“
The Night was Ours. Aidan smiled as he heard her laugh and listened to her explanations about the cat. He felt his heart skip another beat when she said it was mutual between him and that he wasn't to blame. He nodded as he reached up and took her hand. Allowing Kurenai to pull him to his feet. He scratched his head awkwardly and smiled at her.
"Yes, you're right. It is getting late," he said as he walked to the door stepping around Tamago, noticing the cat's glaring eyes. He turned to her as he reached the door. "Goodnight Kurenai. Thanks again for taking me in."
With those words he headed into the front room, closing the door behind him gently. He flipped off light switches along the way until he was in utter darkness and he walked over to the bed that had been set up for him. He laid down and folded his arms behind his head gazing up at the ceiling. His brown eyes thoughtful.
Kurenai... he couldn't get the thought of her out of his head as he stared up at the ceiling. Nothing would make it go away. Not thinking of Alistair, Asuka..or Tatsuya. Is this what he wanted for Aidan? Something else to focus on besides their mission and getting everyone out safely. It used to be all I could think about...but I failed even at that...and you paid for my error Tatsuya...it was my sin to gain repentance from...that's probably why these nightmares still haunt me... he thinks as he sighs. He knew sleep would be a long time coming. If it came at all. His mind was too focused on that moment when his lips had touched hers, the smell of her shampoo, her body pressed against his. I hope it didn't make things awkward...but she said the feeling was mutual...does that mean what I think it means? he asks himself as he sits up in bed and sighs. He wanted to go and ask her, but he had already barged into her room, and maybe taken things too far.
I really like her... it was an odd thought. He'd never really had time for relationships before. Not with the way he'd been living his life. Alistair had always told him he was the closest to him in terms of personality. But Aidan didn't believe that. Alistair was a sociopath, Aidan wore his heart on his sleeve and always acted on his emotions. He just never felt the need to get involved with anyone else. Knowing who and what he was, would complicate matters for everyone. Who would want to be with a man connected to a group like the Enclave. I'm not that man anymore... he thinks as he stands up and steps towards the hall where Kuranai's door is and stops.
No..I shouldn't...If I had any sense I would leave before the others come for me...they'll find me for sure. Ian and Asuka would easily be able to track me... he thinks as he lowers his head and backs up before sitting back on the bed on the floor, cradling his head in his hands. Closing his eyes, and digging his palms into his eyes, all he could see was crimson. The color of her hair. He sighed again and pushed his hair back from his forehead.
