scott hettire let me paint a picture, maybe you’ll understand... general info
appearance Scott is known for being a rather petite boy who stands at a shorter-than-average height of 5’6”, leaving him approximately 3 inches shorter than most men. Similarly, he lacks the muscular physique frequently characterized with the male gender, making him weaker and smaller in comparison. Thin is the best word to describe Scott’s body with small build and willowy limbs. He weighs very little since he possesses little muscle, if any at all. Due to the nature of his body, Scott is considered rather delicate with how slim he appears. He has a flat stomach, however, not a shred of obvious muscle in his abdomen. Pale skin covers Scott’s body, his complexion not being desirable with the current conventional beauty opinions. There is a slender and soft nature to Scott’s hands which make them appear lady-like. They lack callous despite his work and are well-maintained. Matching the skinny, petite body, Scott’s face is slender, however, has a feminine beauty to the facial features. High raised cheekbones design slender cheeks leading down to a subtly rounded chin. A petite nose exists between his eyes, small with an upturned tip. Green eyes are noticed quickly by anybody passing by. Their bright colour is extremely appealing, a majority of people being attracted to them. Long eye lashes with graceful curves frame Scott’s eyes, adding to his more feminine appearance. Ginger-coloured semi-long hair flows from his head, reaching just below his shoulders. These tendrils of longer hair exist at the back, Scott gathering them into a small ponytail. The front is composed of shorter pieces which manifests a layered effect to the style of his hair. Comfortable clothing is something Scott favours, thus he would wear almost anything which keeps him comfortable. There are several sets of clothes found in Scott’s closet, one section related to painting clothes, another his janitorial uniforms and the final is clothing he wears in public. There is a large mixture of clothing, most of Scott’s shirts being plain with some graphic t-shirts based around horror creatures; usually related to the books he reads. Others had interesting designs which captured the young artist’s interest. Anything with profanity never enters Scott’s closet since it makes him extremely uncomfortable. When out casually, Scott adores wearing sweaters or anything cozy. Due to his resilience against extreme temperatures, Scott can wear these without issue in any temperature he pleases. The clothing used for painting are shirts that have been stained by his favoured pastime. Most are splattered with various colours, however, some have small paintings. In Scott’s world, if the shirt is already stained, why can’t he paint something small on it? Then his work clothes consist of a simple dark-grey garb meant for his TRS work. There is nothing special about it and Scott’s father would probably not appreciate him altering the design to suit him better. Unlike some creatures, Scott has two forms because of his species. His first is the human form which most people see, however, the second is water horse. As a kelpie, Scott can transform into a large horse designed to swim through the water. When he shifts, the back of his body becomes a long tail with a sprout of hair at the tip; similar to a horse’s tail. The front shifts into that of a horse, his arms becoming longer while his hands become hooves. His head appears as a horse with a long, luxurious mane. The short-trimmed waterproof pelt is composed of darker shades, mostly dark greys with hints of black. personality
abilities Kelpie Shift -- Beginner The ability to shift into a water horse form, granting the user the front half of a horse and the back half a long, weaving tail designed for swimming. Shifting takes Scott plenty of time because of his lack of capability. He hardly feels comfortable in his kelpie form, therefore, it takes him 35 seconds to shift into his other form. When shifting, Scott goes under intense pain, thus making him hesitant to use the ability. While shifted, Scott’s swim speed is faster, creating some vantage, but he despises the painful sensation. If injured enough in kelpie form, he will revert to human form. Water Manipulation -- Advanced The ability to manipulate water, allowing the user to make, shape and move liquid. Manipulating water has become extremely useful to Scott, however, in a manner his father despises. Constant practice has allowed Scott the ability to clean his rinse water for painting and furthermore, water paints have a newer meaning. Precision with water manipulation has allowed him to carefully move the water droplets, making magnificent fading effects or save his pieces should too much paint be used. Even with pastels, Scott has used the small drops of water to make unique effects on the paper. Otherwise, Scott oftentimes accomplishes playful actions with water. He adores watching drops of water fall from the sky, even subtle manipulating them to spin and move in unique ways. Mundane actions have been given to water manipulation, such as manipulating the water out of his clothing or cleaning up after accidentally spilt water. Ice Manipulation -- Beginner The ability to manipulate ice and freeze water, allowing the uses to use frozen water particles to attack other people. Some users can lower the temperature with this ability by freezing some of the water particles found in air. Scott has no control over his ice manipulation and instead, it becomes a problem when he is extremely scared or panicked. On accident, the temperature around him drops and rock-like ice blocks are made and thrown at high speeds. Where these blocks go is not decided by Scott and is completely random because of his fear. If Scott has a panic attack, his ice manipulation only becomes worse as he starts panicking. Thus, medical professionals have had difficulties handling Scott when he has a panic attack, especially when it is a particularly bad one. Enhanced Swim Speed -- Beginner The ability to move extremely fast when swimming, allowing the user to move very quickly. Never has Scott accessed his enhanced speed since he enjoys the calm of slowly swimming through the depths. He prefers to engage with the fish, admire the currents and feel the wonder of waves on his skin. It is a calming location for him, thus he rarely enhances his swim speed. In moments of extreme panic, this ability does have the potential to randomly flare, however, it would be a small 2 minute spurt because of his lack of training. Aquatic Zoopathy -- Mastered The ability to speak to aquatic animals, including fish and aquatic mammals, reptiles, etc. Animals are interesting for Scott and tend to maintain his attention. He loves swimming with fish and listening to their travels. Smoothly he can speak and understand these animals after years of learning about their language. He enjoys it and is capable of fluently speaking to them. Miscommunications between Scott and aquatic creatures are extremely rare because of his capability with his branch of zoopathy. Naturals: Thermal Resistance, Underwater Breathing backstory Throughout the Hettire family, there have been greats amidst the TRS ranks all known for their capability and bravery. Augustus Hettire was no different, a solemn man determined in his work as a TRS elite hunter. Brave, dashing and a genuine hero in a small town located in New Brunswick, Canada. Everywhere, people knew the Hettire name in their hometown and everyone spoke good. They talked frequently about his bravery, however, further mentioned Augustus could maintain an over-serious composure at times. Constantly, they praised him as a hero, somebody capable of defeating terrors without issue. They were greats and heroes, people who risked their lives for the sake of other people. Becoming apart of the TRS field team was a tradition with few deciding on the field medic course. Thus, when Augustus married Jessamy, a young woman who worked in the TRS secretary office, he believed he would be capable of continuing the Hettire legacy. Those thoughts of their legacy were fueled when he discovered Jessamy was pregnant with a boy. Months later, Scott Hettire was born to Jessamy and Augustus Hettire. From the beginning, expectations were weighed the infant’s shoulders. Courageous, heroic, stoic and helpful, those were the traits his father desired from the moment Scott left his mother’s womb. Those were the expectations of a Hettire and his father wished to enforce them at a young age, however, it proved difficult. Consumed by a timid nature, Scott frequently spent time with the company of his mother, usually frightened by his father’s stone-faced expressions. The softened features of Jessamy’s face manifested a sense of safety for the young boy. Constantly, the shy child depended on Jessamy. Whenever somebody wished to introduce themselves to the young boy, Scott would cling tightly to his mother, hiding his face from the person. At times, Augustus and Jessamy would discuss their son’s development, the mother stating it was likely childhood shyness, however, it would eventually manifest into more. School, an entrapment for everybody who reached 5 years of age and a complete hell for Scott. Throughout their New Brunswick town, there were only two learning institutions, one being the elementary school and the other a high school. Everybody around his age was enrolled in the kindergarten class, however, Scott’s shyness kept him from interacting. The other children were prepared, their parents assuring friends were made prior to attendance. Meanwhile, Augustus had worried himself extensively with Scott’s future from the beginning. Friendships were hindered and the ginger-haired child almost immediately became a lonesome child who spent his time nose-deep in books. Teachers attempted to push Scott to socialize, but everybody was already grouped in his class. There were several cliques of close students, each hesitant to allow somebody new to join their group. While Scott was not bothered by the quietness of his school life, it became a nightmare when a group of bullies viewed him as a vulnerable target. Two children, boys who suddenly began pushing Scott before giving him a half-hearted apology, which the naive kindergartener believed initially. Those bumps were merely accidents, nothing drastic or frightening. Alas, Scott never realized how things would eventually become worse because of his lonely nature. When the derogatory comments arrived, Scott was not unprepared as the bullies made him cry during recess. The young, lonely boy would find a place to dry his tears, sniffling from the horrible things they said. Confidence deteriorated, the bullies always informing him Only tattletales tell the adults. Everything was bottled up, hidden from sight, however, the ramifications of being bullied began becoming apparent quickly. There were times Scott faked being sick to avoid the situation at work, however, it never worked. As time proceeded, they screamed coward among other criticisms and Scott believed every word of it. They slandered his name, nobody wishing to associate themselves with the young ginger who had nobody to protect him. Self-esteem disappeared, sorrow common and lonesomeness abundant, Scott struggled with the social aspect of school. The bullies had their time to bother him since the ginger-haired boy walked home from school. At the age of 8, his mother found out about the horrible bullying happening to her son. She had followed down his route, planning to surprise him with an after school trip to his favourite restaurant because of a 100% he got in his class the day prior. There, she saw them bothering her son. Motherly instincts sprung into action as Jessamy pulled over and reprimanded the children before demanding they return to school with her. The principal was informed about the horrid incident, hours being spent talking as Scott quietly sniffled and clung to his mother. The school promised they would handle the problem after hearing Scott’s story about how the bullies tormented him since kindergarten. Alas, Jessamy feared the bullies would fixate on her son after school, however, she was in luck. Their home neighboured a small orphanage, one of the older boys there who was approximately six years older than her son. Thus, she asked Dimitri Song to escort Scott to and from school for her son’s safety. At first, Scott was hesitant, but quickly grew attached to the teenager. It was peculiar of her son, but Jessamy never complained about the notion. Hours later, Scott’s father returned home and was informed of the incident. Disappointment marked Augustus face as he quietly stated Kid should have defended himself. Only moments later did his parents argued before it finally ceased. An upset Scott fled to his room, scared and uncertain. Alas, that evening was when it began. A pencil and paper, Scott began drawing in hopes of ignoring the one argument his parents had and discovered endless happiness. Drawing, it allowed him to vent his emotions in abstract or sometimes darker ways. It made him happy. With a smile, he began exploring this new avenue. The bullies laid off since they were caught, allowing Scott to enjoy art. Everyday when he returned home, he rushed past his father to draw or paint. Birthdays, Christmas, all he requested was art supplies, much to Augustus’ dismay. Whenever he attempted to teach his son, he discovered him hiding in his room, painting these strange pictures. Some were composed of black and white, lone figures crying in a darkness. Representations of his anxieties were created, but his parents never knew how to react to his art. Thus, Scott felt awkward about it, however, he kept drawing, painting and doing anything artistic since he enjoyed it. Each day, he walked home under the observant eyes of Dimitri, and on one of those days, his art was stacked on top, Scott analyzing it. Eventually, he was questioned about it, Scott showing his art and receiving on honest opinion telling him it was good accompanied by encouragement. Those few moments earned Dimitri admiration from the young child and thus began his kid’s crush on Dimitri. He did not understand love yet, but the kindness Scott received made the young boy happy. Months later the bullying picked up again, Scott informing the teachers, however, only immediate action was taken. Long-term repercussions for treating him horribly were never done, thus the bullying only got worse. They mocked him, dragging his emotions through turmoil while the school did nothing to assist Scott Hettire. Signs of a future issue manifested, the young boy growing extremely self-conscious and uncomfortable in social situations. At a younger age than usual, Scott was diagnosed with Social Anxiety. He was a frightened young boy, uncertain because nobody seemed to be providing a long-term remedy to the scary situation. As time went on, Dimitri became old enough to receive a driving permit, thus Scott’s mother taught him. Eventually, his crush got a car and began picking him up from school, allowing Scott to even ride shotgun. Something minor as being placed in the passenger seat elated the young boy enough that he could forget about the bullying and the bruises he received from them. He could observe his crush focused on getting them home safely; he was adorable! Perhaps it was weird how much he adored Dimitri, but Scott’s innocent childhood notions of romance conquered. An entire year of blissfully being by his crush’s side was Heaven for Scott, however, it all came crashing down on one horrible school day when Dimitri invited him. After a school day’s worth of torment from his bullies, Scott was prepared to settle down in his usual seat in Dimitri’s car, however, there was something different. Sitting in the front was a raven-haired, bespectacled man who appeared around Dimitri’s age. Only moments later did Dimitri tell him to sit in the backseat. A shocked Scott awkwardly listened, figuring Dimitri was maybe only doing a good deed… that had to be all… Silently, the young ginger stayed in the backseat, listening to the pair talk without so much as a word to him. Their fixation was merely on one another, almost as though the backseat did not exist. The notion disturbed Scott, the young boy hugging himself while he looked out the window, waiting until the boy, named Malakai, was dropped off. Afterwards, he talked an earful, however, more awkwardly than previously... He feared the worse, not being good enough for Dimitri. The following day, he prayed Malakai would not be stationed in the front seat, however, his green eyes noticed the raven-haired man taking his spot again... Through the days, Scott found himself in the backseat, alone, forgotten and feeling cast aside by his childhood crush... Dimitri was older, but what said they were unable to date? Why could they not be together? Alas, Scott was merely a child, unable to understand the consequences Dimitri faced should he date a minor. Rides home became quiet for Scott, the young boy unable to join in the conversations Dimitri and Malakai had. They were classmates, thus they were naturally familiar with one another. Days marched on, Scott no longer having those private rides with Dimitri to look forward to. Due to his sorrow, the bullying became worse since he never mentioned it; the school would not rescue him. Then, the worse day arrived after another bad sessioning of bullying he narrowly escaped. They arrived at Malakai’s home, the bespectacled man just leaving the car when Dimitri requested him to wait. Confused, Scott glanced out his window, watching as his crush approached the bespectacled man. As he watched, their faces leaned closer, until their lips met. Breathing became rapidly as Scott’s eyes widened, tears surfacing. He closed his eyes, glancing away and wiping away the tears. In a single day... his heart broke into pieces. Dimitri never held feelings for him... he loved somebody else, he loved Malakai... In Scott’s mind, he thought he was not good enough for Dimitri. There was something wrong with him if the sweet man did not reciprocate those emotions. Tears were held back once Dimitri returned to the car, taking them home. After a quick goodbye, Scott exited the vehicle and hurried inside the house, heading up to his room to cry. Dimitri did not love him, his heart belonged to Malakai, not the scrawny, ginger-haired neighbour who admired him... Darker... the art Scott drew, painted and wrote expressed the sorrow trapped inside his broken heart. Everything he dreamed of was burned the moment he noticed Dimitri’s lips touch Malakai’s. The following day, Scott was taken to school, the young boy tired from spending most of the evening upset. When school ended, Scott quickly left in hopes of avoiding the bullies and Dimitri with his boyfriend, however, was found, the front seat vacant. He tried to insist he would walk before trying the backseat to get Dimitri to leave him alone. His crush insisted on shotgun, but... the seat was tainted to Scott the moment he watched Dimitri kiss Malakai... The passenger seat was meant for important people, people Dimitri cared about him, not foolish neighbours who thought he could eventually date the man. Alas, he was being prepped for the worst week of school he could possibly have. That morning, Scott woke up and left early to walk, eventually being found by Dimitri where they talked. Frustration filled the ginger-haired boy who still held upset from when Dimitri kissed Malakai and on accident he confessed his emotions. Frightened by the possibly response, Scott ran away, hiding in the bushes of a nearby park, panicking from the situation. The boy hid from Dimitri, the symptoms of his anxiety promptly manifesting. Quick breathing occurred as he panicked, attempting to stay quiet as he hugged himself, regretting that he admitted his feelings. To worsen matters, Scott’s anxiety medication was forgotten because of his haste. Mother was called, and eventually, Scott was found crying for help since his hair was tangled in the bushes. Alas, everything felt awkward between him and Dimitri, thus Scott clung to his mother before being taken home for half the day. Afterwards, his mother returned him to school to assure he would not fall behind, however, the day grew more sour as the kids bullied him. When school finished, Scott tried to be quick, but the bullies caught him before he could leave. They threatened him with bruises and black eyes, but before they could hit him, Dimitri appeared. Hastily, Scott retreated with Dimitri, getting into the passenger seat in hopes he would leave quicker. When taken home, Scott scurried inside, frightened by the bullies. Thursday arrived, Scott being frightened as the bullies threw crumpled up notes with threats of black eyes. They were getting braver, clearly no longer caring about these pathetic repercussions the teachers decided on. Frightened, Scott attempted to hastily vacate when the bells rung. He tossed everything into his backpack, hauling it over his shoulder before quickly leaving the hallways, but he was found. They trapped him against the fence, amused by Scott’s struggle as he panicked, breathing fast, feeling small, eyes shut as he feared the pain to arrive, however, he soon heard a familiar voice. Dimitri had entered the school grounds to find him, shoving away one bullies so Scott could stand and clung. Alas, Dimitri was not finished with the hooligans. With his skills, he planned on scaring him while Scott screamed for him not to; he did not want Dimitri getting in trouble. Nobody was hurt, the boys grabbed and forced to apologize, but Scott merely wanted to go home. When the damage was done, the boys ran off and Scott was taken home. He was told to inform his mother, thus he did and included the details which left his mother upset at the school. Moments later, Dimitri was arrested, Scott heading outside to investigate with his mother. Jessamy spoke against the arrest, alas, nothing could be done at that exact moment other than an interview with the witness, her son. Slowly, Scott revealed the story to the deputy, explaining the details and providing a note stuck inside his school binder. Despite Dimitri breaking his heart, Scott could not tolerate his first crush being sent behind bars. When Scott finished his story, Jessamy added that the school failed to assist her son with the bullying. With permission from his mother, Scott was allowed to stay home, only to discover the following morning, the loud noises of a tow-truck backing into the orphanage. They were planning on kicking Dimitri out because of his so-called mischief, even though he was protecting Scott. Once again, Jessamy assisted in helping Scott and informed them to move Dimitri’s car and his stuff to her home. In Jessamy’s eyes, Dimitri saved her son, therefore she owed him plenty. Later that evening, she paid for a lawyer to help Dimitri in his case. When the time arrived and a judge presided over Dimitri’s case, they were fortunate the school was held accountable over Dimitri. Once free from prison, Scott’s mother offered Dimitri refuge in their home which he agreed. The boys shared a room, which made Scott flustered at the notion. Meanwhile, Augustus was displeased with the decision and begrudgingly grumbled about it. It was becoming clear Scott could not defend himself and the stigma of anxiety resulted in Augustus believing lessons in an on-field TRS job being a waste. Shortly afterwards, Jessamy pressed charges against the school for failing to protect Scott from the bullies. When the court affairs were finished, the boys received a punishment for treating Scott horribly and matters related to bullying were strictor. Life became mostly average from there with Scott gradually learning to manage his social anxiety. Alas, at the age of 16, his father began discussing jobs and getting more disappointed with Scott’s nervousness to start driving. Frequently, Augustus complained about Scott’s desire to become an artist, insisting he should pick a job in the TRS even if it was not on-field. Only moments later did Augustus manage to get Scott a job helping with the cleaning efforts inside a TRS headquarters. The boy was not interested in the job, however, his domineering father left little choice. Augustus was against Scott being an artist and failed to see his skill, even as he accurately drew horror villains from his favourite books. When compared to the movie, they were mostly accurate. Eventually, Scott graduated at 17 since he excelled in his courses. Around when Scott was months away from his 18th birthday, Augustus was offered a position in Lorsette where they required the hunting power. Thus the family packed, alas, confirmations came to light as the backseat of Dimitri’s car was packed and Jessamy told Scott to keep him company. The movers drove a truck full of furniture while everything else was packed into the vehicles. A long trip with Dimitri rekindled those feelings, Scott enjoying every second spent with the man as they headed to Lorsette, Newfoundland. When they arrived, Augustus managed to get Scott another janitor job which the anxious boy accepted. Unfortunately, when he entered the TRS, he discovered him there... Malakai Moors, the man Dimitri fell for and kissed for the first time was in Lorsette. Heart break was a fearful notion, and Scott found himself struggling with his feelings. Was it wrong he desired the romantic embrace of Dimitri so badly? He wished not to be hurt, however, Scott was proven to not be good enough once, thus he feared Malakai would win Dimitri’s affection again. misc - Likes: Horror books, dark chocolate, relaxing music, lo-fi, electronic music, art, painting, drawing, music, singing, reading, writing, Dimitri, dreams, his mother, ice cream, warm blankets, rain, fire places - Dislikes: Horror movies, heavy rock music, crowds, socializing, his father, bullies, being heart broken, needles, disapproval, pineapple, teen romance stories, rejection, his sensitivity, nuts, spicy foods, sports, TRS hunting, terrors, fighting, the Assembly, being a janitor, jumpscares - Fears: Social situations, presenting, crowds, his father, needles, terrors, the Assembly, judgement, rejection - He has Social Anxiety Disorder.
