Logan Bing Fear is the strongest power. general info
appearance Logan stands at six foot two and is half Chinese, half Japanese. He is muscular, but not so much so as to be overt. He has body fat, but not enough to appear fat. He has broad shoulders and a thinner, though not small, waist. His skin is flawless, lacking in any and all forms of blemish, due in large part to his powers. His body is covered in tattoos of eastern dragons. When preparing for a fight, he either wears a suit of heavy armor meant only to protect him for a short period, or jeans and a mask for fights expected to go faster. The armor is built to compromise protection for ease of removal, being able to split down the middle and fall off him. personality
abilities Gifted: |
[*]Bodily Redundancy: Logan has a limited ability to manipulate his body. Conditions that could harm him are worked around. For example, if his heart is mystically removed, his stomach can pump blood instead, or if all his blood were removed, the tissues of his body could collectively cover the purpose. Conditions are in one of four categories: life ending, life threatening, life altering, and trivial. Life ending conditions are those that will kill in five minutes or less, just as a torn aorta or significant brain injury. Life threatening conditions are those that would kill in under a day without treatment, such as significant ongoing blood loss. Life altering conditions are those that will not kill on their own, but affect daily life in substantial ways, such as a broken bone or torn tendon. Trivial conditions are anything else. Life ending wounds are worth 3 points, life threatening conditions are worth 2 points, and life altering conditions are worth 1 point. Logan's power can only accommodate up to 9 points of damage. While this makes him extremely hardy, he is far from immortal. This power also grants Logan a detailed understanding of the state of his body. Left to its own devices, the power will "fix" the worst injuries first, and will automatically do such in the case of near-instant kill level damage, such as a head shot with lethal ammunition. He can reallocate points at a whim, as can the power's automatic components. For example: Logan has no heart and no lungs (both life ending conditions), as well as a broken arm (life altering), and is using his power for all three (possibly by all cells in his body absorbing oxygen from the atmosphere and other organs pumping blood through vessels, and some muscles of the arm hardening to act as the bone instead). If he were to then be shot in the head, the power would revert the changes to his arm and spend the last three points of damage saving him from the head injury, assuming that it was life ending.
[*]Blood Sense: Logan can sense blood around him. Within thirty feet, he can "feel" those around him via their blood (does not work with bloodless individuals like some golems). He can differentiate people by this sense alone, though he cannot figure out who people are without a frame of reference (such as meeting them before, or observing who they are). He can, however, tell races apart by just this sense. Furthermore, he can tell if an individual is bleeding, and how much so if they are, as they appear "stronger" on his sense.[/ul]
backstory
Logan was born in Montreal to immigrant parents. They had not emigrated together, they had not even come form the same country. He was a child born later in the lives of his parents, who have both passed away since. His mother, Kyoko, left Japan shortly after World War 2 ended, at the age of 16, married to one Kenta Kobayashi. Kenta died at the age of forty three, nineteen years after entering Canada, leaving behind three boys, a girl, and his wife, due to stress-induced cardiomyopathy. With only two children still in her care, the thirteen year old Jean and eleven year old Paul, Kyoko made do as well as she could, eventually remarrying. Her new husband was Jiang Bing, who left China with his parents one year before World War 2, arriving in Canada at the age of twelve. Logan was born from this second union, the only child of the pair, though one that grew up with six elder siblings, two of which were still at home. Logan had poor grades from the start. A different time, a different place, perhaps he would have received the help he needed. Instead, Logan was held back, forced into summer schools. He grew to despise school. This, combined with the relative poverty he grew up in, made it easy for Logan to fall into gang life. At first, he was recruited into a Chinese youth gang. After four years, now age fourteen, Logan's mixed heritage came to light, and he was expelled from the group under less than nice circumstances.
Logan spent awhile on the fringes of society, in a sense. Couch surfing through Montreal, staying with his parents only when they begged him to, stealing chips from gas stations, selling drugs. Whatever he could to keep going. At the age of sixteen, he dropped out of high school and cut contact with his family, catching a train to Lorsette. Why did he go to Lorsette? Because that was the stop where the conductor kicked him off. He spent awhile in the local gang scene. Smaller than it had been in Montreal. Closer knit, in a way. But he fell out of favor with them, too. Not because of his mixed heritage, he never told them that, but because of him. He was blunt. He was harsh. If you insulted him, even a 'light roast' meant in a lighthearted manner, you frequently ended up with an ice pack to your head, if not a hospital bed. He took orders begrudgingly, only when he thought the one giving them was smarter. But it had to be the right type of smarts. Logan could not win a war by himself. But a fight?
Fights were easy.
At the age of thirty, Logan was jailed for petty theft and aggravated assault. A sentence of four years, you can guess he did not get out early for good behavior. In fact, his sentence was to be extended. He was not a calm prisoner. It did not help that, two years after his sentence began, he developed powers. Nearly unkillable, and heals by killing. He was isolated until it was possible to transfer him to a high security institution. The transfers took time, and the isolated Logan was no real threat. There was no one for him to hurt, and he had no abilities to escape with. It took a year and a half for the courts to process the paperwork from his multiple attacks, extending his sentence another two years. While on route, the prisoner transfer vehicle was abruptly stopped. Logan heard the screeching tires and slamming doors, followed by two gunshots. The door opened and before him stood a young woman with black hair and blue eyes and a young man with dark blue hair and red eyes. They came with conditions for his freedom. Logan agreed.
misc
Logan suffers from Congenital Insensitivity to Pain. His youth was incredibly difficult for him, due to this. However, he seemed to always be aware of how much damage he had taken, something highly unusual in those with CIP, and a very good thing. Later in life, this would be confirmed to be a part of his powers that had manifested early in life, only to bloom fully while he was in prison.
Logan's parents both died in a car accident two years into his prison sentence. He was informed of this by the warden. She died later that day of traumatic brain injury.
