispers began to break out. "A familiar...they've bonded... How can this be?!"[break][break]
