Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
It was late. Later than a fifteen year old should have been outside for. Sibyl didn't really have anywhere to go though. She hadn't had anywhere to go since she was five, so the cold and night had long since given up on frightening her. She was bundled up in many different layers, the largest of which was probably meant for an adult male instead of a teenaged girl, but it kept her warm.
The young girl stalked through the streets, carefully avoiding anything or anybody that seemed like they might cause trouble. She had heard a rumor about a certain... gate being warmer than other areas of the city. Sibyl had also heard that other people avoided it for some reason so she figured it wouldn't be such a bad idea to hang out there just to warm up for a little while.
A screech echoed through the night air, rebounding off the silent streets in a creepy way. Sibyl laughed as Seed landed on her shoulder.
"Can't you be a little quieter? Your call kind of sounds like a lady dying." She giggled. The barn owl puffed up, almost as if offended by the notion.
"My call is beautiful and I didn't want you to startle at my landing. Therefore I shall keep doing it, for your benefit." He cooed. Sibyl chuckled again and continued walking as her friend settled on her shoulder and puffed his feathers up, getting comfortable it seemed.
"So what did you find Seed? Is there actually a gate over there?" She asked quietly. The owl simply pecked at his feathers and then bobbed his head. She smiled giddily and then sped up a little, her black hair falling into her face as she moved closer to where the gate was supposed to be, according to what she had heard around the city.
Then Sibyl turned a corner and was faced with a large black gate at the end of an alley. She grinned giddily and hoped forward, the deeper into the alleyway she got the warmer the air around her felt. "The rumors were true! This would be a great place to just hang out on the really cold nights! Remember that one time where we had to hide in a cave and make that fire to escape the snowstorm? This would have made things so much easier."
Sibyl sat down next to the gate and pulled out a blanket from her backpack, wrapping it around herself and opening it so that seed could snuggle in underneath. For the first time that winter Sibyl felt really nice and warm. Hopefully the rumors about the gate never opening up again were also true because the idea that the gates to hell might just open while she was hanging out next to the made her nervous. It also made her worried the idea that she was just out in the open and people might see her.
"Hey Seed would you be willing to scout the area for me? I kinda wanna take a nap now that we're here." The teen stated with a yawn. The owl seemingly rolled his eyes, but she could tell that he wasn't that annoyed. "Fine but if I get cold I'm coming back and we can swap minds or something and you can go flying around while I sleep." He stated as he flapped his wings a few times before taking off into the air. She giggled as she slumped deeper against the wall and closed her eyes, feeling happy and warmed by the heat given off by the gate.

The night was young and it was no time to be walking around. Selina had been raised to believe such fact. But now, years have passed, and her views have changed. Night was quite another part of her, firstly for her job and secondly... for her own leisure. Walking around at night was pleasing and it was quiet, and while it was quite annoying to be walking around on her own, without any other person with her or someone else to make things interesting (Skylar stayed home, of course -- she couldn't have her familiar walking around like this), she also needed some time to think for herself. So she walked, footsteps faintly resonating across the cement street.
[break][break]She was used to walking around on nights like this, mostly for the missions given to her by Zeredah herself; she's loyal and she isn't one to break the rules of her master, but without missions she doesn't really have anything else to do. Entertaining herself with Skylar wasn't boring, of course, but on nights like this she realizes it's always pleasant to have a walk. Selina's eyes wandered around through the street and still found no one. Her ears pick up the sounds of crickets, but other than that, nothing more.
[break][break]But then she reaches a certain alleyway, and she stops once she sees a flying figure in the shadows; she perks up and sees a bird-like figure, but what it was doing in the night air she wasn't sure. And besides, they were supposed to be in the forests; why would they end up in a large city as this? But she discards those thoughts and turns to the alleyway, that very familiar path she swore she had gone through before.
[break][break]She enters, and the corners of her vision were suddenly enveloped in darkness. Save for the bright orange light coming from a distance straight ahead of her. Suddenly, she realizes where she is, and she can confirm she had been here before. Hell's Gate... it really hasn't changed much when she had met that annoying young woman here. Again, there isn't anyone around but herself.
[break][break]...Or so she thought, but that is until she sees a figure hunched down beside the Gate, blanket around her.
[break][break]Selina raises an eyebrow and smirks. A runaway? A poor girl? It still makes her wonder. The Gate glows a bit, a faint orange, but it still does not strike a cord. Temperature issues, perhaps? She stops a few meters away from the Gate and stares at the girl, an eyebrow quirked with arms crossed.
[break][break]"Do you really expect an old Hell's Gate to provide you with the temperature you direly need? What are you even doing here?"
The brief period of respite was nice. Sibyl curled in on herself as she so often did in the winter and smiled to herself. Meanwhile Seed circled overhead. He saw a woman walking along the street towards where his friend was sleeping, but he thought nothing of it, he was more worried about making sure that no terrors or mutants showed up to harm Sibyl. He liked to belly ache, but there was a reason he followed her out of the woods. Seed would stay in the air all night if that was how long she slept for.
It wasn't though. She was only asleep for maybe five minutes before a voice caused her to jump awake in slight fear.
Sibyl stared at the short girl in front of her and tightened her blanket around herself. The bright blonde hair was in stark contrast to Sibyl's own hair and even with her diminutive frame Sibyl found herself intimidated by the girl in front of her. "What did you say? Sorry I didn't really hear you. I was... thinking about something..." She lied, not at all sounding convincing, but Sibyl had found that people didn't really take kindly to people who live on the street, probably doubly so for those that sleep next to the gates of hell.
Almost as if sensing that something was off Seed did a quick stop intending on just checking in on Sibyl, only to fly over her and see the other girl there as well. He shook his head before diving down to where the two were. He opened his wings at the last second and landed gracefully next to Sibyl just as she finished lying to the other girl about thinking instead of sleeping. "Didn't think that the girl was going to come try and talk to you. She seems nice though." He chirped. Anybody unable to speak with animals would just hear the chirps but instead Sibyl had to listen to him speak.
The black haired teen considered answering her birdy friend, but she didn't want to seem even weirder by answering a bird in what the girl would hear as english. This girl might know something about her brother on some off chance so she was going to try and make a good impression, or at least better than the impression she was already giving off. "I'm Sibyl. Nice to meet you?" She said with slight hesitation.

Selina almost feels insulted with the girl's startled responses. "What did you say"... it already makes her seem like a deaf poor girl who lives in the streets for a reason. Her eyes furrowed and she does not withdraw her arms that were crossed upon first meeting with the girl. A blonde eyebrow quirks up and she sneered. "And here I thought I would find someone interesting for this night." She grumbles, loud enough for the girl to here. Then she looks away and her voice is much more quiet than before. "But instead I end up talking to a girl who didn't here what I said."
[break][break]The spirit sees an owl perch against the young girl's shoulder, and while they engage in what seems to be a conversation (she raises an eyebrow and finds it really weird), the blonde takes the time to analyze the street-laden stranger. She looks to be of her age, but the similarities stop there. Her overall appearance is very, absolutely different from hers, as well as the initial personality she is presented. Overall, there was nothing special about this girl. Only the owl and the mysterious background to her runaway life are the only interesting things about her.
[break][break]The girl turns to her and introduces herself as Sibyl (admittedly, she likes the name, but the rest of her she is absolutely not sure) and declares with a rather uncertain tone that it was nice to meet her. She blinks at her and tilts her head. "...Nice to meet you? Hmm... not really yet." She shrugs and proceeds to walk nearer. "We're strangers to each other, after all. Haven't you considered that?"
[break][break]But she remembers a few rules of princess etiquette, and while she is not a princess of likability, she still acts like one (as she insists she is). One of those few rules was to introduce themselves once a stranger has done it first. An exasperated sigh escapes her lips and she smirks glumly at the young girl, Sibyl. "But I'll give you this rich girl's name. It's Selina." Not much of a grand introduction, but still applicable and enough for a downer to know.
[break][break]Introductions set aside, she eyes the girl up and down and pouts. "So? What are you doing here?" She asks, but whether or not the girl intends on answering, she really doesn't care.
