appearance As of body type, Dexter is average only being a height of 5’9”. He is not very muscular and instead takes on a slender appearance, this partially due to the few weeks where he mistreated his body and former laziness. There is little muscle mass to him and he oftentimes does not attempt to change this remotely. As of skin complexion, Dexter has a fair tone, although, it does lean more towards the pale side due to spending a majority of his time indoors or outside at night. As it currently stands, he does not possess any scars or other blemishes. It is not uncommon to see him smoking which is a nasty habit he picked up. Oftentimes, Dexter keeps to himself which means people will find him alone and away from crowded locations. Atop his head is a messy mop of red hair which is usually only left somewhat tidy is anything. The only exception to this is the odd occasion where he may be required to attend formal events, but this is rare. His eyes are bright yellow, often popping and causing people to notice them immediately. Yellow and black striped glasses frame his eyes which allows him to see long distances. He wears them constantly unless heading to bed or on the odd occasion they may have broken; if they break he tends to wear contacts. Most people can easily notice that Dexter rarely smiles and will not even to merely be polite. His expression is often guarded and can at times possess hints of unfriendliness to ward away people since he finds social interaction exhausting. When it comes to style, Dexter prefers casual and comfortable clothing opposed to the formal wear that most may expect due to his family’s wealth. Pants are usually typical blue jeans and he commonly wears plain shirts. Oftentimes he has headphones either nestled around his neck or over his ears. Dexter especially takes a liking to large and warm sweaters and if he can hide his hands in the sleeves that is a bonus. Whenever possible he will wear some sort of sweater unless it is ludicrously warm out. Due to his love of sweaters, Dexter keeps his bedroom at a lower temperature and keeps temperature balancing charms in order to wear them. personality Dexter is a rather intelligent individual who does what he has to. He’s a hard-working guy who often works efficiently in hopes and getting in and out of wherever he may be. Most people would find that he tends to be a bit fidgety when he becomes bored or uncomfortable in a situation. Despite his parents being rather social, Dexter is very much an introvert and rarely associated himself with other people. This does not mean he is shy, but rather he can find that making conversation, especially small talk, with another person can be tiring. When his parents died Dexter became very independent and grew more prone to avoiding people to make certain nobody sees him upset. Considering Dexter was a lazy lowlife before they died and has transformed into a hardworking and efficient person it’s easy to say that he’s capable of adapting to current circumstances. Most of Dexter’s flaws branch from his introvert ways. He’s not well adjusted to thinking about the feelings of others or cooperating which often makes him infuriating to work with. He can be blunt and even a tad bit sarcastic which makes a lot of people begin to dislike him. Dexter can be extremely stubborn and often won’t budge on certain ideas if he doesn’t want to do it. He can be rather rebellious towards authority figures and has some problems taking orders; thus another reason for his preference of working alone. Dexter often makes up for these flaws with his bravery and quick thinking attitude. Strategy is a game that Dexter can play and he’s very smart about what he does. He is very tactful, oftentimes being able to observe and analyze the best places where he can have some alone time. Although it may not seem like it, Dexter is pretty nice and would help people who are in need, however, he would probably still keep his caution and closed off attitude. Since he often has a severe lack of friends he can be trustworthy with secrets. Not to mention being an introvert for most of his life has made him observant and very good at thinking things over alongside sorting out his emotions. He has a steely determination to get the job done right and tries his best not to take unnecessary risks. On the off chance people do get close to Dexter they often find that he’s very relaxed and loyal to his very few friends. He tends to talk more in smaller groups and feels very uncomfortable around large groups of people. When it does come to friends he will be very protective of them since Dexter knows that friends can be hard to find; not to mention not many people are able to put up with him. On most occasions Dexter is more patience with friends than strangers, in fact a majority of the time he finds strangers to be intolerable and unpredictable. Around people that he does not know too well, Dexter can be more on the tense and guarded side. Dexter tends not to trust people very easily and he often holds grudges should somebody wrong him. It can at times take months for him to trust someone and until then Dexter is often keeping a cautious eye on said person. Meanwhile he can hold a grudge for a very long time and on rare occasions he can get a tad vindictive, but this usually only happens if something incredibly bad happens. If Dexter is mad at somebody it’s pretty easy to tell since his tolerance for said person plummets and he tends to snap at them a lot. abilities Night Vision --- Passive --- Advanced Control This allows Dexter to see in the dark and can be toggled easily. Bright lights are the real bane to this ability and can cause him to become disoriented when the ability is functioning. It hurts his eyes severely and can even go lengths to cloud his vision for a few minutes. Sometimes when Dexter is exhausted or intoxicated the ability will not activate. Umbrakinesis --- Offensive/Defensive --- Intermediate Control The capability to control shadows/darkness. He can make darkness into solid weapons, condensed mists and shields. However, this does consume energy, thus if he doesn’t rest he can have difficulties controlling his powers. When he lacks control this can mean that the darkness under his control will act out or do absolutely nothing. Sometimes the darkness he controls will move slower if he’s tired. When Dexter is in bright places his Umbrakinesis tends to weaken significantly and he needs to use more energy to create darkness. Dexter is also capable to teleport in a way by phasing through shadows and coming out through other shadows, however, this takes significant energy. Usually when he comes through he tends to feel dizzy and stagger quite a bit. He can phase anywhere in a two mile radius, but the shadows he goes through must be taller and wider than him. Dexter can bring other people along, but this takes more energy to the point where he may need help walking. backstory On December 23rd Dexter was born to a wealthy family that lived in Lorsette for their entire lives. His parents loved him and often adorned him with attention whenever they could and considering Dexter was an only child he was rather spoiled. Since his parents traveled a lot Dexter got the chance to travel the world a lot when he was younger. His parents were rather protective of him when he was young since they were a little paranoid about the idea of their son being taken while he was young for the sole reason of their wealth. This made it awfully difficult for Dexter to make any long term friends since his random absences often drove wedges between him and other people. He even tended to think that he was simply never meant to have friends, thus he became a massive introvert despite the fact that his parents were social butterflies. Around when Dexter was 7 he was often withdrawn and distracted by video games and education. Most of the teachers showed consistent concern about Dexter’s outsider like behavior and attempted numerous times to make him more social, but it never worked. The reason for this was that Dexter’s parents were major enablers around this time and if Dexter didn’t want to do something he didn’t have to. Most of Dexter’s day were spent lounging around and sometimes spending a couple of hours with the very few kids that he considered to be on good terms with. As he grew older he simply continued lacking work ethic and when the time came for his parents to push for him getting a job it began to get interesting. Dexter was around sixteen when his parents insisted that he started getting a job and working for himself. They had some powerful strings that they could pull to get their son some well-paying jobs, but the problem was that Dexter skipped work multiple times. He lacked any definition of work ethic and often spent his time hanging around a rather bad crowd. At this point Dexter’s life became plagued with criminal activity like vandalism and theft which made him rather disreputable. He was simply a lowlife that only took things like his education seriously and rarely tried to work hard to earn anything. To make matters worst, Dexter was often the one planning these criminal activities. Thus, Dexter began getting grounded a lot which started his issues with being told what to do. His parents for the most part were at a lost and had absolutely no clue how to solve the problem. For four years they tried stern talks and empty threats, but nothing seemed to work to get their son to clean up his act. There were points when Dexter’s parents even debated sending him to military school in hopes that the strict instructors could fix the problem, however, the problem was abandoned since his parents felt like it would be a form of betrayal. On one November night Dexter got caught breaking and entering. His friends had ditched him to escape which left him at the scene to get arrested. His parents were friends of the people who they tried to steal from so thankfully he was let off the hook, but Dexter’s parents were reasonably livid. They yelled at him a lot, taking no mind that their son was a 20-year-old adult, but the point was that he almost had to face jail time. Unfortunately after the incident his parents had to go on a business trip, thus they hired somebody to watch their troublemaking son. While his parents were gone it was essentially house arrest since his supervisor never let the young man out of his sight. If Dexter so much as attempted to do one bad activity he would receive a terrible punishment. It caused him to begrudgingly listen to his supervisor at the time. Eventually, November shifted to December and his parents stated they would return home shortly for his birthday and Christmas. When the day arrived for his parents to come home, they never came home. His grandparents who had been helping to watch Dexter began to panic and told him to text his parents. It was not long until the police arrived at the door and stated that his parents had died in a terror attack while on the bad ride home. There was disbelief at the start when they informed him that his parents were gone. He was upset and refused to believe the concept of his parents being gone. It brought back memories of how they felt when he decided not to listen. The times when they were upset over his criminal behaviour. The guilt had rushed back so suddenly that Dexter hid in his room for days. It was easy to tell that he was increasingly upset to the point where he would barely eat or sleep. When people saw him, they would constantly comment on his horrible appearance. His grandparents pushed him to improve his health habits, but for a while Deter found himself unable to bear the concept. It later led to him fainting one day and waking up in the hospital. Upon getting home his grandparents assured that he was eating properly and getting enough rest. When the funeral came, his grandparents decided it was best for Dexter to simply go to the service and return home. His exhaustion caused him to abide and how upset he felt afterwards only made him feel the need for solidation. Later on arrived the concept of what would happen with his parents company. Due to how upset Dexter was, his uncle took over for the time being. There were assurances that should Dexter desire to he could take the company. Yet the choice made him uncertain, especially since he found himself too upset to think straight when it came to his parents. Thus he was informed not to worry about it until he was ready. Whenever the topic seemed to touch about his parents, Dexter would begin getting upset. It did not take long until he unfriended the troublemakers he hung out with, both for leaving him and out of guilt over causing his parents so much trouble. It resulted in Dexter being alone, which shortly became the way he preferred it. People meant questions and questions meant talking about the past which was something Dexter now wanted to let go of. Nowadays, Dexter has adapted due to the loss of his parents and the guilt over being a troublemaking burden. He lives with his grandparents while attempting to cope with his parents being gone. Oftentimes, Dexter found himself avoiding people and preferring his world of solidation partially due to his introverted attitude and his parents being gone.
