Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
[attr="class","hearmenand2"]Anxiety orbited around Malakai’s mind as he gradually opened the threshold to the small room where the lessons were conducted. He believed behind the door would perhaps be disappointed faces as a result of the bespectacled man’s endless pessimism. When he managed to open the door, the field medic discovered a man with a dark complexion with recognizable facial features. There was vague familiarity with peculiarly clad higherup which entered through the threshold. While his knowledge about the person in question was limited, Malakai knew of the doctor, albeit, through small details passed down by a few people. A clipboard was in his hands, suggesting there were details written down of perhaps the training session considering the man’s timely arrival. While Malakai was admittedly curious, he kept his mouth shut and refused to snoop on the contents the clipboard held. The man’s presence in the meagre meeting room where the lessons were conducted was surprising. While he heard prominently of the intellectual doctor, he imagined him being placed elsewhere in the medical ward where his intelligence could be placed to the most beneficial use.
As the doctor entered, a single inquiry left his lips, but he appeared more fixated on Jamie and Manirak rather than the bespectacled man who opened the door. While the infamous Dr. Rana proceeded to interact with the pair, Malakai inched back, moving away from the door slightly to avoid being in the way. Silently, the field medic watched, not bothering to answer the question. There was no longer a crutch to assist with the bespectacled man’s apprehension of social engagements. Hope had been evident when Jamie controlled his emotions, solely because of Malakai’s inner nervousness; he could only imagine the stumbling mess he would return to. Merely thinking about it kept the field medic’s eyes locked with the tiled floor, analyzing the subtle textures while attempting to soothe the slight palpitations in his heart created from fear. The admired Dr. Rana was a higher up, and the evident monitoring of their lesson suggested the possibility the perfectionist could receive critical feedback for his failures in teaching. The nearly unbearable weight of negative criticism weighed heavily on Malakai's mind, his nerves reacting accordingly as a tense feeling affected the back of his neck.
The timorous impression remained, increasing when the doctor suddenly called out Manirak's name, pronouncing it with precision. Evidently, it appeared Dr. Rana had been observing them closely, which was rather off-putting to Malakai; were all lessons scrutinized thoroughly? The cameras were sensible on account of possible Assembly of Phantoms invasions or incidents in the medical ward, but acquiring their use to observe a mere apprenticing lesson was unexpected. Presumably, it would be a result from their unexpected guest, but Malakai was always under the impression scouts viewed the footage considering their natural skills in observantness. The bashful man's eyes remained locked with the ground as he sucked back his lower lip to quietly chew on his lower lip. His arms crossed over his stomach while he proceeded to quietly listen to the interaction, uncertain if he should voice his presence. There were confirmations when the trio interacted, Dr. Rana formally mentioning how the lesson was an improvement compared to the previous; which was a slight relief for the perfectionist.
Eventually, his presence was noticed, the bespectacled subtly jumping in response to his name being exclaimed. Slowly, his head lifted to glance anxiously at the doctor before providing a small nod. Silently, he watched as everybody else began filing out of the room, Malakai's hazel eyes trained on the door. The pause from his apprentice followed by the farewell caught the field medic's attention quickly.
"Goodbye..." He answered softly before the door clicked close.
An anxious sigh escaped Malakai lips as he turned towards the bland tables, eyes fixating on the closed folder which held the information about his apprentice. He was warned before accepting the mentoring responsibility through the provided data, but his nervousness kept him from opening the contents until earlier today. The walk back towards the table was slow, Malakai sitting in one of the chairs provided. The resilient leathery cushions made for little comfort as he hunched over, propping his elbow on the table to rest his chin in. Slowly, he opened the folder again to briefly read over the information which should have allowed him to surmise the possibility of Jamie using his empathic manipulation during the lessons, however, there appeared to be no malice behind the actions. There were traits provided Malakai lacked in terms of teaching, most specifically confidence and reassurance he could accomplish it with success, thus he wondered if his apprentice was merely attempting to benevolently assist in the lesson's progression.
Bottles of potions remained on the table, Malakai turning his attention to the folder, trying to sway his own opinion in a single direction; he was conflicted. Somebody needed to teach Jamie, especially considering field medics were crucial for the survival of the TRS. The reason the bespectacled man joined was to assist with any shortages, thus why he allowed people to move him around as needed; even going to lengths to assist other units or inside the ward. They needed people to fixate on the path of healing to allow hunters, scouts and occasionally other medics to complete their objectives. After a few moments, the door creaked open, Malakai's gaze instinctively flitting towards it to watch the entrance of Dr. Rana. The folder was promptly closed to fixate on the conversation, the bespectacled man's nerves began mildly exhibiting themselves through his avoidance of Dr. Rana's eye contact. His hands clasped together, resting on his lap while his right hand roughly rubbing the top of the left; another subtle sign of his anxieties kicking in during the instance.
The bluntness behind Dr. Rana's words in regards to his training capabilities resulted in Malakai flinching, however, he could never deny the claims; social interaction was evidently still a struggle. There was silence from the bespectacled man as the doctor proceeded, surprise briefly touching his face with the manner of which he referred to Jamie. The subject made everything sounded professional, but strange considering he would expect the usual title calls followed by the individual's first name (if necessary) and surname, however, the field medic believed the possibility of reading too far into the words being used. A paper was held, stating their interactions could be recorded with his handwritten signature of compliance. While the bespectacled man had agreed, he still expected scouts to watch opposed to the doctor himself. Were these common occurrences in mentoring, or was there more to Jamie that he was unaware of? The inquiry regarding his apprentice resulted in Malakai's attention returning to Dr. Rana.
There was a brief pause as Malakai though of the proper words and mustered the few shreds of confidence he had. "Well... he seems like an... okay k-kid... I believe he may have... um... tried to h-help me?"
There was a vagueness to Malakai's words as he attempted to explain his opinion while his feelings conflicted. He wanted to assist the TRS by proceeding the training, but the bespectacled man remained uncertain. However, he easily remembered how both Jamie and Dr. Rana had stated the lessons did better than previous which made Malakai wonder if, miraculously, he had been the correct choice. Alas, the bashful field medic continued to fail in formulating a proper, more descriptive opinion.
In the midst of the exchange occurring in the lesson room, the Nephilim nurse, Lucy promptly opened the door leading towards the dorms compartment. She flashed both Jamie and Manirak an amiable smile, albeit a discernibly feigned one as detected by the empath. Whilst the elder spirit credulously reciprocated the nurse's gesture, Jamie could not help but shudder at the Nephilim's adept pretense considering the sheer dispassionate aura she was currently emitting. That alone insinuated the possibility of her disinterest in Dr. Rana's plan. "Now Jamie... I want you to watch over our guest here before Dr. Rana returns... can you do that for me?" Nurse Lucy requested in her mellow voice whilst lowering her form so as to reach Jamie's level. The affected nature of her behaviour has interestingly enough, not perturbed the young empath as much as it should have, having experienced firsthand how commonplace such performances were for Southerners.
As such, not a single word would be uttered. A subdued nod signalling his compliance sufficed as a response, although the nurse apparently had no plans of allowing both of them their moment of privacy just yet. Regardless, Manirak fortunately read the situation well enough and took the liberty to settle by a nearby seat, therefore sparing his young relative the strenuous effort of stammering out a command. The elder spirit beckoned the boy over, prompting the nurse to shift her attention away from Jamie, much to his relief. Whilst sauntering over to Manirak's side, his thoughts flitted over to the two currently in the process of debriefing. Admittedly, Jamie was conscious to the sheer burden his social ineptness caused the similarly self-conscious field medic. While he initially speculated the likeliness of Malakai suddenly opting out of his mentoring duties following the debriefing session with Dr. Rana, the fact that the medical director expressed his appreciation for the lesson's outcome despite the fiasco it turned out to be has effectively lowered that possibility.
Taking into account Dr. Rana’s eccentricities, to say the least, Jamie could already foretell the struggle Malakai would have endured. Merely imagining Malakai's situation resulted in a faint nervous reaction tingling in his spine due to how thoroughly the young empath sympathized with Malakai's predicament. The medical director may not be the oppressive sort, far from it actually, yet the mere prospect of being in the presence of such an exceptional personality renowned for his talent will predictably be taxing for the raven-haired medic. Dr. Rana's perceptive abilities are indeed a force to be reckoned with, as Malakai would learn shortly after. As to the reasoning behind the genius doctor's investment behind the well-being of a young refugee boy from the Northern Territories, Jamie already has a vague idea...
"I see... That. Is. Superb!" Dr. Rana exclaimed in the midst of scribbling his analysis onto the clipboard in a rather hasty fashion upon heeding Malakai's reply. Whilst still in the process of jotting down notes, the medical director's legs took lively steps towards Malakai's side despite his eyes being glued onto the paper. "Now correct me if I'm wrong... but you must be cognizant of the kid's empathic capabilities are you not?" inquired Dr. Rana, still in the process of meandering around the chamber prior to apparently concluding his notes with an animated horizontal strike marring the side edges of the wooden clipboard. In one swift motion, he swivelled by one heel, turning back so as to direct his attentions towards Malakai and strikingly pointed the steel tipped pen at him from a distance. "The power to manipulate an individual's emotions, mood and intent, a form of Pathokinesis technically speaking, that my friend was what you just experienced."
Retracting his arms soon afterwards, he doctor began tapping the edge of the clipboard with the pen whilst his jovial expression gradually faded into a more sober one. Clearing his throat, he then followed "Malakai Moors, I know not how you did it. Out of the five previous instructors we have attempted to designate, you were the first to invoke the boy's pathokinetic capabilities". Dr. Rana's tone was as calm as it was passive. In the presence of socially anxious individuals such as Malakai, the charismatic doctor took extra measures not to unsettle them to a certain degree. In addition to that, he concluded that the bespectacled field medic was quite the scrupulous one, taking into consideration the various concoctions he personally brewed for the lesson. As much as it personally concerned Dr. Rana, having to accommodate another socially awkward individual, this time a full grown adult, the medical director took the initiative to assuage the tension for the sake of his research.
Scribbling a few more side notes, the medical director promptly pocketed the steel pen immediately afterwards and inhaled deeply. "Now Malakai, you did an absolutely fantastic job with Jamie, honestly! Never before have I actually seen him actively initiate a conversation with another adult". Then, Dr. Rana took a single step closer. "But don't get me wrong, I do understand that it took a tremendous amount of effort on your part. I thank you for that... this is a huge step for Jamie." slowly, Dr. Rana's arms gradually and gently held Malakai's upper arm. "Jamie you see... lost his family back in the Arctic, as such, he is currently under official TRS custody until he is of legal age..." the medical director further remarked. "As of current, the boy is still being targeted by the AP for various reasons, possibly related to his power..." before too long, Dr. Rana took this opportunity to lean in closer.
With a sincere yet soothing tone, the doctor declared, "Now, as much as I wish for you to further help with Jamie, I still have to follow TRS protocols. This is the part where I inform you that three AP agents have already been apprehended attempting to sneak into the HQ this year alone, all of them apparently sent to abduct Jamie..." Soon afterwards, he removed his hand and distanced himself from Malakai accordingly. "As a security measure, I have been assigned to oversee his progress from afar. Knowing full well that the lessons are being observed, that in addition to the possibility of AP involvement, are you still willing to partake in this task?" Dr. Rana flatly inquired, his hands folded behind his back.
[attr="class","hearmenand2"]There was anxiety plaguing Malakai's mind as he silent remained stationed in his chair. He was uncertain considering he had never been thrust into these situations, making the amount of empathic manipulation Jamie had to accomplish to give him confidence prior to becoming evident in the instance. The full-fledged medic knew his pursuits in socialization were inept fumblings unless he grew entirely comfortable with the person; or generally on the field. Unfortunately, the particular conditions of this conversation brought a different form of nervousness to the bespectacled man. The individual he conversed with, Dr. Rana, was an admired man, renown in the medical division and known by a majority of his peers. There was an extensive list of contacts which the doctor could speak with, Malakai being concerned it could become in regards to his failure in social conduct in the future. Remarkable social skill and a well-known reputation provided a certain air of power in the bashful medics eyes. People similar to Dr. Rana alongside the man himself were definitely a person others desired to provide complete attentiveness to. They would easily ponder the words to leave those intelligent lips, making the power behind his voice an incredible achievement which anybody may yearn for.
Meanwhile, the field medic consistently stumbled, rambled and accomplished anything which could make his social skills an undesirable failure to handle. There were better, easier to manage weaknesses people could obtain opposed to a difficult to handle nervousness that haunted with each word. Trembles, fidgetting, lack of eye contact, everything would make Malakai's social struggles obvious; a quickly detected flaw to his personality. Anybody could notice the mistakes which the perfectionist was ashamed of, thus his hazel eyes proceeded to stare elsewhere while he anxiously wrung his hands. The calloused texture of his palms remained only mildly comforting as they rubbed together, the fidgety actions a desperate search for a seemingly unreachable calm. The bespectacled man's hands were stationed on his lap, eyes occasionally glancing towards his hands to watch them fidget. Breaths were vaguely abnormal, faster than average to make it evident Malakai was anxious from the situation he was trapped in. The exclaimed words surprised the field medic, his eyes were momentary glancing towards Dr. Rana as he heard the pen scrawl words across the paper.
The remark was unexpected considering his subpar explanation on his opinion of young Jamie. Steps were taken closer, the doctor's eyes never leaving the paper as he drew closer. The motions were nerve-wrecking, Malakai attempting to soothe his rampant anxieties. Gradually, he forced his breaths to become extensive in an attempt to achieve transquility in the frightful exchange; this interaction was crucial. These types of conversations with respectable people of the Terror Response Syndicate were important, and Malakai felt as though he was floundering. The information was vague, the bespectacled man knowing he could have elaborated on his explanation on his feelings towards Jamie. There would remain a evident struggle with the social situation, the young man listening to the following question. The mention of the empathic manipulation was responded to with a delayed nod, brief and shy. A momentary glance was taken towards Dr. Rana, Malakai startled when he noticed the man's attention directed towards him. Immediately, the bespectacled man's gaze shifted, returning towards the fidgetting of his hands opposed to the friendly doctor.
There was a definition to empathic manipulation, going lengths to state the professional name and stating the manipulation was something he experienced, which Malakai never doubted. The empathic manipulation had been the field medic's crutch during the entirely of the lesson. There was constrast between the transformation he underwent when under the guidance of Jamie's manipulation. Confidence, social prowess, everything Malakai wished he could hold tightly and properly maintain. The subtle sound a tap against the clipboard resulted in the bespectacled man's eyes flitting back towards Dr. Rana. The explanation on the previous instructors promptly earned the field medic's attention, his hazel eyes managing to remain on the dark-skinned doctor longer before glancing away to merely listen. Everything shifted as Dr. Rana's voice was adjusted, becoming more calming to lull Malakai's anxieties; the bespectacled man unaware of the intention change to soothe him. Due to his social awkwardness, the bespectacled man never lended a thought to the possibility of somebody shifting their social attitude to provide comfort in such a subtle method.
The bespectacled man quietly listened as Dr. Rana inhaled before proceeding to speak on the situation relating to Jamie. The initial remarks began, the man mentioning the differences between Jamie's behaviour with other instructors compared to him before taking a step closer. Words proceeded to flow, a slow reach and gentle grasp on his arm resulting in a subtle jump, making it obvious Malakai was mildly wary of being touched by another individual; a nearly unnoticeable mark from the situation which revolved around his mother's abusive attitude towards him. Once he managed to relax slightly, the hazel-eyed man silently listened to Dr. Rana's words. As Malakai listened to Dr. Rana's brief summary of Jamie's background, his eyes softened and fixated on the potions, the fidgetting ceasing momentarily as he pittied the young man. When the Assembly was mentioned, there was a slight stiffening of Malakai's body, a brief fear breaching his mind. The Assembly of Phantoms was responsible for numerous deaths of citizens and Terror Response Syndicate members. While it was a commonly spoken word inside the TRS, the bespectacled man nevered liked listening to the group's name.
As the explanation proceeded, a disturbed feeling breached the pit of Malakai's stomach as Dr. Rana mentioned attempted abductions. These were words Malakai never desired to hear as his eyes flitted towards the doctor, noticing the release of his arm, Dr. Rana gaining distance. There was a pause as the bespectacled man thought, eyes glancing towards his fidgetting hands as his nerves grasped him. Gradually, he gained confidence until he built enough to voice his thoughts.
"... The Assembly are involved... in almost e-everything the TRS do," Malakai stated quietly. An extensive, nervous exhale escaped his lips. "I... can still teach him... b-but... if p-p-possible... that is... perhaps... keep Jamie in the ward when he c-completes his training... if... if you haven't already considered it, of course!"
The final words were stated hastily, an anxiety touching his voice on account of his decision to make the suggestion. The request was provided, Malakai hesitant to give the intelligent doctor the advice. While the bespectacled man would not doubt his apprentice's abilities, the mentioning of abductions bothered him. The TRS headquarters would be difficult to infiltrate in comparison to the constant movements of the battlefield. Assembly of Phantoms members were prominant on the field, giving them an ample opportunity to steal away his apprentice and accomplish their horrendous plan. There were worries that Jamie could fall victim to AP forces, thus the bespectacled man hoped Dr. Rana would at least consider the possibility if anything.
Unlike the previous candidates for Jamie's instructors, Malakai Moors was startlingly enough, the ideal mentor. Therefore, the medical director was significantly predisposed in convincing the socially awkward field medic to agree to the terms. Despite Malakai's initial string of errors owing to severe diffidence, the boy's unexpected utilization of empathic manipulation nullified such concerns. Whether the bespectacled medic liked it or not, the mere presence of the young empath will benefit him immensely. Dr. Rana could well discern how such a symbiotic relationship could assist in the research, as far as he was concerned, their seemingly unremarkable interaction has somehow produced some satisfactory results on the first day alone. Basically all that awaited was Malakai's consent to partake in this rather questionable venture.
Perceptive brown eyes detected Malakai's sheer apprehension throughout the duration of their one-sided dialogue, something Dr. Rana became accustomed to thanks in no small part to Jamie. Already, he ascertained as to how elementary of a task it must have been for Jamie to comprehend the field medic's intentions. The man was essentially an adult version of Jamie as far as first impressions went. All decorum aside, Malakai has Dr. Rana's condolences, exhibiting such a tangible display of timidity during work hours, and to a 13 year old boy no less. In contrast to the inherently intuitive Jamie however, influencing Malakai's decisions may prove more manageable considering his lack of empathic abilities. Communicating with such extremely introverted individuals had prompted Dr. Rana to utilize subtleties to this advantage, keeping in mind that a strictly straightforward approach would probably discourage Malakai.
Nonetheless, Malakai's earnest reply was a pleasant surprise. The bashful medic's concern for Jamie's well-being urged him to uncharacteristically put forth a rather sincere suggestion, putting his earlier reservations aside. This prompted Dr. Rana to raise a curious eyebrow, "That is wonderful Malakai, you are doing Jamie, and the TRS a huge favour... as for you suggestion..." he remarked whilst slowly strolling forth. To assign Jamie to ward duties upon completion of his training was very much possible under Gurinder Rana's hands, although it was not as simple as that. After all, the medical director was there the moment a small group of Inuit refugees suffering from hypothermia were admitted at the ward. He was there the moment a sickly, half-asleep little child proclaimed to the nurse accompanying him his intentions to join the cause. Dr. Rana was there to hear the otherwise meek boy declaring his wish to play an active role in saving his people.
He stopped a meter away from Malakai. "You needn't worry about that... I will handle it" Dr. Rana reassured Malakai shortly before diverting his attention towards the door. "As to whether or not you wish to inform Jamie of this arrangement, is entirely up to you, although I must say, you'll find Jamie surprisingly hard to convince..." before long, the still smiling Dr. Rana slowly sauntered closer to the exit. "Your concerns are well-placed. Although the boy is not necessarily unqualified, physically speaking, for field work... we were already aware of the various risks." as such, the medical director redirected his warm gaze back towards Malakai. Jamie's body is at severe risk the longer he makes use of empathic healing. One wrong move and the boy's body will shut down completely... In fact, as of current, the boy may not even live to the age of 25... "We are glad to have you Malakai Moors, please do check your emaill for further instructions." and just like that, Dr. Rana turned back and promptly made his exit.
"Elder Manirak?..." Jamie sheepishly asked just as Nurse Lucy was in the midst of a personal phone call. "Yes Qaniit? ask away!" the elder spirit exclaimed whilst hastily yanking himself and the chair underneath him closer to Jamie's seat. "Qudlivun... do you... know what it's like?" Jamie inquired, staring blankly up the chamber's ceiling in the meanwhile. "No one knows my boy... no one knows..." Manirak flatly stated in a curiously carefree manner before joining Jamie in his ceiling staring activity. Several seconds later, the old spirit broke the silence "But if this old fox's in charge, I imagine it to be a land of greens all around, game and berries as far as the eye can see..." Manirak envisioned. Jamie could not help but smile at his old relative's optimism, prompting him to chime in as well "Well... I... think that everyone will be there as well... Mama, Papa, Lord Enqi (Enki)... or maybe even Akari... it will be beautiful... so beautiful we cannot even comprehend..."
To this, Manirak could only stare at the boy and let out a quick chuckle. "Oh Qaniit, you and your fancy notions... if only you were born on a different realm, you would made an excellent shaman" Manirak proudly declared to which Jamie could do nothing but nod. Before too long, Dr. Rana would arrive, cutting his sudden reunion with Manirak to its regrettable conclusion. From the looks of it, the debriefing went... surprisingly well. Jamie inadvertently chuckled in return.
[attr="class","hearmenand2"]Obtaining adequacy in mentoring was surprising to the socially awkward field medic, especially considering his own self-critical opinions which manifested from his perfectionist mindset. Miraculously, Malakai has managed to handle Jamie, although, there were inevitable stumbles that frequently littered his speech; any clarity being created through the empathic manipulation used to assist his faltering social capabilities. Nonetheless, somebody needed to train the young teen, and currently, based on the provided information, the bespectacled man appeared to be the only volunteer. Naturally, he feared the merciless wrath of the Assembly of Phantoms, but he feared the painful inflictions his ruthless mother decided were a worthy punishment for her homosexual son. Nobody desired these pains to enter their life, however, Malakai remained determined to prove himself as useful for the TRS, and was compliant regardless. From the beginning, he had been obedient, loyal to those who displayed positive aspects, thus he considered the entire ordeal his duty.
There would always be prominent concerns about his mentoring capabilities, the bespectacled man wondering if he could achieve the incredible confidence displayed when under the influence of empathic manipulation. The notion appeared unlikely considering his anxieties and evident failures in conversation, but Malakai hoped he could manage and his request, despite being stumbled out, would be obeyed. A deep breath was taken and held at the thought of his future requirements to train Jamie to become a successful medic, and hopefully one based in the medical ward. After a few moments, the air was released, slow as the bespectacled man attempting to clear his thoughts, but there was still a mild palpitation in his heart from nervousness. Eye contact remained sparse as the field medic's hazel eyes flitted to other locations inside the room; the floor tiles, the colourful potions, the shelved books, anything to avoid meeting Dr. Rana's. The remark explaining the appreciation for agreeing to proceed with teaching Jamie was a soothing comment to hear despite it being the expected one. It felt calming to know Malakai's efforts would be appreciated.
Footsteps became slightly louder as Dr. Rana walked closer, the conversation promptly switching to his suggestion. A pang of nervousness breached Malakai’s stomach as his eyes fixated on the variety of colourful concoctions stationed on the table. There was a slight tensing to his body, the bespectacled man concerned his suggestion was out of place considering his rank below Dr. Rana, alas, he could not resist it. There was a chance he could assist Jamie and assure his safety, thus the field medic remained determined to insist on the verdict of the young boy remaining inside the medical ward. While there would be dreaded social interaction, the Assembly of Phantoms would struggle to capture Jamie and whisk him to whatever horrible place they decided to. The reassurance was a pleasant surprise, Malakai glancing briefly towards Dr. Rana, a thankful gaze evident in his eyes. Each additional piece of information about his apprentice was taken, the bespectacled man listening as the doctor mentioned Jamie was difficult to persuade.
There was relief discovered in the verdict, abated breath leaving Malakai's lips afterwards. The field medic appreciated Dr. Rana's possible attempt to keep Jamie in the security of the medical ward.
"Thank you, Dr. Rana," he responded.
There was a chance Jamie could be confined to a safe location, even if it took effort on Malakai's part to try and persuade him to stay in the TRS headquarters. While there would be a strain on the bashful man's social skills should he be required to attempt to convince the young teen to remain in the ward. There was a mention of further instructions, the bespectacled man nodding at Dr. Rana before rising from his chair.
"I think... I... will wait to explain things," Malakai responded, procrastinating slightly.
The procrastination of social interaction was inevitable, the field medic feeling the nervousness in his stomach. There could be time spent formulating a speech and practicing his conversation skills prior to the next lesson, at least Malakai hoped. A brief glance back towards the door was taken when he heard the faint sounds of footsteps and the door, Dr. Rana exiting the room. Once he remained the only individual in the room, the bespectacled man slowly began placing the potions into the case, taking extensive breaths as he worked. Gradually, he managed to calm himself, packing away the potions with a precise organization before retrieving the case alongside the folder before taking his leave. There would be time to organize a proper lesson, re-read the folder of information and perhaps even get into contact with Jamie to discover everything he absorbed from the disrupted lesson. The field medic prayed he would have gathered enough capability to manage the following lesson without the crutch of Jamie's empathic manipulation; it felt required.
