Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
look over your shoulder. he wasn't sure what made him do that. he felt something and instincts kicked in. he spotted something familiar and at the same time unfamiliar. it wasn't till he heard someone scream. the rush of people as they tried to escape and look for a safe place. he sighed and remained where he stood. there was no point in running. he wouldn't have time.
why did it have to be today? his first day off in weeks. his father had finally left the house. he would always say it was a business trip. rowan didn't care. when the man was gone, rowan had a bit more freedom. he had planned to walk along the beach and if it wasn't too cold go for a swim. all he managed to do was grab an ice cream and when he started walking towards the beach. that's when it it all started to happen.
eventually he was was pulled away from his thoughts when he felt someone tugging at his arm."what?"he asked without looking at the person. "come on we have to hide."they said as they continued to tug at his arm. only did he finally look down to see it was some kid."right."he said going along. grey eyes scanned the area. he could still see people running. then the kid screamed. this time it was rowan tugging the kid away from the terror that had gotten close."don't look back. keep running."
Willow had just left home, planning on making her way towards TRS HQ. Seeing Terrors always scared the shit out of her, but there were so many people that feared the Terrors and had gone out of their way to keep the citizens safe. She wanted to be a medic like her father when she grew up. She had heard the screaming, the noise was coming from all around her. She couldn't help but feel fear overwhelm her when she realized they weren't just small groups, but hordes of Terrors from every direction. There is nowhere to hide.... It took a lot of effort to move with the other citizens as she fled from the Terrors advancing towards them. More screams could be heard as she kept moving, one happened to come from a kid that was from her left. She pushed passed people as she moved towards the noise, concerned for the kid. She hadn't expected to run into a fellow student as well, though when they came into view she saw that he was helping the kid that had screamed a few minutes prior.
It is my responsibility as the daughter of a TRS medic to help the others. Or so she kept telling herself. The Terrors were chasing after Rowan and the kid he was helping, they were all over the place. Her wings manifested, pain shot through out her body. "Hey, over here!" She forced her wings to move, trying to knock the Terrors off of their feet. Though the Terrors seemed to get their footing back, a running target verses the girl that was standing there to attack them, it was an easy choice for who to go after first. I honestly didn't think they would go right after me like this. She forced her wings to flap so that she would be in the air, one of the Terrors had reached out, cutting her wing as she was just about out of reach. The pain, shot throughout her body as she forced herself to move so that she could crash land away from the Terrors. Once she landed into the ground, the Terrors were quick to chase after her.
he had been to busy not trying to get them both killed. if not by the terrors, surely by the stampede of people that were trying to do the same as them, get away. his father kept it a secret from the family that he was working for the leader of the assembly of phantoms or at least someone who worked for them. if rowan had been by himself the creatures would surely left him alone? they wouldn't attack an ally's family would they?
only thing on his mind was to keep running. he heard shouting and it took him a few seconds as he saw her waving them down."just a couple more feet to go."he kept encouraging the kid. not only was the girl not waving, she was flying. she had managed to knock some terrors away."here, take-.."before he even had a chance to hand over the kid. she was gone.
he sighed he really didn't want to be responsible for the kid. he continued on his way for the kid."i have to go help her. she might be in trouble."he told them. the kid decided to keep running. it was the best choice. he watched the kid run out of view before rowan started his way back to where he had seen the winged girl.
it wasn't hard to find her. there was a group of terrors surrounding someone. it had to be her. he didn't see anyone flying around. he stood where he was and concentrated. he was looking at his targets. he had to get them off her. he took a deep breath and once the fire ball was burning, he threw it towards the terrors. slow another was produced and thrown their way.
Willow hadn't expected her classmate to try and hand her the kid, she was planning on using herself as bait. It seemed to work perfectly, maybe too perfectly because those damn Terrors were coming straight for her now that her wing was damaged. Just as the Terrors were about to attack a fire ball had come flying straight towards them. With them looking at the boy who had thrown it at them, she had stood up from the ground, side stepping them as another fire ball and had gone straight for them. Almost there....... She thought to herself before one of the Terrors had noticed her and started rushing forward. With a lot of effort she had dashed towards Rowan, attempting to grab his hand in hers, she kept running with the intention of dragging him along if he didn't plan on going willingly. Though she was grateful for his help, it seemed like bad idea that he had involved himself, as it had been when she had first involved herself. "You go to my school..." She answered, choosing to break the silence.
stupid. he thought to himself as he continued to hurl baseball sized fire balls towards the terrors. if he would of planned things better he could of made teleporation circles. sure it would of taken him a few minutes to make each of them and there there was the girl. how would he get to her without getting mauled by the terrors. maybe it wasn't such a great idea after all. he wasn't the best at thinking ahead. it was all about surviving the moment. he was in the moment and right now he had given the girl a chance to run. or do something other than just sit there. he couldn't fly, let alone kill one of these creatures. he hadn't encountered them till now. sure he knew these things were out here, but he's never had the luck to face one, till now.
he saw and opening and the girl came running towards him. he had just thrown the last fireball and she was lucky she had grabbed him while he still had one in his hand. while they didn't burn him, he was positive they would of burned her."do you know where you're going?"he yelled at her as soon as he caught up to her. so instead of being dragged behind her, he was running with her. here he was talking about running some where safe and what does she say. that they go to the same school."now is not the time to be asking me out. besides you're not my type."he yelled at her once more. obviously it was just a joke. he had no idea where she was going with the whole school thing. right now, school was the last thing on his mind.
Willow shrugged her shoulders, "No." She answered before breaking the silence with her comment. She rolled her eyes when he made his comment in return. "I wasn't.... Oh nevermind." She answered, now wasn't the time to argue with him about such a topic, he would figure it out later if he had believed it before he would be proven wrong about her having an interest in asking him out. "It was just a comment." She finished, turning around a building to see they seemed to be alone. "Lets go in here..." She reached her hand out and opened the door, closing it behind them.
they continued running. he wasn't sure for how long they would have to. probbly till they figured they were safe. he assumed neither of them knew how far the terrors had reached. surely they had hopefully left the terrors behind. he was still following her when they reached a building. he couldn't help but laugh."it was a joke, but yes we probably do go to the same school."he told her after stepping insidde the building.
he looked around and for the most part the building seemed to be safe. he didn't recognize where they were at. so he figured maybe she had an idea. after all she had decided to stop here of all places. or maybe it was because it was close."should we barricade the door? what's your plan?"he asked her."im rowan by the way. thanks for acting bait, but you should of taken the kid and ran."he had almost forgotten he had spotted blood on her."are you alright?"
Willow couldn't help but feel somewhat embarrassed that she hadn't realized that he had been joking with her. She couldn't help but wonder if they would be safe in here but when Rowan asked his question she nodded her head in agreement. "That would be a good idea." She answered, figuring if they barricade the door the Terrors would hopefully have less of a chance of trying to break in and get them. "Staying as far away from them as much as possible." She answered, still feeling sore from her wing being attacked earlier. "Willow and it was easier to act as bait." She answered, thought she was somewhat regretting that choice. Acting brave was so hard and it had come with a price but at least Rowan and the kid was alright, so surely in the long run it was worth it. "I'll be fine, just sore." She lied, not wishing to worry him over her injury.
he looked around the room. it seemed like it was a bit of an office. there were desks and chairs. he was glad there wasn't too many windows. they would have to barricade those as well. he started move things around. first the door. then the windows"wow, willow how long did it take you to come up with that plan."he said as he rolled his eyes and continued to push the desk towards the door."i mean. if we are going to keep running, then maybe we should find another exit. the question still remains. where are we going to run to."he could be such an ass, but this was his way of hiding the fact he had no idea what to do either.
no matter the situation. as long as someone thinks he's in control. he'd be alright. or so he'd like to think. being in charge meant he couldn't be afraid. he had to stay alert and think logically. after he got the desk to the door he started to rummage though the drawers."hey, i found a small first aid kit."he said walking towards her to hand it to her.
despite her saying she was alright. she still looked like she could use a bit of patching up."why didn't you just save yourself?"he found himself asking her all of a sudden.
Willow rolled her eyes when he asked his sarcastic question to her. "I don't see you coming up with anything that is better." She snapped, huffing she noticed there was an upstairs in this building. "I meant until TRS can kill them all off, smart ass." She wasn't planning on leaving this building, just wanted to give TRS or at the very least her dad whom she believed as a hero in her eyes, would come by and save them. Unaware with her father being a serial killer. She found herself staring at the stairs when Rowan mentioned finding a first aid kit. Rowan reached it out to her and she took it and sighed. "Because I wouldn't be able to forgive myself by standing by when I wanted to help." She gripped the first aid kit tightly in her hands. "Why didn't you just save yourself?" She redirected the question back towards him. Her healing was supposed to kick in, but it was taking somewhat longer because it was her wing mending itself back together.
he couldn't help but laugh."right. my plan was to keep running."he told her."besides, now that you shoved us in here. it was my idea to barricade the door."he told her with a haughty look. she was right though. he didn't really have a plan. it was at least a decent idea to get off the street. they were more vunerable out in the open."wow, such a potty mouth."he teased her as he moved another chair towards the already existing barricade. he sat down as there wasn't much to do. it seemed like she was fixing herself up.
he stayed quiet. he knew not all demons were considered evil. clearly she knew him from school. he mostly stuck to himself or the small group he called friends."i was saving them for a snack later."he told her with a smirk. honestly he wasn't the type to actually eat a person. he turned around, a blush creeping over his face."they attached themselves to me. i couldn't get rid of them."he told her."that's all. it's not like i went out and looked for a kid."
Willow shrugged her shoulders, "That will be a long time then." She countered, being sarcastic because she was in the mood for it. Another shrug, "Yeah I suppose your right." She answered, it had been his idea, seeing as he mentioned earlier. When he called her a potty mouth, she just rolled her eyes at him. The last thing she wanted to hear was how she shouldn't be saying any swear words and the like. Her father might not be thrilled if he found out that she swore but he wasn't here to hear it, so she didn't see the harm in holding back. She couldn't help but roll her eyes at him again, not believing him. If there was a slight chance that he planned on eating her though, she would be forced to keep her distance. When he looked away, she had moved upstairs to look around.
"I think you attached yourself to them." She countered, mostly to see if he planned on claiming again that he would eat them later. It was his fault for making such a comment, if she needed to be on her guard she wanted him to slip up again. "It's like your trying to convince me otherwise, but I think you searched them out." She was going to believe the opposite until he proved her otherwise. Besides this was payback for the joke prior and later the sarcasm that lead to her swearing at him in the first place.
now it was his turned to roll his eyes."whatever."he told her with a frown."of course, im always right."he told her with a smirk."took you long enough to realize. i figured you were a bit slow."the smirk still stuck on his face.
he laughed, maybe a bit too loud, but he laughed."don't be ridiculous. why the hell would i want some little kid attached to me. you're pretty funny. have you ever thought about becoming a comedian?"he asked her rhetorically."what did that get you excited? did you think i was going to nibble on you too?"he asked with a grin."im not a vampire little girl."he also wasn't the type of demon that ate people, but she didn't have to know that.
he frowned once more."i don't have to prove anything to you."he told her as he crossed his arms."if you keep talking they will find us. i'm not going to save you again."he told her with a nod.
Willow couldn't help but giggle when she saw his eye roll. She shook her head, "Sure you are...." She answered again, sarcastically. Perhaps agreeing with him prior had allowed it to get into his head that he was always right or something. Oh well. She rolled her eyes at him. "I am not slow...... your slow.... I'm faster than you...." She wasn't about to let him disrespect her, but why not throw speed into this as well, seeing as she did believe she got here before him. Once more she giggled at him. "Of course I'm funny and maybe I will someday...." She paused before adding, "But seriously, I bet you did." He had it coming, he was the one that gave her the attitude prior, so it was time to dish some back at him. She rolled her eyes when he brought her into it. "If I thought that... I wouldn't be in this building with you." She countered, lying because it had crossed her mind that he still might do so.
Reason why she was currently keeping her distance from him. She gasped when he basically told her to hush, "Nooooooo if they find us it would because of you." She again paused, "Unlike you, I would save you if it was necessary...." She looked away from him, That is what my dad would do anyway....
he rolled his eyes once more. honestly he couldn't reason with the girl. by the sounds of things, it's as if she wanted to start a race or something. rowan stayed quiet. the look on his face revealing his true feelings. he wouldn't continue to think the girl was nuts. no matter what he did, he would never admit that he was protecting that kid.
they continued to ramble and eventually things got serious once more. he frowned once more. he hated that she was being so nice."why?"he heard himself asking her. it's always been save yourself type of environment, well when it came to his father. he had to be number one at everything. rowan just wanted to take things easy.
the thing was, no matter how annoying this girl was being. he would save her too. it's why he went back. he wanted to know she was safe. she was safe alright and annoying him, but honestly he was glad she wasn't seriously hurt. he heard some noises outside and immediately ducked. if they were to go towards the windows, he wanted to make sure he couldn't be seen. he motioned for willow to be quiet. well, he could only hope she would.
