Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,

Between the flakes of falling snow, the usagi's silvery eyes remained transfixed on the high school as his curious thoughts continued. He enjoyed teaching in the elementary school without a second thought, but memories of his passionate art years filled his head. Wondrous memories of him discovering something of which summoned joy and assisted through the neglected years of his youth. Art was a comforter, something warm he wrapped himself in and used for the calming effects it exuded upon him; gentle and warm.
[break][break]
Portions of him wondered if other teens discovered similar comforts in the various projects provided by the school. In his class, the artistic works were aimed at enjoyment for children while additionally sprinkling in acute challenges. Though, there was something special about witnessing the manner kids viewed the world. Youth always had unique interpretations in terms of imagination and creation, it was breathtaking. While his works at times were the well-done examples to explain instruction, theirs were the imaginative, creative works many wished to view.
[break][break]
Thoughts were cut as a familiar voice managed to seep inside Isaac's head. Momentarily, his eyes flickered in astonishment before flitting to the side. There, his eyes noticed the high school art teacher, Anele. The man was a face Isaac was vaguely familiar with despite his short time at Lorsette Elementary. Their similar passions for the admired and revered subject of art summoned forth a mutual knowing and understanding of the other. Desires to teach a subject of beauty and soul was shared between them, it was a pleasant thought.
[break][break]
A smile slowly lit across Isaac's countenance as he fully turned towards the larger man. The inquiry was greeted with a gentle nod and cheery smile.
[break][break]
"Kinda, more so the differences I guess?" He began, both confirming while subtly correcting. "Our classes think so differently, you know? So that got me curious more than anything else."
[break][break]
A fleeting glance was provided to the high school, lingering for meagre moments before returning to Anele. His curiosities geared heavily towards concepts of artistic differences and interpretations between the polar age group. The youngest children inevitably would view art vastly contrasting to the older students discovered inside the high school.
[break][break]
"Anyways, I see you are done for the day. How did your day go?" The usagi asked with a grin.
[break][break]
Despite the frigid temperatures of a late winter's afternoon, Isaac was plenty willing to participate in the conversation. Oftentimes, he enjoyed the engagements he entered with the high school art teacher. The mutually discovered interests allowed for a natural flow of talking over those varying points with both parties easily adding to the discussion. It summoned a sense of comfort for the quiet in nature elementary school teacher. A simple topic he possessed knowledge in was a pleasant opening door for future topics, even those he retained lesser knowledge of.
Winter was always a cruelly frigid time in Lorsette. The dampened cold seeping through the skin and piercing bone without a shred of hesitation. Whispy white breath escaped Isaac's lips as he tentatively crossed the threshold between the warmth of Lorsette Elementary and the chilling atmosphere of winter. A hum of a sigh rumbled from his closed lips as he gazed through disorienting flakes of falling snow. The art teacher's innate preference for walking inevitably led him to these instances where frigid temperatures would swallow him whole.
[break][break]
The dark-haired man's fingers wrapped around the strap of his satchel bag. A deep breath of piercing, cold air was sucked into the depths of his lungs. Other options were nonexistent and lingering a moment longer would inevitably summon scolding for allowing the entrance of cold air. Hesitantly, Isaac stepped from the wondrous safety of the warm school and into the cold damp. Winter's cold fingers traced over his cheeks, causing the instinctive release of the strap to allow his hands to retreat to the depths of his pockets.
[break][break]
Behind him, the door closed with a click. Locked prior to his leave, Isaac recognized there would be no turning back for the heated embrace of the building. The usagi's head sunk into his jacket as he coaxed himself forward. Gradually, the dark-haired man shuffled forward, heading down the snow-laced walkway. In the dim light, flakes sparkled as they fell around him, catching in his hair and across his coat. His opinions of winter were nothing negative, rather, Isaac was neutral. The stinging cold of a chilled winter's evening failed to sway his thoughts.
[break][break]
There was beauty in every season, winter's being cold, desolate and seemingly untouchable at times. People would bundle themselves away, leaving the falling snow to rest where it needed to lie. Slowly, Isaac moved forward, eyes wandering as his bag bumped against his hip. The dark-haired man's silver optics admired the dancing snow. A distraction from the cold was pleasant given how his cheeks began stinging from the exposure. Through the front gate of Lorsette Elementary, Isaac would step onto the sidewalk. Outside the schoolyard, there were limited people, a portion being parents making efforts to return their children home.
[break][break]
Briefly, Isaac walked before changing direction. His steps were brisk, semi-hastened in an effort to avoid long-term exposure to the cold. The tapping of his feet against the sidewalk was lonesome, the steps eventually carrying past Lorsette High School. The usagi's eyes flickered over, admiring the two-story building from his position. At times, he pondered the differences in the classes. Rooms filled with excited children prepared for another art project became his world, thus the notions of antsy art-loving teens always caused curiosity.
[break][break]
Teens learned the more difficult lessons. Rarely would they consider the construction of paper plates with folded, springy arms drooping from their bodies. The difference was undeniable, yet, a natural interest for the young elementary school art teacher. It made the gears in his head churn as he gazed, feet stopping momentarily to ponder.
Never has Isaac been considered somebody with an enhanced or enchanting appearance. At a respectfully average height of 5’9”, he is neither opposing or underestimated. Although, the remainder of his body is nothing incredible. He is a slender man, with basic lean muscles, however, a limited amount compared to other people. At times, his limbs get described as willowy because of his thinner disposition. Although, Isaac holds no plans on changing this issue given his occupation; who needs muscles anyway? In complexion, Isaac leans further to the paler side of the spectrum. He is hardly capable of tanning and burns rather than tans. Meaning should Isaac be exposed to the sun too long, he would be likely to receive a sunburn with no benefits to tanning. A portion of Isaac’s minor beauty comes from his lack of blemishes for he has been spared of scars.
Perched atop Isaac’s neck is an almond-shaped face. His cheekbones are planted high upon his face, leading down to a strong jawline and pointed chin. With a petite nose, there is nothing overwhelmingly unique about Isaac’s facial structure. Although, Isaac holds some enchantment with his eyes. The glimmer of a silver colour tinged with a soft, light brown fills them. From a distance, people tend to believe his eyes are grey or silver, but upon closer inspection one can see the gentle brown inside. Occasionally, this has led to Isaac being assumed as a wraith rather than an usagi. Flowing from his head is semi-long black hair with undertones of a deep navy blue. His hair reaches around chin length with the exception of his bangs which is cut shorter.
Unremarkable is the best descriptor of Isaac’s clothing. From a young age, he preferred rather plain shirts of a casual style. Rarely will he dawn a graphic t-shirt and nowadays, even dress shirts are left out of the equation whenever possible. Depending on mood, he will switch between sweats or jeans. One notable trait about Isaac is his adoration of sweaters, especially turtlenecks. He finds them extremely comfortable, especially with the addition of a pleasant cup of tea. Frequently, Isaac prefers long-sleeves over short-sleeves when he is out in public, but when painting he will toss on an old shirt and get to work.
In rabbit form, Isaac gains a black pelt with those same striking eyes shining out. He is rather small for a rabbit, however, his fur is noted as soft to touch. At times, his ears and tail can accidentally reveal themselves. Frequently, this happens unconsciously, sometimes when Isaac is deep in thought.
Rabbit Shifting -- Advanced This makes the user capable of shifting into a rabbit form. As a usagi, Isaac can shift into a small, black rabbit form with silky form. During moments of extreme upset and uncertainty, Isaac is known for transforming into rabbit form. When transformed, his senses and speed heightens to an extreme. He can track odors and ear distant sounds perfectly, however, loud noises and putrid smells can cause stunning because of how overwhelming they become in Isaac’s rabbit form. Although, in this form, Isaac adores being pet, his ears usually pressing against his head as they pet him. He is capable of shifting in approximately 25 seconds. Should Isaac receive injuries in rabbit form, he will automatically transform back into human form.
Enhanced Speed -- Beginner The ability to enhance one's speed to make them faster than the average person. Isaac has limited control over his enhanced speed when the ability is activated. He is prone to having momentum throw him into walls or tripping over his own two feet. Hence, he prefers to avoid using it unless in a desperate situation. As a result, this ability deteriorates Isaac’s energy, forcing him into only using it for approximately 5-10 minutes.
Enhanced Jumping -- Beginner The ability to jump higher than an average person. Never has Isaac used his enhanced jumping, therefore, he rarely accesses it. Should he attempt to use this ability, Isaac would be mediocre at best. The jump height he can accomplish is only slightly above average, allowing him to perhaps best an olympian high-jumper, but hardly compared to another usagi. When using his enhanced jumping, Isaac tires quickly, making him require sleep should he attempt to use his questionable enhanced jumping. Regularly, Isaac merely avoids using the ability because of his lack of capability with it.
Earth Manipulation -- Advanced The ability to manipulate earth, allowing the user to cause the ground to shake. Oftentimes, Isaac’s earth manipulation is used for mundane purposes. He will churn the soil in his plant pots to freshen up the dirt in preparation for planting. At times Isaac will make great small holes and fill them with water to start planting his flowers of vegetables and fruit. Always, Isaac has enjoyed gardening, his earth manipulation making it an easy and fun hobby. From a fighting standpoint, Isaac skills are best described as limited and geared to defensive actions. If somebody is attempting to attack him, he could make a wall of earth to protect himself or shake the ground to catch them off guard. The latter failing should the individual possess enhanced dexterity. The maximum Isaac may accomplish from an offensive standpoint is pushing someone away with a dirt wall. This being said, Isaac cannot create or multiply dirt, however, he can take it from dust or other locations. Similarly, long instances of manipulating earth can cause exhaustion for Isaac. He is adjusted to using it sparingly while he gardens, therefore, he holds low stamina.
Naturals: Enhanced Senses
backstory
Bucksworth. A surname carrying power amidst Lorsette as a mass-scale lumber and paper company. With several tree farms under the prestigious Bucksworth moniker supplying a variety of different lumber, they gained a high wealth off the industry. The current rulers of the lumber empire were Julius and Mabel Bucksworth, a pair of strict people who came together to head the company through its most prosperous time. With their marriage quickly arrived the cultivation of their high-standing empire. They stabilized their company on a success road and shortly afterwards, they began acquiring children. A trio of children consisting of the eldest being a daughter, the second a brother and the youngest Isaac Bucksworth. The eldest daughter, their heir requiring the most delicate nurturing. Although, Julius and Mabel never excelled at expressing their attention to their other children, instead, handing them off to a nanny.
From the beginning, Isaac’s caretaker was a nanny who assisted with his upbringing. She became the mother he needed, the woman who placed the bandages on his wounds and kissed them better. Quickly, the young usagi became attached to the woman, clinging to her frequently and spending ample amounts of time with her and his brother. In their existence, the eldest child was a ghost, a figure who occasionally appeared. Meanwhile, their parents were the judges they vied for the attention of. He remembered his toddler years where every spectacular accomplishment he made was pushed aside by his parents, ignored in favour of training his older sister. Constantly, Isaac felt swept beneath the figurative carpet, meagre dust compared to the golden bar his sister was. While he received adoration from his older brother and nanny, the neglect from his parents left Isaac self-conscious.
As grade school arrived, the favouritism in their family became blatant. Unlike his sister, Isaac discovered he would be sent to public school while his sister received private schooling. The heir idolized by his parents. Placed upon a pedestal soaked in divinity and cherished in the love from future plans weaving into fruition. Through his early childhood years, Isaac was bound to feel a sense of little self-worth only built from his teachers, peers, nanny and brother. From the beginning, he was a delicate child with a head painting vivid fantasy he attempted to draw. Art was a form of escape, a passion and fortunately, a nurtured one. The nanny noticed Isaac’s love of the hobby. How he drew and painted at every opportunity. Thus she cultivated, the way a loving parent should have. She purchased him art supplies, she planned little projects and she taught him the passion he adored.
By age 7, art meant the world to Isaac as the shy boy delved a majority of his time into it. He joined the offered clubs, interrogated the art teacher to earn more skills and his favourite class became art. He adored it, and with his age came a more skillful hand as childhood clumsiness escaped his fingers. Things became more detailed, more artistic, his over-imaginative mind fueling his stunning creations and for once, he felt a sense of happiness. He felt cherished by his nanny and brother as they assisted with the flourishing of his hobby. Nonetheless, as his parents never batted an eye at him. Through the support and kindness, Isaac struggled to gain self-confidence as only a handful of people praising and caring for him. Nonetheless, he strove forward, his elementary school art teacher taking a quick liking to him. They became close, Isaac remembering those positive days.
As the youngest Bucksworth grew older, his visions of a future career came to the limelight. The company would be given to his sister while he forged his place in the wild world. Meanwhile, Isaac’s mind filled with images of being an artist or, similar to the person who supported him, an elementary school art teacher. The longer Isaac Bucksworth went through school, the more his realizations came to light. His shyness made the notion of becoming a full-blown artist a frightful thought, furthermore, his lack of parental support made him easily discouraged by criticism. For the few times Isaac had interacted with his parents enforcing perfection. Those requirements placed pressure onto Isaac’s youthful shoulders. Constantly, he stressed over school and good grades in hopes of gaining the attention of his parents.
Upon his graduation, Isaac discovered only his nanny and brother would attend his graduation. Their parents only cared about their sister, everybody else was entirely unimportant. He remembered wearing a plastic smile, celebrating his victories with his small group of family. He wanted nobody to worry, however, Isaac felt disappointed by his parents and still craved their attention. Fortunately, his brother and nanny supported him as he successfully got into university to become an art teacher. Gradually, the man balanced a part-time job and school, eventually graduating with the needed degrees. With his former teacher moving away, Isaac applied at Lorsette Elementary, becoming the art teacher for the upcoming fall. While he possessed the skills to paint gorgeous works or draw at an improved rate, Isaac hides from the possibility of fame and fortune.
How could he be good enough? His parents never batted an eye at him and ignored him a majority of the time. If he held substantial skill, they would have supported him. Those were the thoughts revolving inside of Isaac Bucksworth, haunting his mind and clinging to bones. He meant little in this world.
