Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

e'd been walking around once more, even travelling a few distances away from home again, just to calm himself down after long weeks of killing and... other tiring stuff. He'd met with Polvu once again and other members of the Assembly, the group he was once part of... so many things were going on in only weeks and now he wants to compose himself again.
The cab stopped to a halt upon arriving at the location of his area of choice; after he had paid the cab, he watched it drive off into the road they had come from before his eyes trailed over to the entrance of the Wilderness. The purple-haired man smiled softly and closed his eyes, suddenly feeling a kind of peace rush over him. He sighed and walked over to the pathway, entering the path to the Wanderer's Meadow.
What they said about the Meadow was true; the people of Lorsette didn't lie. The meadow was almost devoid of any trees in the circular field, only knee-high blades of grass surround the large field in front of him now. Some flowers grew around the grass, and he could see the shadows of small animals scurrying away from the new force they sensed. The air was blowing upon him, a soft breeze touching his air. Garret sighed again and closed his eyes. It was, indeed, a wonderful place.
He walked around the field for a bit, then sat down on a random spot once he stopped. Time to concentrate on other things now. The fae closed his eyes and let bits of his exiting him and touching the plants around him; the grass around him started to grow longer and bent and twisted in his own will.
While concentrating, he would try to make an arc around him. Just for the fun of it.
Alec stepped through the grass of the meadow, gaze wide-eyed and curious as he took in the sight. It was the first time he'd come to see it for himself. Having gotten used to traveling from city to city, he'd almost forgotten what pure nature looked like. The meadow had the same air of the woods he'd been raised in... And honestly, the cut off into the outskirts of Lorsette only added to its charm. Wearing a wide smile, Alec continued barefoot through the field, his steps almost silent as he just enjoyed the view. Seeing a small creature fleeing from nearby, he knelt down, calling it over with a soft whistle. The rabbit gave no resistance as it approached, allowing Alec to stroke his fur. Seeing the creature still looked anxious, however, he realized then that there was someone else nearby. Standing straight, Alec looked across the field, soon spotting the discoloration among the grass. There was someone sitting there. But the grass around them was... His interest piqued, he moved closer, his steps now making no sound as he approached. Seeing how the grass was being twisted and shaped, he was fascinated, only able to sit down and observe the show. He'd never had such a skill, himself, after all. Sure he could manipulate animals and sound, but manipulating nature... Honestly, he was envious.

e continues to shape the grass into an arc, or other various things he could think of. His eyes remain closed as he concentrates on both perfecting his art and contemplating about the things he had done. Killing had already become a hobby for him... random people fall victim to his crimes, save for a few people who he trusts or is fun to play with. The young man sighs, his eyes still in its closed state. If he wanted to kill, why was he startled by this, he wondered? Was it because of a sudden guilt or was it a past that suddenly lingered by?
Alexandra was found dead, Miko and Polvu nowhere to be found--
It was... painful to remember.
What if they just wanted to be with him once again, he wondered? The young man allowed himself to ponder into the past once more. They maybe just wanted to see him again... after leaving him in the forest, they must've regretted it, right? They must've wanted to end their lives before they had Polvu, right? They just wanted him back again, right--
Garret came here to have inner peace, but whenever he wanted said inner peace the most painful of memories suddenly linger by, and he could do nothing but remember them. His parents must've truly done nothing wrong... sure, leaving him alone in that forest was wrong -- at least for him -- but... there has to be a reason. Before he could know why they did that, though, he had already killed them. Erased every other memory that he had of them. He would be lying if he said he didn't regret it--
His parents were important-- He was important to them-- They wanted him back-- He was special--
"We will always love you, Garret."
His eyes began to collect tears as he opened them.
He didn't like these thoughts. Not at all.
Garret swallowed his own saliva, feeling his eyes water for a moment. Was he... really thinking about them? Then he could suddenly feel a presence from just beside him, and just as it turns out, once he whips his head to the opposite direction, a young man with long, golden hair was sitting beside him, seemingly observing him shape the plans. He stared at him, dazed for a while, before finally coming to his senses and wiping his tears with his arm.
"O-Oh... h-hello..." He greeted the other, and he hated the fact that his voice was making it evident that he was crying. Damn fucking emotions... why can't he control them that easily?! "What... what do you need?"
Though Alec had been content just watching the plant show, his expression soon feel as he glanced to the other's face, immediately taking not of the obvious sorrow. He furrowed his brows in guilt, wondering if he should quietly leave. He hadn't meant to voiyeur on an obviously private moment. At the same time, he couldn't help but wonder if he could help. Some people liked to be left alone in such moments, but some wanted to talk... It was hard to say which it would be. In the end, he remained seated when he was, the man soon taking note of his presence. "Ahh, I'm sorry! I should have said something sooner, I didn't mean to lurk like this." He apologized, bringing his hair over his shoulder to toy with the blonde locks. At the question, he shook his head. "I don't need anything, I was just watching you shape the plants. A skill like that is really cool! It must have so many uses." He commented with a grin. He didn't say anything about the tears at that moment. It was something he'd seen by mistake, so he had no right to push his questions at the man. "I'm Alec." He spoke, making his intention to hang around clear as he made himself comfortable where he was sitting, his legs unfolded in front of him. "I've never been to this meadow before, but it's very different from the rest of Lorsette, isn't it?" He spoke, his head tilted to the side in thought. He kept his conversation mostly one-sided, in case the stranger would prefer to leave. No one liked to get trapped in a conversation they didn't want to be in. "I'm really envious about the plant thing, I don't think I'd ever stop using a power like that." "Do you hang around here, often?"

t seems the blonde man had noticed him cry, and he apologized for not telling him he had been here sooner. Garret sniffs and shakes his head with a small smile. "No, no, it's fine... it's not surprise that someone else would come here, that's what I at least expected." He says, waving his two hands in front of him.
Then the young man compliments him about his plant-shaping powers, making Garret smile for a bit. "Thank you. I don't consider myself a master at it, though." He chuckled, hugging his legs. It's the first time he's ever received a compliment about his powers for a while now; mostly he'd just use them for killing off people, anyway. Garret smiles at him at his next statement. "Oh, if only you knew..." He mumbles in a low voice.
As the other introduces himself, Garret nods. "Nice to meet you. I'm Garret." Usually people would end up dead at this matter, but for once Garret's actually being nice. Plus he could feel that somehow this guy is one of his kind, or somewhat half like his kind.
"Yes, it is... somehow when I come here it brings me inner peace." He responds to Alec's compliments about the meadow. Indeed, it was a peaceful coming here, but somehow the meadow wouldn't allow it. It brings him even painful memories every time he comes here to places as quiet and beautiful as this. "I could agree with you about it being different from the rest."
Garret sighs at his next statement. "There's no need to be envious about it. I'm pretty sure you have other abilities that are much more wonderful than my plant control." He was then asked if he came here often, and he shakes his head. "No, not really... in fact, it's my first time coming here ever since I heard about it." Then he turns to Alec with a curious look. "How about you? Do you come here often yourself?"
Smiling softly as he was told that it was fine for him to be there, Alec scooted down to be sitting next to the other. He was quick to make himself comfortable in most situations, reguardless for who he was with. Naturally, this case was no different. "Ahh, that's true. This must be a pretty popular spot." He agreed, nodding to no one in particularly. "Not a master, yet, perhaps." The elf corrected with a small laugh, deciding to lay back in the grass. It felt so nice in the field, somewhat like the glade where he'd been raised. At the soft mumble, he looked over curiously, though not questioning it any further for the time being. It had seemed like quite the ominous thing to say, so he couldn't help but wonder what it was about. "Ah, nice to meet you, to!" Alec chimed, folding his arms behind his head as he looked up at the clear sky. "Inner peace... Yeah, you're right. It's very serene, here. Quiet. Kinda reminds me of home, really." He mused, then falling quiet for the moment. He hadn't been back to that forest once, since leaving. Was his mother alright..? Though his expression fell into worry for just a moment, he quickly brushed the thoughts away. He'd never thought about such things before, so why now? "Oh, well. That's true, I do have my own sort of abilities... And quite the variety of skills, if I do say so, myself." He confirmed with a chuckle, proud of the knowledge he'd collected over the years. "I could show you one of my abilities, since I kind of spied on yours~" "We have that in common, actually! This is my first time coming here. I've heard about it quite a bit, but I've only now made the trek over... "

arret nods in agreement to the blonde's statement. "Well... it's not called the Wanderer's Meadow for nothing." He says with a small smile. By now Garret's tears have finally dried, but the nostalgic feeling after coming here does not leave him. The young man sighs and looks up at the sky, hugging his legs tighter than a while ago.
"Mhmm. Just advanced. I do have other abilities rolled up my sleeve..." He grins at the blonde, but then this dissipates into a sad smile as he looks away from him again. "...Abilities you wouldn't like..." He mumbles in a quiet manner, hopefully so that the other couldn't hear him anymore.
Garret could agree to Alec's statement about the meadow. "Yes, exactly right." He quietly says with a nod. "Makes you think of other things that would try to disturb your mind, but then these sad things would eventually disappear into peace and happiness." He smiles sheepishly at the other male. "At least... that's what I think."
When Alec mentions his own abilities, Garret's eyes twinkle with curiosity, but he stays put. "Really? Can you show me then?" He asks, a grin suddenly forming through his face. "I'm pretty sure you've got so many tricks up your sleeve~"
Garret chuckles at his next statement. "Well... I guess we're pretty much the same yet different in some ways. But after all, who wouldn't want to go to a place as beautiful and wonderful as this if they feel blue?" He smiles sadly and lowers his head. "...The meadow looks like a place to run to if you have any problems. That's why I like it here."
"Wanderer's Meadow, or Wonderer's Meadow?" Alec joked lightly, considering how the peaceful spot had him continuously getting lost in his thoughts. Well, that was always happening with him, irregardless of where he was, really. He was kind of hopeless, with that. "Ohh, what kind of other abilities?" Alec asked with an interested grin towards the other man. Again, he noted the man mumbling, though unable to catch the words. He was tempted to ask what was said, though he knew it likely wasn't meant to be heard... His curiosity demanded he knew, but he soon decided it was best to respect the other's privacy. He'd already invaded his space. "Mm, that's a nice way to think of it." The Half Fae agreed with a soft nod, as his gaze wandered back to the sky. To have a place to freely ponder the things that were bothering you, until they melted away. It was a nice thought. "Ohh, are you interested?" Alec replied as he was asked to show his abilities, after all. Sitting up, he quickly made himself comfortable so that he could focus. "I do. So many tricks~" He mused with a mischievous grin in return. No mischief, today, however. Letting out a breath, Alec focused his energy on the surrounding area. Slowly, the ambient sounds of the meadow began to fade. Then the sounds of their movements. Soon, they sat in total silence, with not even the sounds of their breath. Pleased with the result, Alec smiled and glanced back towards the Faekin, then spoke, his voice ringing clear in the absolute silence. "Kind of eerie, isn't it?" Then looking back into the meadow, he called out with a soft tone. The effect was slow as his message traveled. Soon enough, the grass began to shift as critters passed through on their way towards him. Soon, there was a proper gathering of rabbits, squirrels, and birds. It probably resembled a Disney movie, really. Soundless as the rest of the meadow, they simply sat, looking to him with a curious, awaiting gaze. Grinning as it worked out the way he'd intended, he looked back to Garret, eager for his thoughts on the simple show.

he pun makes him chuckle lowly to himself; somehow it was quite fitting in itself, but Garret was pretty sure it literally just meant the same thing about the place. People come to wander here, and then wonder about things while they take in the view. However, he didn't point this out to the other; instead, he simply wipes a small tear coming out from the corner of his eye. "Haha... funny. Both titles are very true to this place, though, so technically you've made another new name for the meadow."
Alec seems to show more interest in his other abilities; he politely shakes his head and turns to look at the grass below him. "You're better off not knowing more about my other powers, sadly. They're more... dangerous." He was most likely referring to his fire manipulation, but Alec was better off not knowing about that. Alec then seems to agree to his opinion about the meadow's purpose to him, and he smiles and looks off to oblivion.
He turns to the boy once he asks if he was interested in his abilities, and he grins after. "Show me what you got~" He coos, eager to see what this young man would do. Next thing he knew, he was watching the young man close his eyes and seemingly send a message off into oblivion. Alec asks whether it was eerie or not, and Garret shakes his head in response. "No, it's not eerie at all. In fact, it's interesting to see what you have in store."
The message seems to be recieved as quickly as it was sent, and then the next thing he knew the grass seems to move towards him. Garret blinks, interest piquing into a whole new level as he watches animals emerge from the grass, heeding Alec's call. The faekin smiles as he observes the animals seemingly wanting Alec's attention.
"W-Wow." He mutters, as some of the animals turn their heads to Garret's direction, tilting their heads in interest. "You never told me you could call animals and control them to do your bidding. And trust me, that has more better uses than controlling plants."
"Dangerous... All abilities have the potential to be dangerous." Alec pointed out, chuckling. "If that's the way you choose to use them, it's nothing to be ashamed of, or avoid sharing." He continued, smiling to himself as he wondered what sort of power the other was keeping secret. Once all of the critters arrived, Alec grinned in glee at the sheer amount of them that had come. It really was just like where he'd grown up. With a small gesture of his hand, the animals broke their formation, approaching him and Garret to sniff. nibble at, or perch. Not knowing how the other might feel about massive amounts of animal attention, he made sure only a few went his way. "Control them to my bidding?" Alec repeated with a laugh as many of the critters settled in next to him or on his lap. He was pretty sure there was either a squirrel or a chipmunk hiding at the back of his neck, under his hair. "That's certainly an ominouse way to put it. Mm, but I suppose that is the case. From what I can tell, they seem happy enough to follow my lead." He mused, stroking the fur of a rabbit next to him. He was reluctant to send them back off, now. It'd been so long since he'd had such a massive gathering of little creatures. Sighing softly, he relented and did so, anyway. Steadily, the animals began returning to their earlier lives, disappearing back into the grass without a sound. Once the migration was over, there were only a few rabbits, and whatever was hiding in his hair, remaining. "I suppose it does have quite a few uses. It's rather fun, too~"

arret stays quiet once the blonde man tells him something about his abilities, and once he stops talking, Garret just nods. He doesn't really have anything to say after that statement. But all he knew, though; his powers were dangerous, and that's it. Maybe he could control them and use them for gentler purposes, but they were abilities stuck to a serial killer. Abilities and their purposes aren't different from the owner.
Telling Alec that would probably make him turn against him, though. So he kept quiet and silently watched the grass move.
He was lost in his disarrayed thoughts for a few more minutes that he didn't notice some animals that Alec had summoned had come to approach him and observe him. Garret finally takes notice once one of the squirrels start to nibble on his coat. He chuckles and gently tugs the coat off from the squirrel. "Hey, no eating my clothes, little guy." He gently reprimands the tiny animal, chuckling softly as he watches it perk it's head up to look at him, maybe glare at him. His coat wasn't animal food, sadly. He couldn't afford losing his signature clothing to such small and cute animals.
Alec speaks up again, and he smiles at him before turning to the animals. "Well, it seems that way to me." He says, petting the head of a small rabbit who approaches him shyly. "I mean, they seem to look up to you as their leader. I couldn't help but think that if you command them something, they would always follow." That really depends on how Alec would execute his ability on the creatures, though. But still, his imagination always runs wild.
The sight of seemingly happy animals following Alec's lead was rather pleasing to Garret, and he laughs. "Yes, I can totally see that."
He enjoys the company of the small animals until Alec finally sends them back to their normal lives, a few remaining by their side to linger on. Alec states that it does have some uses of its own; he nods and chuckles once he mentions it as fun. "Yes, it definitely is." He points to a small skunk rolled up in a ball just beside Alec. "I mean, just imagine these tiny animals coming to you and playing with you while you're with them. Seems like a lot of fun to me, that even a child would enjoy it."
"Mm, maybe. Though honestly, I've never been in a situation where I've needed their aid." Alec spoke, chuckling. "Since I was little, I've mostly just called them for company. Actually controlling them... Well, I'm not sure if I have the imagination for it. What could I have such little creatures even do?" He mused, then pouting some as the rabbit that had been lingering in his lap finally decided to hop back off into the grass. "--Ah! A bear came, once!" He recalled, then, looking back over to Garret with an excited grin. "I was exploring Greenland at the time. It was this huge polar bear with cubs, yet it was acting so docile from my call, like a giant puppy. I don't know if you've ever hugged a bear, I think that should be on everyone's bucket list, really. Um. Maybe the last thing on their bucket list, if they don't have any animal affinities... Worth it." He continued, laughing. "There's also been wolves, large cats... Honestly, it's kind of tricky when there's predators mixed in with all of the little animals. If I don't give the little critters a proper headstart when I'm releasing them, it can easily devolve into a bloodbath... Thankfully, that only happened once when I was little, and didn't realize." Alec spoke with a sigh, a small chipmunk poking its head out from it's hiding place at the back of his neck. "Come to think of it, there were a lot of mishaps when I was young, and still learning to use the power... There were times when the animals would come off of the spell, confused, and start attacking each other for no reason. I'm surprised I didn't stop using it, altogether. That would be traumatizing for any child, right?" He pondered, then shaking his head. "Mm, but enough rambling about that. Could you show me some more of your powers?" He asked, smiling again.

H
e could simply nod once the other claims that he hasn't called the animals to help him before, then relating to his abilities' purpose when he was a child. As he listens to Alec ramble about how he only used his abilities for his own leisure as a child, he thought he related to this situation in a way. When he was a child he always played around with his pyrokinesis himself, though he'd only get reprimanded later on for playing with such a dangerous power.
Garret nods once more and stares at the blonde man with a smile. "I could... relate in a way... I've done nothing but play with my abilities as a child." He stated with a chuckle. "Not like there was anything fun to do in the old days, anyway."
Then Alec starts rambling about various encounters with different animals, which included a polar bear and wolves and large cats, and how he could never imagine having them around the smaller creatures he attracted most attention to. For Garret, he could already picture out what would happen if big animals were to come along with Alec with the smaller ones; it would all end in bloodshed, horror... that is unless if Alec could control their temper all at once though.
Somehow... the thought of actually being able to see such a scene... would probably make his day any brighter...
He was cut off from his trance when Alec declares he is done talking, then asks if Garret could show him his abilities in turn. Garret blinked a couple of times, slightly admiring the other male's determination to know. He then sighed, standing up from where he sat on. Garret then looked back at the male and smiled sympathetically.
"Well... if you really want to know... but don't say I didn't warn you."
One snap of two fingers and a a ball of flame suddenly forms on the palm of his hand, and as he stares at the other male to see his reaction to this, he speaks again, almost grinning. "This is probably the ability that made me quite famous around the world. What do you think?"
He left a clue. Something that would probably turn the other male away from him.
But what's the use of hiding it anyway when he was the one who asked for it in the first place?
Alec grinned as the other admitted to having played around with his powers in the same manner. "Right! What can you expect a child to do, anyway? In most cases, I would think it's better for powerered children to toy around before it gets too powerful, anyway. At least then, they can learn to control it to some extent. Yeah, it's a good way to pass time-- I mean, learn! A good way to learn." When Garret agreed to show him his abilities, Alec's childish excitement showed through once more, his full attention on the other. Garret had seemed rather cautious about showing him. Was it something so dangerous? Well, most powers had the potential to be dangerous, so that wasn't doubtful. Still, to be so secretive only made his curiosity grow. He had to know, now. Watching as the man snapped his fingers to conjure a ball of flame in his palm, Alec's expression grew to one of awe and great interest, even going as far as to reach out towards the flame as if to see if it was hot. He was probably one of the only people in existence who would actually do so to satisfy their curiosity. "That's cool! --Well, actually, that's hot. Very hot, ow. But, cool!" He spoke, withdrawing his slightly burnt finger. His attention was soon distracted from the flame as the other spoke. "Hm? You're famous?" He spoke, then pausing to think hard on whether he had ever seen the man's face before. Nothing came to mind... "Do you do shows or something? How'd you get famous?"

T
he young man's statements are most agreeable; Garret could not say that Alec is wrong, as he is mostly right. Powers can be used as a very good pastime; he had done this as a child, so he can always confirm it as rather fun. He chuckles heartily once Alec stops himself and decides to rephrase his sentence. "No, no, passing time is also quite correct." He tells the other man, looking at the bonfire in his hand as it crackles and dissipates slowly. "Since I was a child, I did not understand the concepts of control. All I did was play. And I can tell you it was fun, but your parents would be there to reprimand you for playing with such a dangerous power."
But as he mentions parents, he stops, and his expression suddenly darkens. Alexandra and Miko Yakov, they who had abandoned him to die... all the remorse and guilt he felt while meditating is racked away by anger, and he is back to hating both parents once more. They don't deserve his forgiveness. They should know that by now.
He is also pulled back into reality when he notices the grass beside him starting to burn. His eyes widen as he looks at his hand burning with fire, but he simply chuckles and extinguishes it. The flame and the smoke both disappear, and he chuckles and turns to Alec with a small smile. "Interesting, isn't it? The world of fire can never be underestimated." He remembers Alec almost getting hurt by the fire. "But you should be careful around it. Not everyone can control this power, including me. So don't hurt yourself only because the curious cat has come out of the bag."
Alec then starts to ask if he's famous, and where he actually works. He has no intention of lying, but he'll let Alec assemble the pieces himself. The young man sighs and ignites the flames again, avoiding contact with the grass. "If I tell you I take people's lives, would you believe me?" He smiles rather sadly at that, but he does not turn to Alec. Suddenly the flames remind him of the house he had burned, and all anger is then again replaced with guilt.
"Would you believe me if I said I would burn down the whole world if I could?"
