myson hammerstein tell me reality is better than a dream. general info
appearance As a Hammerstein, Myson has inherited several traits from his strong bloodline, his appearance evidently similar to his father. Therefore, Myson stands at a taller height of 6’1”, making him taller than most men. The size of his height allows Myson to appear porportionate because of muscular disposition. Having a past related to soldiery, Myson is a larger man, his body trained for combat. Thus, several muscles cover Myson’s body, making him appear bigger to most individuals. He has muscular arms and legs, allowing him to hit people hard, which has been maintained because of Myson’s job as a TRS hunter. Myson has abs covering his core, further showing his strong body type. Due to years spent fighting, Myson has developed calloused hands, making them rough to the touch. Similarly, Myson is covered in several scars from his time serving Hell’s army and the Terror Response Syndicate. The most prominent is one which stretches across his right side. There is another long stretch across his chest. These scars appear paler than his fair complexion. Several tiny scars are on his hands, these are training scars. Prominent facial features are Myson’s high cheekbones and a strong chin which make his face appeared more chiselled. These features give Myson an attractive face which suits his muscular body. His nose’s shape is average, sloping down before reaching the tip where there is a subtle upturn to the shape. Light cyan hair covers Myson’s head, the sides and lower back cut short to a stubble shortness. The top is longer, about average length for a regular male, which is side-swept to the right. The longest tip from his the center of his head reaches just below his eyes. He frequently maintains this hairstyle, thus people rarely see his hair styled in another manner. Similar to his hair-style, albeit, paler in colour. Under most circumstances, Myson’s facial expression display confidence and happiness. He rarely displays sorrowful or angry expressions, mostly because he prefers being a happier person among other reasons. Clothes are something Myson changes up frequently depending on his mood and sometimes his husband’s desires. When off duty, he often wears casual clothing, simple things without much restrictions. Shirts and pants are interchanged, Myson only concerned about assuring his clothes are not tight or inappropriate. While he has some preferences, it can be difficult to notice because of how often Myson changes up things. Under most circumstances, he is attempting to please his precious husband, Patolli. At all times, Myson wears his wedding band as a symbol of being taken. He does not wear any other jewelry, finding it sways too much and becomes bothersome. During work hours, Myson wears a TRS uniform with a slight alteration to his uniform. Beneath the words “TRS HUNTING DIVISION” in smaller texts that says “MYSON’S MERCENARIES” which is a minor alteration done since he works in a group of hunters. Everything else matches the regular TRS hunter uniforms, the colour being red because of his elite position. Inside the Hammerstein family, there is a weakness a majority of people learn very quickly. A rage hides inside this family, a sudden release of magical energy which results in the manifestation of oni-like traits. A pair of dark-red horns will appear from his forehead, his teeth growing sharper as anger takes over. These horns are long, curving out and reaching a slightly lighter tinted horn. The sharpened teeth mostly affects his molars, making them extremely long and sharp; they can inflict damage in this state. There is a subtle tinge of red in his complexion, however, never takes the full colouring. personality
abilities Fire Manipulation -- Mastered The ability to control fire in the form of fullborn flames or meagre ambers. Through the manipulation of flames, the user can increase the temperature of certain areas by making their flames stronger. In the soldier's branch of the Hammersteins, fire manipulation is considered among their most useful tools in combat. The capability to create flames and manipulate them is considered an honour among the soldiers in the family. Thus, from a young age, Myson was taught the magnificent art of fire manipulation. His years of training has allowed him to effectively conjure flames in the palm of his hand, creating them out of nothing. If Myson has the energy, he can manage large-scale fire manipulation. Something Myson is renown for is covering his weapons in flames in hopes of doing more damage. This being said, everything with flame manipulation revolves around energy with Myson. Creating flames consumes more energy than manipulating and strengthening from an existing force. The more Myson is required to create, the more energy will be diminished. Similarly, large-scale manipulation consumes energy very quickly because of the amount Myson is required to manipulate. This can be similarly stated for complex manipulating styles which can similarly drain water. The biggest predator of his flames is water, therefore, water manipulators can easily disarm him of the thing that makes him strong. Enhanced Strength -- Advanced The ability to enhance one’s strength, allowing the individual to accomplish great things with a powerful strength. The oni’s powerful strength allows Myson to overpower others because of this ability. In the Hammerstein Family, strength was among their most powerful traits. The capabilities of Myson’s strength allows him to hit hard and carry heavy items. These strong hits allows him to overpower most people in a battle of strengths. Those with mastered strength can outpower Myson, but will likely find it difficult because of how strong he is. However, the more strength he uses, the more energy he will use. Should he be reckless, Myson can hurt his muscles by overdoing his strength, making them become stiff and sore. Fear Inducement -- Intermediate The ability to induce fear into the hearts of others. Myson is not overly capable with his fear inducement, however, he can use it as a stun. It works briefly, creating a burst of fear which surprises his opponents. His fear inducements can only work for a few moments, making it not super effective. Hexes -- Beginner The ability to draw a circle with blood or chalk to use a hex. In the Hammerstein family, the men are not as thoroughly taught about hexes because of their expectations to enter battle. They are taught heavier in fire manipulation and enhanced strength, leaving their hexes extremely weak. While some teach themselves healing hexes, Myson has failed to do so since he enjoys being healed by his husband, Patolli. Naturals: Enhanced Durability, Fire Immunity, Immortality weaknesses Rage Mode: Unique to most oni and other species, Myson essentially has a “rage mode”. While this strengthens his abilities slightly, there is a significant downside to how Myson’s rage mode operates. Rage mode is a massive influx of magically energy running through Myson’s veins, making oni horns spawn on his head. This influx results in massive amounts of Myson’s energy being used. When this energy runs out, Myson will immediately faint and similar will be done the instant his rage mode disappears. This mode only activates when Myson is extremely angry, thus he has no control over its activation. Holy Water: When splashed with holy water, the liquid can burn Myson’s skin. These burns are severe and cannot be healed with healing hexes. If exposed to holy water long-term, Myson could potentially die because of it. Water: Fire manipulation is something well-known for owners, their affinity for fire being a major part of their life. Thus, one of Myson’s weaknesses is water itself. Water can cause Myson to feel faint or even extinguish the flames he makes. Blessings: The power of blessings fails to assist Myson under all circumstances. If a blessing is used on Myson, it can cause him to become sick. This sickness diminishes his powers and results in him being unable to use his ability. backstory An appraised military family, those were the words frequently acquired when describing the Hammerstein family. Expectations stationed themselves hefty upon the shoulders of prestigious family members. As soldiers in Hell’s army, they were servants of Volos, their grand god who presided over Hell’s cave-like lands. Defending their beloved god was something laid hefty upon their shoulders, a prestigious family of oni, powerful in strength and abilities with fighting skills to transform them into a worthy adversaries. The head of the Hammerstein Family, Marshall Hammerstein, was a colonel of Hell’s army, prepared to fight at any moment. He had married a noblewoman named Felicity, a sweet, kind one with a knack for healing. Some believed it was destiny, Marshall’s prestige allowing him to marry easy. Together, they planned for a large family. The love shared between them was a powerful force, something people expected when seeing the pair together. Their first child was a boy named Myson and the heir to the Hammerstein name. From the beginning, Myson became a leader, albeit, a bossier one because of his many younger siblings. Living in an enormous family with 9 siblings was not easy, however, he nonetheless enjoyed it. Their perfect little world featured a marvellous life provided by their noble mother and military father. As the eldest, Myson was given endless responsibilities and training related to becoming a soldier. His father wanted the eldest son to follow in his footsteps and Myson hung to his stories of heroics. Throughout his childhood, Myson would play games with wooden training swords or practice with his father. As he grew older, Marshall trained him in weapons-based combat and hand-to-hand. His eldest child, a shining example of a soldier just as he dreamed. Praise showered Myson, his father proud of his developments in training. Everyone noticed Myson was close with his dad, spending a lot of his free time training beside him or helping with the lessons of his siblings. Their splendorous life manifested happiness for the Hammersteins, however, everything would be interrupted by the arrival of Heaven’s gates closing. The young Myson was training with his favoured weapon, a large axe, when his father abruptly arrived home from a trip to Heaven. Excited, the young man scurried after Marshall to inquire about his trip, however, he found his father vexed. Quietly, the eldest son followed as his father sought his mother. The words which escaped his father’s mouth surprised him. Heaven closed their gates to all Hell species. They’re claiming we caused mischief in their realm. The surprised squeak left Felicity’s lips as she closed the distance between herself and Marshall, asking if he was serious. A grim nod was given as response, his father speaking again. They have decided we’re not worth their trouble... it’s all prejudice. Around the corner arrived the War of Traitors, the prejudice having been reported to Volos himself. Training was increased for days by Myson’s father as he explained he wanted his son to join them. In the course of a week, Myson was accepted into Volos’ army and placed under the command of his father. He was young at the time, fresh into combat with loads of training to assist with defeating the enemy. The eldest Hammerstein was involved in several battles, surviving with limited injuries. The adrenaline high from fighting was always welcomed, Myson finding his soldier life to be what he searched for. He won the fights he was involved in or managed to escape with limited injuries. Under the command of his father, Myson naively believed nothing could possibly go wrong. Marshall Hammerstein was a great colonel, intelligent and tactical as he relayed the demands of Volos. Throughout his time in the army, he managed to make friends, it was blissful... A particular battle was proving to be rather difficult as Heaven species fought hard against Hell forces. Everybody was struggling to defeat their opponents, injuries being taken on both sides. The battle was brutal, merciless and hate-filled as each side worked to defeat the other. As Myson fought to defeat enemy forces, he was singled out and separated from his comrades by a group of five Heaven species. Without a choice, Myson was forced to keep moving back, trying to avoid attacks while trying to get around to return to his allies. The Heaven species would not allow it... They knew his name and they hoped to torment his father mentally with the death of his eldest son. They brandished cursed weapons, the blades painfully slicing through Myson’s skin. He approached a cliff edge, a large waterfall roaring beside them as he was backed against a corner. Fire was conjured, a futile defense as the enemy threw holy water, a burning sensation blazing across his chest. The young man screamed, backpedalling, balance fading as he fell over the cliff... Darkness. The inevitability of death held a cold grip... but... warmth shook those cold hands wrapping around his body. Eyes bleary, Myson blinked several times, head hurting from the unexpected dip into harsh river waters. He was badly injured, cuts and bruises mingling with gashes and scrapes. A groan of pain escaped his lips, the soldier’s eyes attempting to discern his location. He was inside of a barn, straw being a makeshift bed. Memories surfaced abruptly, Myson sitting up quickly, but pain erupted in his torso. His hands touched his stomach, feeling a bandage beneath his tattered war uniform. Somebody rescued him from the brink of death and brought him here, it was obvious. Only moments later would Myson meet the man who saved his life after the suffering he underwent. Patolli, the man who hardly knew him, but nonetheless decided his life was worth saving. There were dangers in helping strangers, yet, the benevolent man willingly housed him and addressed his injuries, even inviting him into the house. Uncertainty existed between them over the first days of Myson’s stays on his property. Despite this, Patolli continued to tend to his wounds, ensuring they were healing properly. Across the shoulders of his saviour fell long, green locks of rich hair. A portion of his beautiful hair was tied back into a tight bun, revealing his magnificent facial features. Strong chin on a slender jawline, high-placed cheek bones and brilliant blue-grey eyes. Patolli was an attractive man. When moved to the house, Myson remembered a healing session where Patolli was examining the wounds on his abdomen. He reached out, softly touching his green hair, lips automatically forming words. Your hair is pretty and soft. After realizing his “error”, Myson had released the tiefling’s hair and murmured an apology. His saviour had an average body, albeit, with some muscle tone often hidden beneath his skin. The patient caught it in stray glances, whenever the man’s shirt lifted slightly and hugs he abruptly shared. Something had overtook him, but he failed to comprehend what exactly. The words arrived as the healing process was being completed, months of recovery needing to pass before Myson was fully healed. The oni knew his true feelings towards Patolli, however, he refused to hurt him. If he returned those emotions and their bond deepened, he could perish and devastated him. I promise I will return after the war. I have something I need to tell you when I return, okay? There was a sad smile across the soldier’s face as he explained he would come here when the War of Traitors closed. With those words, Myson departed from Patolli’s home, tracking down and soon rejoining the army. He remembered the overjoyed expression of his father when he entered the army’s camp on earth. The tears which breached his father’s countenance as he reached, tugging Myson into a tight embrace. For months, he thought his son had perished in the war effort, however, he narrowly survived. Upon returning, Myson told his father the story of his survival, leaving out his feelings towards Patolli under the belief Marshall would disapprove of a male partner. His father was determined to honour Patolli’s contribution, but agreed to wait until the war concluded. News was shared between them, his father explaining that their family was moved to earth, hiding under an alias in a predominantly hell species earth town for their safety. It was considered a base for hell species and was heavily guarded. His siblings and mother worked as healers or guards depending on their decision, allowing them to effectively assist with the war effort. They sanctioned distressed hell species, ensuring they still possessed a home until they could be moved to hell. The war raged on, Myson fighting harder because of his desire to return to Patolli when the war concluded. Eventually, the time arrived when the gates of Heaven and Hell were closed and high-standing Generals with determination to continue the war assassinated. In secret, Myson watched over his father, defending him from anybody with ill-intent. The war effort was abandoned for the safety of their family, and with the War of Traitors officially over, Myson led his family down the familiar roads to a little farm he knew well. He reunited with Patolli, allowing him to meet the family who was thankful for the tiefling’s heroism. The skilled healer was given honours bestowed upon him from the former colonel, Marshall Hammerstein. After spending some time there, his father stated they needed to return home, however, Myson had a different path. He told his family he wanted to learn about Patolli’s farm, making an excuse to stay. He watched his family leave, hugs being shared between them as they prepared to depart. When alone, Myson returned to Patolli’s house, grabbed the man’s elegant, slender hands and confessed his feelings of love. From there, they spent more time together, their bond growing rapidly until Myson married Patolli in secret. Farm life became boring for the soldier, thus he started a mercenary group named Myson’s Mercenaries which worked out of the town. They disposed of bandits, working more as an offensive guard for the townsfolk. The illusion of merely friendship existed to the outside world, Myson and Patolli kept their secret, romantic relationship. He believed his prestigious family name and ties to the War of Traitors could result in Patolli being injured, thus it remained a secret. They loved one another, therefore, when Zeredah’s forces rose, they joined the war effort. The farm was sold, the pair settling in Lorsette approximately thirty years ago to help with the efforts there. Myson’s Mercenaries became an elite group of hunters who worked under the Terror Response Syndicate. Throughout the fighting, Myson tries his hardest to be healed by Patolli opposed to anybody else.
