Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Manners were something Nathan oftentimes limited to home use to avoid bothering the benevolent servants who worked for the Beckard family. They were loyal and nowadays, some of the few people who the male vampire could refer to as family members with the early death of his brother. The constant absences of his parents already kicked them out of the running for being even considered potential family members; Nathan despised them in anything. Fortunately, the green-haired man could always find himself pleased with the excellent service the servants of the manner displayed, making Nathan praise them. He would not be daring enough to display his sadistic mask and frighten them away since they were the people who assisted his daily affairs through cooking meals, washing his clothes and tidying the many rooms of the Beckard manor. As Demetria and Nathan entered the expansive basement filled with everything designed for proper combat training for their species, the male vampire stretched. In a simple move, he rolled off his TRS jacket, setting it on the back of the small chair in the corner. The chairs and table were brought down as a break area between practices, and naturally to hold drinks.
[break][break]
The green-haired man brought his arm up, stretching them and listening to several, subtle cracks as he accomplished the action. Compared to when he first joined the TRS, Nathan had built up some lean muscle through a steady exercising in hopes of impressing his boyfriend. While the male vampire could hardly care about the opinions of other individuals, Tristan carried enough significance for him to care. A sigh escaped his mouth at Demetria's insistence to fight; he wanted to begin somewhere other than sparring. Once he finished stretching, he dismissively waved his hand towards her.
[break][break]
"Calm down, will ya? We're not starting at sparring," he stated, leaning against a wall. "Tell me what experience you have in fighting. Then I know where I can start."
[break][break]
Some explanation sounded like an excellent location to start, especially since Nathan desired to know if Demetria was a worthy sparring partner. Either way, the male vampire wanted to judge her capability in her abilities before launching himself headlong into outright sparring. After a few moments, the servant came downstairs, a silver tray balanced on his hand with two plastic bottles set on the surface. The liquid inside was a diluted red colouring, making it obvious that animal blood was placed inside. Blood, the key to a vampire's abilities, would definitely be required in some quantity for training. There were plenty of reserves of blood as a result, the servants knowing very well that Nathan's occupation relied heavily on his abilities in fighting and his blood manipulation, which needed the red nectar as fuel.
Demetria had noticed Nathan stretching but she hadn't bothered doing the same. Since she never sparred before she never thought of it as being great importance. In fact the only time she bothered exercising was when she was walking somewhere, she just didn't see the importance behind it since she was already flat like a board. It wasn't like she needed to become any thinner, of course exercising could help build up muscle too, but it hadn't crossed her mind as a top priority. She had prepared herself to start sparring only to be halted when he had raised his hand, listening to his words made her huff. "Why don't you come over here and find out?" She countered, finding this questioning game a huge waste of time. Of course when it seemed like Nathan didn't plan on doing so, she just sighed.
"None. I don't view wrestling as counting, nor slapping stupid flirtatious boys. How about you help me gain some?" She countered, annoyed that she had to answer what she deemed as a stupid question to begin with. "Oh wait, I almost forgot." She withdrew her gun to show him, "Got any targets or a can or something?" If he really wanted her to show off her skill, she'd gladly do it for him. When she heard a noise, she hid the gun behind her back, watching as the servant brought a silver tray with two plastic bottles on top of it. She'd wait for the servant to leave before resuming her point in showing Nathan that she could in fact shoot the target, the only reason why it didn't work out was because she had lost too many bullets.
After years of being affiliated with the TRS, Nathan learned a variety of tricks and significant traditions to accomplish prior to performing sparring or all sorts of training. While he never stretched for extensive periods of time, he would borrow a brief moment to prepare his muscles for the upcoming action. The male vampire spaced his feet, allowing for each of his legs to receive a brief stretch before he turned to properly face Demetria. A neutral expression held his countenance as he regarded the female vampire, once again analyzing her. Based on the actions she desired to take, the redhead was feisty and prepared to prove herself in the field of combat, however, Nathan wanted to provide her with some basic training and performance tests before launching into their duel. The retort to his inquiries resulted in the male vampire raising a brow, his gaze only drifting to watch the servant elegantly place the silver tray on the table. He bowed before leaving, Nathan merely providing a nod of thanks before fixating his attention on Demetria. She appeared keen on entirely skipping the basic fundaments of combat, suggesting she was possibly in a rush to learn her main desire, blood manipulation.
[break][break]
An irritated sigh escaped Nathan's lips as he turned away, opening one of the water bottles specifically marked as type O RH- blood; the servants knew it was his favourite. He purposefully delayed answering her question, allowing her to proceed. When she mentioned the gun and withdrew her chosen weapon, Nathan finally swallowed his beverage before placing it off to the side of the tray.
[break][break]
"The point of a starting lesson is me assessing what you know, not outright sparring and kicking your ass," Nathan explained bluntly, a slight conceited nature to his tone. "Anyways, sure. We will see what your aim is like."
[break][break]
The green-haired man gestured for her to follow as he rounded a wall which revealed a small shooting range fitted with both stationary and moving targets. While the men in the household preferred the more brutal approach, Nathan's mother was classy, instead preferring firearms and blood manipulation for her defence; she found brawling to be barbaric. There was no permission asked as the male vampire walked over to the controls, flicking a switch so the targets would begin to move.
[break][break]
"If your aim is so great, then try this," he stated with a smirk.
[break][break]
Afterwards, he leaned against the wall near the controls, prepared to watch the moving targets; he wanted to see how many she could hit. While Demetria stated she wished to test her skills on a target or can, but there was nothing stating the target needed to be stationary.
Demetria watched him pick up the bottle before drinking from it. Unlike him, she wasn't in a rush even if it was necessary for vampires to drink blood. She would wait until later before picking up the other bottle. "What ever." She answered to him claiming he'd kick her ass. She couldn't believe that he thought to highly of himself, but then again, she was determined as ever to not let him win even if it was just a sparring contest. When he had gestured for her to follow him she quickly followed after him. She noticed the the moving targets, smirking slightly. As soon as it seemed like he had given permission for her to start, she was quick to start firing at the targets. Some went in the chest or stomach area. Though she wasn't missing her targets, she found herself having to shoot at them more than one time since that is how the terrors acted when she had fired at them as well. It was as if the bullet had no effect or it wasn't strong enough to kill them in the first place. As soon as she ran out of bullets, she was quick to retrieve some more from her bag, as soon as her gun was loaded she started firing again.
It wasn't good enough to hit the target, no, she needed him to see how fast she was with reloading. It benefited to be a vampire, if she didn't have her speed it would take longer for her to reload her gun. There wasn't much effort in trying to aim her gun at the targets as she fired, already knowing where she wanted to aim the gun, purposely shooting them in the chest, stomach area. If it hadn't been clear before, those weren't failed shots, they were fired in those areas on purpose because she thought that was the best place to hit them. Terrors, they are strange creatures that I don't know enough about. If I was dealing with other vampires or any other species it would be easy to figure out the best way to take them down. As for terrors I feel like sometimes they fall down and sometimes they don't, it seriously is a hit and miss when I try and shoot them down. However blood manipulation seemed to do a lot of damage against them. That is a reason why I want to learn it so badly.
She thought to herself, finishing the round she would once more reload her gun before aiming at the targets. "Did you want me to continue?" She was prepared to fire at the targets but would wait for him to say to keep going else she would cease her firing for now. Seeing no point in wasting anymore bullets even if it was an example of her strength.
The smirk remained evident on Nathan’s face as he waited for Demetria to proceed with her skill demonstration. He wanted to thoroughly judge her capability with firearms, especially considering it appeared to be her primary defence and offence. Alas, there were a variety of combat skills Nathan was required to teach her. The lessons the green-haired teen desired to teach included skills in enhancements and eventually, blood manipulation, although, he planned to leave what Demetria wanted to learn for the final lesson. It appeared to be the crucial desire for her teaching, resulting in Nathan deciding it would be the final lesson. Once the male vampire gave her the go-ahead, everything started with a series of loud bangs. Bullets propelled from the barrel of the gun, sinking deep into the stomachs and chest of the human-shaped targets. After a few moments, Nathan’s brow raised in pleasant surprise as a small, lip tight smile crept onto his face. It was evident Demetria places plenty of effort into perfecting her aim with a gun, furthermore, displaying intellect in shooting for the torso opposed to the head; the head was difficult to shoot the target. It suggested she could perhaps be an excellent pupil for blood manipulation, but Nathan wished to push her further; he wanted to see how fast she could go.
[break][break]
A cacophony of bangs continued, bullets embedding themselves into the paper and wooden holders. When Demetria ceased and inquired about proceeding, Nathan paused for a moment before pushing off the wall. The machine was stopped, targets going motionless as Nathan opened the gate to enter the area.
[break][break]
“You’re a good shot,” Nathan commented, analyzing the evidence. “Want a challenge? I can make this machine go faster. If you are worried about bullets, we have a gun you can borrow. Either way, if you keep training yourself with a firearm, you would have a good weapon for if you run out of energy.”
[break][break]
Gradually, Nathan ripped off the papers covers and tossed them aside before beginning to grab new ones. On each target, he poked the nails through with ease to secure the paper. Afterwards, he turned around and left through the gate, his gaze turning to his apprentice.
[break][break]
“Do you want to challenge yourself, or do you want to learn something else? He inquired, deciding to get a certain answer. “If we stay here, I will speed up the targets movements until you reach the maximum speed, otherwise I just teach you basic stuff.”
[break][break]
The alternative was heading to the main area and teaching basic techniques based around the enhancements a vampire possessed. This consisted of subtle speed movements, full sprints and how to properly punch should it be needed. He wanted her to learn to dodge and defend herself properly, but wanted to make certain everything was accomplished accordingly. However, there was a consideration to possibly sparring against Demetria should she handle the basics easily.
Demetria watched Nathan push off the wall, the machine went motionless before he went inside. She was somewhat pleased to hear him compliment her. A smirk had formed on her face when he asked if she wanted a challenge, all he had to do was say so. "I don't mind borrowing a fire arm or using this one." She answered, more than interesting in trying out one of his next. She watched him rip the papers covers off before replacing them. Once he exited the area, she couldn't help but have a smirk on her face. "I love a good challenge." She answered him back, more than willing to take him up on it. Of course I'm also curious on what else you think you have in store for me. Though if you think speeding the targets up will be fast enough, you have another thing coming. She shook her head slightly, chuckling. "I could have you speed them up, but they aren't fast enough. Though frankly you might be."
Despite her dare, she didn't point the gun at him, not believing him to take her up on the challenge anyway. Or I could learn the basic stuff.... I think my idea sounded like much more fun.... and unlike the targets, he'll make sure I don't hit him. Since she honestly didn't think he would take her up on the offer, she put her gun back in the hostler. "Basic training is next, huh?" She asked, ready to move on from this area. Well shooting those targets was fun well it lasted and it gave me great pleasure to hear him compliment me. I suppose there is a first time for everything. She thought to herself, quite pleased with how this training was going, for now.
Admittedly, Nathan was mildly impressed with his apprentice’s capabilities in firearms, thus his desires to push her abilities further, however, Demetria possessed other plans. The challenge she provided resulted in the male vampire glancing over, eyebrows raised in consideration, but another thought lingered in his mind. While the green-haired man was certain he could smoothly complete the challenge with ease, a wary “what if” entered his mind about his precious boyfriend. There were no doubts Nathan was fast, but unnecessary injuries could result in Tristan becoming worried or frightened; a single bullet in the wrong spot could be a deadly price. Should he perish in a ridiculous training exercise, who would protect his beloved blond from his vicious father? The abusive man was somebody Nathan would not permit to be within miles of Tristan's vicinity if he could; if warranted the opportunity, the male vampire would murder the deplorable excuse for a father. Unfortunately, altercations with the law would be difficult to handle, and being around for Tristan felt far more important.
[break][break]
He needed to avoid injury and a jail sentence in order to protect his beloved boyfriend, especially since he never inquired his parents about Tristan staying. There was no possibly Nathan would risk him being kicked out of the house considering the horrible condition of his home life.
[break][break]
"Heh, not happening. Besides, I'm so fast you wouldn't hit a shot. I wouldn't want to embarrass you after all," Nathan answered arrogantly.
[break][break]
There was a quick nod provided when Demetria mentioned basic training, the male vampire walking towards the open area. After leaving the shooting range, Nathan spared a moment to take a quick sip from the water bottle before turning around. He spared a moment to glance over the redhead before gesturing for Demetria to walk into the center of the room.
[break][break]
"Okay, let's see. What would you do if a razor rushed you?" Nathan began.
[break][break]
He was curious about the ideas Demetria would plan when it arrived at a basic question. Fortunately, the green-haired vampire could pretend to be a razor when the time arrived. First, he wanted to analyze the redhead's thought process before getting to the nitty-gritty and speed/strength tests. Eventually, the time would arrive for a proper sparring match, which was a pleasant thought for Nathan after witnessing the incredible capability the redhead possessed.
Demetria just grinned at him. "Keep telling yourself that, pretty boy. You know that I'd hit you... So I don't blame you for not accepting." She answered him back, so sure that she could indeed hit him if given the chance. Of course she could understand why he wouldn't want to take up the challenge. "I think your only saying it because you'd be embarrassed to wear a suit that would protect you from my bullets.... or maybe you fear it would be too heavy and slow you down?" She laughed at the idea of him being worried about fashion sense. When the subject changed to the next lesson, Nathan had gestured for her to follow after him. She stopped in the center of the room, confused on why he wanted her to stand right there.
The question had caught her off guard, she had to remind herself which Terror the razor looked like so that she could give him the best answer. "Move out of the way and shoot at it." She was limited on what all she could do. "Unless it was necessary to be close to it, I would keep my distance." If somebody else is at risk, I would be forced to get in the way of the blow. I know that I can heal, despite a limit. There is no telling how many people would die instead of heal, or be able to protect themselves from such a nasty creature. She thought to herself, smirking slightly. "Unless I mastered blood manipulation, because I'd used it to my advantage to get in close."
End of thread will continue when I am able to write up A Wall of Woes. <3

There was an arrogant smirk stretched across Nathan's lips when Demetria stated otherwise to his statement about her being unable to shoot him. The male vampire already knew he could dodge all of the redhead's bullets, or at least he believed he could, he merely desired to maintain the happiness of his beloved boyfriend; Tristan did not deserve being stressed should Demetria get lucky! Before possessing a significant other to provide love and mutually receive, the green-haired man would be leaping at the opportunity to prove his superiority among his comrades. In the male vampire's mind, Demetria was fortunate that Nathan's immense care for Tristan kept him from accepting her foolish challenge; he would obviously reign victorious! There would not require the use of a bulky protective vest considering he was plenty capable to survive an intense duel between himself and a gun. He had accomplished it numerous times when placed on the battlefield against the Assembly and he was certain he could have done it during a training exercise, alas, the possibility of worrying Tristan remained too heavy a burden for Nathan to risk it.
[break][break]
"Oh please, I wouldn't even need protective equipment since I would obviously win," he arrogantly responded. "I am seriously just refusing to not embarrass you."
[break][break]
He listened attentively when Demetria answered his question regarding the terror before providing a brief nod. At the mention of getting in close proximity of a razor, Nathan shrugged. There was no harm should someone be in control of their speed enough to weave around the quickly paced attacks of the terror.
[break][break]
"Not recommended, but you're pretty quick I imagine," he began before a devilish smirk touched his lips. "We should test your speed..."
[break][break]
There was one nasty contraption in the training basement of the Beckard Manor, Nathan despising it whenever Donovan decided to use it on him. The large area was specially designed with various implements, one was to have a wall slide out from the floors very quickly. When a vampire was running, the wall was difficult to notice on account of how excellent it fit into its slot on the floor, but nonetheless useful for testing reaction times. There was a brief time where Nathan left to set up the equipment, refusing to let Demetria into the control room should she try; he hoped she would use the time to stretch.
