Khaalida Vermonté tell me reality is better than a dream. general info
appearance The Golden Doll, at some might call her - some referring to her eyes, others to aspects of her mannerisms - she truly is akin to a doll. She has smooth, clear skin and large, bright golden eyes that almost seem glassy in a way, but are terribly captivating. She looks very fragile, like a gentle nudge could break her, so it comes as a surprise when she proves to be anything but. Her raven hair is short and pristinely well-cared for, with two longer sections and a parted fringe to frame her face. These longer sections may be seen lose, plaited, tied with a ribbon or tugged away, dependingnot on her preference, but that of those she resides with. Her clothing tends to be rather expensive, either sticking with fashions, or wearing pretty dresses or other fancy clothing on occaision, depending Generally though, if allowing, she preferred to wear just whatever seems most practical, like t-shirts and shorts, or warm jerseys. She sees dresses as terribly impractical, however she has little choice in what she wears. Her Guardian form is a large black canine that looks somewhere between a black German shepherd and a black wolf, with dark golden eyes, that can fortunately pass as a dog well enough to blend in. Generally, she will appear as a 12 year old girl as it is what she’s most familiar with from her current contract, yet carries a maturity and mentality of an aldult far senior to her physical age. However, she can pick her age at will, depending on the situation and what she needs to be. personality Khali, by all appearances, seems to have very little personality, if any at all. It is unknown if she is incapable of feeling emotion, has somehow blocked her emotions, or is simply very adept at hiding them. However, generally all people will get out of her are blank, almost vacant expressions which are incredibly haunting, or false reactions that look real but don’t quite look her eyes. It is easy for her to have schooled herself in false reactions and expressions over her long life, but making them appear wholly sincere is an impossible feat even for her. This is another part of where she gets her nickname as the “Golden Doll” as she is very false and vacant, as well as the fact that she is incredibly obedient - often even to those outside her family - and most everything she does seems almost automatic, like a robot controlled by someone else. Essentially, she isn’t far off. Most situations are approached by Khali through reason and logic. She is very intelligent - as per her species - and has good instinct. This makes her very quick to act, and very lethal, as well as someone who will respond to most things with knowledge and consider everything reasonably rather than overreacting - which she seemingly isn’t capable of anyway. She has very little understanding of jokes, sarcasm and other things that do not entirely pertain to simple logic - however she is also a curious soul that wants to learn most anything so she would likely ask people to explain anything she doesn’t understand. She has socialised very little over her life, mostly shut away and sheltered, so she knows very little of the modern world and its ways, other than what she has been taught. The easiest way to see what she is capable of in all areas, physically, mentally and emotionally, is on the battle field. She has major killer instincts, having been a soldier and assassin the entirety of her very long life, and may commonly automatically attack someone she thinks may be a threat. Yelling at her or touching her is a good way to find yourself suddenly pinned, until she decides you are not a threat, so be careful to keep your distance. Suspicious acts and lies are surprisingly easy for her to pick up on, and she notices the merest signs from all her training. One thing that is strangest about her, is that she cries when she kills - not sobs, just silent tears with no shift in expression and haunted eyes. However, she has never explained to anyone why this is, it doens’t seem to interfere with what she does, and it is unknown if even she knows the reason behind this, but many who know her would deem it unlikely she does. Some would even say it is intentional or a habit as she can make herself cry on command and employ it as a technique. abilities Born of a union between two powerful Arch-Guardians, Khali is a surprisngly powerful individual, especially considering she physically appears only twelve years old. However, she is not without her weaknesses and limitations, either, just as all Guardians. Form Shift and Wings: Like all Guardians, Khali has the ability to take the form of a canine, her Guardian form, as well as posess wings. As an Arch Guardian, she technically had three pairs of wings, but she generally only uses one pair when she decides to show them, and for the most part does not manifest them without need so they won’t get in the way and she can blend in easier with the population. Her canine form that she can take at will is that of a large black canine with an appearance somewhere between a wolf and a black German shepherd. She has very good control over both her wings and her Guardian form, and can change the size of her Guardian form if she wishes but tends not to. Immortality: Khali can stop the aging process - as she has - of start it again if she wishes. She is also capable of changing her physical age at will, though tends to have a ‘settled’ state of twelve that she will revert to when weakened unless she had aged to something higher by unfreezing the aging process. While she is surprisngly resilient against many illnesses, this does not mean she is immune, and she can get sick, as well as be killed, meaning she is not entirely immortal. Healing: Khali is very good at healing herself, however she can’t - or maybe just doesn’t - heal others. Minor wounds on herself can heal in moments and seem to have little effect on her, and more severe wounds can take minutes or hours to heal depending on severity, but seemingly always less than a day unless the wound has brought her close to death. She can also heal herself of most sicknesses and poisons, though she will often take exterior treatments to aid in this as well to be on the safe side - especially in case a poison moves too fast for her to fight against and therefore she’d need to find a way - or someone else - to slow down its effects. Enhanced Strength: Khali is very strong, like most Arch-Guardians. She is capable of lifting a 1 ton truck with reasonable ease or punch through a thick brick wall or metal painlessly, and more if need be, though she tends not to use it for such meaningless things. Instead, she will use it in battle or if it is truly of help to her. She is not quite as strong as other arch-guardians, surprisngly considering her blood, but she makes up for it with speed and surprising endurance. Enhanced Speed: Khali is incredibly fast, capable of maintaining 30-35mph for several hours if she puts her mind to it, though such an act can be quite exhaustive and often leave her faint afterward and with a considerable appetite. Her ability with speed, however, lies more in shorter bursts, capable of reaching speeds that almost or even do break the sound barrier in 1-2 minute bursts. She tends to use this for quick reaction times and getting a hit on her opponent before they notice what’s coming, rather than running or flying, so she is capable of these incredibly quick actions surprisngly often so long as she doesn’t try to drag each one out too long. She is faster in her canine form, and almost twice as fast when flying in her canine form, to the same effects should she try to push herself too hard. backstory A long, long time ago - just how long no one seems to know - Khaalida was born on Heaven to two powerful Arch-Guardians, making it expected that she would be decidedly formidable. She also had two half siblings, however these siblings she never met, nor their father. She didn’t know at all they existed, beyond rumours she ignored. As a child, she was perfectly normal, it would seem. She showed emotion and personality, expressions and a bright light in her heart. She was rambunctious and adventurous, yet eternally caring. She loved creatures of all kinds, was unendingly curious, and very slow to judge. Her trust could be earned as easily as a puppies attention when you offer it a treat, so long as you were nice to her and sated her curiosities. However, all of that began to change as piece by piece her perfect world crumbled. At first, it had been a simple summoning for a contract. Khali had been upset, of course, that her mother would be gone. However, as a Guardian even so young, a natural part of her understood that this was simply the way of things. There was nothing to be done. However, her father was not pleased, he seemed almost angry, or at the very least cooler and more distant. He was never cruel to Khali, of course, always treated her with kindness and gave her everything she needed and more. However, he was hardly ever there anymore, and she didn’t understand why. That was, until one day, he set aside a whole day to spend time with her. He seemed sad, for some reason, and she didn’t understand why. However, a selfish part of her ignored this. She’d worry about it later, and she’d spend that day with her father, and she’d make him laugh and smile again and he’d realise just how much he missed her. And then she’d ask him what was wrong as he tucked her in good night and be perfectly understanding and supportive so he’d realise she was the perfect daughter and he should never have drawn away from her to begin with. It would be fine, everything would be good again. Mother would return someday, and all would be right. She was so terribly far from the truth. That was the last time she ever saw her father smile, as the next time she saw him was the next morning with tears in his sightless eyes and his last breath stolen from him. People took her, then. Khali didn’t understand, but she did know she was alone now. Her family was gone. All those that served her and cared for her was gone. Her home, her life, everything. In that moment she hadn’t cared where they took her. What was the point in caring anymore? They gave her something to fear more than death or loss, and she realised part of her still did care. Part of her still wanted to live. They wanted to break that part of her. However before they could, she was given an offer. If she served them and obeyed, if she protected the bloodline, they would spare her and never harm her again. Small, terrified and lost, she accepted. What more did she have to lose? This way she could get back on her feet, and maybe one day they would let her find her mother. She would ignore the part of her that knew she never would, and anyone who tried to tell her. She would see her mother again. She needed that hope. The first person she protected was not kind to her, but they were not cruel either. They were indifferent, and beneath them, she learnt to obey and be silent. This was her place now, at their feet like the loyal dog she was. The second was entitled and rowdy, but they too never harmed her. The man she promised, her true master as he would seem, kept his word, and as such his family she protected kept it too. However, as the years past, one of those she protected fell in love. She was a kind yet naive woman, who treated Khali well, but by then, Khali had learnt not to grow attached, to see affection and kindness as little more than words ad meaningless action. Emotion, personal feeling, it was all pushed aside. The woman she protected fell for a creature of Hell, however, and found herself on the wrong side of a vicious war. Khali, as always, was by her side, and due to this, she was cast to Earth alongside the couple, where the bloodline would continue in a new world. The Master came too, and it was at that point the contract was violated. While his hands did not bring her harm, nor those of the bloodline, it was by his command that this harm was recieved. Yet she did nothing, did not fight to sever the deal. In her mind, the first mistake was her own. She had failed to protect her charge. She deserved it. She was schooled to fight, to kill, to destroy. She was taught the secrets of stealth, of reading the slightest sign in her surroundings, in people. Her memory was schooled to its best, her knowledge expanded, as the bloodline continued on. She was taught to change herself, her age, how she acted, the expression she wore and the words she spoke no matter what she felt. She was a puppet, a doll, and they pulled all the strings and dressed her up as they wished. She did as they asked, she served as they wished, and she took everything in stride, even when a quiet voice told her she should not, that she could find a way to escape this. What was the use in escaping. Where else could she go? This was who she was now, she could not avoid it, it would follow her, so why try to run and make it worse? So instead she embraced it, blocked everything out, became the doll they wanted her to be. Yet every time she killed...she didn’t understand what was wrong with her. She was stronger than this, a tool that could never be broken. So she didn’t let the inevitable break her, instead using it to her advantage, employing every weapon and strategy he could to excel. She would not break this contract. She would not make the same mistake. She would not fail. Her life meant nothing. Now, the Master and the current Vermonté line moved to a new place, taking residence amongst the richest of Lorsette. There, she played a new role. Within closed doors, behind the silent walls, she was nothing more than a doll, a servant. Beyond them, within eyes and ears, she was a Vermonté too. It was time for her to learn new skills, to learn new techniques and employ them alongside all those she had to further the agenda she unwittingly served. Find, and destroy, that was what she was to do. To the world, the man that broke her and held her chains was her father, and this new role she would excel at as well. She had no choice. misc - Ironically, she is very wary of dogs (among other animals), despite being a Guardian. However, she would refuse to harm them unless the only way to stick to her contract or to save her own life would be to do so. Other animals she is less hesitant to kill or harm than canines. She is fine with other Guardians/shifters etc though, and not wary toward them at all unless they are a threat. - The Vermonté bloodline is who she is contracted to protect, therefore this name was given to her for ease as they pretend she is one of them, when actually the name is not hers at all. Khaalida, however, she was born with. - The man who contracted her, head of the Vermonté family, is an immortal who is not actually part of the bloodline, however he assigned her to protect the family he lead all the same - Khali is a very curious soul who aims to learn as much as she can, though it is unclear if this is a hint of personal whim shining through, or something derived of command, logic or tactic - Khali seems to be particularly interested in small, pretty, delicate things, like flowers, butterflies and gemstones. she insists she doesn’t know why and tends to deny interest and dismiss them - She does not like to speak much, but will do in necessity. Any servants of the family, she will command silently, or they simply seem to know what is needed of them, just as she does - She will often react badly if you yell at or touch her, an instinctual ingrained reaction - She cries silently over those she kills (or sometimes seemingly out of the blue) as though she is mourning yet she does not seem upset beyond a haunted look to her eyes. Even she claims not to know why this is, and she has learnt to simply use it to her advantage where she can, or ignore it as a minor inconvenience - Generally she looks twelve, seemingly out of habit or a deeply ingrained memory, but she can actually take any age she wishes. She seems not to know how old she i, and if any person does, it would only be her Master or potentially her mother if she is alive - The modern world is very foreign to her as she has spent much time shut away and out of sight, or at the very least not interacting socially - She claims not to remember any of her past, at least not during the day, and it’s likely she has blocked it from her mind. However, she does suffer terrible nightmares that could be memories, though she claims not to be certain of this either | roleplayer info ☆ NAME Nyara ☆ RP EXPERIENCE Aeons ☆ TIMEZONE NZST (GMT+13) ☆ GENDER Female ☆ AGE Immortal (18+) ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS Azura Sinea ☆ FACE CLAIM SWORD GIRLS, Sita Vilosa ---------------------- THIS CHARACTER BELONGS TO NYARA.
