Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

A Drop of Whisky
Rey sat alone in the back of the bar, carefully writing out her report as she sipped whisky. Her last mission had been a bit tricky but she’d managed to resolve the situation fairly quickly. She had been dealing with a pair of brutes when a shape had zipped past her slashing her across the face and leaving her with a nasty cut. She quickly wrote a reminder on her hand to see the medics when she was done. Turns out a razor had been nearby and had been attracted to the sounds of battle. It had taken her a bit longer to finish up, but after all was said and done she was left with a few minor cuts and bruises and three large piles of dust.
A crash yanked her from her thoughts and she quickly stood to investigate. Walking towards the source of the noise, she discovered two patrons, who were quite clearly drunk, had started a fistfight. When given a small opening Renée quickly stepped between the two men and shoved them apart. Each stumbled and fell, one tripping over a broken” chair and the other crashing through a table. With an air of authority and an edge two her voice, the huntress addressed the two.
“I think you’ve both had quite enough and it is time for you to leave. Do not return until you can learn to drink responsibly.”
The bar erupted into laughter and she sighed. Of course they didn’t respect her authority, after all, she did look like a child. She was unphased by the laughter and the ensuing comments.
“Why don’t you run back to the playground sweetheart.”
“Do your parents know where you are?”
“Isn’t kindergarten still in session little one?”
The man who’d crashed through the table stood, clearly furious at her actions and charged. She activated her astral projection and her body hit the floor with a thud as she reappeared in the air behind him. Swiftly bringing her feet down, she kicked off of him into a backflip and landed in a crouch before sweeping his feet out from under him. Returning to her body, Rey jumped to her feet and flipped the second man over her shoulder as he too took a swing. Standing in the middle of a bar full of angry drunks, loyal to their friends had to be one of the stupidest things she’d done that day and she dropped into a fighting stance.
While most would believe that the strict, old-fashioned angel wasn't one for alcoholic beverages, they'd find themselves rather shocked by how wrong their assumptions would be. Just like anyone, there were times when Justus felt the need to peruse a glass of alcoholic beverages, if only to 'knock back one for her fallen comrades' rather than to get drunk or hammered. It was something that she felt she owed to them, having outlived all of her friends and comrades. Loomed with the rather glum thought, she had entered The Golden Crown bar and simply ordered a glass of whiskey. She sat on a barstool directly in the midst of the bartop, where she rested her elbows on top of the bar with her arms enclosing the glass of alcohol that she ordered. Scarlet-hued eyes peered directly at her reflection on the surface of the drink while her thoughts roamed free. [break][break] For but a fleeting moment, her elegant and refined demeanor shifted to reveal the result of her experiences and countless memories as an elderly individual: a lonely person with nary a person to reminisce with. Still, she was resolute and determined enough not to be broken down by her experiences, and a faint smile crossed into her visage moments after her thoughts. A hand moved to wrap around the cold glass before she lifted it up towards her lips, the sensation of the cold and hard glass against her pliant bottom lip felt nearly relaxing and comforting; her thoughts reverberated faintly in her mind as countless names were spelled out. The drink wasn't for herself, but for her fallen friends. A long sip emptied her glass of the beverage, the bitter taste soothing any sensations of sadness that might have survived against the face of her determined outlook in life before going down in a searing blaze down her throat. [break][break] While she had been meaning to leave right after the glass, seeing as how she wasn't necessarily that fond of alcohol, a clamorous noise caught her attention. Justus stood up from her position and straightened herself up before she turned to face the direction of the noise; drunken men were about to get in a conflict with one another. But just before she could interject and position herself between the two men, she found someone else beating her to it. A swift female positioned herself between the two fighting men and pried them apart from one another, resulting in the two being flung away from their previous position. Her speed caused Justus to hum faintly to herself, and despite her diminutive physique, she knew that the female was not a slacker-- perhaps she was stronger than herself, were she to objectively rate her fighting abilities. [break][break] Still, with age came wisdom; Justus knew what was to happen next, she easily knew that not everyone would have the same objective point of view as she was. That they'd judge the female based on her size alone; the bar was filled with rambunctious laughter, a sign that they failed to comprehend the fact that the female spoke with a reasonable thought and simply judged her based on appearances. How sad, but that was simply how drunken patrons worked. Footsteps ferried her swiftly towards the conflict, yet before she could intervene, everything escalated. The black-haired female activated some form of ability: she was a gifted. Through the same ability, she incapacitated the charging male. At the end of her agile moves, another approached and aimed to attack her. But true to Justus' expectations, the female flipped him over her shoulder and stood victorious. [break][break] Yet cliques were present, and angry drunken patrons started to stand up from their position. No more. Justus wasn't the type to let things escalate any further. If there was one thing that she was certain of: there was nothing to derive from the conflict, nothing but physical pain and regret at the end of it. Undeterred by the number of individuals that seemed to be intent on getting some form of revenge against the female that defeated their companions, Justus moved to position herself near the black-haired female. Blonde tresses trailed after her elegantly, as though a veil dancing in the wind with every movement that Justus made. It glimmered with a nearly transient light as the lights danced on every strand. Upon positioning herself near the female, Justus parted her lips and let loose of her voice. An intense voice slipped from the gaps of her lips, cutting through the air with some form of power. [break][break] '' Still your aggression. There is naught to gain from a brutish brawl. '' Her words most likely would fall to deaf ears, a sad truth that Justus believed would occur, thus leading to her sliding a hand inside the sleeve of her white dress to extract a. . .fan from within. '' Inebriation is no excuse for rash actions, '' She momentarily paused. Judging from her stance and her lack of desire to physically harm any of the patrons, she was intent on simply attempting to talk them down. Albeit she wasn't adverse to protecting both herself and everyone involved in the brawl were it to resume. '' , are you not people with ages of eighteen and above? Surely your accumulated years will whisper to you in a rush of maturity that standing down is the proper action. '' Regardless of her success, Justus shifted the focus of her sharp gaze from the drunken and angry crowd and towards the black-haired female's direction. Her eyes softened, a sign that she did not view the female as the 'aggressor' in this case. [break][break] '' You seem to be capable, miss. And I do know that my intrusion might be unneeded, '' She paused before returning her attention towards the 'horde' of drunken patrons. '' , but I'd like to resolve this matter peacefully if possible. And I do not wish to see such conflict brew simply due to inebriation and the lack of self-control. I worry for their lives and future should this little be more than enough to stifle their rationality. '' Genuine concerned dripped into Justus' words, revealing that despite not knowing a thing about the people around her, she still held a concern for them. An angelic trait, perhaps, in the most literal sense of the word. Still, judging from how the light started dancing around the fan that she held, she was prepared to subdue them were they adamant in trying to brawl. Hopefully that doesn't end up being the case.

A Drop of Whisky
Muscles tense and ready to swing at any moment, Rey surveyed her opponents. They ranged from younger people just old enough to drink to middle aged men out for an after work drink. A few other hunters were there as well, but the kept to themselves, ignoring the fight. One of the men took a step forward, clearly intent on throwing a punch when a presence settled beside her. A female voice filled the air, full of power; a voice that commanded respect. Renée watched out of the corner of her eye as the woman removed a fan from her sleeve. She took note of the item and assumed it to be a weapon in disguise.
The voice addressed her, sympathetic and kind. A peaceful resolution was always preferred, but given the occupants of the bar Rey assumed there was a miniscule chance that would ever happen. She nodded, never once taking her eyes off the crowd.
“That would, of course, be the preferred solution. Though I’m unsure if your words will reach them. I’m sure you understand that alcohol lowers the inhibitions and restricts one’s ability to think clearly. “
A few of the patrons looked around in confusion; glancing at one another to see if anyone understood what was being said. There was a pause before one of them stumbled forward, slurring his words.”
“You think you can just come in here and butt into everybody’s business, n then start with all that fancy talk nonsense. That’s not how things work here. You started a fight n now we gotta end it. Unless y’all wanna run on home with ur tails between ur legs.”
Renée made a small noise of displeasure. That was just plain insulting. Though she did generally desire talking things through, she would never back down from a fight. She moved cautiously towards her seat, never taking her eyes off the others, and grabbed her weapon from the floor. The large sword was approximately the same height as her but she had no problems using it after years of practice. Returning to her original position, she held it in front of her in a defensive stance. There were too many variables to take into account. The number of patrons, how many might be armed, who, and with what. It was better to stay on the defense for now, wait for them to swing first.
“Hope you know how to fight, cause this could get pretty ugly.”
She didn’t have to wait long. Unfazed by the large sword their opponent had, three men stepped forward and started to circle Renée and the newcomer. One of them attacked from behind while another tried to kick her legs out from under her. Thinking fast, Rey jumped in the air and dug the sword into the floor. Luckily, she was wearing her uniform still or everyone in the bar would have a good look at what was underneath the skirt she usually wore. She swung her legs out and kicked one of them before dropping to the floor and swinging the sword up and over. Swiveling to try and discourage the others from attacking.
How uncouth, truly. Despite her attempts of imploring the bar patrons to stand down, not a single drunken individual understood nor comprehended her words. Do people truly not know that violence tended to not solve anything properly? Were they truly that numb to the harsh effects and the scarring done by the two-hundred year long war? The notion of the same war that Justus participated in caused her to momentarily heave a faint sigh, nearly unnoticeable with how faint it was. And from the context of the situation, it'd seem that she was sighing due to the turn of events rather than her own thoughts. No matter, if that was how things were supposed to proceed, then what else could she do but to attempt and settle matters as swiftly as possible and with as little lasting harm as can be. Her newfound companion's statement was met with a faint smile from the angel, she was confident in her capabilities in combat. Despite her age, she had yet to grow senile and fully remembered how to fight. [break][break] Granted, her daily dosage of combat ensured that she'd never forget about such matters. But regardless, a trio of drunken patrons stepped forward-- armed with nary but their fists and their inebriated wrath. Meanwhile, the diminutive female near her approached her chair and took hold of a sword to peruse for the combat. A bit of an overkill, but if her time fighting in the chaotic war taught her something, it was that precautions were needed to be taken to the extremes. Rather than chastise her for aiming to make use of a weapon against unarmed individuals, Justus simply nodded at her out of approval. Not that she needed her approval, naturally, but it was something that she did anyway. Scarlet-hued irises observed every slightest of motions from the people nearby, and her scanning eyes enabled her to spot a group of TRS hunters that kept to themselves, clearly ignoring the commotion transpiring at hand. What sort of camaraderie was at hand? [break][break] Disapproval of the other hunters' take on the situation at hand aside, Justus shifted her focus towards the duo that charged at the sword-wielding companion near her. Before she could even think of intercepting them, she realized that she needed to do no such thing. Despite the fact that she first believed that the female's cumbersome blade would prove to be an impediment to her own movements, the female maneuvered the humongous blade as though it were a part of her own body. At that point, Justus felt confident that she'd be capable of handling anything the ruffians could throw her way. For now, she needed to focus on her part and end the ruckus as swiftly as possible. Light started to dance about her body, manipulated entirely by her own capabilities. Particles of light started to converge around the fan that she extracted from within her sleeve, forming into a long pole with a facsimile of a pointed tip at its end. It was a spear, albeit a blunt one to avoid actually harming the patrons that she simply wished to subdue. [break][break] Normally, the creation of her weapon would have been accompanied by the manifestation of her wings, albeit seeing as how she wasn't necessarily planning on decimating her enemies, she refrained from doing so. Instead, she relied on her natural capabilities of moving and accumulated experience. The third patron that didn't seem to be too enthused in attacking the sword-wielding hunter was intercepted by Justus instead. A lunge was executed by the blonde angel, resulting in an elegant trail of golden strands following after her. The lunge was preceded by her blunt spear jettisoning forth towards the male's solar plexus to forcefully knock the oxygen out of his body. Seeing as how the intent was not only to knock the target out as well as intimidate the observing drunken customers to try and prevent them from continuing with their assault, Justus did not simply leave her attack with a simple solar plexus thrust. [break][break] Through further application of strength, she lifted the male off the ground and flung him towards the floor, whereupon the light converged and formed into a binding rope that prevented him from further moving. At the end of her movements, she pressed the bottom end of her spear against the floor with her gaze panning over the crowd that had formed around them. Her lips parted once again, in hopes that perhaps they'd see to reason after a slight demonstration. '' I will ask of you once more, this time in simpler words. Stop. '' The jaded war veteran wanted no further conflicts with the same people that she wished to protect from the terrors, yet she knew both from experience and wisdom that the drunkards were unlikely to listen to reason. [break][break] '' Should you continue, however. I will make no guarantees as to what may happen. '' There was no more sense in attempting to convey her thoughts and desire to not harm them any further. Were they still intent on taking a step forward after her copious warnings already, then anyone approaching would be met with a swift spear thrust aimed at their solar plexus, or the region around the aforementioned part. Hundreds of years it may have already been, but Justus still knew how to hold her ground and bunker down on a position. Her intent was simple: to prevent any other drunken customers from approaching the black-haired female that she currently was fighting alongside of. Surely that much wouldn't be construed as an affront to her pride and honor?

A Drop of Whisky
The second attacker dashed in at the first opening he saw, swinging wildly with his fists. It was always easier fighting the Terrors; evil little things with no ood bone in their body. Humans were different though. They made the choice to be good or bad, these people were too drunk to really know what they were doing. Rey had to do her absolute best to fight them off without seriously hurting anyone. She jumped away from the attack and spun the weapon in her hand to smack the man with the flat of her blade. He staggered away before shaking himself and charging once more. She blocked a punch with her arm and then jumped as he swung a foot out, kicking off him into a backflip. The raven-haired huntress sighed in irritation. They just didn’t give up did they.
A light source appeared to her right and she glanced over momentarily to see the blonde who’d approached her was now glowing. A quick assessment of the situation told her that her companion would be fine and she turned back a second too late. Glass shattered and flew as Renée lurched back from the blow. Shaking herself from her stupor, the huntress sent a swift kick into the man’s chest and sent him flying back. A crash came from the other side of the room and she safely assumed the blonde was taking care of things there.
“I suggest you listen to her. Being intoxicated is no excuse for assault. Stand down or I will have you all arrested.”
Her statement caused them to pause and look around. They seemed to debate whether it would really be worth it or if she was actually telling the truth. After a moment they shrugged and two more stepped forward, joined seconds later by three others. The group charged the blonde and a group of three rushed Renée. Irritation got the better of her and she threw her arm out, a streak of flame following. The flame danced in her palm and she blew on it slightly. The flame grew and she held it out for all to see.
“I will not tell you again! Cease your foolish actions or I will be forced to resort to more aggressive forms of intervention!”
