Apollon Ra Dawn "Demons, Angels, and Humans...I've seen the best, and worst of them all..." general info
appearance Apollon has golden blonde hair, and has a very athletic build. His skin is pale despite spending a great deal of time outdoors, and while he is not giant like a body builder, he has the muscle of a man who engages in regular workout routines. Aside from this his eyes share the same golden color of his hair, and seem to shine with the radiance of the sun. His usual attire is a white long sleeve button up shirt, with a pair of black slacks. A single gold bracelet adorns his right hand, but otherwise he wears no other jewelry, or accessories. When he is using his abilities golden symbols appear on his skin, and glow with a golden energy. He also tends to fight shirtless as he doesn't like to burn his nice shirts. personality Confident is the word that most accurately summarizes his entire personality. Being alive for so long, and surviving tends to afford one some measure of confidence. Though sometimes it borders on arrogance, Apollon has complete faith in his own abilities, and his ability to do whatever it is that he pleases. It also doesn't help that once upon a time he was worshiped as a god, and one doesn't forget that kind of devotion easily. Especially when it was for hundreds of years. Though despite his semi arrogance he does have a sweet side, and like the myths say, he does enjoy writing poetry, and wooing himself into the hearts of women. A die hard romantic no gesture is to grand for him when he sets his sights on a woman that he wants. However he mainly uses other women as a distraction to help him get over his loneliness. Immortality for all of it's grandeur also offers a solitude that is almost unbearable to the normal man. He longs for the return of his one true love, where ever she may be. Apollon for all of his kindness, and sweetness can easily turn a one eighty, and will rain down swift vengeance on those who insult him, and those that he considers friends. He is not above petty revenge, and for something that others consider just a mild slight, can be considered a grave insult to him. Someone once made fun of his mother, and he murdered all of her children in the span of a day. He is not someone to be trifled with. Due to his great age he holds a cynical outlook on humanity having watched them war with each other in the name of their gods, and slaughter brother, and sister alike just to get ahead in life. He thinks out of all the creatures in the universe that humans are the absolute worst, and that there is no use in saving them. Thinking that it would be better if they were all just wiped out so that creation could start anew. Though he has met a few people during his life that have made him reconsider this particular point of view on occasion. abilities Heliokinesis: Apollon is a walking solar battery, and all of his other powers are derived from this single one. With this ability he can generate the flames of the sun, more specifically it is plasma generation, and manipulation. However if he does so desire he can just generate, and manipulate heat without summoning forth any plasma. His mastery of this ability is absolute, and he is able to create constructs from the plasma that he summons, though normally he creates a bow, and uses it to launch Sun Arrows at his enemies. Along with his signature bow he creates a set of flaming wings, and together with his heat manipulation, and the winged constructs it allows him to fly. Wreathing himself in his own flames to ward off would be attackers, and being able to launch the flames at enemies in varying forms like spears, or simply fireballs. Apollon also absorbs any form of solar radiation, and uses it to fuel his abilities, and so his power fluctuates in strength with the sun. With his peak strength being at the hours between dawn, and noon. However after the noon his power begins to wane, and weaken, and when the sun is down his power is diminished to half. While his power is diminished at night he can't use this ability to fly as it drains his reserves of solar energy to quickly to sustain. Being the god of the sun he is immune to his own fire. Regeneration/Immortality: Apollon possesses a healing factor that is stronger, or weaker depending on the time of the day. During his peak hours of Dawn to Noon minor wounds heal instantly (scratches, small cuts, and the like), and moderate wounds heal in a matter of minutes (stabbing, impalement, gunshot). Severe wounds would heal in hours (organ trauma, having an arm removed etc) and he is capable of regenerating limbs, or reattaching them if said limb is nearby so that he can place it to the bloody stump. Even during his strongest period however he is not invincible, and severe wounds would still slow him down, and decapitation is a surefire way to kill him, along with heart removal, and blood loss if he doesn't heal quick enough. He is immune to most diseases, and toxins thanks to this ability. However like his other ability this healing factor is tied to his exposure to the sun. If he is not in some form of sunlight he uses the reserves of solar energy in his body to heal, and those reserves last for about two hours after he is cut off from sunlight. With no reserves in his body, or source of sunlight his ability to heal injuries is negated. His blood also possesses the ability to heal others if it is ingested by them, and can help someone survive an otherwise deadly encounter. It is thanks to this power that he is seemingly immortal as the aging process halted when he reached the physical age of twenty five. Peak Human Condition: Living centuries, fighting in wars, and many other things have given Apollon a perfected body. His strength, reflexes, speed, durability, stamina, agility, and senses are superior to that of an Olypmic level athlete. He can lift up to a thousand pounds, run at an estimated 30mph, or sprint at 60mph in short bursts. He is durable enough to fall form several stories, and get back up. Apollon can exert himself at peak capacity for 2 hours straight before fatigue begins to settle in. His reflexes are honed enough that he can dodge incoming gunfire, and coordinate his limbs perfectly to fight large groups of enemies with ease. All of his senses are also pushed to the pinnacle of human performance as well, allowing him to hear sounds from all but the quietest creatures, having a sense of smell more akin to that of an animals. Seeing further away with more accuracy than a normal person, and having a far more sensitive sense of taste, and touch. backstory "What people don't realize is...Reality is always stranger than fiction..." Over eight thousand years ago a boy was born to a tribe of humans during the stone age. His hair was golden, as was his eyes, and many of the others feared his appearance as the rest of them had dark hair, and didn't understand his strange appearance. His mother convinced them that he was a gift from the gods that they worshiped. Being a very superstitious folk they dare not anger the gods, and so they all welcomed him into the tribe without further question. His mother every vigilant did her best to nurture him, and raise him to be a fearsome warrior within their tribe. And so he was raised to be a hunter like the other men in his tribe, and he was given a bow, and taught to hunt, and track like the rest. While they all viewed him as a gift of the gods, it didn't stop other males from getting jealous of the attention he got, and some wished to harm him. On his marking day he received the markings of the hunter on his body as was customary, and sent out to hunt on his own. If he failed then he would be exiled from the tribe, but if he succeeded he would be recognized as a full hunter. So he embarked on his journey... Three days passed, and at the end of the third day he returned with a Sabertooth, and tossed it in front of the chief. With a smile on his lips the chief embraced him, and they held a celebration as was the custom for his success. That night was one of happiness for him as he became a full hunter. It would also be the night that he lost, and gained everything... "You know I wasn't always a god...There was a time when I was just like the rest of you...Weak, and helpless.." As he dreamt he was awoken abruptly by the screams of his mother. Grabbing his bow, and arrows he headed to the source to see one of the other men from the village holding his mother by her hair. A knife at her throat. This man was angry, and jealous of how everyone viewed Apollon as the pride of their tribe. Viewing it as not fair he aimed to take everything from the newly dubbed hunter. Without hesitation the man drove the crude stone knife into his mothers neck. Something within him broke as he rushed over to his dying mother, and held her in his arms crying out. He felt a sharp pain in his back as the man had driven the same knife into his back. Fury overrode his sense of reason, and he felt something inside of him boil over as he stepped over the proverbial deep end. He didn't understand what was happening to him, as flames as bright as the sun surrounded his body, and quickly lit his mothers body on fire. Focusing his fury on the man he stood up as he pried the knife out of his back. His markings were glowing as he held out his hand, and a ball of fire appeared in his hands. The other man appeared frantic, but he held his ground, and charged at the raging inferno that was Apollon. While it was a brave attempt it was futile as he was incinerated. In his uncontrolled grief, and rage Apollon destroyed his entire tribe with his out of control flames killing those that were not fast enough to out run his heat. While he had killed the man responsible for his mothers death, he saw the devastation that he had caused, and realized in that moment he wasn't like the others. Slowly his hunter markings disappeared into his skin. "Oh I remember Greece...I had such a fun time there...Even met my soul mate..." Millenia passed, and Apollon wandered aimlessly around the world until he came upon a civilization of people who were more advanced than his own tribe had been. He didn't know how long he had wandered as he had lost count of the days, but one thing that he did see were temples erected to strange beings that he didn't' recognized. After further investigation he realized that these were temples to the gods of these people. Feeling lost he wandered into the temple of one of their gods hoping that he would be able to speak with them. Over the past few thousand years he had learned more about his abilities though he had opted to keep them hidden from others for risk of making others fear him, or hurting them even though he had gained control. The sun was setting, and he knew that he would be weaker until it rose again. Upon his entrance to the temple of this god he was stopped by the Priestesses. They told him that no men were allowed in this temple as it was for maidens only. Not wishing to raise alarm to these newcomers he nodded, and turned to leave before they attempted to get the drop on him. Their fangs gripped his flesh greedily as they began to drink his blood. Snarling his flames were summoned forth, and he wreathed his body in the fire burning the two women to get them to stop. His glowing hunter marks appearing as he held two balls of fire in each hand as he demanded to know what they were doing. Terrified of him they backed away their badly burned faces now covered by hands as they bowed before him, and called him one word. "God..." Then she appeared the woman that changed his life. She had hair the color of moonlight, and a beauty that soothed the fire in his soul the moment he saw her. Her eyes were the color of the moonlight, and she moved with the poise, and elegance of a hunter. It was in this moment that he understood what love was, and she introduced herself as the Goddess Artemis...The Huntress... "Nowadays they call Artemis a Goddess of Chastity, meaning that she was chaste...Yeah right, that woman could do things that would make an entire brothel blush." Centuries passed, and he was soon added to the pantheon of gods that these people worshiped along with his lover Artemis. Though for some reason the mortals thought that they were siblings. Perhaps it was because he only came out during the day, and she only came out during the night. Regardless they often spent much time together, and he soon found that her skill with the bow matched his own, and she was his equal in every way. He was her sun, and she was his moon. For their entire time together everything clicked into place as they were worshiped by the denizens of Ancient Greece. Apollon frequently made trips to a nearby land, using his powers to fly there, they had another name for him, they called him Ra. Which he didn't mind, but his trips to this land were infrequent as he preferred to remain close to his Huntress. It wasn't long until they conceived a child together, a beautiful boy with skin that seemed luminous. They named him Helion, and their legend continued on for many years as they lived together happily as a family in their temples. Zeus however as their so called was displeased that Artemis was fraternizing with Apollo as he had hoped to have the women all to himself. She being the only one to rebuke him, as most women didn't say no to his advances. So he hatched a plot to split the pair up so that he could have her to himself. Having Hephaestus craft him a special spear he awaited until the night when he knew that Apollons power would be at it's weakest. Sneaking into the sun gods temple he caught the man unaware, and shoved his spear through his chest. Then using his power of lightning electrocuted him in an attempt to kill him. Artemis immediately knew something was wrong along with their son, and rushed to her husbands temple seeing what Zeus was doing she rushed forward, and put her hand through his back. Her strength, and speed making it easy as she lifted him off the ground, and tossed him away from her true love. Apollon was gravely wounded, and he had lost much blood though he was healing very slowly. Their son seeing this rushed over to his father, and used his powers of healing to keep his father intact. Zeus however wasn't done, and launched an attack against the moon goddess, and soon the other gods gathered to see the battle. Artemis using the blood she had spilled from him held Zeus at bay rather easily. Apollon managed to get up, and summoning forth his flaming bow he launched a barrage of fiery arrows at the wayward Zeus. After a tireless battle Zeus was stopped by the pair, and the rest of the pantheon came together to decide a suitable for the god. Hades offered a solution to place him in the deepest cavern, and have his trusty hound Cerberus guard him for all of eternity. They all agreed, and Zeus was imprisoned for the rest of eternity, but his mission hadn't failed for the moment Apollon kissed Artemis she fell into a slumber. The weapon that Zeus had used contained a powerful curse that would only take effect when Apollon kissed her. Robbing him of his true love for the rest of his life. Distraught, Apollon placed her body in a tomb, and raised their son until he was ready to embark on his own journey.
