basil stefansen it’s better to not fall in love at all... general info
appearance Blessed with a gene of height, Basil manages to reach a splendid height of 6’. While this causes him to occasionally be imposing to some from a height perspective, Basil’s past has led to him being considerably thin. His sordid history has brought forth the circumstance of slender limbs and a flattened stomach with limited muscle. He appears slim in composure, failing to have any strength of particular significance. His complexion leans to the paler side from spending many days hiding inside, hiding himself away with a book. His pale flesh is covered in pink-ish lines of scars from years of suffering inside an abusive household. These are often in hidden areas with a few straying out onto his arms. Due to being a zlatrog, Basil can shift into a white-furred deer with golden-beige dapples and glorious golden horns. These golden horns can be spawned in human form. A semi-rounded face with medium height cheekbones, Basil possesses filled cheeks and gentle rising cheeks. They lead down into a slender jawline and gently curved chin. In the eyes of many, Basil’s face exhibits a slight delicateness. From his face reaches a petite nose with a subtle upturning. Short black hair covers his head in minimalistic styling. The fringes of his hair narrowly drift into his eyes. Shining from his pale flesh is a pair of piercing red eyes that shine like rubies when caught in the light. Framing the brilliant red hues is a pair of black glasses with thick rims. Comfortable clothing is an evident preference of Basil’s. He wears thick sweaters, turtlenecks and plenty of long-sleeved clothing. Additionally, Basil does tend to wear a small bracelet that is a comfort charm. This charm assists him with work, but he does not always wear it. He furthermore tends to wear pants that are not overly tight. personality
abilities Deer Shifting -- Beginner The ability to shift into the form of a deer. From his circumstances, his abusive ex refused to allow him to learn his shifting. This is because of his enhanced abilities which would improve upon shifting, therefore, he was forbidden to learn. Attempting would leave Basil exhausted and take 40 seconds because of his lack of training. In this time he will grow exhausted. Light Manipulation -- Intermediate The ability to control and manipulate light, allowing the user to make small lights, shields and weapons. At most, Basil uses an ability similar to a flashlight. He will create small balls of light to move around with and check his surroundings. Offensive and defensive actions are avoided because of his lack of training. In a battle, Basil would be unable to effectively use light manipulation to defend himself. He can make a bright flash to disorient the other, but his capabilities are limited. Over time he will become exhausted and anything offensive related would result in stumbling and failures in combat. Enhanced Speed -- Beginner The ability to enhance one’s speed. Escape would be in his grasp with the use of speed, thus Basil was conditioned to never use the ability. Guilt trip, beaten and punished, Basil is too frightened to ever consider using his enhanced speed. If used, the ability will exhaust him and result in him becoming tired. Additionally, he cannot enter speeds commonly known for those with enhancements. Enhanced Jump -- Beginner The ability to enhance one’s jumping abilities. Another ability that provided Basil with a method of escape, thus once again, he was abused and conditioned into never using it. Therefore, he avoids the ability and using it once more, it will exhaust him quickly and his jumping would be nothing impressive. Naturals: Enhanced Dexterity, Enhanced Senses, Immortality backstory Trigger Warnings: Domestic abuse, mental abuse Artificial. Happiness exhibited in the form of plastic with a stunning realism anybody believed, and around each corner they did. An accomplished masquerade was manifested to forge an identity unique to the one hidden behind the thickest doors. The Stefansens from outer forces were visualized as wealthy individuals with happy and successful lives. The leaders of their future, sewers of Fate’s thread, they were known as powerful people with an immense presence. There was no questioning the sheer power clutched in their fingers and used in the utmost effect. Thus, when they came of the child, the first was greeted with promise and beliefs of a prosperous future. They nurtured him, pedestalled and placed him to the highest location in the mind of his parents. The firstborn, Gaios Stefansen, possessed everything the parents desired from their blood. Every little perfection pushed and supported as Gaios proved to be a magnificent child, one the Stefansen parents could exhibit mass amounts of pride over. Mayhaps their successes with the firstborn prompted the second. The first was a golden child, a youth where their guards could release from the genuine nature of their emotions. Their faith was placed in their blood, the capabilities of the Stefansen family genes. It drove their egos in strive as the mother suddenly possessed a swollen belly with a proud future father-of-two standing at her side. They discussed through the countless months how fantastic their children would be, how the successes of their future would lead them into becoming people of stunning proportions. They craved the notions of success transcending down the line of their family, allowing it to shine like a stunning star amidst the darkness of space. They had everything planned for his arrival, alongside a paved path to success. The details of a life plan for the second child. The first was on his way to the route of success, thus they instinctively believed success would arise with a following of their personal instructions. They had plans, plans for everything... oh, but how Murphy’s Law ruins all. On a November’s eve with the edge of winter’s chill, Basil Stefansen was born into the world. A bundle of joy for a meagre day as genuine smiles shone over him with their radiance. Though only shortly would his parents discover Basil was a needier child than his older brother. He was sensitive, prone to crying and abrupt outbursts out of wishes for attention from those around him. He wanted to be held, cuddled and cared for whenever possible, and his parents worked towards fulfilling those wishes at every turn. They believed their invested time was worth every minute, however, only at the start. Developmentally, Basil was slightly slower than his brother Gaios, his scheduling for catching on and learning certain aspects of age a careful process. Each milestone was a lag behind compared to his older brother, the brilliant Gaios who worked endlessly hard and exhibited the traits his parents desired most. His brother made leaps and bounds while Basil appeared timid and hesitant to walk those milestones as a result. It all started the toxic thinking patterns of the child’s parents, the things they would hide from his older brother. Initially, the arrival of school was greeted with slight excitement that mingled with concerns over entering a new environment. He remembered his parents wrangling him without the hand-holding and a stern face. Softness existed not in his initial introductions to school life, rather, through the drive, he heard his parents insisted on doing well. They desired high marks and capabilities represented in those moments. Their children were designed to be among the best and exhibit traits of strength and intellect. He merely nodded, believing anything above half was considered good enough for the parents he adored. His eyes sparkled in excitement to provide his parents with the pride they craved for him. Therefore, his first days of initial learning were greeted with joy as his teachers went through the basics. Kindergarten projects were among the easy, most being the initial stepping stones for entering the following grades. However, even as Basil brought home the art projects he giggled and grinned at, his parents appeared less impressed. Rather they sighed and granted the child a seemingly annoyed ‘That’s nice.’ From the beginning, Basil only received proper praise from his older brother, Gaios being among the few who supported him. As proper grade school began, Basil believed it would be his time to impress his parents. The coming assignments brought him excitement as he worked towards getting excellent marks. He showed his work, thought out the questions, however, Basil was never designed to enjoy the graces of fantastic marks in all classes. If anything, Basil was considered average with only his scores in English class considered something of greatness. Unfortunately, in the eyes of Basil’s parents, marks in literature hardly mattered as much as maths, sciences and other “productive” works. Thus when he handed them his marked assignments, they snapped at him and criticized his failures from a critical point of view. It instilled upset inside the young child as he shied away from his parents. Eventually, the time to hand in his grades became the most terrifying part of his day as his parents expressed their disappointment and threw their derogatory comments. They wanted perfect children, and Basil was hardly anything to consider perfect in their eyes; he was a stain upon the Stefansen family name. All he had was Gaios’ support, the words he provided being his only chance at fresh air with his constructive criticism and lack of harsh words. The arrival of high school summoned forth a terrifying experience as his parents’ critiques worsened and he entered the dating scene. After years of hearing how horrible he was from his parents, Basil was susceptible to sweet-worded charmers disguising their wolf teeth. He fell into plenty of bad relationships from his naivety. He was yelled at, mistreated and informed he was lucky to have someone. Initially, he could resist the horrific circumstances, managing to break it off and slither out of the toxic relationships. Yet, every single second was spent being told how horrible he was in the realm of academics and school. It inevitably withered him down and well he pushed through, attempting to move away from the toxicity of his relationships. However, in the time he learned about his passion for the subject of literature. He adored books and writing, even poems and the general fundamentals. The young man breathed whenever he spent his time accomplishing literature work for it was among the only classes he excelled in. His parents never touched those critiques, allowing him something he could enjoy. As high school closed, despite his parents’ harshness, Basil decided to enter post-secondary schooling. Post-secondary meant the opportunity to move out and escape the extravagant manner where the harsh criticism suffocated him. For once, he believed he could breathe easily and receive constructive inputs rather than the critical words of his parents. He took a job and began living in student housing with the assistance of scholarships. Though, shortly after his entrance, Basil’s parents expressed their disdain for the chosen topics of study. The man wished to share his love of literature with others, thus the topics of the study revolved around becoming a literature professor. It was everything he wanted in his life. Alas, his parents craved heroics and excellence of a child with intellect. Perhaps they wanted doctors, nurses, dentists or anything in between, however, never would they want a professor in literature. They considered literature among the more useless subjects, the class only being useful for the learning of grammar and spelling. Thus, only moments after everything was arranged would his parents pull out their funding and leave Basil to defend himself. They wanted to invest in Gaios, the child doing everything they wanted rather than meaningless Basil. It left him busy working and studying, leaving little time outside of those. Unfortunately, his social life became the realm of school, thus leaving Basil with a small pool of potential connections… and one of those connections became with Victor Kingsten. An attractive man with a passionate heart and the sweetest words. The first time they met, Basil smiled and the second he felt joy. They went through school together and the charmer, he had his heart thoroughly grasped inside his fingers. He would do anything for Victor, thus when the starting steps came, Basil accepted them. When Victor began guilt tripping him, he fell into the crossfires. He was supposed to give everything, and after a while, Victor made him believe his happiness was more important than his own. He continued school, and upon his graduation, Victor persuaded him to move in. Though, inside that home was where Basil was gaslit, hit, yelled at and broken down. He crumbled in the pain of his situation as Victor made Basil entirely reliant on him. Despite getting his degrees, he was forbidden from working, rather he was left inside the house to be Victor’s little puppet. He spent years there believing they could make it work, believing he could change his lover for the better, only to be proven wrong at every turn. After centuries of suffocating from his exposure to Victor it came crashing down on a day where danger escalated. He remembered the fight he had, how he tried to argue back, another attempt to better his partner... but Victor attacked him. He was threatened as hands reached for his neck to squeeze. How close he was to dying... it prompted him to try and leave. Love was a concept of fright inside his mind as he remembered all the failed relationships. How every person he loved proved cruel and hurtful towards him. Love was a thing of cruelness, each little action merely a method to gain trust before trapping them into the realm of danger. He no longer felt safe enough to help alongside terrified of not being believed. When his lover escaped for work, Basil attempted to make arrangements, he called his parents hoping they would help him... Gaios was busy living his life, parents were supposed to help their children, and he was hopeful they would believe... but they turned it on him. He was a naive young man hoping his cruel parents would return to his life and lend him some aid... he did not want to disturb Gaios who lived alone and needed to support himself. Early he returned with somebody, Basil entirely unaware Victor was informed about his wishes to leave. A hand sharply grabbed his arm as he was screamed at and degraded. The zlatrog was brought to tears as his partner squeezed his arm tight and dragged him down the hall. He screamed for him to please let go, he struggled against his grip, but it only became harsher with every little shuffle. Little was he aware of the incoming curse of ink to grace his life as Basil was held down with tear-filled eyes. He screamed as he squirmed and begged for them to stop whatever they planned... The sounds of a rattling of a small engine and the prin-pricks of pain across his nerves. Across his neck burned as black ink was placed into it and shortly a curse to remind him of his ownership. In the aftermath, he was left crying, locked inside a room with a tattoo that caused him to hear Victor’s voice whenever his fingers brushed by the inked skin... a reminder of ownership, and for a time Basil believed it. The man’s fingers shook as he attempted to avoid stepping on Victor’s toes and quietly listened to his words. He was terrified... and whenever Victor was romantic with him, he tensed, breathed quickly and cried. Alas, his hand would come sharp across his cheeks as Victor told him to “fucking suck it up!” Contacting the outside world became difficult as his lover locked the doors, threatened him and took away any devices that allowed him to contact others. Though when a hurried day arrived and a phone was left behind, Basil prayed his memory right. Desperately, he tapped the code numbers, his mind churning for the number to his older brother. After his naivety, he refused to trust his parents or the police... he wanted someone who would help him. He called in desperation, begging his brother for help between his gasps for air. He told him nothing about their parents, he just wanted out... He craved freedom. His fingers shook alongside his breath as he pleaded with his brother to come get him. Fortunately, his brother was among the better people of the family. He heard his brother’s concerns as he came for him, his promises and for once, Basil began feeling at ease. When his brother arrived, they managed to handle the locked door, pack his items and escape. Alas, the scars suffocating him left horrific memories and they would linger in the halls of his mind for a long time. In the aftermath, Basil inevitably started living with his brother while his life was being sorted. Everything was reported with hesitation, but nonetheless Basil still bore the burden. Completely terrified of love and its notions, Basil required the use of a calming charm, especially after he got his credentials updated and started working as a literature professor. Alas, he stayed with his brother, Gaios while keeping his parents’ attitude towards him hidden... His brother valued them, and he refused to break off those ties. misc Likes: Cherry candies, caramel chocolates, soft blankets, serene places, water noises, cats, nature, big hoodies, turtlenecks, charms, cute pens, bunnies, books, his brother, head pats, little trinkets, kinder egg toys, starry nights, flowery scents Dislikes: Romance novels, crowded rooms, being grabbed, overpowering tastes, blood, gorey movies, dating simulators, hearts, Valentine’s Day, peppermint, cinnamon, red, mint chocolate, tattoos, roses Fears: Falling in love, hand holding, tight embraces, needles, domestic abuse, loud noises, strangers touching him - Basil has a tendency to flinch when a hand is raised to him unless it is someone he trusts.
