Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Haku enjoyed his drink, noticing that people seemed to be going back to their own business. It was a shame really, he liked having all eyes on him. It meant people were fearful and that was his purpose in life. He had answered Kari's question, only to be asked more. He couldn't help but smirk, lifting his glass to his lips once more to gulp it down. "No." He answered, having paused his drinking to answer Kari before resuming. "Oh?" He answered, setting the glass down against the counter, waiting for the bartender to notice that he wanted another. He then chuckled when Kari made his comment. "Am I now?" He asked in return, taking his new glass in his hand before lifting it up to drink it. "What's the matter, scared of a dragon?" He teased playfully before drinking from his glass.
"It would make sense though, we are talking about me here." He added, still teasing before setting his drink down. "God this is so great, exactly what I was looking for." He was pleased that he had ran into Kari, finding him very entertaining. "Such a shame though, it means I'll have to find somebody else to entertain me." He added, lifting his drink once more to his lips. Well unless I find him on accident and chose to make my own entertainment, but he doesn't need to know that. He thought to himself, a smug grin forming on his lips as he savored his drink.
For a moment just a brief moment, Kari found himself actually warming up to the pink haired male. Wether it was from the alchohol or the fact he had been let off the hook he wasn't sure. He had heard rumors about him, perhaps received a few calls from the man. But other than that he knew relatively nothing about the male. Though his sudden appearance earlier had startled him, he wasn't quite as spooked by the supposed 'dragon king' anymore. Hearing Haku reply once more he let out a small sigh of relief. Having heard that his concerns were largely unfounded. So instead he turned his attention back toward trying to enjoy himself for the time being. The next shot being placed in front of him. A playful grin crossing his lips and a twinkle in his eyes as he noticed it. And not a moment later he swiped it off the counter.
Yet before he could manage to drink it Haku picked up his own new glass as well. Chiming in with a rather playful reply to Karis attempted refusal. "Scared of dragons? Dont you know I'm fireproof?" He said with a soft chuckle. The buzz in his head keeping him oblivious to the man's coy flirtation, at least for the time being. As the continuous shots were begining to numb more than just his senses but his thoughts too. Yet that didn't keep him from taking the one he was holding, and tossing it down his throat with a quick flick of the wrist. All the while Haku continued to chat. The man's words mostly going through one ear and out the other. Yet part of his chatter had seemed to stick a little. "Yeah that's right, go find someone else to take on a da- wait… Is this dude interested in me?!" His brow shot up suddenly as the thought crossed his mind. The dark haired male stealing a sideways glance at Haku. "No,nonono! Bad idea. Not like I need to give the assembly more dirt to hold over my head…"
Spinning back toward the bar he let out a quiet sigh. Tapping on the counter a few times for another shot. Yet as the bartender came to place it down in front of him Kari held up one hand silently, as if asking him to stop. Nervously the man obliged, a slight fear in his eyes as he looked down toward the young man in his bar. "I'm sorry about throwing you out we di-" Yet before the man could continue any further Kari stopped him once more, this time by placing a finger against his own lips. "Listen…" Kari said slightly hushed. "I don't really give a damn about that. But this." He said motioning toward Haku."This stays quiet. I can't have everyone in town staring at me afraid all the time..." He said with a grunt. Before finally snatching up his shot and releasing the man back to his work.
Spinning back around, shot now in hand he turned his attention back toward the dragon king whom had barged into his night.
Haku chuckled when he heard Kari deny being scared of dragons, using the excuse of being fireproof. Oh the truth behind that comment, however there was more trouble with a dragon besides their element but it seemed safe to assume Kari's answer was purely based on knowing exactly what his element was. It wasn't like he made an effort of hiding it, finding enjoyment in attacking his enemies with his fire. The conversation was about dates, he couldn't help but smirk when it seemed the conversation would be lost. Oh how he enjoyed his time with Kari, too bad he wasn't interested back, this could have been one hell of a party. He didn't miss the part where Kari was looking right at him, meanwhile he innocently drank from his glass, paying no mind. Kari started tapping on the counter, he finished his drink but thought to be patient, seeing as it didn't happen very often if at all.
He looked away, curious on what would happen next, choosing this time to appear not paying attention. The bartender was whispering before suddenly going silent. He could only assume that it had been by Kari's doing. Words were being spoken, it was difficult to make out some of the words, but he could only guess what Kari was saying to the bartender, thankfully he hadn't noticed that he was really paying attention to them and this acting was only for show. As soon as the shot was lifted, he looked towards them. Just as Kari was turning to face him. "I want another one." He answered, shoving the glass towards the bartender. "And what ever you two were talking about, fearing me for survival is just how dragons work." He spoke to the bartender, making it quite clear that what ever Kari had said to him, it could be disrespected.
"What was that about not fearing dragons?" He looked back towards Kari, a new drink in his hand before lifting it to sip from the glass. He'd then proceed to place the glass on the counter once it was finished, removing his wallet to pay for all of the drinks. "I'll see you again, my pet." He teased, seeing it only fitting since Kari had said something to the bartender and it seemed to him that it must have been about him, else Kari wouldn't have whispered it. People would stare as he moved around the bar, before opening the front doors, knowing fully well that if people wanted too, Kari would be a possible risk of being kicked out again because he wasn't there to scare the shit out of them.
Strolling back up to haku, shot in hand. Kari actually felt quite nice. He had managed to smoothed things over with the bartender. Meaning he could likely return whenever he wanted. Had managed to get quite the buzz going by this point. And to top it all off he didn't have to pay for a thing. Even though the grin on his face had been a facade before it was no longer. The Raven haired male actually quite pleased at the way things were turning out. And Haku. Perhaps he wasn't as bad as everyone said.
As he turned toward the dragon king he was surprised to hear him order yet another drink. "Another one eh? Maybe you are fun." He said with a chuckle, and he raised his shot to his lips. Yet as the liquid began it's way down his throat Haku continued talking. Addressing the conversation he had just had with the bartender. His body tensed up for just a moment, long enough for him to lose his composure. Almost instantly he was thrown into a coughing fit as the alchohol made its way down the wrong pipe. His eyes watering slightly as he was forced to listen to the man's words. He raised up his arm, coughing into his sleeve for a moment as he tried to put himself back together. Meanwhile Haku casually finished his drink, and paid the once again fearful bartender.
As the dragon king began to make his exit Kari felt stunned. Knowing he should just leave it be and return to his post. After all he was already in enough trouble with the guy, why push his luck. Yet the alchohol was telling him to go talk it out. He shot a glance toward the bartender, whom now looked furious. Getting the message he tossed his shot back down onto the counter and scurried toward the door. As he stumbled out the front entrance he glanced around. Noticing Haku had only managed to make it a slight distance from the bar. "Hula!" He called out, his list of names for the man getting dizzying by this point.
Rushing up to him Kari let out a soft sigh, acting slightly coy. "Buddyyyy."! He said before doing something rather stupid. As he gave the man's shoulder a few soft pats before resting it there. "Listen that was nothing.. just.. telling him off for throwing me out." He said with a smile.
Haku couldn't help but chuckle when he heard Kari's comment. He had come here to drink after all, so he saw no harm in having as many as he wanted and the same could be said for Kari as well since he wasn't struggling with money. He had only been teasing Kari, watching him choking on his drink was amusing. Maybe it was the fact that he enjoyed being around Kari but for what ever his reason, he chose to keep it to himself. He had left the bar, within a few minutes he heard the sound of the door opening before Kari had caught up to him. Kari wasn't calling him by name, he didn't mind because it meant having some more attention from him. "Are you worried?" He asked, smug grin on his face before leaning closer to Kari. "I'm not concerned with the conversation you had with him. Though it is amusing to see that you rushed out here as soon as I left. I'm assuming with me outside, they felt less welcoming, right?" He asked, still teasing him before adding. "So about future dates." He added, still teasing before adding, "Or were you going to remain my pet?" He asked, amused by how uncomfortable he was making Kari.
The night air bit at his face as Kari barged out of the bar and into the dark. All on the premise that he could dig himself out of the hole he had gotten into. Had he been sober he perhaps would have let things go then and there in the bar. Hell he probably wouldn't have even stuck around for Haku to provoke him. But he wasn't thinking straight. Or perhaps was feeling too confident in his ability to talk his way out of most things. Whatever the case he quickly tracked down the man with quick haste. Not considering the fact that getting him alone was perhaps Haku's plan all along.
So he mustered up some confidence, put on a smile, and did his best to act friendly once more. Cheerfully putting his hand on Haku's shoulder as he tried to explain himself. But as the pink haired male replied Haku's words oozed with a sort of coyness. Giving Kari a brief pause. "Worried? Na." He said with a slight shrug. Yet Haku continued. And the uncomfortable feeling began to rise in Kari's gut once more. "No.. that's not. It's just you stormed out and all so..." He started racking his brain for some sort of excuse. Some sort of reason to explain why he had chased after Haku in the first place. Yet he was drawing a blank. His thoughts were interrupted by Haku getting closer. Drawing in Kari's attention as he spoke. "P-pet? Date?" Kari stuttered out before backing up away from the man. "Oh yeah, he's definitely into me."
Haku couldn't help but enjoy Kari's discomfort. He was just so entertaining, plus there was the fact he was handsome too, but that would be besides the point. He never really put himself out there, it was strange finding Kari so addicting, so he just had to test the waters with him, if only to see how things would go. "No?" He teased him, chuckling some more. "And you followed as planned." He teased him in return. God life is great. If it is like this everyday, I'll be pleased. He thought to himself, refusing to say it out loud. His comment of calling Kari a pet and later a date, made him smirk when Kari had backed away after stuttering words he just said. "That is right." He added, curious on what exactly Kari planned to do about it.
Stunned Kari stood there for a moment staring at the other male. Still not quite able to process the sudden turn of events. Sure the drinks and companionship had been nice for a moment, but this, this was something else. Haku was apparently interested in him in more ways than one, and was being quite blatant about it. Making Kari realize that there was likely a different intention to letting him off the hook. He needed to think fast, to figure out some way to let the dragon down without causing too much of a scene. After all he knew provoking a superior into a fight definitely wouldn't look good for him. But neither would being the man's 'pet'.
"Listen Haku, I'm flattered, really..." He said, finally using the man's real name for once. "But I already told you, you're barking up the wrong tree." 'Thats it, just let him down easy..' "I don't swing that way, understand?" 'Perfect, now just take your leave an-' "Besides even if I did, what makes you think I would want to be your pet?" 'You freaking idiot, why can't you just keep your mouth shut...'
Haku was pleased as Kari stood there just staring at him. Had he made him speechless? Good. This was completely worth it. He listened when Kari spoke up, noticing that his name was being used instead of some nickname. It would be fine, Kari wasn't going to ruin his mood just because the nicknames ceased. He chuckled when Kari claimed that he was barking up the wrong tree before further explaining that he didn't swing this way before saying his next comment before seemingly changing his mind. "Why wouldn't you want to be my pet? Perhaps you should give me reasons for why you shouldn't be?" He asked, of course not planning to let that title go anytime soon.
'Is this guy serious?! No freaking way he's serious right?'
Kari could hardly believe the words coming out of Haku's mouth. The redhead continued to try and provoke some sort of response out of him. Or perhaps had been for some time. Kari wasn't too sure exactly, yet he had found it odd when the other male had referred to him simply as entertainment much earlier. 'Wait, does he think I'm just some kind of quick lay or something?!' The thought caused a slight red hue to cross his cheeks. Along with a slight scowl. His eyes darted to the dragon King, and just a moment later he stepped toward the man. "Now listen here!" He said. His hand raising to poke the male in the chest with his outstretched index finger. "I don't know if this is some kind of game to you, or a hazing ritual or something. But it's not funny, aight you bag of bones?"
As he spoke Kari involuntarily swayed back and forth toward the redhead, the alcohol having quite the effect on the teen by this point.
Haku chuckled when he noticed Kari going red, unable to resist at finding him adorable. Kari had stepped closer to him, yelling as he poked him in the chest. Strangely enough the action hadn't bothered him, so he allowed Kari to keep going. "Bag of bones?" He chuckled before adding, "From you, I'll accept it." He answered, not taking Kari seriously at all. Kari was swaying back and forth in front of him, since his finger was still against his chest, he reached out to wrap his hand around his finger as if encouraging him to stay right there. "So what if this is some sort of game? What do you plan on doing about it?" He asked, still teasing him playfully. He knew Kari wouldn't attack him, not unless he wanted to be viewed as betraying AP, but then again he'd welcome such a challenge because damn was Kari handsome. "I argue all of your reactions as amusing to me." He added, teasing him once more.
Needless to say, the less Haku cared the more upset Kari became. The redhead clearly not taking the young man seriously. Though he wasn't wrong in doing so. After all Kari was little more than a punk, dragged into the AP with little choice. But Haku was different. The dragon had seen combat, reveled in it even. As far as he was concerned Kari was just a toy to be played with.
That didn't stop Kari from poking the bear though, both figuratively and literally. Yet after having prodded the man several times Haku finally replied. Grabbing hold of his finger as he did so. Karis first reaction was to swing on the guy. And oh boy did he want to. His eyes locking with the other male across from him. It took every ounce of willpower he had not to act on his thoughts. His teeth clenched. And small shimmers of blue flame began to trickle up from his forearms.
He knew that he couldn't touch the man. Firstly there was the fact that he was likely outclassed and wouldn't put up too much of a fight. Second was due to the man's superiority. Even if he had managed to win, or escape, he would end up on the AP's shitlist. And third, was just how public this spectacle of theirs was. Sure they had drawn a few glances from people already, but if they were to fight it would cause chaos. That word, it was the one thing the AP seemed to care about most. It didn't matter where, or to whom it happened. All that mattered is that it did. That's when it finally clicked. Haku probably couldn't have cared less about grabbing a drink with him. Or even trying to know him really. All the dragon cared about was finding his 'entertainment'. And there was only one thing an AP member could have meant by that.
Kari felt like an idiot. He had stupidity followed after the man even though he should have known better. He had accepted his drinks. And now he was faced with a choice. Either fight, and likely loose. Or run away like a dog with its tail between its legs. A low grumble began to rise from his throat. Dreading what he was about to do. The flames vanished almost as soon as they had appeared. And Kari quickly broke eye contact. "Whatever…" He huffed, feeling slightly defeated. He pulled his finger back from the man with a quick motion. As much as he hated it the winner in this situation was clear, and it wasn't him. "Next time.. the drinks are going to be much more expensive." He said with a soft grunt. Immediately followed by a quick turn of the heel. One hand raising to give the redhead a slight wave. "Or maybe find some better entertainment".
Haku noticed the blue flames began trickling up from Kari's forearms. It was interesting how everything had brought them to this point and he was curious on what Kari would do now. When the flames vanished, he couldn't help but pout slightly when Kari had broken contact with him. When Kari pulled away, he released his finger. When he heard Kari's comment, he chuckled, feeling like this was a win after all. "Is that so?" He asked in return before adding, "I'll see you for our next date." He'd shout before waving back at Kari, curious on if he'd linger longer or if he really planned on leaving this time. Well shit, now what? He thought to himself, excited for the chance of seeing Kari again, unsure on why that would be.
