Katrin Jacobs she was fury, she was wrath, she was vengeance. general info
appearance Standing at 5'8 and weighing approx. 120lbs, many who stand against Katrin in battle underestimate her at first. No one would expect such a slender, graceful frame would be capable of such devastation. Her muscles are hidden under layers of fabric, adding to the ruse that she is no fighter. Her body is ready for any physical demand her daily life required of her. Thinking otherwise can lead you into a regrettable situation. Katrin's body is riddled with the tale of her death. She has several deliberately placed scars all across her body, heavily focused on her torso and arms. These are the markings of the blades used to torture her in front of her brother. On top of these raised marks are an abundance of burn marks all across her body; there isn't a single spot these burns do not reach. If she is feeling so inclined, Katrin will cover her scars up on areas others may be able to see using make-up, clothing, or magic. She is always hiding her face behind an elegant mask to prevent the scared, prying eyes of the innocent. As for clothing style, Katrin prefers the loose fitting clothes of old-timey attire. This includes mainly cottons and polyesters. Her main outfit is a royal blue cloak, gloves, boots, slacks, and a blazer that is outlined with silver and gold. Her scabbard for her sword is made of brown leather, it is also littered with small pouches or various items (her most used is a medicine pouch in which she stores dried herbs). personality
abilities Curses- Activated -- Novice Although curses intrigue Katrin, she is not skilled in this area. She has read of their ability to range from minor inconveniences to tortuously extended deaths. Her beginner level has allowed her to curse items with bad luck and misfortune, but this is the extent of this power for the time being. These curses are not terribly powerful, so those with natural luck or good luck charms will be immune to her curse attempts. Hexes- Activated -- Advanced Katrin hadn't started training in this area Voodoo -- Activated -- Expert Voodoo, as understood by Katrin, is a sympathetic magic. As such, it follows both the Laws of Similarities and the Laws of Contact. With the first Law, like affects like. The most common way she can practice this is by creating a figure that looks like her target; alternatively, with the second law, she can partner voodoo power with her blood manipulation to take a sample of her desired target to twist and do to them as she pleases. She can grossly manipulate bodies, breaking them a part in moments, or manipulate her victim to doing or saying what she pleases. As long as she possesses their DNA, she can make them do whatever she wants. Voodoo has always been more interesting to her than possession, because she likes to watch people do her bidding opposed to actively forcing her way in to do it herself. Although she is expert level at voodoo, the amount of power and control it takes requires her to prepare by ingesting the appropriate herbs beforehand (which she carries with her in a medicine pouch). Possession -- Activated -- Expert This is another power Katrin has taken the time to perfect. When she first returned as a lich, this was the power she used the most. This power is particularly useful when she is trying to enter restricted sites or other situation she may not have full access to. Her limitation is the ability to only possess one creature at a time. With years of practice, she has been able to keep her body present while just her will-power enters a vessel. However, this way leaves her body susceptible to harm and her control over the vessel isn't as strong. Additionally, partial possession leaves her vulnerable of being trapped in the person's mind if they have a stronger will-power than her own. While she has fully possessed someone, she is able to control them as if their body and mind is her own, meaning she also has access to whatever abilities the vessel possesses (this doesn't mean she is good at them, but with some practice she can make up the difference). She is also able to leave freely anytime. In times of trouble, she has been known to possess a body and lie dormant inside; this allows the vessel to keep living as if nothing was wrong, but she is in their mind hiding and waiting either a full possession or to exit. This is useful if she needs to escape or even recover. If she i exorcised during a possession, it takes her an extra amount of time to recover before she may possess again (or even use any of her powers depending on the strength of the exorcist). Blood Manipulation -- Activated -- Intermediate Katrin rarely uses this ability unless she is trying to trap someone or prepare them for voodoo. Darkness Manipulation -- Activated -- Expert Alongside Voodoo, this is Katrin's specialty. She has owned her manipulation to be useful in both offensive and defensive maneuvering. Offensively, Katrin can solidify darkness (or shadows) to weaponize it. This allows her to manipulate shadows into weapons, tentacles, chains, etc. She is also able to bend shadows to her will and will use this to absorb/consume things. Defensively, Katrin can become a shadow to move unharmed. In this form, only light attacks can force her out or risk serious injury. She can also use shadows to teleport herself from one shaded area to another (as long as it's in view). Overuse will drain her body, making her feel weak and parched. It becomes evident when she is overusing since her skin gets more ghastly, akin to a rotting corpse instead of a lich. The bags under her eyes blacken, cheeks become gaunt, knuckles appear bonier, and her lips become dry and cracked. If she continues using this power at that point... she will die. Regenerative Healing-- Passive -- Advanced start backstory TRIGGER WARNING: Murder, sexual assault mention, violence, torture Katrin was born in a human village during the War of Traitors. It was all she seemed to know, violence and destruction. She grew up on stories of how her brother was even kidnapped and held for a very long time (she barely remembers this as she was just a baby, but the story was successful in making her both hardened and afraid). As the girl aged more and more misfortunes struck her village, mainly in the form of bandits and soldiers looking for supplies (and women to bed). Whenever they came around, Katrin's parents were adamant about her remaining hidden. They had built a small cupboard for her to hide in under the stairs. She would crawl in, and the would push a bookcase in front until the coast was clear. The only reason she obeyed was because she knew her parents were deathly afraid of her early demise... or being used for ungodly entertainment. Being a stubborn and action-bent girl, Katrin yearned to learn to defend herself and the people she loved. This would allow her, in her mind, to do as her parents wished while making herself useful. Her brother Fritz was a respected guard, and she approached him on countless occasions with the demand he taught her what he knew with a sword. He obliged her, much to her delight, and Katrin found herself practicing tirelessly to build up her body strength and sharpen her new found skill with a blade. When the raiding reached it's climax, Fritz had taken it upon himself to challenge the leader. With her heart in her throat, but faith in her brother, Katrin attended these brawls time after time, watching as her brother cut down every single villain that threatened the village. He was her hero... but she wanted to be one too. Even if a group of bandits appeared and Katrin begged to fight, he would shake his head and do the fighting. It frustrated her... but she eventually pushed aside her stubborn attitude and admitted he was a much better fighter than she. One particular evening sought the end of the village's survival. Hellbent on revenge, the men who felt wronged by Fritz attacked the village and all its people. Screams, blood, and burning flesh is a memory that flashes before Katrin's eyes even to this day. She remembers how a group of men set her home on fire before kicking in the door, grabbing at her parents to drag them out. Katrin had been fearless at first, pointing her sword at the men.. but they were more seasoned than she and confiscated her blade in mere moments. Being dragged by her hair, Katrin and her parents were taken to the middle of the village where she saw Fritz being held captive. She stared at him, silently begging for him to save them but having a sense of dread inside of her telling her that simply wouldn't be possible. One by one, the three of them were tortured in front of Fritz. First their mother. Then their father. And finally poor Katrin. As the evil men cut her with their swords and daggers, as well as brandish her with heated metal, Katrin cried and felt something she never thought possible: Loathing. She loathed her failure. She loathed her inability to fight for herself, for her family, her village. She loathed these men who came into her town and took everything away. She loathe the way her skin hurt and burned and ached. She loathed the way she screamed, giving these twisted men their final satisfaction. Most of all... she loathed her own demise. She, alongside her brother, watched as the men killed their parents by slitting their throats. It was horrific. She never thought she'd ever seen so much blood come out of one person. Next was her death. Feeding their sadistic nature, the men decided to end her in a different style. They tied Katrin among dried grass and branches before lighting it on fire. As her flesh burned, melted away, Katrin threw her head up to the sky and let out a final wail, tears streaming down her face. The pain was too much and soon overwhelmed her, causing her to pass out and eventually burn to death. The men continued to allow her body to burn, turning their attention back to Fritz. They had taken everything away from him. Their revenge was obtained. Revenge is a fickle thing... Katrin could still hear the crackling of fire when she opened her eyes, could still smell the burning of flesh. But she was not in her village, she was not in pain. She was on her knees in a grassy field surrounded by a milky white fog. This was death. Here pain did not exist, there was nothing at all. How could that be? It felt so... empty. The girl closed her eyes again, bundled her fists up tight until her nails bit into her palms as her face contorted into a look of unabated rage. When her eyes opened, she let out a scream so akin to a banshee, she felt herself quake with the effort. The sound echoed, caused the sickening silence to be ripped to shreds and give her something to hold onto. She was going to kill them. She was going to kill them all. With a sudden flash of white, hot, searing light, Katrin was back in the village right where she was left... but she was not the same. Her human form was no more. She was to live out the rest of her existence as an undead lich. The end of the war felt... unsatisfying. Katrin's restless soul was left without a feeling of contentment. misc - her scent is that of a decaying body as all liches carry on them; the most notable smell is the perpetual scent of burned flesh - she will sometimes rub perfume on herself to hide this stench; she prefers the scent of sage and mint to floral smells - her sword is named Grimhilt after an ancient heroine who was successful in exacting her revenge - her personality type is ISFP-T | roleplayer info ☆ NAME Mal ☆ RP EXPERIENCE 10+ years ☆ TIMEZONE Central ☆ GENDER non-binary ☆ AGE 24 ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS Dominic Bennet Valentine von Maria Styx Bobby Erikson Ra Adonis Justine goodwill ferryl delorme ☆ FACE CLAIM FIRE EMBLEM, Lucina ---------------------- THIS CHARACTER BELONGS TO MAL.
