appearance HAIR — Brendon's hair is a deep, rich chocolate brown. His hair is thick and has a heavily layered appearance. Bangs hang over his forehead, sweeping down to eyebrow length, and then grow gradually in length to frame the sides of his face and cheeks. Although his hair stops at the nape of his neck, it's thickness gives it a very unruly appearance, filling out in all directions. EYES — Brendon's eyes are a vivid shade of amber, large, and defined. BODY — Being fourteen, and lacking the maturity of puberty, Brendon's features remain to be boyish. His cheeks are slightly chubby, his eyes larger and round. He stands at a shorter stature of 5'3". His body, although short, is not lanky, his body slim but fully filled out. WINGS — Brendon's wings, when manifested, are mostly comprised of white but form a golden gradient as they reach toward the tips to become a deep autumn gold. They could be considered medium in size, possibly spanning just under half of the entire length of Brendon's body. personality SPIRITED — energetic, feisty, passionate, bold, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed In situations where he feels comfortable, or has been riled, Brendon can be quite the handful. At fourteen, and sheltered, he is still quite the kid. He can become feisty over things, filled with energy or zeal. This coupled with his stubborn streak can make quite the combination. Still, most of the time it's all in good fun. SHY — bashful, meek, introverted, nervous, hesitant Under certain circumstances, generally toward others that he isn't familiar with, Brendon can get shy. He has lived a sheltered life, which can make him awkward in some social interactions, since he hasn't had much experience socializing with others outside of his family and their close friends. STUBBORN — headstrong, determined, unwavering When it comes to something that Brendon does not want to do, or does not agree with, he is one to stubbornly remain unwavering in his decision. It is not easy to get him to budge. However, that isn't to say that he's not receptive to reasonable discussions over a subject he has developed a strong opinion of. Although, It does depend on how the situation is handled as well as how deeply integrated his mindset is on the subject. abilities < beginner --- intermediate --- advanced --- mastered > WING MANIFESTATION - advanced Brendon has the ability to manifest his wings at will, with the exception of under exhaustion or intense pain. The process is not painful for him, his wings manifest in a burst of light in autumn hues. Offensive or defensive wise, Brendon hasn't really trained for either, leaving his wings with only the purpose of flight. WEATHER MANIPULATION - beginner At this stage, Brendon has more of an ability to unintentionally manipulate the weather rather than intentionally control it. He hasn't gotten the hang of using his manipulation power, which frustrates him, as he tends to only disperse clouds and move them around rather than actually successfully produce anything. But, when angered or provoked, suddenly everything works just fine...! TELEPORATION - beginner Brendon greatly struggles with the process of dissipating something as large as his human body into matter particles where he can then travel through a distance to re-materialize. For the most part, when actively attempting to do so, he can dissipate himself for all of a handful of seconds before he re-materializes back into existence, and the entire process is quite draining for him. Currently, he also has no knowledge of how to dissipate anything other than himself. FUTURE SIGHT - beginner Brendon has no control over this ability at all. But, it has manifested in his life as vivid but murky dreams at night of a man shrouded in shadows. The dreams are haunting and pull at his heart, as though they have some sort of bigger meaning. BREAKING CHARMS/CURSES - intermediate Aside from manifesting his wings, the only other ability that he seems to have gotten the hang of is breaking charms or curses. He has enough knowledge and experience to understand what sort of feeling or magic he is looking for in order to break the link. BLESSINGS - beginner While not as incompetent in blessings as he is in weather manipulation and future sight, Brendon is still a beginner nonetheless. But, in all honesty, he doesn't really enjoy bestowing blessings on other individuals and so his lack of enthusiasm to do the lessons has left him with only a small amount of knowledge in the area. However, he does have an understanding of how to bestow a blessing. He just needs to train up his endurance. HEALING - beginner Brendon has yet to be able to heal and hates the lessons so much that he does everything within his power to get out of them. His mother has opted, instead, to allow him to practice trying to heal himself, which Brendon seems to be more receptive to. backstory By the time Brendon was born into the Matthews lineage, they were an already well established family comprised of Nephilim, Human, and Gifted. At the head of the household was Fergus, an Angel of God; Brendon's Great Great Grandfather, and actual father. Although Brendon lived within the same large estate as the rest of his family, he seldom came into contact with them. The Matthews household was split into four distinct families, and Brendon and his mother August were the 3rd ranking family of four. As such, Fergus had never deemed Brendon as important and cared little toward his son. Regardless, Brendon grew up under the kindness of his mother and was able to lead a very pampered and protected life. In his younger years, Brendon had been a very meek and shy boy, often coddled underneath the protective wings of his mother. He received private tutoring and schooling, and was often isolated from the rest of the four families. Nevertheless, he was very spoiled and generally received anything and everything he ever desired. His bedroom quarters were over saturated with deer and wolf plush toys. Likewise, he ate the finest meals and snacked on the most scrumptious of deserts. Brendon developed a love for outdoors and spend a great deal of time wandering the estate's three acres of forest, fields, and gardens. However, by twelve years, responsibility began to crop up in his life. It became necessary to train his magical abilities, and it came as an unexpected struggle. Aside from flight, Brendon had difficulty growing his other powers, and it didn't take long for his handicap to spread to the other children in the Matthews manor. Seeing more and more of his cousins, and suffering through their bullying, Brendon began to grow a more hardened exterior. A year later and Brendon learned of the Matthews family tradition; to create a contract with a familiar and bind their souls together.
