Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Kiona had seen Jason go on enough missions, enough was enough. He needed a break and she'd be damned if he didn't take a break right now. Of course pitching the idea to him seemed to go on deaf ears, so she was forced to reach out, wrapping her arms around his arm, before tugging him in the opposite direction that he had meant to go. Within a few minutes, they would have walked into the The Golden Crown. She would pull him towards a table, encouraging him to sit down before going to the counter to get them some drinks. Her goal had been to get him to relax, but it seemed that she was in for one hell of a night. She had only one shot, still being sober, watching him as he sat across from her.
He is so adorable.... She thought to herself as she stared back at him. At least now he can take a break, now if only I could get him to go home and sleep it off. She couldn't help but debate on how she would go about accomplishing that, they were friends but she didn't feel comfortable being alone in his home. "Your going home to sleep, right?" She asked, testing to see if he would do just that or if he would need some extra encouragement.

It would've been like any other night like this where Jason would always go and take on missions, had it not been for his arm suddenly being grabbed by an unfamiliar person, taking him to the opposite direction as to where he was supposed to go. He could almost panic at this, only forced to watch the path he was meant to take at a distance before finally looking at the person who carried him away.
Turns out it was a medic from Unit 1 named Kiona Griffin who had dragged him off to come with her.
"K-Kiona, wait--" He almost wanted to protest, but he couldn't let go of the young woman as she guided him over to a bar -- the famous Golden Crown -- because damn was she too strong for him. Hey, he should've seen this coming. Kiona has seen him going to missions endlessly and restlessly, and even one of those usual colleagues who always remind him to rest after a break. Looks like she's had enough of his excuses, so he's taking him here for a break.
Secretly, he did want to take a break here of all places; he just didn't want to admit it.
Once they had entered the bar, he was forced to sit on one of the empty seats while Kiona went to get some drinks. And while he was quite anxious waiting around, wanting to leave this place and get back to the mission he was supposed to be doing, he didn't want to offend the medic in anyway. Plus it was his own fault for worrying her; he owed her a drink for the concern, at least.
A few more minutes and Kiona finally returns with the drinks, her sitting across him. He looks at the medic, who seems to be staring at him direct in the eyes right now; and while he found this quite unsettling, he reminded himself that it was just one of his colleagues; she was still sober enough to not be thinking about stuff.
Grabbing the glass and hesitantly drinking off some of the liquid, once she asked him a question he instinctively lowered the glass down and swallowed. It felt bitter, but still good in a way. "I... I dunno..." He began, still unsure if the answer he were to give would make her happy. "I... was thinking about doing a mission, but I think it would be nice if I got home for the night after this drink." He added, smiling at the young woman before downing another shot.
Kiona couldn't help but feel pleased that she was able to drag him along to the Golden Crown, figuring it most likely was because he was tired or because she was a female.... or both, not that the reason was all that important. Shortly after getting him to sit she had gone to the counter for some drinks before bringing them back to the table, sitting across from him. Maybe staring was a bad idea but it was the only way that she could make sure he was doing alright, or at least that is what she kept telling herself to justify her actions. Shortly after asking her question, she was pleased with his answer. "Oh?" She asked, looking away. Maybe she was worrying about him too much, surely he wouldn't be trying to ditch her just to continue working right?
She would look back towards him, But then again, he is obsessed on his missions.... so I shouldn't put it passed him. She thought to herself, a small smile forming on her lips. "I think that would be a great idea. I'll tell you what, how about I walk you home." At the time the suggestion had seemed harmless. Besides what could go wrong? She may have been only a field medic, but she was still a medic and him.... he was a hunter that needed to take a break. Surely tonight wouldn't be one of those nights where they find themselves in a sticky situation...

It took him two more sips before his second glass had already been empty. The young man blinked blearily, his head suddenly spinning, but it was nothing that bad. The strong punch of the alcohol was slowly starting to take some effect on him; the chemicals were probably taking advantage of his exhaustion. But yet, he couldn't stop himself. He reached over to the alcohol bottle and poured himself a third glass, simply observing the liquid pouring out and hitting its surface.
He hadn't felt like this before. Maybe because he was just too tired, and he really did need a break. Why hadn't he listened to his colleagues' advice before? It was certainly nice, getting to drink all day without having a care in the world at all--
Jason, by then, had almost completely forgotten that someone else was with him, sitting across the table he was forced to sit on a while ago. He turned to the green-haired woman, who started to speak once more, stating that she could take him home after this. He nodded slowly before downing the third glass, his head spinning more freely now; he should thank her later. She was the one who brought him here in the first place.
"Th-Thank you very much... I appreciate it." He said as a reply, almost about to hiccup, but he stopped himself. He then looked at her with a small smile on his face, red and starting to get drunk. "But for now, I could... could we stay here... for a little while...? The wine and alcohol's just too delicious..." He almost even begged for that, his voice almost in a whisper. Damn was he just too tired to go to that mission.
Too inexperienced to even drink alcohol, no less.
@kiona ● Okay, let me say this: I AM SO VERY SORRY FOR THIS LATE REPLY BUT HAVE JASON SUDDENLY STARTING TO GET DRUNK IN THE ALCOHOL ● 000
Kiona watched as Jason picked up the bottle and poured himself a third glass. Am I should this was really a good idea? I mean he is tired.... and now he is getting drunk too. She thought to herself, clearly worried for his well being. As soon as he had finished with the bottle, she took it and moved it farther from his reach, in hopes of keeping him from getting anymore. She had offered to take him home and he thanked her. It was times like these that she had to question if her ideas were really good ones or not. Perhaps taking him out to drink had been a pour decision on her part. To his question, she shook her head at him. No.... staying here longer would be a part idea.... She thought to herself. "Alright." She agreed, deciding there would be only one way for both to happen.
She would get stuck drinking it down so that he couldn't so that he wouldn't have to leave right away, not that he needed to know that. "Are you sure that you want to stay here longer?" She only asked because it would save her the trouble of getting drunk too. Besides, if he was ready to go, she could take him home and remain outside his place instead of going in to watch him. She had a bad feeling, at the thought of possibly going to his house if both of them became drunk. She poured her a glass from the bottle before taking small sips, hoping that she could outlast the affects of becoming drunk.

The alcohol... didn't taste like anything anymore. Once he sips on some of it, it simply passes through his tongue and through his throat without any taste at all. First he could still feel the bitterness. Second sip and he's already gotten quite used to it, but the punch was still there. It all came to the sixth sip when he couldn't taste anything much anymore. At the tenth glass it simply felt like drinking water.
It almost seems like he would pass out, but the substances running from the alcohol kept him awake. And it was a good thing; he could still talk to Kiona like normal. It's a relief to actually hear her agree to staying in this bar for a while longer... it made him quite giddy inside to spend this night all on drinking off his troubles for a while. If he ever thought about it, Kiona needed a break as well. It's probably best they were here, after all.
Ugh... I feel sick and wonderful at the same time...
It had been quiet for a more than a few minutes, him almost whining when Kiona moved the bottle of beer away from his reach. Thing is, he really needed more of it. As the young man tries to reach for the bottle from where he was sitting (he had to stand up slightly to be able to reach it just fine) he hears Kiona ask him if he really wants to stay here longer. Jason smiles at the medic and pours himself an eleventh glass.
A hiccup escapes his mouth, and he covers it with his hand swiftly once that was done, his face red in embarrassment as his wide eyes stare at Kiona, wondering if she had just seen that. He shakes his head and sighs, withdrawing his hand to continue pouring the alcohol on his glass. "Y-Yes, I-I am sure. Th-Thank you." He says, his voice slurred as he slides the bottle to the side. "Kiona... where do you take your breaks often? Do you... t-take them here...?" He asks, lazily pointing a hand at the ceiling of the building.
It's only right for him to start a conversation while they are here; she's taken the effort to take him here, after all.
@kiona ● LOL I'M LATE AGAIN. I'M SO SORRY FOR THIS INCONVENIENCE. ● 000
Kiona had tried keeping the bottle out of his reach but when he had stood up, he was able to reach for it to pour himself another glass. He had hiccuped, covering his face when his hand but when it moved, she couldn't help but feel her own cheeks going slightly pink from embarrassment. He seemed pleased that she had agreed for them to stay here longer, but couldn't help but think him drinking anymore would be a bad idea. He asked his question but before she could answer, he pointed to the ceiling, asking if she took them here. "Sometimes." She admitted, reaching for his glass, she stole it from him, drinking it down so that there wouldn't be any left for him before snatching the bottle off of the table. She held it in her hands, having it placed between her legs as she tried hiding it from his view.
I really wish I hadn't had that last drink.... I've never had this many before.... She thought to himself, determined to keep him and this bottle separated at all costs. "You look tired." She answered, trying her hardest to change the subject. "I think it would be best if I take you home now...." She answered, slightly nervous that she'd be taking him home. It hadn't been her plan to go into his house but at this rate, it seemed like she wouldn't have much choice on the matter. "Unless you wanted to stay here and not get anymore to drink." If stealing his drink hadn't been clear enough, hopefully her comment would be. Though she remained sitting, still holding that bottle hostage just in case. The last thing she wanted to do was stand up and Jason have an easier time stealing it back from her.

That one word... that one thing that came out of Kiona's mouth already serves as an answer to his question. "Sometimes". He could only nod at that, quite understanding why she only came here sometimes. Work always kept them busy, after all. No time for breaks, no time for hangouts with friends. Just work and work and work and work and nothing else, just work.
His mind is now in a confused state, but he doesn't mind it. The glass is still waiting for him to empty it.
He reaches for his glass but notices that it is nowhere to be found anymore, until his eyes graze over to where Kiona is and he feels slightly betrayed for that. A low whine escapes his mouth and he plants his face against the flat of the table, followed by a low groan. He really needed that glass. Why'd she decide to take it from him now?
Kiona speaks once more, commenting on his fatigue. The young man looks at the table, but all he sees are two glasses standing across each other at Kiona's side and no bottle of beer in sight. "Where's the... I-I'm sorry, wh-what were we talking about...?" He asks, his voice tired and uncertain and extremely slurred. Two of his fingers run through his hair and he grips tightly to them, sighing in exasperation. "I-I'm sorry, r-really out of focus today... I-I think it's probably best that we go home f-for now."
...He hiccups again, and he swats a hand across his mouth to cover it up from any more hiccups that may come to escape his mouth.
"No, no... we should go home. It's too dark outside at this time..." He shakes his head lazily and pushes himself up from the chair to stand up... only to sit back again with a tired groan. Damn it, he really drunk too much this night, huh...
@kiona ● Jason you-- Kiona just take him home ohmygoodness XD ● 000
Kiona felt pleased when she had managed to steal the glass from him. He really didn't need anymore alcohol going into his system, a worthy sacrifice if it meant that he wasn't able to consume anymore. She couldn't help but smile slightly when he laid his face against the table. So adorable. She thought to herself. She then changed the subject to his fatigue before frowning when he had started to ask, what most likely would be regarding the bottle, thankfully he had stopped himself and she found herself smiling at him once more. Now see, this is why I chose to steal your drink. How do you like those apples? She thought to herself, listening to him explain how he thought it would be best if they go home now.
Wait we? Are you wanting me to stay, or just help you get home? She thought to herself, slowly she continued smiling as she listened to him hiccup, despite his attempt to have it stop with his hand covering it. At least it was settled, she would be taking him home. She watched him stand before slowly doing so herself. She held the bottle in her hands, slowly putting her hands behind her back as to hide the bottle from sight in case he thought he could go for another round. Jason had sat back down and she slowly moved towards him, holding out her hand while the other remained behind her back. "Here. Let me help you up." She offered, figuring the faster she helped him get home, the faster she could get home and deal with her own possible hangover.

Jason felt absolutely no strength to stand up from his seat and just let Kiona take him home. Dizziness and unkempt thoughts suddenly swirl around his mind for who knows how long... the young man breathes heavily and tries to stand up again, but it still does not work; his body forces him to sit back down on the chair and silently succumb to the chemicals of the alcohol almost rendering him immobile. But it has been a long day... he needs to go home... he needs to rest--
He hears the young woman's voice again, offering him her help, offering him a hand with the other one suspiciously behind her back. At least, that's what it looks like in his blurry state of vision... he couldn't see anything more from behind her, though. It's just her smiling and reaching out a hand to take his.
Jason smiles at this and complies, taking her hand and holding it tight as he forces himself to get up from the chair. Surprisingly, it works quite well, and he is able to stand up on his own feet... but there was always a risk of stumbling back down, though. "Th-Thank you." He says in a quiet voice, a tired smile on his face.
If ever she were to swing his arm around her, he would simply give up and walk whichever direction they should be going; the young man would look around the bar as they would start to exit the Golden Crown. As regrettable as it would be, they need to go home after a long night of drinking the day off.
He just hoped their uneasy trek back home would be just as safe as they were at the bar.
@kiona ● Jason you-- Kiona just take him home ohmygoodness XD ● 000
Kiona continues smiling when Jason had accepted her hand when she offered to help him to his feet. "It is the least I can do." She answered him back, helping him swing his arm around her shoulders so that he wouldn't lose his balance as she walked with him. She would push the door open with her side, pulling him next to her before exiting the Golden Crown. She knew where his home was at so she started walking in that direction. "I'm glad you finally took a break Jason." She spoke, partly to break the silence, the other was in hopes of keeping him up even if just a little bit longer. "With how hard you work, I just don't know how you do it or why you won't take a break every now and then. You make me so worried when you do that." She spoke, believing him to be drunk, less likely to remember this conversation when he awoke from the hangover that would surely come.
It hadn't crossed her mind that he might take her words to heart, or remember this conversation. "You need to be more responsible to your body, when tired you should sleep." They had only been walking for a few minutes before his home finally was in sight. It was still a good distance away but she was sure that she'd be able to help walk him over to his front door. Maybe taking him out for drinks was a bad idea, but at least he is relaxing now.... He is so adorable. She thought to herself, with a small smile on her face.

He finally manages to stand up, according to what his brain had instructed his wobbly legs to do, all with Kiona's help, and now they are walking out of the bar as per expected of their next move. He's very sleepy, and his mind is all reduced to meaningless water... perhaps he should've spent the night asleep in bed, after all. Theodore had told him too many times about this, his sisters had reprimanded him about it... and now he has Kiona to worry more about him. Honestly, he felt bad, hoarding more and more people to watch out for his own welfare.
But... it's a job, so what more can he do?
Jason's thoughts are very uncanny today, however. As they walk out of the bar, all he could do is follow Kiona's steps. He's not accustomed to getting drunk like this, and would need some assistance if ever he ends up in this condition. His ears would practically be left closed to not let other anonymous sounds enter when he heard Kiona's voice. The young man tries perking his head up to face her, but alas, he was more than just tired and he was forced to be lazy. So he simply listened and remained guided.
She is glad for him to have finally taken a break, and expresses her worries for his welfare. Jason simply listens in, trying to take note of Kiona's words. But every time he attempts to, his mind suddenly starts pushing her words away, and there was no way he would be able to retrieve them again. In a short matter of seconds he had forgotten what else she had said to him, unless it was really important that it would stick to his mind even in this drunk condition.
Jason hasn't realized that they've finally arrived at the home he shared with Barns; only then does he know this when they stop in front of a brown door. Jason takes the liberty to reach out to the knob and open it with the remaining strength that he had. Once it was racked open. He hurriedly steps inside, dizzily trying to stand on his own front feet again. But it was not avoidable that he'd collapse again; luckily he had let go of Kiona so he won't drag her to the floor with him.
On the spot, Jason collapses again, and try as he might, he can't stand up anymore.
@kiona ● I AM-- SO SORRY FOR THIS LATE POST OHMYGOODNESS HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE I'VE SEEN THESE TWO LOVEBIRDS-- AGAIN I AM SO VERY SORRY FOR THIS INCONVENCIENCE ● 000
Kiona had helped Jason walk home, thoughts of what conversation they could have so that she could make sure that he was doing okay. In her mind, despite being thanked, getting him drunk likely had been a bad idea in the long run. At this rate, he might prove to be rather sick if she didn't hurry up and get him home. Not that he wouldn't get sick at home too, it was just if she could him home, it would be easier to take care of him. Since when did I start think about helping him at home? I wasn't planning on going inside... She thought to herself, relieved when his home became in view. He had reached out to open the door knob before walking inside, but no sooner had he gone inside that he had collapsed. "JASON!" She shouted, running inside she would reach out to try and help him up. It was strange being inside here but she would have to push herself to continue helping him until at the very least his roommate got home. "I'm going to help you to your bedroom." She whispered, "Where is it?" She asked, not wanting to risk putting him on the wrong bed.

❝
The walk home was calm, and nothing strange has happened over the course of those minutes they traversed together just to get him back home. Jason feels bad, so bad, for forcing Kiona into this situation; had he not made his stress in work evident to her, or to the rest of the TRS Agents, she never would have pressured herself to take a break which involved alcohol. But she means well, really.
However, what's done is done, and Jason does not have the ability to go back in time to change things. He appreciates her concern, as always.
He finds himself collapsing to the floor after they finally arrive at the Barns estate, the house he shared with his best friend after he generously took him in. The floor is cold, as always, but that is something the house is always known for. Theodore is not just any mortal, after all; it is only expected for the house to be just as cold as his undead soul. Plus, cold is much comfortable than the heat. He appreciates lower temperature very much.
...Or maybe it's his drunk mind rambling and not knowing what to do again.
His ears are starting to go deaf and he is not able to hear anything properly anymore (sleepy conditions always render his ears to function like this), but he could still hear Kiona's panicked scream once he plops to the floor. He could feel her hands reaching out to him again and trying to help him up; she is successful in doing so, because just as soon as she would help him up he would immediately stand from where he was. His head lazily lowers and his mind is entirely out of focus, though.
She declares that he would be taking him to his bedroom, and he almost wants to refuse. His bedroom is as messy as a place run over by a tornado, but there is nothing he can do about it but nod in agreement. He would stand up once he would be guided to do so. Kiona then asks where said bedroom is, and he hesitates for a few minutes to answer the question.
"...Second... floor." He replies in a slurred voice. Too be honest, the alcohol has long since gone and stopped affecting his speech, but his mind is still as disoriented as ever due to it. "...the doors... th-they're named. F-Finding my room... it should be easy." He adds, tired eyes almost closing themselves to sleep. But it would be rude to act that way. Especially to someone who helped his drunk self get home this night.
Kiona listened when Jason told her directions to his room, she would slowly help him walk towards the stairs being taking a step at a time as to avoid him possibly losing his balance. As soon as they made it to the second floor, she would look down the hall, trying to find the one that had his name on the door. As soon as she noticed the name, she would slowly walk that direction before opening the door to see the sudden mess. With a small sigh, she would carefully shove the stuff out of her way with her foot as she lead him to the bed before helping him sit, as she helped him lay down so that he would be comfortable. Being in his room was nerve wreaking. If it hadn't been for the fact that he was drunk and likely in process of injuring himself with her assistance, she would have stayed outside the house. "I'll get you a glass of water." She would leave his room in a sudden rush, only being able to calm her rapid heart beating when she was at the foot of the stairs as she slowly walked towards the kitchen to search out the glasses. Ever since she had laid eyes on him, she found him extremely handsome.
So being in his bedroom was somewhat unsettling. At the very least she would have liked to be in a relationship first. Of course she would have to return to his bedroom because she promised that she was going to be bringing him up a glass of water. With a small breath, she would exit the kitchen before slowly ascending up the stairs, going towards his bedroom. She would then pause at the door frame before peeking inside, once more taking a breath before going inside. She made her way across the room before sitting at the edge of the bed. She would hold the glass cup out for him, somewhat worried that he would be at risk of dropping it, so despite possible attempts to take the glass away, she would hold firm, still desiring for him to drink from it with high hopes it would help him feel somewhat better.
