Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

I DON'T THINK YOU'VE EVER TRIED BEING A ROLE MODEL BEFORE.
The water is relaxing. She could not stop thinking about such. But each dive in the water, each pulsating beat her heart makes, each breath she takes as she quickly resurfaces out of the water and taking a huge chunk of breath after a few minutes of being underwater; she finds swimming so much like temptation. It drowns her in and keeps you in tact, and you seem to have no intention of letting it go afterwards. It's a natural thing for sirens, to love swimming either in lava or water, though Colette preferred water more.
She resurfaces again to take a breath, and her eyes meet with the sight of the four boys, two so annoyingly in love with each other, and one lonely and rather calm in his still position. She preferred the noisier guys, the guys who would shout at their friends, not the boring ones who simply stay quiet even if prompted to talk. But those two gays are just annoying -- she has not hatred for homosexuals, though -- she could swear she would want to keep herself underwater than stare at them forever.
Colette is about to dip but she sees the quiet guy standing up, and this makes her raise an eyebrow. She wants to ask the same question Matt is asking him. Then again though, she knows people have their own things to do. Colette's primary focus was to swim in the sea and not mind anything at all.
But she could not help but feel curious... so she returns to the shore and walks up to @tobi, although wet and drippy and her dress soaked in sea water. "Mind if I walk with you for a while?" She asks him in a rather quiet voice, before smiling sweetly at him in the most sincere manner she could.

While a majority of people may have been bothered by Wren's public display of affection towards Matt, the golem refused to cease the action. Even when individuals direct spoke out against it, the soldier would care little for their opinions in favour of providing his beloved repairman with his well-deserved attention. Being forced to use precious minutes of time to locate Matt resulted in the requirement to shower him in affection. Fixation was completely on the marvellous, blue-haired man as he proceeded to snuggle him immensely.
[break][break]
Currently, Matt appeared to be the only individual to display emotions of genuine care, a rarity for the golem. The creator was a horrible man, prone to despicable means of punishment should Wren fail to meet the exact specifications for carrying out the particular mission. Screams, consistent threats of disassembly and endless criticism would flow steadily from those lips as he scowled at the failure of his creation. Alas, Wren was merely the creation, expected to carefully follow the requests of his master without rebuke or error; he was a machine.
[break][break]
The laughter increased as Matthew explained there were no parties he was kicked out from, the golem promptly snuggling him more before poking his nose. A broad smile remained evident on Wren's thin lips as he stared at the repairman.
[break][break]
"Good!" He exclaimed gleefully before pouting. "Buuuuuut now I can't have fun... unless..."
[break][break]
A wicked smirk touched his lips, however, Wren refused to enact on his instincts to start murdering the repairman's company; Matt appeared to be enjoying his time around these strangers. Resisting temptation was difficult for the golem, especially with the hallucinated words of the waves insisting to sully the water with blood. The shuffle of movement was easily detected by Wren, the golem curiously glancing towards the man with short, white hair as he stood. The soldier quieted himself, listening to Matt's question as the blonde scurried from the water, moving to join the other stranger.
[break][break]
There was a tightening to his grip around Matt, a few more snuggles being provided before he whispered in Matt's ear a curiosity he needed to ask.
[break][break]
"Are they dating?" Wren whispered.
[break][break]
When people cared immensely about one another, did they not proceed to endlessly snuggle the other individual? Almost immediately Wren would accomplish the task of displaying his affection for Matt through abrupt snuggling, their relationship leaning more to a naughty pursuit of pleasure on each side. Alas, the thought of potentially dating the repairman always made Wren curious, especially considering how sweet the blue-haired man treated him. Certainly, anybody who stole his heart would be the luckiest individual in the world to possess such a fantastically sweet and attractive man.

everyone seemed so preoccupied with one thing or another, that he really didn't think they would notice him getting up. he felt the warmth in his cheeks. he wasn't that great with being the center of attention and at that moment all eyes were on him. so much for his stealthy escape. he had really hoped that they wouldn't of noticed. it's not like he could just walk off. after all they had called out to him. he wasn't sure why he had been called out after all. those two seemed to be enough company for each other. the last thing he needed was for them to accuse him of watching their display of affection. besides this had simply been a detour. reminiscing times when the weather was warmer and he could actually go swimming without the risk of freezing and falling victim to hypothermia.
he smiled apologetically. like he had been caught doing something he shouldn't be doing. he looked at the group in front of him."um, actually, yeah.. i still have to get a couple more presents."he said softly before a nervous laugh escaped his lips. he turned his attention towards coco. he had been in the middle of responding to the first question."oh, um...sure. i mean i don't mind. aren't you going to get cold..."he asked once more as coco had gone swimming with her clothes.
it seemed like his little shopping trip would have to wait a bit longer. it wasn't like he was going to ditch her after she had made her way directly towards him.
Matthew had noticed the two, it seemed they planned on leaving. "I don't know." He finally whispered back to Wren, unsure of the answer. "Do you want to continue this back at home?" He teased, debating on playing hard to get with his Wren. It wasn't like he was bothered with being out in public, but for the sake of his Wren remaining safe, it was in their best interest to get out of sight. He would wait for Wren to answer him before attempting to stand, despite knowing that Wren wasn't likely going to release him from this grip anytime soon. The faster they got home, the faster they could proceed. He had been waiting for what felt like forever to be once more in his Wren's company and now that he had it, he wasn't willing to let him go anytime soon. I love being in my husband's presence. I just wish that I could tell him. He thought to himself, glancing towards the water briefly as he allowed some thoughts to cross his mind before looking back towards Wren. "Ready to go?" He would ask, knowing that Wren wasn't likely to turn him down on some private time at home.
I DON'T THINK YOU'VE EVER TRIED BEING A ROLE MODEL BEFORE.
She doesn't hear what the long-haired man whispers to his apparent boyfriend, but by how he's staring at her and her company it suddenly makes her feel uneasy. It makes her regret why she asked him to go for a walk with him in the first place. But the deed is done; she is in front of the white-haired man and she will make this moment worthwhile. The walk will be just as short as her time here; truth is, she just really needs to feed on the attention she may get from talking to this man. Being in water for long has certainly taken a toll on her energy, and suddenly she feels a little groggy.
The young man speaks and she manages a small smile, albeit her eyes growing quite mistier, as if about to fall asleep. "I'm fine. The water's temperature does not affect me at all. And trust me, this is only going to be a short walk. I have questions I want to ask to a stranger like you." She tells him, smile starting to grow smaller as she tries to take a hold of herself. She needs to talk to him the best she could, gather up more attention and more closeness... of course, this is not only for the purpose of absorbing energy, it's also to get to know him as an acquaintance.
She has no time to reconsider her decisions. She turns and looks back at the young man momentarily with a smile, fingers beckoning him to follow. "Well then, shall we go?" She asks him, voice sounding rather low as she asks this.
For one, she is more than happy to be finally leaving the shore all so she may be able to go home. Not enough energy from the closeness of a person means not enough willpower to trek home all on her own. As much as she wants to keep swimming, a siren has her limits. She's been taught of that long times ago and she still remembers the effects of what happens if a siren does not take this into mind.
So she turns to the white-haired man and smirks. "Well, I'm just curious. Not everyone comes to this shore just because they want to. They always have a reason as to why they are here, or why they came here instead of the first place they should be going." She surveys the surroundings; everything around her is pitch black, save for the light the moon emanates. Only a few people are walking around the beach at this time. "So tell me... why did you come here in the first place?"

Aggressively, Wren proceeded to snuggle Matthew with no intentions of ceasing his affectionate attitude. The deceptions in those whispered words attempted to throw him off the trail, the golem felt he deserved to provide the repairman with endless attention. They were apart for several days, or at least, the psychopath's mind believed because of his lack of touch with reality; there were instances where he stated to be older than informed. The warmth shared between himself and Matthew was pleasant, resulting in Wren clinging tightly to his beloved repairman.
[break][break]
Quietly, the golem stared at the stranger's, green eyes wide as he watched them prepare to leave together. A broad grin stayed on Wren's face as the pair prepared to leave, since without them around, he could enjoy alone time with Matthew. Those fools evidently failed to realize how incredible time with the wondrous repairman could become, however, that would be their loss. A day would arrive where they would whine about missing these crucial moments in Wren's belief. The schizophrenic's admiration for blue-haired craftsman was immense and unbreakable.
[break][break]
When Matt answered his inquiry about the pair dating, Wren pulled away slightly, cocking his head to the side. Confusion and curiosity were evident in the golem's bright green eyes. Pondering the connection between the blond and white-haired individuals was brief, especially considering the inquiry which escaped Matt's lips afterwards. A large, toothy grin crossed Wren's face as he nodded enthusiastically at the idea of heading home.
[break][break]
"YES! Then you will brush my hair! Right, Maaaaatt?!" Wren responded with child-like excitement. "PLEASE?! PLEASE?! We can use any brush you want!"
[break][break]
A tight grip remained around the repairman, although, Wren trembled with excitement over the notion of potentially having further private time with Matt. Extensive and rigorous work easily knotted the white locks of hair flowing from Wren's head, thus receiving a proper brushing and perhaps some additional special attention easily manifested an overzealous feeling in the golem. There was no hesitation as Wren quickly escaped Matt's grasp, standing up at his full height before kneeling down to pluck the repairman from the sand.
[break][break]
Holding Matthew in his arms would make it difficult for anybody to attempt to steal the treasured craftsman. In the distance, Wren's hallucinations had manifested a shady group of people peering through binoculars. The psychopath's delusional mind believed the possibility of these hallucinations desiring to thieve his precious Matt. Success was simply not an option, although, for reasons unknown to the schizophrenic; the shady group of people were nonexistent, and therefore could not even touch Matt.

he was glad he had gotten up and started moving. any longer and he was sure that he would start to feel like his fingers were freezing. what he hadn't been expecting was the company. not that he minded that much. she had said she wanted to go for a walk as well. it wasn't going to hurt him any if she tagged along.
he had asked her if she wouldn't be cold and she started to tell him that the cold temperature didn't affect her. he looked at her curiously. even more so when she told him that she had some questions. he wasn't sure what she wanted to ask."oh, um...okay."
that wasn't suspicious at all. they had just met. what sort of questions was she going to ask him? yet, he started walking."yeah...let's."he nodded as he walked away from the beach and started towards the sidewalk.
he blushed. it did seem rather silly to show up out of the blue. after all he had only been walking down this way, because there was a shop he wanted to visit."i was simply curious. i haven't seen the beach during this time of season too often."he told her honestly. unsure if that was the answer she was looking for. he was starting to feel nervous. like all this questions needed to be answered correctly or something bad would happen.
Matthew was pleased when Wren nodded, asking if he would brush his hair. "I'd love to." He answered, enjoying his time with Wren. As expected, Wren hadn't released him so he would have to wait for Wren to do so if they planned on leaving, that is if they were heading home anytime soon. When Wren stood, he was released from his grip. Before he could stand up to playfully flee, Wren had picked him up from the ground, now in his grip there would be no escape for him so he submitted willingly, wanting nothing more then being alone with Wren. He relaxed in Wren's grip, quite comfy being in his arms. This was how some days ended, being in Wren's arms. That was half the reason why he liked teasing Wren, because he knew that he couldn't remember who they were to each other before Wren lost his memory. Each passing day hurt like hell because he knew that he'd never be able to share those past memories with his beloved fiance. With slow breaths, he leaned his head against Wren's shoulder as he was carried away, unlike the rest of the world he didn't fear his Wren, but embraced him.

Both she and the man are all alone in the beach, walking. The two lovers are probably nowhere in sight, but Colette doesn't care much of them, really. No, she is not here to hook up with the young man; she wants to remain single until the right age is come. Curiosity simply gets the best of her at times; this time is no exception. It's the curiosity of a siren that could kill, she thinks to herself.
He answers her question, and it's the same as her reasons for asking these sorts of questions in the first place; it's the curiosity that makes you do all sorts of things, Colette realizes. "Oh, is that so." Colette chuckles to herself. Somehow there's a nervousness in the man that she feels somewhere, but it's not too evident. "You were curious... Ah, the joys of curiosity, right? It makes you wonder and do all sorts of things." She states, in the most calming way possible. "Don't worry, there's no need to be nervous."
Colette looks across the sand and sees a few birds perched on the rocks. Believe her, she still has so many questions in store, but she'll go through them one by one. "Tell me, sir," She begins, her eyes still affixed to the birds. "What do you think of the sea, so far?"

he was glad he had made the decision to get up and leave. it wasn't that he didn't enjoy the company, it was more that he more or less was ready to continue on his way. he wasn't going to be rude and leave her behind. she seemed like she had been ready to get away from those two as well.
they walk in no particular direction and for a moment there is silence before they started speaking. tobi nods slight."it's only natural to be curious. i guess."he says with a small laugh. though sometimes being too curious could get you in trouble. not that he had experienced that first hand.
"am i nervous? i don't mean to be. i assure you i'm not."he told her a bit to quickly. had he been giving off that impression. he hadn't meant to if he had. they continued their walk, silence falling for a short time.
"you can call me tobias. i mean that's my name..."he told her with a smile before pondering her question for a few seconds before coming up with an answer."well, it's lovely, but it can also be dangerous. it's a mystery and one that doesn't necessarily needs to be solved...i'm rambling...sorry."maybe he had taken the question a little to seriously."what about you? well, i mean you must enjoy it. after all you did just go for a swim."he said with a small laugh.
I DON'T THINK YOU'VE EVER TRIED BEING A ROLE MODEL BEFORE.
She finds this young man -- whose name she doesn't know yet -- rather amusing, but then again, she'd always looked forward to communicate with other people tonight. Plus, her energy has been replenished due to her closeness with the young man, though even because of that she has no plans of leaving the beach tonight. He had done her a favor, agreeing to walk with her and chat for a bit, so it is only fitting for her to return that favor back. If he wished to go home or be left alone, then she would nod and obey, but so far she hasn't heard such requests from the young man yet.
Curiousness being a natural thing is something Colette can agree on. Everyone is bound to have curious spirits, especially in things that excite them the most. "It is, isn't it?" She nods in agreement, looking at the young man through the corner of her eye. "Curiosity is a wonderful thing. I believe it isn't just any natural thing that exist in the psychology of humans; without curiosity, the world would be as boring as a blank sheet of paper." She frowns as she remembers the times when she was not allowed to have fun in her childhood years; she was worked to the bone by her beloved grandmother, and even if she loved her, secretly she resents Grandma a little for taking away what had been a bright world for her before. But none of that matters now; at least she's now old enough to do what she wants.
Then he suddenly asks if he were nervous, adding that he doesn't mean to be; it makes the siren chuckle heartily, shaking her head. "No, I don't think so, sir." She replies, smiling at him. "For me, I think nervousness is just as natural as curiosity, so you really have nothing to worry about. You're fine."
Colette finally receives a name to call him by; Tobias, as stated. She nods and hums in acknowledgement. "Tobias, hmm... alright then. My name is Colette, nice to meet you." She says, reaching out a hand for him to shake. If he would not take it, she would withdraw her hand and turn her eyes to see, admiring its beauty under the moon. It's only fitting that she asked him of the his opinion on the sea, and the response she gets from him is rather... interesting.
"Hmm... understandable. It's a beautiful thing of nature, no one can deny. Its dangers only make it more lovelier." She mutters to herself, and chuckles again at Tobias' apology. "Oh, you don't have to worry. I don't mind too much talking." She talks too much as well, so it's only fitting that she listen to anything he has to say... even when it's too much. Then he asks of her opinions on it as well, but she believes she's already answered that, so there is no need to repeat herself. "I love the sea, naturally. I'm a siren, so swimming in the sea is not only enjoyable, it's only natural for me to pay it a visit." She responds, turning back to the curtains of water shining beneath the moon. "It's... a part of me."
0000 words ● @tobi ● Another post for you! I'm so sorry for the long wait! ;o;
tobi nods slight agreeing with her words. it would be boring if one didn't go out and try new things once in awhile. even tobi as quiet as he was he tried something new today. he talked to people he didn't know. he liked the beach very much, but he wasn't the type to just approach someone and strike up a conversation. if anything he was very much the type to let people talk to him first. it wasn't that he didn't want to talk, it's just that he felt like he had nothing interesting to say or to start a conversation.
he chuckled softly as she called him sir. so proper, it was odd to hear someone address him in such a manner. though it was only natural when one didn't know your name, he had finally introduced himself."alright."he reassured her about his nervousness. if anyone were to make him nervous it would've been the two gentlemen they had sat with before. he really didn't want to come off as a skittish person.
he was cautious and could you blame him? tobi rarely went out and look at him now. he had packed up his things and left home. only to crash at his brother's. still he moved a pretty long distance."it's nice to meet you too colette."tobi said with a polite smile and taking her hand in his for a few seconds.
he nods at her words. there was a sort of beauty in things that couldn't be tamed. things that were left alone. he directed the question back to her and awaited her response before speaking up."do you make it a habit of swimming when it's very cold?"
I DON'T THINK YOU'VE EVER TRIED BEING A ROLE MODEL BEFORE.
Colette can still sense the nervousness in Tobi's voice as he talks, but she is glad the quality of it is reduced. She is still able to talk to him properly, still able to hear him reassure her with an "alright" for his nervousness. The siren simply nods as says this, not really saying of the matter. She could honestly care less if one gets nervous around her or not; but also, in all honesty, she doesn't have anything to say for the matter.
They introduce each other, and discover names to call each other by; Colette declares that it is nice to meet him on this fine day, offering a hand to shake. Tobi feels the same, as she knows he does, for he is too kind, and takes her hand to shake it. This makes Colette smile in turn, out of satisfaction. She not only meets a new proper acquaintance tonight (the two gentlemen back at the shore were too much in love with each other to make her bother approaching them, in all honesty), her energy has been replenished to a whole new level at this interaction, due to the social energy she has absorbed.
Colette asks for opinions about the sea and Tobias answers her with his own views; he then asks her if ever she always goes to the sea to swim. "Sometimes," She answers rather subtly. "I swim depending on the mood I am in. When hot temperatures arise, I swim either because I don't have a choice, or if I'm in the mood to. But yes, I am most comfortable when swimming in cold temperatures. That's why I come here every night, when the sea is cold."
0000 words ● @tobi ● Here, come get this horrible new post from me ;o; i hope it makes enough sense qwq
this wasn’t what he had been expecting when he stopped by here. not that there was anything wrong with it. honestly he was a bit socially awkward that the only people he really talked to were his family and other teachers at work. perhaps that what she had picked up on. in a sense he was nervous, but not because of her. he just didn’t know what to talk about or how to keep the conversation going. though right now it seemed like he wasn’t doing too bad of a job.
he was fine with silence, but he was enjoying this little talk. he was learning something new. he nodded at her words keeping quiet until she was finished. he found it less odd now that she would just go swimming. to him he would probably freeze, but it seemed like the water’s temperature didn’t matter much to her. it made sense, wanting to do certain things when one is in a particular mood. tobi had a few hobbies that he only did certain times.”that makes sense.”tobi said with another nod. it was completely off topic, but how long had he been here and there were still places where he hadn’t been to or didn’t know where they existed. maybe she could point him in the right direction. after all the main reason for coming out here was to get her a present. all this talk about the ocean was giving him ideas.”is this your only favorite spot to come to?”
I DON'T THINK YOU'VE EVER TRIED BEING A ROLE MODEL BEFORE.
The night becomes colder the more time passes, but she doesn't mind. She is accustomed to any temperature, especially the cold, and as she had said to Tobi, she prefers low temperatures from high ones. She could not help but look out at sea once more while waiting for a response from the young man; the moon glows brighter, a brilliant silver and white combined, combing the sea in its light. She wants to go back there, if only she was rude enough. But she's not rude. She stays by Tobi and talks with him, and she learns something new, with him likewise.
She hears 'that makes sense' from him, prompting her to smile. She'd told him she is a siren, so it seems to have stuck to his mind, and now he's thinking about how they work. At least, she could only assume. He then asks her if this is her only favorite place to bathe, and she shakes her head. "Oh no, far from it," She responds with a soft giggle. "I go to different beaches around Lorsette. It's easy to travel when you have too many cars and drivers in the vicinity who are willing to take you... but by chance, it's the middle of the night, and this beach was the nearest, so here I went."
Now she's telling him too much about herself. She wants to know more about him. With a slightly teasing smirk, a sudden question comes to mind. "Don't mind me asking, but do you have a girlfriend? Or boyfriend?" The sly smirk is still there, but whe has no malicious intent. "Oh no, don't get the wrong idea. I just wanted to ask since I've been wondering about it for quite a while now, and what do they think of you staying up late just to come here?" She adds, a curious look on her face as she taps her cheek with a finger.
