SOMETIMES ALL YOU CAN DO,
The arrival of the maids prompted the necessity to get the situation organized, or at least sorted to Emmet's best ability. There was still curious about the intense distance that has been created between themselves and Rosalynn; something the older demon found difficult to fathom. He was void of anger, only a mild disappointment and concern settling into the nobleman's stomach from his younger sister escaping the gazes of her maids. After spending years around his over-protective mother, Bernadette made Emmet wary of his younger sister traversing the busy streets alone. There were those constant worries about Rosalynn getting snatched up off the street and perhaps imprisoned for some ransom. Unknowingly, the demon remained blind to the younger demon's capabilities; merely taking the value of her appearance and ineptness in elemental manipulation. Thoughts were never taken to the expansive plain of capabilities that arrives with possession; likely sparked by his own failure in the power.
Quietly, Emmet observed as the maids as they approached as they lowered their heads. The action was symbolic, displaying shame and remorse for the unintentional negligence. A sensible action, especially when there were two members of the family they served on the scene and aware of the occurrence. There was a subtle tension in the situation, the failure to perform their required duties weighing against them in the current instance, however, there was an ounce of fortune. The sympathetic nature of Emmet made the older demon more forgiving towards the unfortunate servants who managed to lose his sister in a crowd, although, it battled against his over-protectiveness. What if he failed to locate Rosalynn? It could have possibly resulted in his younger sister getting injured instead of the mere tarnishing of one of her numerous clothing articles. The fretting continued, Emmet's stress levels heightening as his mind listed off the potential threats towards his sister.
The inquiry towards the occurrences during the maid's absence captured Emmet's attention, leading him away from his thoughts. The explanation Rosalynn provided gave vague insight to the happenings while the maids were busy getting lost amidst the massive throng of people. Immediately afterwards, one of the maids began expressing her guilt, additionally offering her job as compensation for the accident. The display caused the older demon to flinch as it generated emotions of pity towards the pair of maids who worked tirelessly to please his younger sister. There was a sudden shift in Rosalynn that Emmet noticed easily, the older demon listened to his younger sister take the blame for going missing. Shortly, the young girl proceeded to show support, seriousness gracing his sister's voice before the gaze shifted towards him.
The nobleman listened to their explanation, the mentioning of Rosalynn managing to slip by and the difficulties in finding where his younger sister managed to escape. Several self-deprecating remarks were made, revealing pessimistic undertones as the woman completed the explanation. There was a shift in Emmet's attention when his younger sister proceeded to speak, insisting against the blame belonging to the maids. A moment was taken to think, Emmet glancing down at Rosalynn before shifting his gaze towards the maids; usually, people of the Halogan household refused to entrust him with any decisions considering they only viewed the tainted blood that pulsed through his veins. There was a gentle sigh as the older demon scratched the back of his head.
"Just... try not to let it happen again. We don't want Rosa getting lost and possibly abducted after all," there was a momentary pause. "And try not to stray too far from your maids, Rosa. Even if you can manage yourself, it is best to be careful."
The abrupt bestowal of the doughnut box caused Emmet's eyes to widen in surprise as Rosalynn suddenly shifted back to her usual over-zealous behaviour. There was a gleeful assistance to share it with his buddies before Rosalynn passed her maids and began cheering them onward. A soft smile touched the older demon's face as he held the box closer, taking a few moments to watch his sister.
"Speaking of buddies, I better get back over there. Be safe and I will see you when I get home Rosa," the demon said.
Once the farewell was stated, the TRS lieutenant turned back towards the scene, his expression shifting towards a more sombre appearance. He weaved through the remains of the crowd, noticing the preparations of the clean up alongside a few strange looks sparked from the box within his hands; thankfully, a small exchange of words cleared up the situation. There were a few moments to overlook the progression of gathering evidence before the lieutenant took his leave since this, unfortunately, meant the steady addition of paperwork to the staggering stack of reports; it was endless. Furthermore, the individuals he required to exchange words with already evacuated the area, resulting in his presence on scene officially being useless. Thus, the gradual return to the TRS headquarters began with extreme hopes that Rosalynn would not get lost again; Volos forbid something horrible happened to her.
