Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
The telltale sign of danger being around Nathan's boyfriend was the phantom pains which sparked fits of worry. After handling the situation with Tristan's father, the vampire frequently worried about the blond's safety. Constantly, the horrible man haunted his thoughts, sparking a mild paranoia for his lover, especially when he was alone. Down the sidewalks, Nathan sprinted, activating his enhanced speed as he struggled to arrive where Tristan stated he would be; the TRS headquarters. Hastily, the green-haired teen kept running, despite the edging exhaustion from the long run. Eventually, the headquarters began coming into view, Nathan bursting through the front doors and searching desperately for Tristan. Numerous people were inquired, gradually leading the vampire towards the medical ward. Merely hearing the title of where people went for treatment worried the hunter as he proceeded to push himself, lungs aching as his heart continued to rapidly beat. Breathing remained elevated as the frantic vampire searched for his boyfriend. There was a momentary stop at the desk, Nathan blurting out Tristan's name through his deep breathing.
[break][break]
The secretary wore a concerned expression upon seeing Nathan, however, promptly rose to lead the vampire instead. He was evidently hoping a short walk could allow the hunter to soothe his breathing. Gradually, their steps got closer to the examination room, Nathan quickly opening it when the secretary pointed.
[break][break]
"Tr-tri... stan," Nathan mumbled out, still breathing heavy.
[break][break]
Slowly, Nathan stumbled over, the nurse raising a brow in confusion, however, she appeared unconcerned. The vampire walked close, wrapping his arms around Tristan, snuggling him.
Tristan followed Brasti to the medical ward so that his hand could be treated. "Alright." He answered, not wishing to argue with his mentor, even though frankly he couldn't bring himself to agree with him. "I'll text you when I'm ready to resume training." He answered, of course that would be assuming Brasti didn't text him first, of course conversation was bound to happen if he didn't hear from Brasti in in a few days and chose to hack him for that information. They walked into the medical ward and the secretary listened as Brasti explained what had happened. Surely a nurse had come to get him before leading him away. It was somewhat surprising that Brasti had left but he figured his mentor had better things to do than linger around him. He was lead into a room before taking a seat on the edge of the bed.
The nurse was preparing to ask him questions when suddenly the door had opened and Nathan had walked into the room. He found himself slightly surprised before a small grin spread across his face. "Nathan." He answered, somewhat jokingly before feeling Nathan's arms wrap around him. Concern filled his mind because Nathan appeared out of breath and had stumbled towards him only moments prior. He melted in the embrace. "Are you alright?" He asked, of course maybe that was supposed to be Nathan's line but he was the one appearing to be fretting, unlike himself who remained calm despite having splinters in his left hand. He pulled Nathan closer with his right arm to snuggle him back as his left arm remained out stretched so that the splinters could be seen in the palm of his left hand.
Entering the examination room and discovering his precious Tristan was something which soothed Nathan incredibly. While the vampire remained absolutely exhausted from the intense run in search of the blond, he could discover pleasure in the man is alright. The green-haired man's breathing remained deep and fast as he provided his deprived blood of oxygen, each breath was deep, designed to fill his lungs with crucial air. After minutes of concerning thoughts, the hunter could finally calm as he settled next to Tristan, keeping his arms tight around him while he merely breathed. Releasing the blond felt impossible, especially considering Nathan's exhausted body leaned heavily against him while he waited to catch his breath and cease the steady aching in his chest. Words were beyond the vampire as he merely fixated on breathing, trying to regain composure after his extensive run. When Tristan's arm wrapped around him, pulling him closer, Nathan melted against his boyfriend while he gradually found his body relaxing. Happily, Nathan snuggles back when provided attention from the blond, keeping the distance between them nonexistent.
[break][break]
"I'm... fine," he finally answered between breaths.
[break][break]
Confusion remained evident on the nurse's face as she proceeded to remove splinters, thoroughly inspecting to assure there were none remaining. Once assured, she grabbed some disinfectant and a small cotton ball. The cotton ball was placed over the mouth of the bottle, the nurse waiting a few moments until it soaked before returning to carefully dab Tristan's hand. Eventually, the vampire found himself able to speak and sit up straighter.
[break][break]
"I was worried you got hurt by... you know," Nathan explained vaguely.
[break][break]
The vague explanation was aimed towards the blond's father, Nathan certain that Tristan would know the individual he was referring to. Considering the sensitive details, like abuse, the vampire avoided stating directly who the person was.
Tristan was pleased that Nathan had melted against him, finding their embrace quite comfy. He had asked his question, pleased to hear Nathan say he was fine. He could feel the splinters being removed, it took a lot of effort to hold still because there were quite a few that hurt like hell until they were out of his hand completely. Once she started dabbing his hand with the disinfectant he found himself relaxing slightly, the pain was slowly going away. He listened to Nathan's words, he rubbed his back with his free hand. "I'm alright, just a few splinters." He answered, trying to ease Nathan. As soon as the nurse had finished dabbing his hand, he slowly pulled it away, grateful the splinters were all out. "Thank you so much." He politely told the nurse before wrapping his other arm around Nathan to hug him completely.
"Shall we go home? I can tell you on the way how those splinters attacked me." He teased, being rather playful since he enjoyed teasing Nathan a lot. Fretting over splinters, that is my Nathan for you. He thought to himself, having a smug grin on his face as he slowly pulled away so that he could stand from the bed he had been sitting on only moments prior.
Precious air filled Nathan's lungs, the vampire finally comfortable as he melted against his beloved Tristan. There was a brief moment. the green-haired man closed his eyes, snuggling closer to sniff the blond's cologne, always finding his scent a soothing force. A warmth was shared through body heat, Nathan maintaining a tight embrace around his dearest boyfriend, snuggling him immensely. Carefully, the hunter rested his chin onto the blond's shoulder, eyes slowly opening as he watched the nurse work on Tristan's hand. The position of their sitting was comfortable to Nathan, his head resting on his shoulder while his arms remained around the blond's waist. An arm was around him, Tristan reciprocating the embrace and holding him close which maintained comfort for the vampire. Gently, Nathan pressed his lips against the human's cheek, giving him a soft kiss before resting his head back on the man's shoulder. Throughout the extensive run, he had worried immensely about his dearest, although, it appeared the slivers were quickly dealt with the issue. The gentle rubbing against his back was a major soother for Nathan as he continued to snuggle.
[break][break]
"How did you get the splinters?" Nathan asked quietly.
[break][break]
Finally, the splinters were removed, the nurse nodding as Tristan thanked her before taking her leave. Quietly, Nathan watched her leave, still affectionately snuggling Tristan. A small smile touched the vampire's lips when the blond mentioned heading home and telling the story of the splinter.
[break][break]
"Yes, we should head home, my love," Nathan murmured. "I hope you don't mind walking. I can always call a taxi though."
[break][break]
The embrace was broken, Nathan standing before offering Tristan a hand to lead him out of the medical ward. Being allowed to take Tristan home was incredible, especially for those few calming moments of travel. There were plenty of walks and drives they enjoyed together, and the green-haired man was excited to gain the opportunity for another trip.
Tristan melted when Nathan had kissed his cheek. He couldn't help but sigh when Nathan had asked how he got splinters in his hand. They had a lot to talk about, but perhaps not right this second. "I'll tell you at home, alright?" He knew that Nathan wasn't a fan of knives, hell the training likely could set him off, so it would be best to take him home where he could snuggle him till the ends of time. When the comment about walking home was brought up, he just smiled back at Nathan. "I don't mind walking, so long as you don't sprint ahead of me. I don't know what I'd do if you needed to catch your breath again." He teased playfully as he snuggled more. "Oh wait, yes I do." He whispered, still teasing. "Snuggling you and kissing you because I want to." He whispered, still teasing his lovely boy friend.
"I can play your nurse." He flirted more, finding this quite enjoyable, though he doubted that Nathan would be running a head of him anytime soon. He took Nathan's hand before following him out of the ward. Despite having said he'd tell Nathan at home, he couldn't help but debate the wording he would use over admitting that during training he had been trying to pry his knife out of the board, which is the reason why he got splinters in the first place.
Providing affection became a natural instinct for Nathan once he started dating Tristan. The blond made him high on positive emotions, every second making the colours more vibrant while his heart fluttered joyfully. Constantly, the human man brought immense happiness to the vampire's life, bringing endless amounts of happiness. While the TRS hunter adored his precious boyfriend, caution remained whenever he displayed his love publicly; despite his tough act, Nathan could be rather shy about showing affection. There were certain concepts best left for the privacy of their home, and sometimes only behind the locked doors of their bedroom. However, an occasional kiss on the cheek, some hugs and snuggling were always welcomed and provided at opportune times. The soft sensation of pressing his lips against Tristan’s plush cheek was always enjoyable for Nathan. When his boyfriend melted against him, the green-haired vampire automatically tightened his embrace, pulling Tristan closer to his side. There was body heat between them was incredible, Nathan enjoying the signs of life; the heat and the sound of Tristan’s breathing. Unfortunately, they were required to leave, Nathan rising from the table and fetching his boyfriend’s hand. The vampire maintained a tight grip, listening as the blond stated he would tell the splinter story at home.
[break][break]
Momentarily, the hunter raised a brow before providing a shrug and leading the way. Slowly, Nathan guided Tristan out of the examination room. He kept his blond beauty close, the minor incident still resulting in immense worry for his lover. The sprinting comment caused Nathan to chuckle until Tristan transformed it into a flirtatious remark. Blush slightly touched the vampire’s cheeks, the corners of his lips poking up into a broad grin.
[break][break]
“And you would be the most beautiful nurse,” he whispered, flirting in return. “Charming personality and a beautiful body? I think I have been spoiled.”
[break][break]
Playfully, Nathan squeezed his boyfriend’s hand, even going lengths to open the medical ward door for him. The grin remained on the vampire’s face, his heart fluttering gleefully in response to Tristan’s presence.
Tristan grinned, clearly pleased with Nathan's answer. "Not quite." He flirted back, whispering. "But you will be, I promise." He answered, slowly following Nathan towards the exit. He squeezed Nathan's hand in return as they walked. As soon as they were out of the ward, he snuggled against his boy friend as he debated on how he would go about telling him about training progress for today. He already had an idea of how Nathan would react as soon as he found out and though he found the reaction adorable, he wasn't ready for the whole protection speech just yet. As soon as they were outside, he let out a small sigh, debating on how he would go about asking for more training. He liked the idea of tossing the knives and it gave him just enough distance to avoid his enemy all together.
Perhaps it was based off of Nathan always appearing comfortable with it or the fact the knife doesn't make a loud bang noise, regardless of the reason. He was determined as ever to try and convince Nathan on why exactly it would be a good thing to allow him his choice of weapon in the first place. As soon as they were far away from the building, he found himself slightly eagered to tell Nathan what happened during training today. "Okay...." He whispered, breathing in and then back out, he started speaking about today's events. "I got splinters in my hand because the first weapon I tried today I didn't like.... I mean firing a gun for protection sounds like way too much trouble and frankly is too noisy.... So I practiced throwing some knives instead." His once slow story turned into a race as he spoke faster. "In process of pulling my knife, I got splinters in my hand."
Now that that story was out of the way, he was sure his lovely boy friend would have words about how training went today. Though instead of giving Nathan a chance to comment, he added, "It was fun." As if the comment would make it all the better that he had been handling knives in the first place.
Automatically, Nathan weaved his fingers between Tristan's, his grip on his boyfriend's hand remaining tight as they exited the TRS headquarters. As they left the safe sanction of the headquarters, the vampire's eyes analyzed the area around them, quietly assuring himself their surroundings were non-threatening for a long, pleasant walk home. A tranquil exhale flowed through the green-haired man's lips as he proceeded forward, calmed by the lack of visible threats in the area. The adorable flirting his boyfriend accomplished in the meantime resulted in faint red being painted across Nathan's cheeks as he blushed in response; Tristan could always be incredibly adorable when he flirted. The reciprocated hand squeezing was reassuring and pleasurable, an odd comfort shared between the couple which reminded one another their significant other remained present to support them. There were several snuggles provided by his boyfriend which increased the blush on Nathan's cheeks, the vampire promptly returning the favour. Briefly, the vampire paused, his yellow-green eyes flitting to Tristan to affectionately smile at his beloved boyfriend who brought him endless happiness.
[break][break]
As they proceeded down the sidewalks home, Nathan kept his boyfriend close, his eyes carefully skimming their surroundings. Occasionally, he would glance at his adorable blond boyfriend, providing a broad smile every time. Without Tristan, there would be an extreme shortage of happiness in the vampire's life, however, it never ceased Nathan's endless worries for his lover's health. A single whispered worried grabbed the green-haired hunter's attention, his eyes fixating on Tristan as he waited for the words to proceed. It appeared the blond human planned on talking about his training lesson during their walk home from the headquarters. When the word weapon reached Nathan's ears, the vampire's eyes widened in surprise as he narrowly managed to maintain silence so Tristan could continue his story. As the story proceeded, the words left his boyfriend's mouth faster, Nathan barely managing to catch every word of the information Tristan was providing him. There was a pause as the vampire kept walking, silent for a few moments which allowed Tristan to add an additional comment.
[break][break]
"You... were knife throwing?" Nathan began, pausing again. "Tristan, that is dangerous! What if you got clumsy and hurt yourself?! Honestly, Brasti should not be suggesting that kind of stuff for you! Hell, he shouldn't place you on the field. You are a terror magnet!"
[break][break]
Silence ensued as an extensive sigh escaped the vampire's mouth, his hand carefully pulling Tristan closer to him. It became obvious Nathan's over-protective side began showing as he genuinely believed his boyfriend should not be expected to defend himself. After knowing Tristan for several months, the hunter knew his boyfriend attracted terrors easily, but Nathan believed he could protect him whenever necessary; it was his job after all.
Tristan wasn't surprised when he heard Nathan's comment, remaining quiet until there was silence between them. He chuckled before answering his question. "It was my idea...." He countered playfully. "Besides, what better encouragement to steal your knives later then having somewhat practice already." He joked, not taking the comment seriously. Though it was true, he was a Terror magnet and he hated those things with a passion. "I'd rather learn self defense so I can be useful honey, I mean I know you mean well but what if you can't make it in time? I can at least stall until you come to protect me?" He teased, snuggling Nathan in the process. "Throwing knives was fun though and I was hoping that maybe we could bond over it in the near future? I mean assuming you want more time with me while I practice." He was teasing but being serious at the same time.
He knew Nathan meant well but he had to chose a weapon of choice to protect himself and gun wouldn't do it for him. That thing made too much noise for his liking and having a silencer on it took too much effort, he liked tossing knives, it reminded him of tossing darts at the target. "It reminded me of tossing darts on the target back home.... One of my more fonder moments because it helped relieve the stress." He had one in his room that he was allowed to toss on thanks to his mother, his father honestly had thought it a waste of time. She had thought it would help him stand up to his abusive father, perhaps it could have if he had Nathan with him sooner. It was being around Nathan that had helped him sleep at night. Though he never mentioned the dart tossing at home, thinking it was a wasted conversation since Nathan didn't have one here for him to continue his game.
Nonstop concerns flooded into Nathan's mind at the thought of Tristan participating in weapon-based training despite it being necessary for his new occupation. Over-protectiveness felt natural for the vampire, especially after losing two individuals he cared immensely about to the monstrous forces of the Assembly of Phantoms. First, they robbed the life of Nathan's delightful nanny who displayed care similar to what somebody would expect of a mother; she raised him like her own. In the absence of his parents, the delightful face of the nanny who supported him was welcomed. Then the second was the blow which originally turned him bitter, the memories of his brother's final moments permanently etched into his mind. The Assembly of Phantoms stole the single member of his direct family who truly displayed love, affection and endless support, although, Nathan knew he played a part in Donovan's demise. Foolish decisions which resulted in a moment peril for the younger vampire and a single attack Donovan was required to defend him from to allow him to live. A gloss of sadness covered Nathan's yellow-green eyes as he listened to Tristan.
[break][break]
There were no smiles or playful comments in return and instead there was a pure concern across Nathan's face as he stared at Tristan. When his boyfriend stated he would be unable to protect him during every threat made the vampire flinch. The truth was evident in every word the blond stated, Nathan hastily becoming aware he will be unable to always protect his lover. Silence remained as the vampire merely listened, his heart beating in concern for his boyfriend's safety; he loved Tristan so much. The additional information about the darts resulted in the hunter's expression softening. There was a pause as Nathan took a deep breath before releasing a long sigh. Carefully, his hand reached up to caress Tristan's face, thumb gently rubbing against his cheek.
[break][break]
"Is... is that what you want?" Nathan murmured softly. "... I'm sorry, babe... You know how I can get. If you want to throw knives you can... but please, for the love of the gods, be careful. I don't want to lose you too."
[break][break]
After the words slowly left Nathan's lips, he wrapped his arms around Tristan, attempting to bringing him into a tight hug. Happiness was something the green-haired hunter wished to gift his boyfriend, thus if throwing knives made him happy and allowed him to be safe, he was willing to allow it. For a moment, Nathan paused their walk with intentions of holding the blond in his arms, hoping he would hear those words to reassure his worried mind.
Tristan hadn't meant to make him flinch. He made the comment about dart tossing, melting when Nathan touched his cheek. "I'll be careful." He promised, melting when Nathan wrapped his arms around him. He pulled Nathan into a hug, holding him tightly. He couldn't help but lose track of the time as they remained in each other's embrace. "Let's go home." He whispered, continuing to hug Nathan, not willing to force him to head home. "Maybe in the near future, we could practice together? If you're okay with that, I mean." He thought, feeling somewhat nervous at the idea of Nathan not agreeing. It would mean more time with each other. He slowly pulls away from Nathan, snuggling his arm once more, planning on leading the way home. He wasn't sure what to say, so unless it was necessary, he remained quiet so that he could enjoy their walk instead. It would be within a few minutes that home became insight. "I'm going to spoil you lots." He teased, attempting to break the uncomfortable silence that had come between them. Nathan appeared worried about his safety over training and he wanted to remind him that he was still alive and well, playful.
Relationships were difficult to maintain because of the mutually respected goal for happiness and prosperity, although, Nathan quickly learned he needed to consistently ponder Tristan’s needs and desires as well. They were planning to be together as a couple, which meant worries and sacrifices were required to allow one another a moment of personal bliss. Unfortunately, the trait the vampire was required to relinquish slightly was his overbearing protectiveness of the human’s well-being. Alas, Nathan could be pessimistic at times, resulting in fears manifesting about Tristan potentially being injured. When the blond melted against his hand, providing him a promise, the vampire’s eyes softened as he slowly pulled his boyfriend into a tight hug. Carefully, he rubbed Tristan’s back, enjoying the shared body heat created from their closeness. There was comfort discovered as he tightly hugged his boyfriend, even doing the length to display his affection through innocent snuggling. The blond was among the few Nathan cared about, and he was determined not to lose him, especially considering he was a positive influence. Around Tristan, the sadistic hunter tended to behave himself, his attitude changing to show a kinder man, albeit, still hot-headed as always.
[break][break]
The whispered words related to finally heading home, Nathan gave his boyfriend a tight squeeze before slowly releasing. There was no motion to leave as the vampire stared at his lover for a few moments, taking in the appearance of the individual he loved immensely.
[break][break]
“... I don’t know what I would do if I lost you,” Nathan murmured quietly as he took Tristan’s hand.
[break][break]
With the hug discontinued, Nathan settled for tightly holding his boyfriend’s hand. Slowly, the green-haired vampire led Tristan down the sidewalk, keeping his beautiful blond man nearby as he headed towards home. Once they proceeded, the arm snuggling started again, which brought a small smile to the hunter’s face. Comfort could easily be supported by the wondrous sensation of Tristan providing affection. Minutes passed as the pair quietly continued walking, evidently pleased with one another’s company. Eventually, the large manor managed to come into view over the horizon, Beckard Manor’s tall height making this an easy accomplishment. As they approached the wrought iron gates, a single statement from the blond made Nathan’s cheeks redden. There was plenty of implication which came with the word ‘spoiling’, but the green-haired man knew the word indicated a more physical type of romantic scenario. As they crossed the threshold and onto the main path leading up to the large steps of the manor, Nathan leaned closer to whisper in Tristan’s ear.
[break][break]
“Not if I spoil you first,” he whispered softly.
[break][break]
There was nothing better than bringing pleasure to Tristan. The mere thought of receiving a treat of special private time brought joy to Nathan, however, the mentor forgot about a certain problem in the basement. Instead of pondering the job he was given, the vampire led his boyfriend upstairs and into their bedroom for his special treat.
