Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Caden continued smirking, clearly enjoying this interaction. Though his brother had a point, it would be much easier for Jayden to come to him than the other way around. It was fun teasing his twin, it wasn't everyday that he got to see Jayden blush like that after all. I did say she was beautiful. He thought, knowing that Jayden would hear his thoughts. He had moved away from the window, unaware that Azura had caught a glimpse of him in the process. He had promised his twin that he would come to him, the only problem was that Jayden had his hands full and would he really be able to escape that woman without any trouble? It would leave him with no other choice. He slowly rose from his hiding spot, walking slowly towards the stairs before walking down them to exit the building. He peeked outside, making sure the coast was clear before he started down the street, making sure to go the opposite direction of them.
Give you a location and risk her coming along for the ride? Are you sure you wouldn't rather linger around her just a tad bit longer? He thought, once more trying to fluster his brother as he moved away from them. Besides, I just exited the building I had been hiding in. It is such a shame because I was enjoying the view too. He moved along the streets, careful to dodge people as he wandered towards an alley. Tell you what, if you can ditch her. I'll give you a location. He was teasing, thinking Azura was determined to not let his brother, them out of her sight. If only she had known she had grabbed the wrong twin, perhaps she could have attempted to get her necklace back. He sighed, bored of fact Jayden was getting all of the attention and it seemed to him like his brother wasn't even going to attempt to embrace it.
The stranger just kept walking away, albeit slowly, even offering a simple, silent shrug to her offer. Sure, he didn’t exactly get anything out of it, but she wasn’t stupid enough to offer money again unless she really had to. Instead, she huffed a little breath of exasperation, before flinching slightly. He suddenly looked....angry? She wasn’t sure, but something seemed to have ruffled him. Then, a moment later, he was calm again. Did this guy have some kind of disorder?
‘Maybe I should just leave...this might be dangerous...’ The second the thought flickered through her mind, she chased it away. Perhaps she was stubbourn to the point of foolishness, though normally she’d listen to her instincts...yet right now she couldn’t help it. She had to have that necklace back! At least his lack of effort in getting way, and the strange feeling he seemed to settle upon her that she couldn’t even nearly place, seemed to have chased away her tears. Perhaps he was just toying with her now. This was probably all some game to him. Creep.
His question, while an understandable one, had her eyes rounding once more, something akin to tears that didn’t quite fall to trickle down her cheeks glimmering in their depths. The question made sense, and if this was anything else, she would have already come to that conclusion herself and given up. She hated confrontation, and she knew this could prove to be dangerous, even if something within her seemed convinced he wasn’t a threat. If it were any other old jewellery or random possession, she would have given up after the first couple of tries, been more unnerved by the searching stare. At least she thought so. Still, in this she was determined. One of them had to give up eventually, and she’d be damned if she let it be her.
“It’s all I have left of her...” the words fell out, a gentle, almost lonely kind of murmur. She hadn’t meant to say it out loud, and immediately her graze dropped and she stalled, not sure what to do. This stranger didn’t need to know what it meant to her! What if he took that as a greater reason to keep it? What if his only aim was to mess with her, to hurt her, and she’d just given him ammo? Biting her lip, her gaze snapped up to his and she narrowed her eyes, quick to wipe away the water that had been accumulating once more in her eyes before it could drift a trail down her pale cheeks. “No, I cannot simply replace it. What do you even plan to do with it, anyway. I doubt it’s worth much money. Do you steal because you’re starving, and desperately in need of every little cent you can get? Or is this all just some game to you?”

There was no assistance from Caden, much to Jayden’s dismay considering all he required was a location to teleport to. Escaping the victim’s sight was a favourable route for escape from these negative emotions. They were beginning to weigh, making his steps feel heavy and oddly, his heart ache in sympathy for the upset woman. She was beautiful, captivating and causing his emotions to respond differently in these situations. Ditching her proved difficult, his body refusing to react normally in the situation; under most circumstances, he would have used the nearest door to escape. Alas, this stranger managed to keep him bound close over this period of time, as though something tied them together. He forced himself forward, steps still a slow as he gradually proceeded down the sidewalk. There were a limited amount of people in the area, much to Jayden’s relief considering the reasons behind his unexpected follower. As his twin commented on her beauty, Jayden remained speechless, a barely noticeable pale pink. Fortunately, the winter weather could be an adequate excuse for the redness; at least he hoped. There would evidently be no silencing his brother who appeared to enjoy telepathically teasing him throughout the flustering ordeal; he should have seen this coming…
[break][break]
When Caden commented about dragging to along, the older twin rolled his eyes. He was plenty capable to shake the blue-haired girl off and sprint to the nearest door. Once beyond the threshold, he would have disappeared to great distances, but his brother’s lack of cooperation only made leaving him behind more tempting; the man could use a good jog.
[break][break]
“I could easily shake her off! Now stop torturing me and tell me where the hell you are! I am not playing these stupid games, Caden!”
[break][break]
The telepathic message he sent back possessed an angrier tone as Jayden gradually got more annoyed with his brother’s antics. As time progressed, the vexation of handling his brother became more evident in his expression. Head slouched over, hiding his exasperated countenance in his high-collared jacket while a frown adamantly remained on his face. He kept tromping forward, listening to the girl as she proceeded to answer his questions. Her words escaped her lips softly, suggesting loneliness which resulted in Jayden’s expression softening as he paused to glance back towards her. Overwhelming pity began entering his mind, an unusual consequence for this particular encounter; why did he feel sympathy for her? As she proceeded, Jayden remained frozen in place, flinching at her questions before glancing down at the sidewalk, refusing to meet her brilliant eyes. The tears which welled and dropped from them were horrible, Jayden feeling a pang of sadness; his brother caused this because of his need to steal. For once, he felt the stomach-wrenching powers of guilt as its claws dug in, but he attempted to keep his face guarded after his flinch.
[break][break]
“It’s all I’m good at,” he mumbled quietly before turning to leave.
[break][break]
Thievery was an addiction, something he fed because he grew skillful in it; he could not resist. Merely catching a glimpse of an item could result in the desire to quiet snatch it from the owner and leave them shocked. There was only a pair of skills Jayden maintained in his repertoire, which was thievery and fighting. He lacked the intelligence for certain occupations, thus his solution was to proceed to be the brawn and allow Caden to handle the brains. He proceeded to keep his gaze locked with the dully coloured sidewalk, an ache entering his chest as he ceased his escape attempt again.
Caden chuckled when he heard Jayden's demand. Fine, fine. I was growing bored with these games anyway. He thought to himself as he was reminded that Azura was likely nearby Jayden. I'm near the library. He thought, knowing that Jayden would likely come as soon as he got a location. I don't know why you didn't bother teleporting even without a location. I mean all she needs to do is keep up and she would go for the ride.... why you would risk that is beyond me.... Perhaps he was too fixated on the idea of them being one twin to like the idea of people getting wind that there was too of them, but it had worked in their benefit in the long run. Nobody could understand why Klepto seemed to have a bunch of powers when people had viewed his species as gifted, finding that he was too gifted to be any other species. If the world found out there were two of them, he would have to get his own name, since his brother was a soldier and he was an informant.
He didn't have fighting skills, only escaping so if caught, it would be game over for him. He found himself caught up in his own thoughts to pay attention to his own surroundings. What is taking so long? He thought, surprised that Jayden wasn't here yet. Maybe he was being slightly impatient but his brother had spent the last few minutes demanding a location and no sooner did he give him one that he found himself waiting impatiently to show up. Are you sure that you can ditch her? Because I don't want to come over there.... He thought to himself annoyed, it wasn't the fact he would see her again, it was the fact that she was a person that would notice the two of them and having people find out that there were twins sharing the alias Klepto wasn't plausible.
The boy seemed angry again. She could sense it like a warning, and she felt her own muscles tense warily. Everything within her was screaming at her to just leave, give up. Yet, beyond how desperately she wanted the necklace back, there was something else holding her there. Despite her own angry remarks or tears, she felt like he had some kind of control over her that kept her in his trail. Though of course she excused that too. She just wanted her necklace back, that’s what kept her trying, and she was going to get it back. ...wasn’t she?
The anger seemed to be exchanged for something else as he paused to glance at her, and she blinked at him. There seemed something akin to a look of familiarity in his eyes, perhaps something like...sympathy, or guilt. She couldn’t place her finger on it, but it froze her in place as she stared back at him, uncertain. Hesitant as always. If she’d known where he’d tucked the neckclace away, she could just take it back and run off. Or fly off, even. This guy couldn’t fly, right? She figured she’d have realised now if he could, or at the very least if he had any intention too. Though, he’d been able to move terribly fast before....had that tired him out? Was that why he was so slow now?
Any second now, she expected him to just burst forward down some ally and disappear.
Shaking her head, the spell of his gaze broke as he turned away, flinching at her words and staring at the ground. So maybe that was guilt, then? No, she wasn’t going to ask, she doubted she’d like the response. What if implying he was guilty made him angry? He didn’t exactly seem stable, after all, his reactions nd personality seemed all over the place, he went from hugging her and flirting to barely looking at her, and from sprinting off at incredible speeds to trudging along as though he was struggling to lift one foot after the other.
“Its all I’m good at.” The words echoed through her mind, and she froze at the familiarity of it. That reminded her of her childhood, her time appart from her brother for those first few years where she couldn’t handle being alone, where she stole and acted out, where she thought she wasn’t worth anything. Firmly, she shook her head, and even she was surprised by the resolve in her voice. “I doubt that.” Why was she suddenly consoling a stranger?

Escaping the stranger was crucial for Jayden's avoidance of these guilty emotions and furthermore, so he could not be arrested for his crimes, however, the task proceeded to prove difficult. There was something tying him in place, a supernatural force the older twin could never explain; was she controlling him? From his experience in the Assembly of Phantoms, mind control and possession were abilities witnessed on the field, a few members using the power to their advantage. There was a chance this woman was pulling similar strings through playing with his emotions, resulting in this unique mixture of conflicting emotions; he was excited and happy, yet nervous and frightened. He merely required a door, some manipulation on the accesses, then a single step through could land him miles away from this mysterious woman, however, part of him did not desire that outcome. There was something which desired him to obey the "ropes" which bound him to this location, but Jayden could not figure out why; everything seemed to be ending in the question 'why?'.
[break][break]
After several minutes of torture, his brother finally relented, stating he would provide a location to allow Jayden to escape, and bringing an excellent point up. There was an eye roll evident, Jayden becoming hesitant to answer from his lack of thought over the least likely scenario. Either way, the older twin was not the sharpest tool in the shed, his intelligence being subpar from his horrible schooling.
[break][break]
"It won't happen, I will just do a whole track, okay? It's not like it takes long for me to teleport after all," Jayden responded telepathically. "Now just chill and I will get right over there."
[break][break]
The older twin proceeded, deciding to turn into a separate alleyway to find a back door for his teleportation. There would be substantially fewer people to witness the use of his gifted ability, access manipulation. The skill proved under all circumstances to be useful, especially considering the teleportation power which arrived with it. Steadily, his green eyes searched the alleyway, his hands in his pocket as he looked for the best opportunity to escape. There he saw a brown, wooden door, perfect for his escape from this girl's strange power influence over him. One of his calloused hands left his pocket, but there was a pause as the woman proceeded to console him, Jayden providing a sideways glance. There was a pause as his eyes locked on her, the resolve she held despite having zero knowledge about his background and abilities, yet, she still believed there was more. He heard his brother's impatient comments, but the older twin made no effort to unlock the door yet. He glanced towards the closed door before his eyes trailed back to her, where they paused, a glimmer of determination touching his eyes.
[break][break]
"Stay here," he stated briefly.
[break][break]
Promptly after speaking, his gaze returned to the door as he raised his hand towards the rusty doorknob. There was a glow of red from his eyes, the colour shortly changing to green before he reached out and opened the door. Instead of leading to the back of an old kitchen, it became the doorway to the library's back access, facing out into the alleyway. He stepped through quickly before closing the door behind him, allowing him to take a single step into the alleyway where he stayed hidden in the shadows.
[break][break]
"Come around back and don't be so impatient. I wasn't sitting right by a door," Jayden informed his brother.
[break][break]
Once his message was relayed, Jayden waited patiently for the arrival of his brother, nervous about the actions to arrive. In his mind, he remembered her tears over the necklace and desired to see a smile from the valuable object being returned to her. While there was a chance the girl was controlling him, the guilt of stealing from her specifically proceeded to beat him up, fueling his desire to retrieve and return her valuable.
Caden listened, Brother, if she touches you and follows you in, you can count on her going the whole track with you. Or worse, losing her in there. So due us both a favor and not be touched prior to entering, okay? He thought, not really concerned about Azura, but the last thing he wanted was a pretty thing being lost just because she followed his brother in. He would wait, but when Jayden hadn't come he sighed impatiently. Maybe walking home would have been better but he didn't want his brother getting caught, no, he would much rather play bait because it would be easier to escape than it would be for his brother. He rolled his eyes when Jayden told him not to be so impatient. Don't give me that, I know that you made me wait on purpose. He countered, slowly rounding the corner until his brother was in view. If he had known what his brother planned to do upon seeing him, he might have gone home without waiting up, but he trusted his brother despite the strange sensation telling him that he was going to help Azura at all costs.
Which included but wasn't limited to, making him angry in the process. Now that you finally got away from her, I can show you our price. He thought, pleased as he slowly pulled out the necklace to hold it up for Jayden to see. It was common for him to pull the stuff he stole out for his brother to see, finding it amusing when he tended to win what he viewed as a thief game. Who could steal the most valuable items. He wouldn't be bothered if his brother wanted to touch this necklace because just like anything else, they shared anyway. Let's go home. He thought, preparing to enter the door with his brother, knowing that this game had finally come to an end of course there was always later. This was so much fun, I can't wait to beat you again. He thought, clearly amused at how this all turned out. I really wish I got to continue watching you two go at it, your so adorable when flustered, brother. He teased, using this chance as he waited for the door to open for them to return home. Because at home they could relax just like any other day.

There were rare occasions where Jayden would steal from his twin, mostly from his compulsion to take items. The items would always be returned, eventually, but nervous emotions graced his thoughts at the notion of permanently thieving the necklace from Caden. Unfortunately, witnessing the female stranger’s sorrowful face tugged at the older thief’s emotions, managing to bother him to intense points. There was hesitance in Jayden’s thoughts, especially considering Caden remained to be the only family member who cared about him. Their parents desired perfection, but never received it, resulting in the dependence the twins possessed on one another. An eye roll remained Jayden’s silent response to Caden’s statement over the possibility of accidentally dragging her through. Under all circumstances the older twin would avoid doing the deed; his brother would be furious if somebody discovered there were two of them. While Jayden kept their slight different hidden beneath his shirt, he would never overstep far enough to allow another individual to catch a glimpse of them together; it would be nearly impossible to have them disregard it as sheer myth. They were already an enigma for the evident trio of three stronger powers they held: enhanced strength, enhanced speed and access manipulation.
[break][break]
Those were already considered an anomaly wrapped into a “single package” which left TRS, RCMP and citizen’s heads spinning in confusion. There was theorist who believed they were an entirely different species, various news sources bringing up the inquiry of Jayden Milton (AKA: Klepto) being a newly discovered species. Naturally, those accusations were false but planted through careful planning to avoid anybody learning the truth; learning there were twins born to the Milton family. There was no response to Caden's counter, the older twin releasing an annoyed sigh opposed to telepathically rebuking against his twin. When a man if similar appearance to himself rounded the corner, Jayden's eyes flitted towards him, watching Caden approach. Words were telepathically stated, Jayden remaining silent as Caden revealed the "price" which was a necklace; the necklace. There was silence as the older twin listened to the younger, allowing him to talk, blushing when his fluster was mentioned. Silently, Jayden turned towards the door, eyes flashing green before he changed the access.
[break][break]
"I just got unlucky," he responded. "And next time, I am not being left with your victim or to hear your stupid remarks!"
[break][break]
Once the door's access was changed to home, Jayden opened the door for his brother, eyes fixating on Caden as he waited for him to pass through the threshold, should he chose to accomplish the action. On most occasions, the older twin insisted on being the last through the manipulated the door to avoid somebody possibly slamming it shut and trapping his brother in the location they teleported from. While Jayden could easily handle himself and probably dispose of the nuisance as needed, he was constantly wary of Caden's lacking in fighting ability. In this situation, he hoped it would provide the advantage in retrieving the necklace, should his brother decide to proceeded to hold it. All the older twin required was a chance to reach out and grab it before forcing Caden through the manipulated access, leaving him trapped at home while he returned the necklace to the stranger. He prayed he could accomplish the objective, and Murphy's Law would not delay his plans.
Caden couldn't help but smirk when he heard his brother's thoughts. I see. He would slowly nod his head, more than interested in teasing his brother further. Awwww but I left you such a pretty one this last time, besides I out ran her. It can't be helped that you crossed paths, you shouldn't have remained out in the opening very long. But then again, it isn't everyday one is chased by their victim in the first place. He thought, clearly amused that his brother hadn't enjoyed his teasing. It doesn't matter what happens, you'll always hear my remarks, whether they'd be stupid or not. As soon as the door was opened, he had stepped inside. He had expected his brother to follow after him, only to be surprised that he had the nerve to snatch the necklace clear from his hands before closing the door with only him inside of it. He knew the location was home but he felt betrayed, betrayed that his brother had played him.
He could have said that he was going to return the necklace to the girl, though Caden already knew that was what he was planning. He could have said he was sending him home alone and yet he had allowed him to think they were going together. It wouldn't matter if his brother tried communicating with him, with effort he forced his mind closed so that the only thing noticeable would be the silence. He found himself inside the house, quickly exiting the house because he no longer wished to be here. He had quite a few places he could go, but first he'd try and find his favorite flings and go from there.

Nervousness entered the pits of Jayden's stomach after hearing the pleasant manner which his brother interacted with him. There was only a single man the older twin considered family, which was naturally his twin who consistently displayed a brotherly attitude towards him. Part of him wished he could avoid betraying his brother, the brother he loved dearly and cared about; the person who rescued him from a possible failure in education. The younger twin, the brains of the operation, the only individual who cared about him and displayed it more consistently. There were no answers to Caden's words, Jayden allowing the split guilt to bother him. The female stranger losing her necklace was something he remained guilty about, and finally, the traitorous act he would accomplish on his brother. Before Caden passed through, Jayden's hand managed to grasp the slender chain of the necklace, taking it from his grip before closing the door. Immediately, the older twin lifted his hand, closing the access between their home and the back alleyway of the library. The necklace was placed into the depths of Jayden's pocket, pausing as his eyes looked down the stones below.
[break][break]
"I'm sorry... I don't know what is wrong with me," Jayden stated telepathically.
[break][break]
After a few moments, the older twin slowly walked away from the door, heading towards a separate one. There was a single pause as Jayden glanced back, guilty about the action he took towards his brother. A frown remained evident on his face, sorrow and guilt captured in his green eyes. Another door was approached, Jayden glancing around before lifting his hand, eyes flashing red before turning green as his manipulation unlocked the door. There was a pause as the older twin manipulated the accesses to return to the alleyway where he left the blue-haired woman behind. Slowly, he grasped the doorknob, pausing as he contemplated his actions, knowing he could simply return home with a little focus and apologize to Caden; he could return the stolen item. A deep breath was taken before he opened the door, teleporting himself to the alleyway, his green eyes glancing around in search of the stranger he left behind. He needed to return the precious necklace to the sweet stranger who appeared to be controlling his emotions. There would be time to apologize immensely to Caden and pray forgiveness would be provided; especially considering Jayden lacked the intelligence to accomplish the informant sections of their job.
[break][break]
Silence encompassed Jayden as he checked around for the woman, planning to return home afterwards and perhaps apologize to Caden more. There were the slightest breaks to his usual neutral expression, evident by the frown and hints of both concern and sorrow aimed towards the actions he took towards his dearest twin.
The male seemed to freeze in response to her words, seemingly caught off guard as he spared a glance toward her. She couldn't blame him - the words had surprised her too. Never once had she intended to think anything of this stranger beyond him being acleatly unstable thief from whom she intended to retrieve her necklace from and never see again. Yet there was this odd sensation, like a drawing toward him, that she couldn't seem to shake. What was he? It wasn't the first time she'd asked herself with no reply. She didn't know enough to tell, but his effect on her surely couldn't be natural.
His gaze left her again, and she followed it. She hadn't quite been paying as much attention as she ought to, but she realised now where they were. He'd led her to a silent, deserted alleyway, and had paused outsider a door, seeming hesitant, and then determined. Azura tensed. It didn't quite seem intentional, and her innate danger sense didn't seem to be striking up at all in his presence, but she couldn't help but ignore it and wonder...why had he brought her here? Before any solid conclusions reached her mind, he was giving an order she cursed herself for listening to, his eyes seemed to....change, and he stepped through the door. After a moment of staring, dumbfounded, at the closed door, Azura tried the handle. Locked. She peered through the window inside. Empty.
Where on earth had he gone?
Suddenly realizing the thief had escaped, and there was nothing she could do about it - if he somehow wasn't in the musky old kitchen of the abandoned building now, then he could be anywhere. He just be some kind of teleporter. Defeat Welles up inside her, threatening to flood out again in a well of tears. And yet his words echoed in her mind, bringing up a wall of confusion to keep and tears at bay. Stay here. Why? That sounded like a horrible idea. It was stupid and she should go home. She knew what the thief looked like, she was an artist, she could turn in an image to the police and report the thief. Thry could retrieve her necklace- and whatever else the thief had stolen from others as clearly this was a common occurance - and then all would be fine. Clearly he wasn't giving it back.
Stay here.
Silently, Azura scolded herself as she shifted forms and fluttered up to a windowsill, tucking herself into the little alcove to seek shelter from the chilly wind. She'd rather not be spotted if she was to sit around hopelessly, waiting for the unlikely return of a criminal who'd stolen her necklace, said all of five words to her, disappeared, and was likely somehow controlling her. She felt normal again, now that he was gone, to the point she now realised he'd had a larger effect than she'd thought. Now she could really see how terribly absurd this whole situation was, and shudder at the thought of the risks she'd been taking, all for nothing.
Azura started when he came back. The same door he'd left through opened into the alleyway, and she stared down with dark, beady eyes, tracking the movement from her perch. She hadn't been expecting him to come back, and she almost flinched that it felt right now he had. With a silent breath, she fluttered down to the ground, shifting back as she landed and blinking at him with wide, wary sapphire eyes. She wanted to yell at him again....but the strange sorrow in his eyes gave her pause.
"I didn't think you'd actually come back," she uttered instead, tone soft and colored with uncertainty. It was true. Yet...why had she waited?

[break] It's all good!
Initially entering the location Jayden previously came from was frightful, the thief glancing around to notice the absence of the blue-haired woman; he was unaware of her species. Tentatively, the older twin stepped further into the alleyway, his green eyes searching for a sign of her location. While he could spend precious minutes tracking her down, Jayden feared everything he accomplished being for nothing. The single action managed to upset his twin, evident by the lack of telepathic response on Caden's end. Had everything he accomplished to save him from his own grief been futile? A long sigh escaped the thief's lips, hands retreating into his pockets as he closed the door behind him. Hopefully, the beautiful woman had not gone far or already notified the authorities; RCMP forces entering the area potentially meant limited time to locate her. The subtle sounds of feathers rustling alerted Jayden, his eyes flitting quickly towards a blue jay, landing before the magic suddenly began. The young man took a step back, surprised by the action; he had not met many shifters, let alone witness them transform in front of his eyes.
[break][break]
When the blue jay's small form suddenly shifted into the young girl, Jayden watched, surprise briefly crossing his expression before turning neutral with faint hints of sorrow cracking his stony countenance. Immediately, he had recognized her unique blue hair alongside those mesmerizing eyes which shone like gemstones, sapphires to be specific. There was uncertainty in her soft tone as she stated how she did not think he would return. Admittedly, Jayden thought he would not for a moment either, during his contemplation if taking those actions towards his brother was the correct option; he cared deeply about Caden after all. The older thief remained hushed about the possibility of simply leaving, already knowing he could potentially upset the female stranger by stating it.
[break][break]
"I just... had to go get something," he mumbled out an excuse for leaving.
[break][break]
Cautiously, Jayden stating his words, refusing to risk the possibility of the stranger discovering the secret of Caden being his twin. It was obvious he already angered his twin today, thus he wanted to avoid accomplishing that for a second time. Slowly, the older twin searched the depths of his right pocket, the necklace's leather cord brushing against his fingers before he carefully wrapped them around it. He raised it from the depths, sunlight glinting across the metallic surface of the pendant as he brought it out, offering it to the female stranger. The thief remained silent as he offered the necklace back, refusing to provide further explanation for his brother's actions, especially considering he risked suspiciously worded sentences which could have suggested him not being the culprit of the theft. There was hope that his brother had not somehow managed to steal two necklaces and never informed him, but there was something insisted the necklace he held was the correct one. Something about this stranger resulted in a strange variety of emotions, but Jayden knew he wished to see her smile.

"Does... this make you happy?" He murmured.

Despite the sadness, he felt for wronging his brother, Jayden prayed she would smile for the safe return of her precious necklace. There was something about the notion which brightened his thoughts, the older twin oddly desiring to witness somebody other than Caden and himself delighted over something.
Go get something? The hadn't been the excuse Azura had been expecting. Yet then again, seeing as she hadn't even expected him to return despite the fact she had for some reason waited, she hadn't thought she'd get any kind of explanation at all. Yet....was it good he was back? Part of her almost felt pleased by his return, and yet....why would he possibly have come back?
His hand slipped into his pocket next, and she suddenly realised how wary she was of what he would pull out, perhaps what he had gone to retrieve.
She hadn't anticipated a familiar red gleam.
Eyes widening in astonishment, Azura simply stared for a moment, gaze flitting between the necklace and the thief, before she spurred herself into action. Before he had the chance to change his mind, Azura reached out and closed her fingers around the pendant, drawing it back into her possession and quickly inspecting it, even if she didn't feel a flicker of doubt despite circumstance giving her a good reason to.
His words caught her off guard again - especially since she'd thought he'd leave right away - and for a moment she hesitated, blinking across at him. Then, despite herself, a slight, teary smile warned her face as she clutched the necklace close to her chest and nodded mutely.
"Yes," she added quietly after a moment. "It does....thank you." It was then that her faint smile melted into confusion m, and she tilted her head softly.
"But why?" she asked faintly, "You got away...why bring it back?"

There was something crucial about obtaining the beautiful girl's happiness, Jayden unable to explain his reasons for his desires. Normally, he would allow people to wallow in the pits of despair, uncaring for their connections towards material items. Under most circumstances, feeding the kleptomania which plagued his daily life was significant, yet, another individual was becoming more important than the endless desire to steal. The leather cord remained softly tangled in his hands, the thief's green eyes curiously gazing between the mysterious girl and the gleaming red stone. When the girl's eyes widened, Jayden watched her, allowing her to grab the pendant and release the necklace from his fingers. Once the pendant left his grip, the thief's hands retreated to his pockets as he proceeded to monitor her reaction to receiving her precious piece of jewelry. There was a glimmer of water in the girl's eyes, yet, a smile remained stretched across her lips. Amazement breached Jayden's face, the young soldier never witnessing somebody cry tears of joy. Finally being allowed to see the mysterious shifter's smile was rewarding, allowing for the thief to momentarily forget the sadness in betraying his twin.

There appeared to be no distress, the quiet nod proving the woman was pleased with the return. A slight fluttering entered his chest because of her joy returning; something was special about her. Words could not explain the strange happiness which transcended over him from finally witnessing her smile. There was something beautiful about her smile, making it difficult for the thief to glance away. The way she clutched the necklace close suggested an extreme value to the item. When the verbal confirmation was provided, a brief smile breached Jayden's countenance, before it hastily disappeared, exchanged for the expected serious one. After securing the image of her smiling in his head, the older twin assumed he could leave, but before he could turn to leave, she inquired about his motivations. There was a pause as the green-haired man froze in place, silent as confusion flickered in his own eyes; he could hardly explain his own objectives. A few minutes passed before Jayden gave up on words and merely provided a perplexed shrug in response. Betraying his brother was something the older twin had never accomplished, thus he could hardly find the words to explain himself.
[break][break]
A slight sadness returned, although, Jayden was already thinking of methods to make his brother feel better. The younger twin accomplished many things to assist him in succeeding, thus the older twin knew he would need to apologize and provide a peace offering.
Something akin to amazement seemed to flash across the face of the male, the only break in his neutral countenance thus far beyond the blush she wasn't entirely sure if she'd imagined or not, or the strange haunted sadness about him that had perplexed her so. She supposed his reaction to her necklace's return was no more strange than the fact of her smiling to an unstable thief, whether he gave her back the necklace or not. Yet why was it she didn't feel strange smiling at him?
A silence settled between them, somehow simultaneously light and heavy at once, broken only by her words and none from him. So, with nothing else she could do in that moment, she watched him in silent return. Of course, she could leave, but for some reason she felt strangely inclined to stay.
For a moment, she swore she saw a smile, and the way it rose her heart confused her. Perhaps fortunately, it was gone in an instant, but something told her she didn't just imagine it.
In response, the male finally offered a shrug, as though he were as confused as she was. In all honesty, she couldn't blame him for having no answer - it simply didn'tmake much sense. Why come back, just to give it to her? Maybe it had something to do with him saying he needed to get something. Maybe he'd just been mucking around and intended to return it, but dropped it somewhere and didn'twant to admit to losing it. Was that a stretch? She supposed it was, but so was an escaped thief up and changing their mind.
Azura had expected the thief to turn away, to leave, but instead he only looked sad. Surprised, she blinked at him, but allowed putting her necklace on to mask her nervous hesitation. She should just leave- what was she even still doing here.
She readied herself to bid farewell, to give herself leave, but what words left her mouth were not bad, but not intended. "What's your name?"
That was probably a horrible question to ask a criminal.
