Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Phoenix watched Octavio curiously, there was a reason why he enjoyed his friendship. He just hadn't realized till now how funny he could be when his life depended on it. He laughed when Octavio snapped at him, not once he had gone out of his way to attack Octavio, though it seemed his friend was determined to kill him. It was too bad that it would take a whole lot more effort on his part if he planned on killing him off. Octavio lunged towards him, he side stepped out of the way, taking care to avoid being slashed again. "Too slow...." He kept walking backward as he dodged the attacks Octavio threw towards him. "If you need a break, that is fine. I'll just go over there, out of sight, out of mind." He answered, having a smirk on his face because he knew there was no way in hell Octavio was going to chance letting him out of his sight. He proved that already with his recklessness to once more be tricked in the first place. "Your funny when your angry.... if I had known, I would have caused you grief earlier..." He teased, not wanting Octavio to figure out that he planned on keeping his secret.
The last thing he wanted was for his friend to question why this stranger wouldn't tell his secret, he didn't want him figure out who was behind the cloak. "You should distance yourself from me.... I'm not interested in girls... I don't want anybody mistaking that fact." Was he taken, hell yes, but he was making the comment to bug the shit out of Octavio, unlike his friend, he was having one hell of a blast. Once more he would side step out of the way, shame on him for getting slashed once, shame on me for getting slashed twice. Come now Octavio, you can do soooooo much better than this. He thought to himself, focusing his efforts on dodging the attacks over out running him or blocking. "Are you sure your goal is to kill me? I mean... it is only a secret, right?" He teased, still moving backwards.
I'll need to create a healing hex, once I'm farther away from him. He thought to himself, with a huge smirk on his lips. "Tell me, how do you plan on getting your toys back with me dead? Sneaking in, while trying to avoid detection should be fun...." He was having too much fun with this, knowing Octavio would be so pissed off, if only he knew who was under the cloak, the hex.
Clenched tightly in Octavio’s hand was the remaining dagger while his pistol was strapped to his thigh. Two weapons and a single target to dispose of, although, the target was problematic. The cloaked man already proved to be capable, even managing to lead Octavio into several traps. Matters were worsened from the redhead’s emotional state, anger conquering his mind an clouding his judgement. There was a single objective that the Puppet Master was determined to achieve, which was to murder this man in hopes of keeping his identity a secret. Nobody could gain the knowledge of his identity unless Octavio could devote all trust into them.
The possibility of traitors among the Assembly and his own tense feelings made it difficult to provide people with the truth behind the Puppet Master. People talked, changed opinions and made decisions, most being complex and unpredictable which made it impossible for Octavio to trust anyone thoroughly. Desperation was high, the redhead thoroughly aware of the consequences he would face should he not properly dispose of this stranger. Laughter escaped the figure's mouth at his words and shortly afterwards the statement about him being too slow. In the instance, Octavio felt mocked considering how the stranger teased him, as though this was all a game. The redhead's green eyes narrowed into a glare at the mysterious man, despising how he had the audacity to ask if he needed a break.
In that break, his enemy could escape, thus Octavio had no plans to warrant himself the idiotic luxury. The longer the stranger talked, the more aggravated that the Puppet Master would become. The temporary Assembly soldier wanted nothing more, but to dispose of this man who managed to catch a glimpse of his face. He ran forward, slashing his knife towards the stranger.
"SHUT UP!" He screamed, beyond annoyed with the stranger's mockery.
The slashing grew faster when the mysterious figure proceeded to state he was not interested in girls. A low growl of annoyance escaped Octavio's throat as he pushed himself further in hopes of managing to damage the pesky man. Being reminded about his current feminine appearance was vexing, especially considering the redhead was certain Jaxx did not like girls. This "disguise" would ruin his chances entirely with the incredible golem who fortunately came his way. As the teasing continued, his eyes narrowed further, Octavio feeling enraged that the stranger would continue this pointless mockery.
"AN IMPORTANT SECRET! NOW LET ME FUCKING KILL YOU!" Octavio screamed, continuing to slash wildly at the stranger.
While his attacks appeared mostly fruitless, the redhead proceeded with the intention of defeating his opponent. The mentioning of his dolls who were forcefully abandoned in the building only increased his anger. His determination to kill the stranger increased, the Puppet Master placing more energy into his swings, but naturally, the "fighting" would take a toll. Gradually, Octavio began to tire because of his reckless slashes and the immense amount of running in the chase.
Phoenix would walk backwards as he dodged the attacks, somewhat surprised that Octavio had failed to notice that the only one attacking was himself, not once had he done it to him in return. The slight of Octavio being determined to kill him was proving to be rather amusing. The more Octavio yelled at him, the more amused he was in the long run with him. "Temper.... temper.... I never dreamed of having to kill you." He countered, still backing away from him, finding this game still amusing. Octavio appeared to be going slower and he couldn't help but sigh slightly. "If that was such a big deal, you wouldn't have let it fall off in the first place." He answered, advancing towards Octavio, he attempted to steal the dagger from out of his hand. He would then reach his hand out, attempting to push against Octavio's hand to force him to walk backwards. "Then of course your reckless attitude is going to wind up getting you killed...." He found himself lecturing his friend, trying to get him to understand the importance of why he couldn't just go around without thinking of those consequences first.
"If you had really wanted to kill me.... You wouldn't have been tricked so many times." He kept with the lecture, hopefully it would become clear to Octavio that he didn't have any plans to kill him. Perhaps that was a bad thing on Phoenix's part, but Octavio was too important to let die just because he was too emotional to think straight. "As flattering as it may be, that you are determined to kill me. I say pass." It may have been deemed as mockery but he'd show Octavio that he meant business. He broke the hex, allowing Octavio to be transformed back into a boy. It seemed the time had come for him to make his escape instead of playing around with his friend, but first he would have to return him back to his dolls. "The real question is, are you going to take the easy or hard way?" He would wait for that answer as he debated on how he would go about creating that hex to teleport them back, with or without Octavio's permission.
Anger was overpowering for Octavio, overwhelming his other emotions while he slashed at the stranger. There was somebody who saw his face, therefore, they needed to promptly meet their demise. Under normal circumstances, the Puppet Master would avoid being reckless, but without the mask, he risked being arrested and struggling as an informant. There was also the haunting possibility of being required to rely on another individual; to allow them to close where they could discover secrets. While his target merely defended himself, Octavio proceeded to wildly slash in a desperate hope of hitting his mark. Unfortunately, his attacks consistently failed as the figure dodged, becoming amused by their game. Nonetheless, the redhead continued his assault, placing more effort into his swinging, however, he was growing tired. The mocking proceeded, the stranger commenting on his temper, increasing the inner rage. A single objective became Octavio’s fixation, which was to successfully murder this meddlesome stranger.
The rash swinging proceeded, the comment about not allowing the mask to fall increasing the fury in the redhead’s swings. Nobody was supposed to witness the Puppet Master without his beloved mask! Citizens were to be terrified by the mask, not the face beneath. During his reckless slashing, he suddenly felt the hand of his enemy break the dagger from his grip. Hastily, Octavio pulled away, glaring at the stranger proceeded to lecture him. The statement towards consequences and the possibility of death resulted in the redhead rolling his eyes beneath his mask as he glares. There was something about the lecture that bored the Puppet Master since he believed disposing of the stranger being important. Somebody was aware of his appearance and therefore deserved to face his wrath to avoid the misfortune of RCMP and TRS knowing his identity.
"YOU KNOWING MY IDENTITY MEANS DEATH!" Octavio screamed, the figure irritating him.
The notions of being tricked were immediately ignored, the redhead merely desiring to murder the menace to his identity. As the mockery proceeded, rage blinding the Puppet Master's actions, he rushed forward. Granting the mysterious individual an easier escape, Octavio deciding to tackle the stranger. There were few frightening features to the Puppet Master, but he fancied taking a moment to punch his enemy. Should he succeed, he planned to embrace a brutish side of attacking because of his extreme anger towards the stranger.
Phoenix couldn't help but smirk slightly when Octavio had advanced towards him, once more he would step away from him. It didn't matter how much Octavio would try, he wasn't about to let him harm him, not again. Not when Yves likely felt it earlier.... he didn't need any calls or text messages right this moment, so it would be best to end this before Octavio got any other ideas. "As much fun as it would be to watch you try and kill me, I'm going to declare a rain check." He wasn't giving Octavio the chance to delay this any further. He withdrew his own dagger to cut his hand once more as he moved around to create another teleportation hex. If he jumps me, I'll take him along for the ride. If he doesn't, that will suck to be him. He thought to himself, slipping the dagger back into his pocket.
He had only one reason why he didn't just use Octavio's dagger. The boy might get clever and try a dna test on the blood and he couldn't have him figuring out who he was, it was bad enough that he held the dagger in his hand as long as he had only moments prior. A temptation to touch his dagger when he knows who I am.... just to confuse the hell out of him, but how am I going to get away with that? Oh I know, I'll improvise. He readied himself to use the teleporation hex, despite Octavio being right there. For two reasons, he didn't want him knowing that he invited him along for the ride and two, he didn't want him questioning why he wanted him to tag along. I can't just leave you here, buddy. He thought to himself, still amused at how much Octavio took in attempting to attack him. "Well it sucks to be you because this is the day, you almost killed me." He teased, hoping that would be enough encouragement for Octavio to come at him again.
The intense emotions of anger continued to flow through Octavio's veins, causing his fixation to be solely on the feelings. There was a violence to his irritation, increasing his determination to murder the individual who witnessed his face. The emotions were overwhelming, distracting the redhead from the fact the stranger removed the disguise hex, allowing him to appear as the male gender again. Unfortunately, the Puppet Master could not simply allow the nuisance to escape his grasp easily, especially when he remained aware of the crucial secret. Options were limited, he needed to dispose of the pest promptly to avoid damages to his secret identity and informant duties. Behind the mask, Octavio's green eyes narrowed as the stranger mockingly stated how he would declare a rain check; it felt like an insult to the seriousness of the situation.
"I AM GOING TO KILL YOU," Octavio exclaimed.
Only a few moments after the comment did Octavio watch his foe drag a separate dagger, the blade digging into the stranger's flesh. Blood poured onto the roof, the redhead pausing as he realized his opponent was creating another hex. After being lead into several hex related traps, the Puppet Master was hesitant to venture into another one. The Assembly soldier's body stiffened, eye fixating on the mysterious individual as he contemplated how to go about his pursuit. Allowing the stranger to simply leave was out of the question, but Octavio was concerned about possibly becoming trapped in a prison from his recklessness; should that occur, people could easily unlock the cage and force the mask off. Unfortunately, the Puppet Master was still fuming from the earlier mocking provided by the obnoxious stranger, thus the teasing was bothersome. Should he get trapped he was screwed, but that would become the case either way, would it not?
The redhead clenched his fists tightly, allowing for his anger to recklessly lead him in a desperate attempt to accomplish defeating the stranger. There was little hesitation as his hand reached for the gun strapped to his thigh, Octavio lifting it as he closed the distance, hoping the stranger would not possess another way out.
Phoenix couldn't help but smirk at Octavio. He was just so determined for one that wanted to keep his secret well, a secret. Instead of giving him a comment in return, he had cut his hand with another dagger before creating another hex circle. One meant for the purpose of teleporation. He had tried tempting Octavio to step closer to stop him but his friend had pulled a gun out on him instead. Then I have no choice. He thought to himself, he would advance Octavio, forcing the dagger back into his hand. The goal was to confuse the hell out of Octavio for giving the dagger back to him. He knew he risked getting shot or stabbed, but he was too busy trying to grab Octavio's wrists to try and pull him into the circle by force. If he managed to do so, they would be teleported back into the closet that Octavio had left his dolls in. The very same ones that he had used to try and trap Phoenix with so that he could kill him.
Now that you have your dolls back, it is time for us to part ways.... He knew as soon as he got home he would need to use a healing hex on himself but he wasn't about to do that with Octavio following after him. Since you are tired. I think I'll have an easier time getting away. All I need to do is out run you. He thought to himself, once more running towards the stair case. There is only two ways he can catch up to me, he would have to meet me on the bottom or he would have to follow right behind me. He thought to himself, before exiting the stairwell so that he would be on the second floor. It would be a whole lot easier to escape from a lower floor, despite it being easier for Octavio as well. He would go into a room, closing the door behind himself before creating fire in his hands.
He started a fire right by the door so that it would block anybody from coming in from that direction. That just left the window, he knew what the dolls were capable. Which meant the only way out was another hex, this time he wouldn't be taking Octavio on the ride. Once more he pulled his dagger out, slashing his hand before creating another teleportation circle.
A glare settled onto Octavio's brow as he stared down the gun, finger hovering over the trigger as he aimed the weapon. Once the stranger was disposed of, the redhead's identity would be protected and under safeguard. Time appeared to slow as the Puppet Master rushed forward, aiming, and mentally preparing himself to pull the trigger, only to receive a surprise. Abruptly, the dagger was shoved towards him, forcing Octavio to stagger to grab the dagger instead of risking injury. Narrowly, the redhead managed to get a grip on the hilt of the dagger, the spontaneous action perplexed the Assembly informant. Eventually, the trigger was squeezed tight, a loud bang echoing through the air as a bullet launched from the barrel, although, the aim was questionable because of the earlier confusion. Suddenly, something gripped his wrists, pulling him into the blood circle.
The nature of the action resulted in Octavio attempting to resist the pull, but the momentum of running provided his opponent with the advantage. A simple tugged resulted in the redhead stumbling into the circle, a light suddenly emanated the pattern and consuming them. Anger transcended over the Puppet Master as he was provided with no choice, but to be teleported by another hex. They reappeared in the closet from prior, the Assembly informant remembering the location and advantage it served on account of his presence. When the figure exited the closet, the dolls stood, obeying the commands of their master who was generously returned to them. Octavio rose to his feet, slipping through the exit before chasing the stranger down the hallway. A tight grip was given to the dagger, the redhead aiming to fire another shot in the cloaked figure's direction in hopes of hitting him.
A growl escaped Octavio's throat when the mysterious man turned to head down the stairs. There was no hesitation as the Puppet Master rushed forward, pushing the heavy double doors to allow his dolls to surge forward. The creatures were quick, jumping down the stairs and skipping several in the process. Once inside the stairwell, the Puppet Master ran down the flights of stairs, his weariness making both himself and his dolls clumsier than expected. Once Octavio arrived at the floor the figure was on, he rushed through the hallway, only pausing when he noticed the accumulating smoke. The redhead glanced around the floor, listening to the sudden screeching of fire alarms as sprinkler systems would be released. There was a pause as the Puppet Master considered his options, but should he not evacuate the vicinity now, he would be blamed and possibly captured. Unfortunately, his identity was at risk, thus he continued forward and located the door where the fire was most dense.
An arm was brought to his mouth, the dolls remaining close to his master's feet. Slowly, Octavio inched closer to the door, landing a sturdy kick near the doorknob. Another kick proceeded and after a few moments, the door flung open with a loud thump. Inside the room, the redhead noticed his target and began trying to devise a way to get through the flames before it was too late. Should he be unsuccessful, his identity could be revealed and he would be forced to retreat to Aria.
Phoenix quickly walked around the room as he created the circle with his blood, he had returned his dagger back into his cloak pocket when he heard the door being kicked. He moved to stand in the circle just as the door had been kicked once more and Octavio had broken into the room. It seemed to him that Octavio was determined to kill him, too bad for him that rain check hadn't been an option. "Leave the building, do it now." He finished his warning, activating the teleportation circle. He couldn't help but feel a little pang of guilt that he had chosen to not tell Octavio who he really was. Not that his friend needed to know this, but he planned on taking his identity to his grave as his friend had intended for him. Of course this wouldn't happen right now, he had plenty to do before his death would arrive. Once he was a safe distance away from the the business buildings, he would head home before removing the cloak and hex that he had placed over himself. At least now, Octavio wouldn't know who it was that saw his face, of course it could cause trouble later if his friend was determined to search him out.
A wall of flames warded Octavio away from the room, the man hesitant to cross the threshold. After the horde prior to this situation, the Puppet Master was hesitant to get burnt again; his hand throbbed at the mere thought. He glares beyond the fire, watching the stranger proceed to peacefully finish his hex. The redhead was aggravated, his attempts to murder the cloaked man who discovered his identity failed spectacularly. While the mysterious man prepared to teleport away, Octavio listened to his insistence to leave. The redhead’s hands clenched in a tight fist; he already knew to escape! When fluorescent light consumed the man, his figure deteriorated to be summoned to another hex, Octavio shouted a series of angry swears. Due to the person’s escape, his identity was entirely at risk. The fire proceeded to expand, the redhead turning away and having his dolls follow a few feet before grabbing them from the floor and putting them safely into his pockets.
The Puppet Master weaves through the hallways of the building with a smooth grace. Several departments would arrive later, thus there was haste to his steps; he would be in danger if the RCMP were among them. After a few moments, he discovered a window and slammed his elbow into the glass. It shattered easily, suggesting fragility from age. Without hesitation, Octavio valued through the window, earning himself a few minor cuts. Once free from the building, he fled the area, dodging vehicles and lights. The missing dagger was retrieved and afterwards, the Puppet Master disappeared into the night.
