Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

Kurenai
the crimson immortal
Kurenai and Aidan arrived at her apartment complex downtown not too long after leaving Starlight beach. It was a good ten minutes from there to here. Kurenai rented a one-bedroom apartment on the first floor. Being close to the ground was the most convenient place for her to be. Upon arrival, Kurenai got the boulder she had rode to her place to shrink to the size of a pebble as if she were crumbling a piece of paper into a ball. She showed Aidan where to park his bike then took them inside her apartment.
Kurenai unlocked her front door and inside was a small end table lamp left on that dimly lit the room so she could see when she came home. Next to the table by the door, was a orange couch, large enough for someone of Kurenai's height to sleep on. In front of the couch was a marble stone coffee table that you wouldn't find in any furniture store since Kurenai used her gifts to make. On top was a little glass bowl that had keys and other little miscellaneous items lying inside. She dropped the pebble that once was a sea stone and house keys inside it. Behind the couch, there was a rather wide window covered by blinds. As you got further in, there was a doorway leading to a kitchenette with a fridge, gas stove, sink, some above counter cabinets above the sink. The floors were tiled and on the other side was a small dinning table with two chairs and a nice china cabinet standing across the way.
Kurenai's apartment was fairly nice. She opened the hall closet, grabbing some blankets and pillows along with a traditional Japanese guest futon. "I know its not much but, feel free to make yourself at home, I figured the guest futon would be a bit better than the couch. I'll just have to move the coffee table and it can easily be set up." She said as she set everything she grabbed down on the floor on the other side of the coffee table. It didn't take much more than her hands glowing and a literal flick of her wrist to make the coffee table slide up to be right up against the couch. Kurenai then set up the futon. Once that was all settled. She stood back up, gravity once again making her chest bounce a bit. She looked over at Aidan and smiled. "Welcome to my home. I hope you'll feel comfortable here Aidan." She said while looking up at him.
Aidan parked his bike where Kurenai showed him. And watched as she shrunk the boulder she had been riding on into a small stone. He was still impressed by her ability to manipulate earth. He glanced up at the small one bedroom apartment. It was nice. Like everything else he'd seen in town so far. This whole town. It really is a nice place. he thinks as he swings his legs off the bike and follows Kurenai into her apartment.
He stepped into what he assumed to be the parlor judging by the orange couch. It looked comfortable to him. The again he assumed anything would be more comfortable than a bike seat or a bedroll in the dirt. He noted the marble coffee table and made a mental note to ask Kurenai where she had gotten it later. Or maybe she made it. Her ability to manipulate rocks, sand, and other forms of geodes would be useful if you wanted to craft something out of stone. He snapped out of his thoughts as he heard her speak.
"I think it's great. Much better than what I'm used to sleeping on. Thanks again. Do you want me to help you set it up?" he asked as he sat his pack and helmet on the floor by the small end table. Pulling off his riding gloves he watched her set up the futon and he kneeled down to help her straighten things out. He stood back up as she did and smiled down at her as their eyes met again.
"I couldn't be more comfortable," he said softly as he gazed into her eyes. "I don't know what it is, and this probably sounds crazy. But I feel like I've been searching for you. Like that everything I've done has led me to here to this town. To this place..." he said as he reached up and gently caressed the side of her face.
As Aidan spoke beautiful, sweet words to Kurenai, they gazed into each other's eyes. His words could easily make her melt. When Aidan gently caressed the side of her face. Kurenai blushed intensely. Even though his hands were cold due to the chilly seaside air, her hot cheeks would warm them up. She couldn't look away from him, she felt as if his deep brown eyes would suck her in. However, all of sudden, a loud meow broke the silence. A rather fat cat walked in from the kitchen, rubbing up against Kurenai's leg. "Oh! Tamago! What's wrong buddy? Are you out of food?" She said breaking away from Aidan's gaze, bending down to pick up the large grey cat before standing back up. "Sorry Aidan, this is my cat, Tamago, I call him Tama for short. Anyways, you're all good here, I should see what Tamago needs." She said as she walked off and into the kitchen while holding the cat up like a baby. The cat watched Aidan from over Kurenai's shoulder, shooting him a smug look.
Once in the kitchen, Kurenai sets Tama down on the floor, then goes to check his food, water and litter box. Everything is fine. He has plenty of food, water and his litter box barely has any poop in it. Kurenai lets out a sigh. "Jeez cat, why did you act like you needed something back there?" She said shooting her cat a look from over her shoulder. Tamago just meowed happily while rubbing against her leg and purring. She couldn't help but sigh and smile at her furry companion. She then walked back out into the front room. "I'm going to go hop in the shower. I won't be long. Tamago can keep you company while I'm not here." She said looking to her cat standing near her. However, Tamago looked shocked. Kurenai headed down the hall but stopped and turned around to say, "Play nice boys, no fighting okay?" Then she continued to the bathroom.
Once inside, she stripped out of her clothes, and turned the shower on. Sat on the little chair to get clean. She first shampooed and conditioned her hair. After that she washed her body and then rinsed all the soap off. She had already drawn a mineral bath for herself before leaving for the beach. After lifting the tub cover, the built up steam came flowing out, she hoped in. Making a small splash in the process. Just before hoping in, she put her hair up in a wrap towel to prevent the mineral bath water from messing with her hair. Kurenai let out a sigh of relief and pleasure. So much had happened tonight. Offering to take a stranger in and give him a place to stay. What was she thinking? About fifteen to thirty minutes passed before she got out of the bath. As she went to reach for a towel off, she slipped on her bar soap. In attempt to save herself from a nasty fall, she grabbed the towel on the rack but it was no use, she fell flat on her ass with a thud and a girlish shriek. The towel she had desperately grabbed onto, landed on her head after she made contact with the floor. Luckily she only bruised her butt. What a cliche accident. She really couldn't believe herself.
Aidan could feel the heat the two of them made and his own heart quickened it's beat as he gazed deeply into those amber eyes. Noting the blush and feeling his own throat go dry as he began to inch towards her. The moment was broken however by the meow of a very fat cat. Aidan glanced down at the cat and laughed lightly, his brown eyes landing on the large gray feline. He listened as Kurenai addressed the cat and picked him up before heading towards the kitchen. Aidan felt his smile fade as the cat looked at him smugly. Guess he just wanted to make sure I know my place here... he thinks as he listens to Kurenai in the kitchen. He pulls off the brown blazer he is wearing and flexes his arms and chest again, glancing around the room, taking everything in. He kicks his boots off as he walked around the front room and flipped one of the shades down his brown eyes scanning the street. It was a nice neighborhood, he was thankful that Kurenai had taken him in. It wasn't easy trying to start over in a new town. I don't want to fall back on my old habits again... he thinks as his mind goes back to all the violence that has been haunting him for the past 10 years.
It never seems to end...always someone else to fight...someone else they wanted you to kill..
He glanced up from the blinds letting them close as Kurenai walked back into the front room. He heard her mention taking a shower and he nodded at her.
"Go ahead... I'll hang out with Tama...if we're gonna be roomies I guess I should get to know him," Aidan said with a smile as he looked back to the fat cat noting the way the cat looked shocked and upset at having to keep him company. He watched the gorgeous crimson haired woman head to the bathroom before turning back to the cat who was gazing at him mistrustfully.
"We'll get along fine!" he calls out to her.
"Sorry man. Look I know I'm not the greatest pick in the world. I'm happy she let me stay here. I'm not used to others being so kind to me. Not after everything I've been through and seen. Thank you for having me Tamago." Aidan says as he squats down next to the cat and holds out his hands for the cat to come toward him so he can pet it. "I don't know her that well, but I feel like she understands me better than anyone else ever has. After all the horror and hardship it's absolutely incredible to find someone who feels the same way you do. Look at these.." Aidan said as he pulls his shirt off to show the cat his scars. It was an odd thing to do, but the normal people he talked to in bars and pubs were always fond of showing off their scars and tattoos. His body was heavily muscled and scarred with the exception of a large tattoo that covered his right arm and part of his neck.
"You know something about this tattoo Tama..I got it to cover up another one. I'll tell you that story sometime..." Aidan said as he sits back against the couch and looks at the wall as the cat walks over to him and sits next to him. He reaches out and scratches the cat behind the ears. That tattoo... Aidan thinks as he reaches his left arm over and grabs his own arm. He can still see the other tattoo clearly in his mind.
He was still thinking about his story when he suddenly heard a crash from the bathroom. Jumping to his feet immediately, he sprints towards the bathroom.
"Kurenai are you ok?!" he yells as he slams into the door knocking it open and ready to attack whoever had attacked Kurenai. As he sprinted into the bathroom, he slips in a small puddle and fell forwards spreading his arms to catch his fall as he landed directly on top of Kurenai. Who he was now noticing had just slipped as she got out of tub. He landed hard on his right knee and his hands almost nose to nose with Kurenai. The towel that she had tried to grab had landed on her head covering her face and eyes.
He pulled the towel off of her head to see if she was ok. His own brown eyes full of concern. For some reason it took a second to realize that she was naked, and that he was shirtless and their skin was pressed together. He could feel the heat coming from her and he quickly tried to stand up and back away and ended up slipping again on the soap landing on top of her again. His palms landing on either side of her shoulders and his eyes locking with hers again. He felt his heart quicken again and he tried to look away.
"Uh...I'm sorry...I didn't mean to intrude on you! I thought something might have happened!" he said as he as tried to look away, blushing and closing his eyes. Even though he really wanted to look. He Tried once more to get to his feet. He was beginning to panic. The situation would have been comical but he didn't want to offend the girl who had just taken him in. And hoped that he hadn't.
Just as Kurenai was getting ready to get up off the floor, Aidan came bursting into the bathroom sprinting towards her. From what it seemed he must have heard her crash and scream from the living room and came to check on her. However, while valiant and noble, he slipped on a small puddle, falling right on top of her, almost nose to nose with Kurenai. He pulled the towel off her head, uncovering her eyes that had been blocked from seeing by it. He had a look of concern in his eyes until a moment later and he realized she was stark naked. Not to mention, he was shirtless, and their bodies were pressed up against each other. Kurenai's face was completely red, up to her ears, despite having lived for so long, she hadn't gotten close to many people because most of them would be dead long before her. Aidan tried to get up and off her but it was no good, he ended up slipping on the same bar of soap she had earlier. Only this time, when he fell, he pushed her down onto the floor, the palms of his hands landed on either side of Kurenai's shoulders. Their eyes locked once more but Aidan quickly looked away while blushing almost as hard as Kurenai. He nervously apologized while trying to explain himself to her. She could tell he wasn't trying to peek, he was just concerned for her. Even though it looked like he wanted to look at her, he was trying to be a gentleman. Kurenai quickly grabbed the to that was lying on the floor next to them at the same time Aidan tried to get up once more. By the time he would be standing, Kurenai's body would be well covered. "You're fine... I know you weren't trying to do anything bad, I did kinda shriek as if I were in trouble so..." She said, looking away from him. She was so embarrassed, she couldn't afford to look him in the eyes. "F-feel free to use the shower now, I'm gonna go get dressed. See ya!" She said as she hurried out of the bathroom and into her room. Shutting her bedroom door loudly. Once inside, she let out a giant sigh of relief. Who would have thought she'd actually ever end up in one of those cliche bath scenes from an anime like that. Kurenai tried to shake it off and get changed. She slipped on an over-sized yellow t-shirt, a pair of underwear and some cotton white shorts. Now that she was dressed, she came out of her room, only to be greeted by Tamago meowing. She reached down and scratched behind his left ear before walking back over to the bathroom and knocking to see if Aidan was using it. She wanted to grab her hair dryer. "H-hey Aidan, you in there? Can I come in?" She said nervously then waited for a reply.
Aidan stood as Kurenai sprinted from the room wrapping a towel around herself. He looked away as he heard her say that everything was fine. He scratched his head nervously and apologized again and he felt her dart by him out of the bathroom. He sighed loudly as she did the same, although he didn't know that. He stepped out of the bathroom and walked over to his back, squatting down beside it he rummaged around until he came up with another pair of jeans. Luckily for him the jeans were still clean. In fact they were the only clean clothes he had left. After spending a week on the road to get here he hadn't really considered laundry to be something he would need to do.
You didn't anticipate meeting someone like her either... he thinks as he sighs again and heads for the bathroom. He closed the door as he went inside and laid the jeans on sink and pulled the rest of his clothes off. He looked at himself silently in the mirror, his eyes once more landing on the tribal tattoo on his right arm. Not the best idea for a tattoo but tribal tattoos are usually cheaper and it covered what I wanted it too right? he thinks as he steps inside the shower and stares at the knobs. He'd always hated trying to figure out how other showers worked. He twisted a few knobs and experimented until he got the water right and he stuck his head under the water, feeling the remains of the long day and ride up to Lorsette run off of him like the water was doing now. He looked at the shampoo and wondered if Kurenai would mind if he used her shampoo. He decided he would ask her, rather than risk it. And he stepped out of the shower and headed for the door wrapping one of the towels around his waist. He decided he would apologize again for the mistake that had just happened as well.
He reached the door and opened it right as Kurenai knocked. He stared at her surprised for a second before clearing his throat and hanging his head. She was wearing a rather large yellow t-shirt and white shorts.
"Uh..hey.. yeah go ahead. I can finish later...Is it alright if I use some of your shampoo. I didn't really pack for this kind of stuff when I left," he said as he looked at the floor between his feet. Trying not to make the moment awkward. That's true...you didn't....you just packed whatever you could get your hands on and bailed...in retrospect, it's probably the best choice I've ever made... he looks at Kurenai, his wet hair hanging in front of his face and water still running down his body.
The moment after she knocked, the door opened to reveal a bare-chested and dripping wet Aidan, wrapped in a towel around his waist. They locked eyes for a moment before Aidan cast his eyes down. Seeing him this way, Kurenai's face started to red again. She swallowed, making a gulping sound. His hair was dripping wet. When he apologized again, she let out a sigh through her nostrils and smiled. "Ah jeez..." she said before grabbing his cheeks and making him look at her. Kurenai's face still a bit red, but barely visible against her fair skin. "You don't have to apologize, okay? Sure I was embarrassed having a guy see me naked like that but I know the only reason you came into the bathroom was to check on me. Besides, you should feel lucky, in my entire life, no other man has seen me naked." She said with a grin and a wink in order to try and make him feel better. Kurenai could tell he had no bad intentions with her. She went into the bathroom, taking Aidan's hand leading him in with her back over to the shower. Once over at the shower, she let go. Kurenai picked up a mint green bottle and handed it to him. "this is my shampoo. I don't recommend using too much though since too much is bad for your hair." Kurenai then pointed at the smaller blue bottle that was sitting next to the shampoo and the pink bottle that was larger than the blue and green bottle. "The blue bottle is conditioner, and the pink one is body wash. Though a heads up, you'll smell like a spring flower garden after using all three. Especially the body wash. If that doesn't bug you, feel free to use it too." She said as she grabbed her hair dryer from the cabinet under the sink. Then exited the bathroom so Aidan could take his shower in peace. She closed the door behind her and walked down the hall to her bedroom. Tamago was already inside, sitting on the bed like he was waiting for her. She sat down next to the fat grey cat, scratching him behind the ears. She reached over to the power strip that was between her bed and bedside table to plug the hair dryer in. Kurenai then turned it on and started to dry her hair.
Aidan felt the tension leave his body as she lifted his face so he could look back into her eyes. Hearing her speak he relaxed even more and allowed himself to be led over to the shower. He was speechless at what she said to him and about the wink. He wanted to say something witty but he seemed unable to come up with anything. Come on man, are you really that dumb. he thinks as he watches Kurenai until she leaves the bathroom. He sighed as he switched the shower over to cold tossed the towel off from around his waist and stuck his head under the icy water. Something about her touch, her voice, just the way she looked at him. It soothed him, but it also made his heart speed up. The beast that had been roaring inside for the past month was quiet.
I haven't felt this at ease in a month. Maybe longer...not since I left... Aidan thinks as he reaches for the shampoo and picks up the mint green bottle. He squeezed some of it out into the palm of his hand before lathering it into his hair and rinsing it out. He opens his eyes and stares down at the soapy water as it disappears down the drain. I shouldn't have left like I did...but after what Alistair did...what he knew...I can never forgive him for that... he thinks as his right hand bunches into a fist. He felt anger welling up inside of him. He'd been angry for the past month. Or angrier than usual. All the drinking and bar brawls in the world never changed anything. All the punches and physical pain didn't dull the ache he felt in his chest and guilt.
"Tatsuya....I'm sorry..." he said softly as he hung his head in the water, his wet hair hiding his eyes. It should have been me... he thinks as he closes his eyes tightly. Forcing the image of Tatsuya out of his head. Sighing lightly he considered the conditioner before deciding and picking up the body wash. He washed his body well, and stepped out of the shower, picking up the towel and drying himself off. Glancing at the floor, he remember falling on top of Kurenai and feeling her warm skin next to his.
She really is beautiful... he thinks as he grabs the jeans and pulls them on, walking over to the door and pulling it open. He stepped out into the hall and looked at Kurenai as she sat on her bed. He smiled at her before speaking.
"Thank you for taking me in, Kurenai. I honestly hadn't given any thought about what to do once I got here. Thanks for the shower as well. If you want to talk or if you need anything just shout again," he said with a small laugh that didn't touch his sad eyes. He glanced at the cat. He didn't want to stare at her knowing very well that he could very easily get lost in those bright amber eyes again.
"I'm not used to people being so kind to me.." Aidan said softly as he watched the fat grey cat. "Everyone I was close to ended up dying. Eventually I ended up on the streets fighting for my life and to make money to survive. It was a hard life, but it helped shape me into who I am now. I also met some others like me, they took me in, and became my family. The Enclave." he said as his mind goes back to the rest of the group and that first day he had met Alistair and Asuka. He wasn't the same then. He was bright and supportive...when had things changed?
"But I ended up doing a lot of things that I'm not proud of. I hurt many, and even killed some. I'm not a good person...I want to be. I'm trying to change for the better. I feel like being here, with you. I can do that. I know we've only just met. But there is something about you Kurenai, that makes me want to try harder. I'd also really like to get to know you better," Aidan says as he reaches up and scratches the back of his head. He was embarrassed to have said such things, and his face had gone red. He tried to cover it up and lean against the doorway and act cool, but he missed and ended up stumbling forward into the room and falling face first onto the floor at Kurenai's feet.
After her long, crimson locks had mostly been dried by the heat of her blow dryer, she turned it off, unplugging it from the power strip and placing it on her bedside table. Once the noise from it had stopped, she could hear the shower water running. As she listened to it, images of Aidan from earlier, floated into her mind, causing her cheeks to grow warm. While she was tryimg to clear such thoughts from her mind, the shower water stopped as she could hear the squeak the shower knobs made when turned. She grabbed the hair brush from the drawer in her bedside table and began to brush through her crimson hair, starting from the bottom. While doing this, Aidan suddenly appeared before her in the doorway of her bedroom. Tamago who had been laying down next to Kurenai up till now, shot him a glare. As Kurenai brushed her hair, she listened intently to Aidan's story of his past. Hearing him talk of such hardships made her heart ache. However, the heartache soon turned into loud, quick thumping, followed by her cheeks growing red upon him telling Kurenai he felt that by being with her, he could really become a better person. She smiled softly at hearing this, looking down at her lap. Next thing she knew, Aidan was face first on the floor in front of her feet. She let out a laugh but tried to hold back, she felt bad laughing at him but he was just so clumsy, she couldn't help it.
Kurenai stood up from her bed, lending him a hand to get up from the floor. If he took it, she'd pull him up on his feet with one swift yank, then she would sit back down. "well, since you told me about your past, its only fair if I share mine." She said with a slightly reluctant smile. "I was actually born over four-hundred years ago in Japan. My other gift is the gift of immortality. It awakened when I was twenty, and took full effect after turning twenty-one. Neither of my parents had this gift. I inherited my gifts from other members of my family. My mom always had a weak constitution since I was born. My dad died in shipwreck caused by a Tsunami that hit the pacific ocean." She thought back on her past for a few moments. Aidan said he wasn't a good person, that he had killed people before. "I was courted by a feudal lord's pig of a sun when I worked for a local inn. Back then, gifted humans were rare. He wanted me for a concubine in his harem and promised to take care of both me and my mom for the rest of our lives. He just wanted a couple of rare women as trophies. I rejected him but he wouldn't take no for an answer. At first, he would just send lavish gifts to my work place and home. When that didn't work, he put pressure on my employer and the local physician to try and corner me. When I lost my temper and told him off, he crossed a line. He paid some thugs to set our home on fire. If my gift of strength didn't awaken then, we probably would have ended up both dead. I survived but my mother inhaled too much of the smoke and she died... in my arms not long after we escaped." Kurenai pauses as she recalls the night of her mother's death. Tears formed in the corners of her eyes. "You said you weren't a good person Aidan you said you hurt and killed people. Well, I'm not much better in that case. I sought out and killed that pig in a fit of rage. I strangled him by the neck until he drew last breath. Even broke his neck after the fact." After she said that, she wiped the tears from her eyes that still hadn't fallen down her cheeks yet before continuing. "I then left my home in Fukuoka and began traveling around Japan until I met my mother's brother, my uncle while in Kyoto. I ended up inheriting two of his gifts. One I already told you about and the other was the gift of earth manipulation. He taught me how to control my gifts and how to fight. After I left my uncle's I traveled around to different countries using my gifts to help people in need. By the time I realized it, it was the 21st century and I had ended up here, in Lorsette, that was about a hundred years ago now I think." she said as she put her index finger to the right of her mouth, looking upwards and in thought as she attempted to recall how long it had been exactly since she came here. Her process of thought was soon interrupted by a low-tone, loud meow from tamago who was trying to get his master's attention. She smiled at her feline companion, petting his head and scratching behind his ear. Kurenai then jumped up from her bed. "So there you have it, that's my past. That pig bastard wasn't the only person I've killed either. Sometimes, there wasn't a choice. I did what I had to do in order to protect the people around me. Even if meant I would stain my hands to match the color of my hair." She said with a smile but her eyes were sad.
Aidan reached up and took Kurenai's hand and was pulled to his feet. Listening to her speak and explain about the horrors of her own past he felt bad for her. Not just for what she had went through, but because he understood how it felt to be alone. Do you really understand it Aidan? She's been living that way for over 400 years. What you've been through doesn't add up to someone living four lifetimes worth of loneliness. Having lost the people you held most dear to you in this world. You've been punishing yourself for the past month over the death of Tatsuya... he thinks as his own eyes go dark and sad. It hurt to think about Tatsuya, and about the last time he and the boy had talked. He leans against the wall next to the bed and listens sadly as she continues to tell her story. He listened intently, hanging onto every word that she said. When she finished he looks up meeting her sad eyes with his own.
"I'm sorry you had to go through all of that Kurenai. I can't even begin to imagine what you've felt or been through for the past 400 years. I do know one thing, fighting for others is the only good thing I've ever been able to do. You have a good heart, it must've been really tough being here for the past 100 or so years..." Aidan said as he searches her beautiful face. She had looked amazingly cute to him as she was thinking and he felt that his heart might burst. He reaches his hands out to take Kurenai's own as she jumps up from the bed in front of him. He noticed that the cat was still scowling at him. Sorry buddy... he thinks before looking down at Kurenai. He felt himself blushing, from being so close to her but he was determined to stand his ground. She was close enough for him to smell flowery scent of the shampoo that she had just recently used.
"I am immortal too. It happened a couple of years ago actually, my body just stopped aging. So if you'll let me, I'll promise you something. I'll always be here for you...that way neither one of us will have to worry about being alone anymore...I'll always be here for you..." Aidan said as he squeezes her hands with his own before reaching up and touching the side of her face, his brown eyes searched her amber ones as he held her face one of his hands. He forced his hand to be still and not to shake as he gently caressed the side of her face. He realized that he had never been so nervous about anything in his entire life. From breaking into high security areas, to being in fights with enemies who far out numbered him, nothing even came close to this one moment for him.

Kurenai
the crimson immortal
When Kurenai had jumped up from her bed, Aidan took her hands in his. A bit earlier after hearing most of what she had to say, he apologized to her, saying he was sorry for what she had to go through as well as commending her for fighting for the sake of others. Once Aidan was holding Kurenai's hands in his, he revealed himself to be immortal as well but his gift of immortality had only awoken two years prior to them meeting making Aidan still much younger than the crimson immortal. As Kurenai was thinking back to the words her uncle had once spoke to her, she felt Aidan squeeze her hands. This made Kurenai look up to meet his gaze. Aidan spoke of promising to remain by Kurenai's side so neither of them have to feel alone ever again. Aside from Akira, in all her years of prolonged life, not once has Kurenai ever had a friend who death did not take from her. At some point in the past three hundred years, Kurenai ceased trying to build real bonds with others, she was always friendly but, had never opened up to anyone because she knew she'd ultimately out live them and it was always painful no matter what. Upon hearing Aidan promise to stay by her, tears began forming once more in the corners of her eyes. She felt his hand caress the side of her face, her pulse quickened, her cheeks grew warm and were now flushed a rosy red color. As they gazed into each other's eyes, Kurenai slowly closed her's as she started to inch her face in closer to Aidan's.
Aidan leaned closer to Kurenai closing his own eyes as he felt his lips brush against hers. Her lips were soft, softer than he had imagined. He brushed one of the tears at the corner of her eye away gently and plunged his hand into that bright crimson hair. His lips part as he deepens their kiss. The hand that was still holding hers dropping and going to her slim waist to pull her closer to him. He wanted to feel her, all of her against him. The only thing he could think about was her, his mind was blank and the sweet flowery scent that he had noticed earlier seemed to be everywhere. It didn't last long, but for him the moment seemed to last for eternity. Every sense he had seemed to be heightened for that one moment where his lips were connected to hers.
As he gently broke apart from their kiss he leaned his forehead against hers and held her next to him. His heart was still thudding in his chest but the nervousness he had been feeling had passed. Now he just felt ecstatic. He raised his lips and kissed her forehead before lowering his own head against hers again. He was content to hold her like this and feel her warm body against his.
"Kurenai..." he whispered her name as he held her. Opening his eyes he would look down at her. Realizing that he was breathing rather heavily, he slowly tried to get himself back under control. He caressed the side of her face again. Looking down at her like that. He had never seen anyone more beautiful. His heart was now thudding so loudly he was sure that she would be able to hear it as well.
Aidan and Kurenai's lips brushed against each other's. Tamago was in shock seeing the two kiss. A sweet sensation followed right after. Aidan's lips were a bit chapped but still rather soft. She felt his arm wrap around her waist, pulling her in close. Both of their hearts were thudding loudly in their chests. Kurenai had kissed before but never had it felt like this before. Aidan deepened their kiss. It felt like it could last an eternity, even after they parted lips, she could still feel the sensation as if their lips were still connected. Once parted, Aidan put her forehead against her's and whispered her name as continued to hold her. Kurenai's face was now completely red. Kurenai's heart wouldn't calm down even as he stood there, holding her. He caressed the side of her face once more. Then moved up slightly to kiss her forehead before he rested his against her's once more.
Kurenai wanted to ask him why he kissed her but before she could even say his name. Tamago attacked Aidan by body slamming him in the head. However, Tamago's attempt to separate the two, had the possibility of knocking them both over. If that happened, Kurenai would end up being pinned down by Aidan or vice versa.
Aidan's heart was still racing. He wasn't exactly sure what had come over him. Or if anything at all had, he had merely reacted to what had felt right. He felt something deep inside, and holding her like this, in his arms, felt right. He smiled down at her beautiful face. Freezing the moment in his own mind forever. Even though it had lasted only seconds, it seemed to have lasted an eternity for him.
He started to say something else when something large and gray leaped at his face. In his panic he raised his hand that had been on Kurenai's face but the large cat had surprised him and knocked him off balance. He tumbled backwards pulling Kurenai with him since his arm was still wrapped around her waist. He flexed his back muscles to take most of the blow from the floor and pulled Kurenai closer to him, wrapping the hand that had been trying to fend off the cat around her shoulders. He felt the wind get forced out of his lungs as the cat jumped off of him and continued to glare at him. Aidan wasn't sure if it was going to attack him again or not, but he realized what the problem had been.
"Are you ok?" he asks Kurenai. Sounding concerned as he unwraps his arms from around her. He glances at her, who would now be lying on his chest if she tumbled over with him. That cat, is one jealous animal. I've read about animal's getting jealous before. I guess I over stepped my welcome. Sorry Tama... he thinks as he closes his eyes and allow his head to drop to the floor with a thud.
"I don't think your cat cares much for me. Maybe I overstepped my bounds. I...uh...I'm sorry...I didn't mean.... you know, about everything..." he says as he scratches his head and tries to act like everything is ok. Is is though? That kiss sure didn't feel like nothing to me.... he thinks as he gazes up at the ceiling of her room. His heart was still thudding loudly in his chest, and he knew it was just from the excitment of tussling with Tama the cat.
Why do I feel this way...I miss the others..Asuka, Tatsuya. Everyone...I spent so much time worrying about everyone else. Making sure they got out alive, that I never once stopped to think about how I felt, or my own emotions. I guess I was kind of emotionally crippled. It's not that I couldn't feel anything, it's more like I took on so much I wasn't able to think about things for myself. But being here...right now...with her..
Kurenai had been pulled to the ground when Aidan was knocked off balance in Tamago's attack. She was now pressed firmly against his body, more so than before, she felt her face grow hot and her heart rate increase. Aidan seemed to have taken the brunt of the fall to protect her from more damage. Tamago continued to glare at the two. Aidan spoke up, saying how he didn't think Tamago liked him much. Followed by an apology. Kurenai couldn't help but laugh. "Sorry, I'm not making fun or anything, its just tamago doesn't like strangers much, especially males. He's the jealous type, plus, I rarely have guests over so its a rare situation. Anyways, you don't have to apologize for anything... it was.. mutual so, don't feel bad, okay?" She said, breaking out of his embrace and getting off of Aidan, she then offered him a hand to help him up. If he took her hand, she would pull him to his feet in a single swift tug. "It's getting late, maybe we should turn in. I'm sure you're tired too, right?"
