Amanda's eyes are beautiful, but something in them seems... dead. They're glassy, almost as if they are fake. Beyond the glassiness of her eyes, her face and body language are expressive. She is always moving, always in motion. A slight stiffness here, a hand curled into a claw there; her emotions are always evident and clear. She keeps herself fit - her clothes hide a six-pack - and goes to the gym almost every day after work. Her hair is a deep, dark brown color. Her real name discarded, Enigma re-invented herself as a skinwalker. Beneath the mirror, you can see hints of the reality. Black hair, long and clawed fingers, something macabre and broken. She mirrors those who see her true form; those who see her true form are her victims. Beyond the personality and self that is 'Amanda', she is a shifter. Every creature and being she eats is added to her selection of forms, and she changes them more frequently than people change clothes. | ||||||||||||

Amanda is bright, friendly, and optimistic. She's someone people enjoy being around. She has a silver tongue, which leaves her wonderfully persuasive and able to bring most individuals to her point of view. Like everything, of course, it isn't perfect. Her open, friendly exterior is shattered, however, when she comes across a suspect. In her police work, she is harsh, tough, and commanding. An absolutely domineering presence, she will steamroll others in her attempt to find the Truth. She's also very by-the-book, however, in that she won't break laws or rules to find said truth. Either it's done legitimately, or it's done not at all. | ||||||||||||

Saying that Enigma is a textbook sociopath doesn't quite cover the truth: the fact of the matter is, she is capable of empathy; she has made friends in the past; something in her does care about others. It's just she cares about gaining power far more. If she didn't, she would have never become a skinwalker. She is manipulative, clever, self-centered, goal-oriented, and intensely focused. It isn't maliciousness; it is simply the fact she has a goal she wants to achieve. And since that goal is power, well, most people must be pushed aside in its pursuit. The way Enigma figures it: the gods had to have come from somewhere. And, therefore, there must be a way to become a god. Of course, she's patient. Especially now that she is virtually immortal, she has all the time in the world. She won't be foolhardy and challenge a god; no, instead, she figures the ability will come from knowledge. So knowledge is power, and immortality and power must eventually lead to godhood. It will be ultimate power - and that is, in the end, what Enigma wants. | ||||||||||||

Enigma's skill in shapeshifting is uncanny. She can flow from one form to the other like liquid into a glass, and she does it quite speedily. If there's one thing she's good at, it's shapeshifting. Like all skinwalkers, she can heal extremely quickly as well. Minor injuries she can shake off simply by shifting; more severe carry into separate forms, but nothing lasts longer than a day or two. Unless, of course, the injury is caused by a weapon made of flint or animal product. Bone, horn... she avoids weapons made of it. Funnily enough, however, she has made jewelry from the bones of some of her victims, carefully hidden away. Dancing on this line of danger gives her a sense of power. | ||||||||||||

Amanda lived a privileged life. She had a mother and a father, and as their only child, they spoiled her. Sure, her family wasn't rich, but they were hardly poor, and so she never wanted for anything. It was a good life. But she was not some unaware child living in her tower; no, she saw the injustice around her. And, as such, she thought there must be some way to change things. That was her goal, in the end, and it lead her to police work. Nowadays, she aims to solve the world's problems one day at a time. She keeps herself uninvolved in the battle between the TRS and AP, although like everyone she is impacted by it at times. Instead, she tries to play a neutral party, whose only obligation is her city's law. She fears she won't be able to keep this neutrality up, something only a few of her friends know about. But for now, she can; and for now, it serves her well. | ||||||||||||

Born in the 1600's to an unmarried woman, Enigma found herself in an unfortunate and unlucky limbo. But that didn't matter. She was a conniving child, a clever child, and as soon as she could she broke all ties with the family of her birth and set out to discover her own path. Over time, she learned and she grew. And the thought came to her: what if she tried the technique attempted before? And, like all those who did it before, she failed. She became a skinwalker. But she had been close. She just needed to learn more. Discover more. There was a way to reverse what she had done, and there would also be a way to go above and beyond what anyone else had done... It didn't take long for her to embrace her new state of existence, and now she continues to learn, to discover, knowing and hoping both that she will one day find the equation that leads her to godhood... | ||||||||||||

Enigma eats the flesh she needs every day usually from animals. However, when she can afford it, she 'splurges' and eats the flesh of more sentient beings. This is her preferred diet, but since she doesn't want to get caught she's careful to only do it when she knows she can get away with it. Despite the 'by the book' demeanor, Enigma accepts bribes, namely in the form of secrets and knowledge. However, she doesn't act on these bribes - she accepts the new knowledge, and then promptly continues on her path unhindered. It is more 'Enigma' than 'Amanda'; the false identity is carefully curated, unique, and unsuspicious, but Enigma can be tempted with bribes. | ||||||||||||
