Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Rin had come to Crescent Moon Cafe around noon with her laptop and earbuds. Her end of the semester thesis was due on Monday and she had procrastinated due to an increase in jobs. Between going to College and working as a fashion model, the young vampire didn't get much of a break in between. She approached the front counter to get the cafe's WiFi password then went to sit at a table in the back corner away from all windows. She set the laptop down on the table, opened it and started it up. Once logged in, she input the WiFi password in then got straight to work. Her thesis was on the subject of co-existence of hell and heaven species on earth. Back during the war of traitors, back before Rin and her siblings were even born, her father and mother had sided with hell. Since Rin and her father came and settled in Lorsette, she'd met species from both heaven and hell. Some had come to be great friends with Rin, others never could accept Rin for who she was due to what she was. So, that's why when her professor told the class they were free to pick whatever subject that piqued their interest for their thesis. She jumped at the opportunity to write about this one in particular. [break][break]
About ten minutes into her writing a waitress came along to take Rin's order. "I'll have a cafe au lait, a glass of tomato juice, and a roast beef sandwich on rye." The waitress jotted down what Rin ordered, repeated it back to her and upon confirming she got everything down right, the waitress walked off over to the kitchen. Leaving Rin to go back to her writing. Rin pulled out her earbuds that she had stuffed into the pocket of her uniform skirt, plugged them into the side of her computer, and put on some music to listen to. She looked up to see the quaint little cafe was filling up quickly, mostly with high school and college students. They must have come here to work on their reports and homework too. After all, Crescent Moon cafe was known to be a popular spot for students to hang out and or study during the school year.
Decker was sitting on the rooftop of a building eating his little snack of raw meat he had just picked up from the store. He yawned as his ears just flickered back and forth to shoo away the bugs that kept landing on his head. He took a drink out of the bottle he had sitting next to him as he finished his meal. He whipped the lingering drips of his drink from his mouth. He got up from his perch and jumped down off the building. It was only a two story building so not like it would hurt him. He found a trash can to deposit his trash. He took out a photo from his jeans as he started to walk down the street.
He kept walking a bit before he found his destination. A cafe, and not a fun one, from the looks. Mostly young kids. He didn't hate kids, but wasn't a fan. He leaned up against a wall and watched people come in and out. Looking for the person in the picture he had in his hand. As he watched no one matching the description came in or out of this cafe. He sighed a bit."Why can't it be easy sometimes." he said to himself as he left his spot and started to head towards the door of the cafe. As he got closer his nose started to twitch as the smell of meat lingered in the air. If there was a downside of being a Lycan. It was the heightened sense of smell. He could smell some damn good food from ways away.
He opened the door as the cafe was packed with people. He looked around for a bit. Most were human some were not. He could smell the ones that were not human. Just something about the smell was off. If anyone knew they would most likely. His eyes darted around the cafe looking for non human. As he found one. He walked over to this person that was sitting all alone in the corner of the room. As he got closer it seemed to be a girl. His head turned diagonally to one side in curiosity like a dog. He approached her table and pulled out a chair and plopped himself down and just starred at the girl and waited to see if she even noticed him. He looked at her. He couldn't quite tell what race she was but she wasn't human. She does look kinda cute. Long blackish hair with blue eyes. Maybe he might just have some fun with this girl instead of chasing a dead lead. Not like he needed this contract anyway. He wasn't too fond on killing kids. He just needed the money since the TRS hasn't hired him in a little while.
With music playing through her earbuds and fingers tapping away at the keyboard of her laptop at ridiculous speeds. The waitress brought out Rin's order, placing it on the table then taking her leave. Rin stopped typing and took a small sip from her cafe au lait. Her sandwich was pipping hot so she wanted to give it a bit of time to cool down before digging in. She then went right back to typing. She had already typed up two out of the five pages she needed for her thesis. She'd covered the war of traitors with the info she got from stories her father told her as well as history books and other documents. Rin was now starting to get into writing about her own personal experiences with interacting with other species. While enjoying her tomato juice and sandwich, she took notice of the grey haired lycan who had plopped down in the seat across from her at the table she'd been occupying. Since Lycans were known for their impressive sense of smell, she had to guess he could tell she wasn't a human and came because she piqued his interest. While normally Rin wasn't one much for messing with others, she figured it might be interesting to see what kind of reaction she could get from this fellow by giving him a visual hint to her true nature. Rin stopped typing and eating and lifted her eyes to meet his, allowing them to turn blood red momentarily before they returned to their usual blue color. She then flashed her fangs with an open-mouth smile at him.
Decker looked at the girl with his brownish eyes as she finally saw him or at least noticed him. As she looked up from her computer to finally look at him. He didn't give much of an expression as she finally paused to acknowledge him. He was waiting for her to say the first words. Or so he thought at least. It seems that wasn't the case. It was probably due to his obvious appearance that he was not human either.
He watched as the girl looked at him for a moment then her eyes turned red for a second before she smiled at him with her fangs out. He just looked at her as part of his mouth smiled forming a half smile. Like mocking her a bit that she either tried to intimidate him or try to get him to react to something. He already knew she wasn't human. He just didn't know what she was until now...a fuckin vampire, he thought. Of course she was a vampire. No woman would be this cute if she wasn't immortal.
Decker looked at her once more as his half smiled vanished as he leaned back on the chair. "So whats a vampire like you pretending to be so girly when you could rip every one of those gossip girls apart without a second thought." he said with an almost evil smile just thinking about that, watching this girl rip apart someone else. "I mean you got the looks for being a girly girly. You are pretty cute and all that." he added as he just looked at her seeing how she would react to comments like that. Since he wasn't taking the contract anymore he could waste some time with this girl. As his ears just flickered as he sat there looking at this girl. It was more or less normal when he was around loud noise for his ears to do that. It was mostly to hear what he was focused on. And right now it was her.
Unfortunately, he had no reaction to her red eyes and fangs. Just a half-mocking smile that only served to irritate Rin. He asked her why she was pretending to act all girly when she could easily rip the gossiping girls around her apart with ease. While his comment had some truth to it, she still found it annoying to have a mongrel stereotype her. Who did he think he was? She took out her earbuds to give the man sitting before her, her full undivided attention. "I'm not acting like anything. This is my personality. Despite what you might think of me, I'm more refined than most of my kind." After responding to the lycan, she got flustered upon hearing him call her "cute". Her cheeks flushed bright red and her expression was one of shock with a slight hint of disgust. However, she wasn't about to let this pup get the upper hand. So, she extended her leg out under the table in an attempt to kick him in the shin. If her foot connected with his shin like she planned, odds are the sheer force fracture the bone. "You stupid mongrel! How dare you act so boorishly towards me. You should be grateful I took the time to pay you any mind in the first place!" Rin would say haughtily after kicking him.
Decker watched her with his brown/amber eyes as her expression said everything. She wasn't too pleased that he said what he did. But hey he is pretty blunt to begin with. And says whats on his mind. As she took her earbuds out he just smiled a bit as he thinks he hit a nerve. Is this what he wanted? Not really but it got her attention right? That is what he wanted after all, her attention.
As she started to talk he just kept that half mocking/cocky smile on face as she talked. Saying that she was more refined than her kin. Well this was a first for Decker, meeting a refined vampire. Most of the ones he has encountered were more or less a bit feral. Well she isn't a first. But one that stood with the common folk and didn't think of them as cattle or livestock. It was interesting for sure.
As he felt something connect to his shin as it seemed like the cute comment probably did go over well in her mind. It was a pretty good kick too. It hurt. But he didn't show any of that on his face at least he wasn't going to let her have any satisfaction knowing that she hurt him a little bit. Plus luckily he was a Lycan with thick bones or that could have broken his leg. After her comment he just whistled in amazement and mockery. "You know you angry just adds to the cuteness factor but that's my humble opinion" he said with a sly smile. "Wheres the mongrel by the way." he said looking around for one, as the moment past, "ooooooh you mean me. I don't look that run down do I?" he said as he looked at his clothes and himself trying to find where that comment came from. But there's the noble vampire coming out. Thinking everyone is below them when they are on the same playing field as everyone else. Guess he was wrong earlier thinking she was like the rest of the noble vampires he had encountered.
His ears flickered again as he looked at her. "I feel kind of hurt you would try to kick me though. We are here just trying to converse. And you come at me like that. So ruuuuude." he lastly added before putting his elbow on the table and placing his chin in his hand as he rested his head on his hand and just looked at the girl in front of him with a sly and cocky smile on his face.
She was surprised he showed no signs of pain. In fact, his response to her kick was him whistling in amazement with some hints of mockery in there as well. His nonchalant and taunting attitude was very vexing. He also called her cute again, making Rin get even more flustered than before. This was a type of person she wasn't too good at dealing with. She had once met a reaper with a similar personality and it was always difficult to deal with him whenever their paths would cross. Though, that was about a hundred years ago but still. People were beginning to take notice of the two. Other patrons in the cafe even some of the wait staff began to whisper among each other. Since Rin's face was well known due to her gaining popularity from her work as a model, she drew more attention than she would have normally. This wasn't good at all. She downed her tomato juice, took a few more bites out of her sandwich and left money on the table to pay for the food. She gave the lycan who was now resting his head in his hand with his elbow propped up on the table watching her, a death glare. Her heightened levels of anger caused her trademark vampiric red eyes to come out. However, it only lasted for thirty seconds before returning to their blue color. [break][break]
As she began to pack her laptop back up in its case and put it back in her messenger bag. She tried avoiding all eye contact with him. Though, her cheeks were still flushed red. Despite her back being turned, you could tell she was still blushing because even her ears were red. Once she was all packed up, she turned back to face the man, who was still watching her with a sly and cocky smile. Rin's cheeks not nearly as red now as before. She grabbed her wrist of the hand that his chin was resting in, pulling him to his feet and dragging him along. "Follow me, or the next kick will be aimed at your precious family jewels" She said this so quietly that the lycan would hear but anyone else within earshot wouldn't.
He watched as she completely ignored anything he said as she just downed the rest of her meal as quickly as she could. He was surprised she didn't choke with how fast she ate and drank the remains. As she then started to pack up her things. Not giving him a glance after she gave him a death stare. Thankfully she can't turn things into stone because that glare would have done the trick, I mean the eyes in general would send fear into anyone human. Her flustered pink face was pretty visible still as she stuffed her things in her bag until she was finally done and got up from her seat. No matter how mad she got it was still pretty cute. Especially since the anger and fluster have been combined. As she took a step, his eyes following her movements. As she reached and grabbed his wrist and was yanked up. He stood up a bit amused at what was going to happen.
When she whispered something as his ears flickered forward to hear what she said. As his head cocked to one side like a dog. As a chuckle escaped his lips. "Now that wouldn't be too nice" he said along side the chuckle. This was pretty amusing in his mind. As she dragged him away past the counter he reached over and grabbed a little pastry and threw money on the counter "Keep the change. I don't need it" he was able to say before vanishing outside with the girl that was dragging him along. This turned out to be a better day than expected he thought. He got some free food earlier and now he made a new friend.
Ignoring his comment he had made in response to her threat, Rin dragged him by the wrist right out the front door of the cafe and around the corner into an alleyway where there wasn't much sunlight and a whole lot of shade. Once out of sight from prying eyes, Rin stopped and let go of his wrist. She then turned to face him. She crossed her arms over her chest and looked up to see he was quite a bit taller than her. She hadn't expected this. Regardless of how it took her by surprise, her expression didn't show anything but irritation, all directed at the tall lycan male who stood before her. "So, why did you disrupt my meal and school work? Depending on your answer you may get off easy." Rin didn't really care for his reasoning but, she was a sensible person. She figured letting him try to explain himself to her wouldn't hurt.
Decker was dragged out of the cafe by this vampire as he shoved the pastry he got into his mouth and chewed a bit and swallowed it. In one swift bite it was gone. It didn't taste too bad, could have been better, more cream filling would have been nice. But it wasn't the worst that was for sure. As he was dragged along down the street past a couple buildings then into the alleyway. Until he was finally let free. He could have been free the moment she grabbed his arm. But what fun would that have been. He put his hands in his pockets as he just looked at her. He didn't really get a good look at the girl in the cafe. She was quite shorter than him. And pretty small stature. It wasn't bad, maybe it added to the cuteness level of her. Being in that tiny ball of cuteness while having that much anger? who knows though.
She had crossed her arms and held a stern look as she spoke. Saying depending on the answer to why he had disturbed her, he might get off easy. As he stood there, his white/grayish tail started to move back and forth behind. The thing had a mind of its own he didn't really control it. He looked at her as his eyes met hers. As he gave her a more normal smile. "Well I was on a job when I went into the cafe. Decided I didn't want the job because I saw you and saw you were pretty cute. Decided I wanted to talk to you. Turns out you are a lot more fun than expected. And now here we are." he finished as he just looked at her waiting to see what she would do now. Try to kill him? or not. We shall see.
The man gave her an answer. Though, once again, he called her "cute" causing Rin to get flustered once more and lose her composure. However, this time, Rin couldn't seem to muster the spirit to kick or hit him this time. He seemed to be sincere and not mocking. She just turned her head to the side. "Hmph! I guess I'll let you off easy this time... but don't misunderstand! She said making eye contact once more and pointing at him with her arm and index finger extended."Just because I'm letting you off easy doesn't mean I'll do it again and don't think for a second that a stupid mutt like you calling me cute makes me happy, got it?!" She said then turned to face the other way with her arms crossed once more and her rosy pink cheeks puffed out. This guy did really have a talent for throwing her off her game.
He watched her as she looked up at then turned away as she said something. With her cheeks once again having a pink hue to them. Guess she is pretty easy to make flustered. Doesn't take much Decker guessed. Just calling her cute got her all like that. It was kinda comical, but he held his laughter so she wouldn't get too mad and try to kick him again. As she turned her head back and extended her arm and index finger out. As he just stared at her.
As she said not to get the wrong idea and calling him a mutt and all that. In his opinion he didn't seem like a mutt. He was cleaned up, had a job, even if that is killing people. He was no mutt. Maybe she is flustered too much. He chuckled a little bit as he took a step forward, then another. And in a second he was in front of her with not much more room between the two, no more personal space to spare. As he looked down at her with a bit of a sly smile. "I don't know about that. Your face says something different." he paused as he leaned down to ear and whispered, "It says you like the attention with that flustered face. Maybe it says you want more..." he finished as he straightened back up and looked down at her and gave her a wink with a smile.
Next thing she realized, he had closed the distance between the two. When she noticed he was now standing only a few inches from her, she became worried at the sight of the man's sly smile. What was he going to do? However, it wasn't what she had been imagining in her head. He implied that her face was saying something different before he leaned down to whisper in her ear. His tone was quite with a low resonance, his breath on her ear made Rin shiver ever so slightly. Although, after what he whispered to her, Rin regained not only her composure but her feisty spirit as well. "I changed my mind." she said quietly, almost under her breath. Rin balled her hand into a fist, then crouched slightly before springing upwards, letting her fist guide her in an attempt to punch him in the jaw with an upper-cut punch. If her fist connected, odds are he'd be sent into the air at least a few feet. Rin didn't hold back any of her strength so the sheer force could easily break or fracture his jaw.[break][break]
"Stupid mutt. You should learn to be grateful and not piss me off." Rin would say as she took a handkerchief from her skirt pocket to wipe her hand off.
Decker could smell the anger pouring out of this girl. It was quite a lot too. Like so much it almost made scared. But alas he was not that easily spooked by killing intent. He has dealt with too many in the past. He is a contract killer. All of his jobs aren't easy or clean. Sometimes he is found out and needs to kill more than just one person to get out alive. But at the same time most of them were human and not a vampire. Which was a down side cause she could do some real damage to him.
Decker felt his hair stand up as she had clenched her fist with out him noticing and try to throw a big hay-maker uppercut. Decker being the killer and a Lycan has pretty damn reflexes. So he just leaned back as he saw her fist just barely scratch his chin. As her fist flew into the air. In a swift clean movement. Decker grabbed her arm, twisted her around and pulled her in close as her back was now up against his chest. "That would have hurt if you connect that punch. But it is the day a full moon is coming out so lucky me." he said as he looked down at her with a smile. "Plus if you wanna hit someone without them noticing, down crouch down next time." he added as he kept there for a moment.
"But man are you so cute when you are this angry." he said. He tilted his head down and planted a kiss on the top of her forehead. Before letting her go and putting a little bit of distance between them now. He took out a piece of paper out of his pocket. And flicked towards her hoping she would catch it. It was his business card of sorts. All it said was his name and a number on a black card. "Names Decker if you ever wanna get in touch again call me." he said with a wink before he turned around and started to walk away.
Rin's uppercut punch just barely grazed his chin and in the next moment after, he had seized Rin by her arm, twisted her around to where her back was now up against his chest. She immediately started to squirm about in an attempt to free herself but it was useless. He said something about being lucky because of a full moon. While the sun had yet to set, it was late enough in the afternoon that the moon had shown itself in the sky. Indeed it was a full moon, of course it just had to be a full moon. What rotten luck the petite vampire was having. She was so frustrated, he even gave her a tip on how to take someone by surprise better.[break][break]
He once again called her cute before he titled his head down to plant a kiss on her forehead then released her and put some distance between the two. Completely vexed and embarrassed, Rin just stood there in disbelief. She soon snapped out of it and began to wipe her forehead excessively. Once she was done, she gave him another death glare as he tossed something in her direction which she caught. It was a little black card with a name and number on it. She looked back up at him. "Hey! What's this for?" He responded by giving his name as Decker which was the same as the name on the little black card and told her if she wanted to get in touch again, to call him. Which he said with a wink before he turned around and started to walk away. "You stupid mangy mutt. Who'd ever want to call you!!" She shouted at him standing in place. Rin puffed out her cheeks then took another look at the little black card she'd received from him. "Decker Konrad, huh? Stupid mutt. Who does he think he is?" She said quietly to herself before shoving the card into her skirt's left pocket. Once Decker was out of sight, she picked up her messenger bag and decided to go home. After everything he had put her through, Rin was in need of a relaxing aromatherapy bath.[break][break]
