yates bannett someones gotta be dangerous, might as well be me. general info
appearance As a man with a short, unimposing stature of 5’6”, few people quake in fear at the TRS Hunter most renowned as “Daredevil”. The sheer build of Yates’ body keeps people from quivering at his unimpressive figure. From a meagre glance, most could conclude Yates’ build is fixated on a requirement for speed as opposed to strength. With a pair of longer legs and equipped with enhanced speed, Yates is best designed for ducking and weaving rather than relying on sheer muscle power. His body further reflects this by maintaining, lean, low-bearing muscles capable of hiding beneath his clothes. People frequently take notice of these muscles when Yates is actively using them, otherwise, they are difficult to pinpoint. From his hands are long, piano player’s fingers that appear slender and graceful in shape. Most prolific of Yates traits are the scars he bears from years of turmoil and more serving the TRS. There are a few smaller holes believed to have derived from his unfortunate former drug addiction. Meanwhile a majority of the others consist of previous cuts from his TRS service. The most faded is a cut on his knee and few that litter his torso that came from his childhood. With his facial structure composed of sharpened features enhanced by a soft sense of slenderness, Yates’ face suits his body. His cheeks are stationed high upon his face, making a pair of attractive cheeks. A well-defined jawline traces the edge of Yates’ face, leading down to a sharply pointed chin. From his countenance comes a petite, albeit, sharp pointed nose with a slight upturn. A pair of thin eyebrows hide amidst his long grey, armpit-length locks. The bangs drift into his eyes on occasion, meanwhile, the remainder is frequently pulled back into a tight ponytail. His hair is regarded as soft to the touch, making it clear it received care. Most striking of Yates’ features are the magnificent ocean-blue eyes he was gifted. In the light, they sparkle like sunlight touching the ocean waves. The clothing Yates wears consists of loose-fitting t-shirts and dark coloured jeans. He hardly cares about what others think about him. Therefore, his lazy outfit choices are naturally without another thought. If no one really cares about him, why should he give a shit? The other clothing he tends to wear is his TRS uniform, which he keeps in pristine condition. He cares most about his position in the TRS. Under most circumstances, Yates wears a choker around his neck because he favours. Frequently, his hair is bound by a ponytail to keep his long hair out of his face. personality
abilities Fire Manipulation -- Mastered The ability to manipulate flames, allowing the user to burn, light fires or move flames without issue. If needed, the user can raise the temperature. As a quick, flame user, Yates uses this ability frequently to fight off terrors and Assembly members. Being a powerful fire manipulator, Yates is capable of mass-form manipulation. Even creating fire storms and tornadoes around him to attack those around him. This is also a defensive tactic when he needs a moment to allow his body to heal; fire makes the healing faster after all. Other fighting forms Yates uses is covering his fists in flames and lashing out with his fists. Without fire, Yates can heat up his fists, potentially burning them because of the sheer temperature they can reach. At times, Yates will throw flames at people, occasionally placing it at the enemy’s feet before making them blossom. His fire manipulation, similar to him, is quick and fast acting because of his fighting style. He can even create his own flames. On a weakening note, Yates energy gets devoured with his wild style flame manipulation. Larger scale manipulation consumes more energy than smaller manipulation. His fire manipulation oftentimes affects his hunger, Yates being known for devouring food by the buckets after rigorous fights. Water is the bane of Yates’ fire manipulation with it eating away his flames. Furthermore, heating up his flames to evaporate a portion of the on-coming liquid consumes a large portion of his energy. Enhanced Speed -- Mastered The user is capable of moving at speeds beyond that of an average individual. The capability in his enhanced speed is noticeable with Yates’ strong natural dexterity and dependency on the ability for his fighting style. Most notably, Yates uses this for running, gaining momentum to slide beneath attacks, rush another person or dodge. Because of his enhanced speed, he can dance around attacks, although Yates is known for not weighing the risks. In Yates’ case, his enhanced speed goes beyond meagre running. After intense training, Yates can enhance the movements of his hands, his fist impacting others at intense speeds. He uses his enhanced speed to overwhelm his opponents or cause some additional damage through some extra momentum. Oftentimes, this ability can be connected with his fire manipulation, most specifically when he laces his fists with flames. However, should the flames be too small and tender, they may get snuffed out because of the rushing air from the displacement. Similarly, using his enhanced speed consumes Yates’ energy, only making his appetite larger with the addition of his fire manipulation. The primary weakness of Yates’ enhanced speed is overuse of the ability. Using the ability rigorously can cause soreness and stiffness in his body, leaving him slower rather than faster. At times, this can reach degrees of leaving Yates bedridden and requiring proper rest to allow his muscles to recover. Natural: Healing Factor, Enhanced Senses, Fire Immunity, Immortality backstory Trigger Warning: Mentioning of drug use, violence, addiction, domestic abuse, emotional abuse, physical abuse, neglect Worthless from the start, tossed aside in a crib and fortunate to crawl through infancy, it was easily stated Yates Bannett fell victim to a rough childhood. His parents were imprisoned in a loveless, toxic relationship and danced with liquor on their tongues and hatred in their souls. Bickering reverberated through the walls, words laced with anger and screams shaking young Yates from slumber. The conditions of the Bannett homelife was equivalent to a nightmare. A pair of volatile parents and a vulnerable, impressionable child was a recipe for a brewing storm. Everything about the Bannett home created an environment ill-suited for a child. Bottles of booze littered the living room table, smoke trays with loose Mary Jane and squalid conditions surrounded the so-called “family home”. It was a miracle Yates survived in the perilous home riddled with filthy conditions and volatile parents. The pair narrowly managed to raise the child. Death warded by parents who miraculously kept their child away from the fatal concoctions and physical abuse. Nonetheless, Yates lived his infancy stationed in a crib or playpen with limited interaction with his parents. Rather, they fed him, sat him aside and pretended he never existed. Inside the Bannett household, conditions never improved unless they believed somebody cried CFS. Imprisoned inside a home who cared naught for his well-being, Yates was destined to become a troubled child. It began in minimal ways, mere temper tantrums and an uncontrollable anger as a child. The punish ranged from screaming and the occasional smack, however, Yates’ irritation towards his parents only increased through his infancy. Emotional venting was never a taught subject for Yates, hence, he accomplished whatever he needed to release his frustrations and anger. As school approached and Yates was handed off to teachers as their problem, things hardly improved. From his shaky home life, the young boy was never taught simple concepts and methods for constructive conversation. Rather, if someone pushed him either by accident or intention, he shoved back. If someone took his crayon, he lashed out and punched. When he was upset he screamed and threw tantrums as naturally as a breathing. Many occasions resulted in Yates being placed on time out, barred from recess or having his parents called. Throughout his early school years, Yates was regarded as a problem child. A child who stirred the pot and caused issues wherever he went without a thought to why entering their minds… Never did anyone think the problem child was instead a child with problems that hindered him. As Yates grew in age, his temper maintained its untameable wrath. Taming the young child was an impossibility as he exhibited traits of excessive anger accompanied by violence. Constantly, his parents claimed to be attempting to remedy their son’s anger while claiming their poor financial standing made it impossible for them to hire a therapist. They were lying snakes. They spent any money they could on drugs for them to get high or alcohol to drink until vomit erupted from their mouths. Their home wreaked of pot, alcohol and other deadly concoctions, but with nothing problematic being discovered, people stopped calling and Yates was stuck. Freedom was a notion never gracing the torture of his cruel home life. With a seeming hopelessness in his situation, Yates never approved. He narrowly passed his classes and as he entered adolescence, things only worsened. His adolescence began with underaged drinking, rowdy partying and endless troublemaking. Graffiti, school fights and even smoking cigarettes or sneaking a sip of booze on school grounds were among their many “crimes”. Several instances of Yates being ushered down to the principal’s office became a common existence. The young man received plenty of harsh words and as things soured, Yates' parents turned malicious. He received smacks on the head and got involved in endless arguments. They despised him and he despised them, endless anger flowing through his veins. The situation between his parents and Yates was heated, and oftentimes he stomped off and turned his music up loud to hide away in his room. Trouble was brewing in the form of thick dark clouds bringing torrential rain and long, dirty blond hair. They called her Rose, but there was not an ounce of love in her corrupted heart. Ruby red lips and filled with attitude, yet, held the charisma to talk a chicken into cooking itself. Courtship arrived when Yates was 16. A majority of his friends discover the thrill of having flings or something long term. Attractive to manipulate, a plump fruit with druggies for parents and a disparaged home life. She came knocking, using her sweet words to infatuate him and wrap him around her delicate fingers. Desires for escape coloured Yates mind and she offered them in the form of a ravishing distraction. Yet, her tainted methods infected the flames of his life. He remembered how it started, a little peer pressure and promises of escape in the form of tiny pills. It will take the edge off! C’mon, give it a try! A devil’s concoction giving off a high capable of blocking out the issues in an unhealthy manner. Mom and dad are fighting? Pop a pain pill and dive into a world where he no longer felt those emotions. It was glamorized, every ugly second of it until Yates became addicted... As he got hooked, he began stealing what his parents used, occasionally enjoying a long smoke of the devil’s grass or something worse. Addicted on escapism and assisted through the unhealthy means of drugs. Another victim of the crisis, suffering under the struggles of addiction. Unable to cease, no longer caring how it affected his grades and social life, all that mattered was those few blissful moments of high. Sociability was sacrificed, education was sacrificed and money was sacrificed to bask in the “false angel” known as drug abuse. As his addiction grew, his tolerance followed. He required more to receive the effects and began experiencing withdrawal should he go without. Meanwhile, his girlfriend Rose was an enabler, bringing home the pills he was addicted to. Volatility entered the relationship as Rose began showing her true colours upon their narrow graduation and prompt move. She persisted in making Yates feeling worthless, hitting him around and informing him he meant nothing. A man with some definition of values against raising a hand to others was deteriorated, broken down from his weakened, drug induced state... Yet... Yates felt nobody else cared about him other than the volatile and malicious woman who stood alongside him. Years of regrets began piling as Yates struggled further with his intense addiction. The negative coping mechanism only increased with his lover’s abuse and blatant gaslighting. Unfortunately, he sold himself on the beliefs of his girlfriend being the only individual to care about his well-being even remotely. He believed it, but in a single evening she proved naught in care. A party began, fueled by drugs and alcohol and crazed desires of fun. Music blared over loudspeakers as they danced through the night without a second thought. It was a common ailment among their group of close friends. Hours into the evening it started when his girlfriend became irritable, growing volatile to everyone in the room. He attempted to smooth it all over, alas, the first punch was thrown and chaos broke out. He remembered the pain, the image of Rose hovering over him, pulling back her fists to wail on him... he remembered people pulling him off and the vague sensation of something warm seeping over his face... distress as she began fighting more... then inevitable darkness. He hung there for hours, unaware paramedics were called and people were ushered to receive medical attention. Twenty-one and startled, Yates woke in the hospital, doctors hovering over him and a police officer to his right. Frightened, Yates stiffening, knowing his shady history of drugs would inevitably land him in jail... and he cried... The tears leaked from his eyes as he became distraught as he gasped air and sniffled. They attempted to comfort him, but the words escaped his mouth. He expressed desires to escape, he apologized for being a user and finally those relationships were released. Through his tears they spoke about the assault, the officer searching for those answers rather than information related to his addiction. As the interview concluded they inquired about Yates desiring to press charges and he shook his head ‘no’. Then it returned to the tearful topic... They spoke for hours, the officer informing Yates about the hindrances of drug addiction and the elemental admitted he was clueless on how to escape... Never did he expect benevolence. With his lover being sent to jail and Yates without an income along with being a thorough addict, he was bound to become homeless. Yet this officer decided to change his path and give him a chance. Through his assistance and belief the young man could change, they discovered a sponsorship program where should he get cleaned up, he would be admissible into TRS training. Hastily, he had agreed, his craving for escape finally outweighing the addictive substance in his bones. Thus, through the shaking of withdrawal, he kept pushing under the promises of change. He spoke to therapists, he began weaning himself off the addiction that haunted him, until finally after several months, he was a clean man. Shortly afterwards, he joined the TRS after kicking off one of his negative habits. Although, one of the negatives that stuck with him was Rose... Through her sentence she called and he listened, taking her emotional and mental abuse through his training. Over the course of a few months, Yates became a hunter and earned the name Daredevil because of his reckless fighting style. Constantly, he received injuries, heading to the emergency room from his follies. The only person who cared was abusive and he hardly satisfied her, therefore, why should he care beyond earning the needed money for food and their home? After years of service, Yates became of elite status because of his fighting capabilities and proceeds to remain in unit 2 as a recovered addict. misc Mentor: Paradox (former) Apprentices: N/a - Likes: Spicy food, meat, rock music, chokers, drinking, smoking, TRS, fighting, ramen, quick foods, hot chocolate, chocolate milk, video games, sports, competition, hiking, sleeping in, laying in bed, fast food, exercise, TRS - Dislikes: Pain medication, mint chocolate, bland foods, grape juice, small rooms, waking up early, loud noises, midnight interruptions, cooking, terrors, obnoxiously sized jewelry, winter, cold weather, swimming - Fears: Being worthless, having nobody, lonesomeness, getting addicted again - In the TRS, he is known as Daredevil for his dangerous style of fighting and blatant disregard for his own physical health.
