Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Slender and well-toned, Princess Azalia Dahl can prove a menacing force on the battlefield. Centuries of possessing a well-maintained body, unflawed by the pregnancy or mortal wounds, has kept her strong. Lean muscles cover her graceful frame, fitting for her purposes as a head guard and keeping her free-moving without hindrance. At a tall height of 5’7”, Azalia’s graceful methods of movement accompanied by her astonishing amount of muscles leaves many gawking at the woman. Across her stomach is a washboard of abs maintained through rigorous workout sessions. Her limbs have power attributed to them and with a single, quick time swing of her katana, she can accomplish a brutal blow. Breaking conventional expectations of royalty is among her goals, therefore, she preserves her muscular body with pride.
Similarly, Azalia harbours the training scars of a warrior. Decorating her knuckles are a variety of small, thin scars formed through the training she underwent. Each, in her mind, is a reminder of everything she fought towards. These tinier scars are mediocre compared to the few she received from entering battle. Curving down from her left shoulder to her the edge of her shoulder blade is among the many. Another consists of a long, horizontal line across her calf once used to force her down. Most prominent is the pale curve on her upper thigh, closest to her hip created during the final fight in an attempt to rescue her kingdom; a reminder of her failure.
Her facial features resemble her mother, being among the few traits Azalia holds of the gentle woman who birthed her. High-rise cheek bones settled proudly on her face, creating slender cheeks beneath. The softest curve of a strong, pointed chin being a marvel for some. A petite nose with a graceful upturn. Almond shaped eyes with elegantly curled, thick lashes framing fiery brown eyes with soft golden flecks. Thin eyebrows capable of expressing emotion with subtle motion above her favoured eyes. Many think of Azalia’s mother when staring into her face, however, a single feature altered. While she wears the pure-diamond blonde shade of her mother’s genes, she long forgone the length of her wavy locks. Cut to shoulder length at the sides and longer in the back, her hair is plenty shorter than when she was a mere child. Frequently, the longer locks are bound by a black ribbon in a bow shape.
Clothing varies depending on Azalia’s mood, however, she prefers well-fitted clothes. Nothing too loose fitting or tight and restricting. With the changing times, Azalia has modernized her wardrobe to a degree. This has become stretchy leggings and oftentimes, tank tops or t-shirts together. Occasionally, she will wear shorts on extremely hot days to avoid becoming too warm. In winter, she will resort to a winter coat should the weather prevail in being cold. Around her waist is a belt that holds her sword, which is extremely dear to her. She considers her sword a dear friend, one of the few surviving relics of her kingdom. Her dragon scales are an enchanting light blue that shimmer in the light, however, these are only evident when she partially transforms. These scales are most noticeable along the back of her wings when she partially transforms to spawn them.
Dragon Shift -- Advanced The ability to shift into a dragon, however, shifting all the way could result in the user permanently becoming a feral beast. Despite her standing as a princess and therefore beauty being expected upon, Azalia is more than willing to partial shift for the perks it yields. Shifting partial allows her to boost her strength and gives her the draconian tongue needed to taste for magic. In addition, she can shift to points of her wings manifesting somewhat. Due to her subtle ineptness, she can only summon her wings to a point of allowing her to glide. When she reaches the point of summoning her wings, there are two scale deposits on her hips, her eyes are lizard-like, her tongue is long and forked and her claws become evident. The primary advantage she has with partial shifting is the betterment of her strength, although she trades any possible speed for this.
Enhanced Strength -- Mastered The ability to enhance one’s strength, allowing the user to become stronger than an average human being. As somebody once informed she could not be a fighter, Azalia prides herself in her strength. Due to her abilities, she is capable of overpowering others because of her strength. This allows her to accomplish brutal damage with her sword, giving her the strength to deliver deep gashes on her opponents. In addition, her superior strength makes her a frightful opponent in hand-to-hand combat. A well calculated attack could allow her to slam people back or even break bones should the opportunity present itself. Although, as with any abilities it holds her share of banes. Her enhanced strength gives her a massive appetite, forcing her to assure she is well-fed to use it. As she uses it, her energy depletes, making her body scream for nourishment. There is always the haunting risk of straining her muscles in addition, rendering her sore, or should she push herself too far, bed-ridden.
Pain Suppression -- Intermediate The ability to hold back painful sensations, allowing the user to effectively power through even the most devastating pain. Pain plays somewhat an important role in battle, therefore, Azalia sparingly trained her suppression. As a princess and a head guard at the time, she needed awareness of her wounds to calculate when to retreat. If the leader of the operation falls from follies with their pain suppression, then there would no longer be commands in the steady chain. For the most part, Azalia trained her pain suppression for when she would be going through medical procedures. It allows people to use less supplies on her. Otherwise, she may use it to allow herself to retreat from battle without the hinders of pain. She can use her pain suppression for around 10-15 minutes, longer if she has the energy to spare.
Water Manipulation -- Mastered The ability to manipulate water, allowing the user to move and sometimes create water. Water manipulation is frequently used as Azalia’s semi-long range combat method. Should someone leave the area her sword would cover, she will use water manipulation to remove the issue. This being said, her water manipulation is not designed for heavily long-distance fighting. She can move water into a variety of shapes, even changing the temperature to cause further damage to the individual she is fighting. Similarly, her water manipulation eats away at her energy. The more water she manipulations and the more complex the manipulation, the more energy will be eaten away from her. Creating water takes more energy than merely manipulating an existent source. If a source is provided, expanding on the amount of water it has also takes less energy.
In an obscured, long-forgotten kingdom of dragons from before the War of Traitors, Princess Azalia Dahl was born to King Elijah Dahl and his wife, Queen Marceline Dahl. The younger sister of the prince and heir to the throne, Wesley Dahl. Upon her birth, Elijah had initially wished for another son, somebody to take the mantle of Wesley’s protector similar to his own brother. Alas, she received the young Azalia Dahl, a girl born with her mother's beauty. He believed come the future, they would be wedding young Azalia off to the best found suitor. In his wife’s eyes, the traditions of old were crucial to form those tight connections with other kingdoms. Therefore at the start, Azalia Dahl was viewed as a tool for political gains in her kingdom. Somebody to be married off to the rich and powerful in hopes of gaining their favour. If only they knew how wrong they were.
But it did not matter because I will become who he needed me to be.
From the beginning, Azalia was a high-energy child more fixated on boyish games during her youth. Perhaps it was implemented for playtime with her older brother, or she merely walked the path of her true destiny, but she found herself fascinated with the games. Through her childhood, she revelled in tales of heroism and fantasies of knights. Yet, little did her story-telling mother know the emotions Azalia held towards those tails. She wanted to be no princess, but rather, the hero who picked up the sword and rode forward into battles against evildoers. Her desires to rescue those weaker than herself became an overwhelming desire. Everything she wanted revolved around the world of knighthood and wished to become a powerful warrior to protect herself and her kingdom.
Her fascination with knights only increased as the innocent young girl would berate the guards with questions. She wanted to learn and it became obvious to her father when the knights would inform him of his daughter’s inquiries. The realization dawned on him with those words accompanied by witnessing his daughter grab a stick and play fantasy. She was never designed to be a prim proper princess, but rather a rough and tough warrior. Those traits grew more prevalent with age as Azalia struggled to remain still during those “crucial” lessons. She was informed she would be a fantastic wife while her mother forced her into dresses and expected her to quietly drink tea. The women chattered and Azalia discovered herself shifting in her chair, begrudging about the lessons she would be given. She wanted to pick up a sword and learn to be a protector!
As she neared age 9, Azalia’s watched from a tea party as her brother was taught by their father. She told her mother, who was beyond wrapped up in trivial conversation, she needed to use the washroom. Once excused, the young girl slid from her seat, double checked how distracted they were before rushing over to see her father and brother. She pleaded with her father for lessons, expressing her distaste of the frivolous tea parties and noblewoman conversations. Surprise lit his father’s eyes as he remembered those consistent complaints of guards being pestered by his daughter. She was a soul that wished to learn, to fight and to become the princess nobody expected. King Elijah looked at the conversation carrying on at the table before returning to his daughter. Those words would be the ones Azalia would never forget.
”Get changed, your training starts now.”
With a broadened smile, Azalia retreated into the castle, hurrying to her room to dispel the obnoxious dress in favour of the few pants and shirts she had. Any frills to her hair were tugged out, being replaced by a black ribbon to keep her long locks from her eyes. Moments later, she returned downstairs, the flabbergasted gasps of noblewoman flanking her. She ignored them, scurrying over to her father for the upcoming lessons. She never witnessed the disappointment on her mother’s face, but she saw the pride inside the brilliant hues of her father’s eyes. A wooden sword was handed to her, and while Wesley was taught his parries and blocks with a guard, Azalia was shown the basics. It would be the first of many days where tea time would be exchanged in favour of lessons in swordplay.
Every morning, Azalia woke early for the lessons of the sword alongside her father. Her mother would watch from a distance, disappointed, but silent about her discrepancies with Azalia’s training. Nobody could fault the warrior’s soul resting inside the young girl’s heart as every shred of effort went into her swings. An opponent of grace, beauty and soft touches of class. She would become both a menace on the battlefield and a woman of high beauty among her kingdom. Although most noticed hastily how she carried herself differently than a regular princess, rather, she carried herself as a courageous warrior. By age 12 she was holding her own in weapons conversation, by 14 she was somewhat of an expert. At 16, she managed to best some of their personal guards, knights and some of the attempted suitors arranged by her mother. She cared not for the frills of princess life, carving her destiny through with her closest friend, the sword. Finally, at age 18, Azalia discovered the true purpose she wished to serve.
The tryouts for the kingdom’s head guard arrived suddenly, but upon reaching her ears, the young Azalia Dahl recognized her purpose. She pleaded with her father to allow her to try, meanwhile, sounds of her mother whining about suitors breached her ears. Complaints were registered, Azalia always despising the notion of wedding a man who seemingly thought her a prize. Each she had chased away, one even receiving a smack from a chair when he touched her without permission. Quietly, King Elijah looked between the woman, a sigh breezing through his lips as he knew one would become upset. On that day, her mother gasped as Azalia received permission to join the competition. The young princess was a powerful warrior and Elijah already knew, her spirit was untamable. Shock appeared on Azalia’s expression as she stared at Elijah, a smile eventually forming onto her lips.
With that, the tryouts came as people practiced and gathered information in regards to becoming a head guard. The young woman excelled, a well-practiced individual and the only girl in the line up. People were surprised to see the beautiful face of their young princess amidst the possible choices. Alas, she excelled, proving academically tactical in her ways of fortification and protecting the kingdom. However, she was not alone in capability, leaving a small group by the end of the tactical phase. With that, they entered a combat phase to decide the newest head guard of the kingdom. They began dividing up the fights, arranging people to duels and as she passed, people promised they would not be going easy on her. The young warrior of a princess never feared their attempts to startle her, to throw her nerves off. She would reach the crucial rank of head guard and take her position as a protector for her beloved brother. The world of being a princess never suited her, but a fighter? It fit her perfectly.
The first fight, the man underestimated her, she slipped past his guard, knocked him off his feet and pointed the edge of her sword at his throat. Victory for Azalia Dahl! The second one was smarter than his latter, giving her a genuine challenge. He refused to treat her similar to a princess, an intelligent move. She parried his defense, got unexpectedly close and hooked a leg behind that scrawny man. With a single sharp pull back of her leg, he fell and the tip of her sword pointed at a safe distance from his throat. Victory for Azalia Dahl! The sound of her name being called in the name of victory felt pleasant on the ears, however, she refused to allow arrogance to grace her. The final opponent would be among the most difficult, and she needed to prepare for a rigorous battle.
The final opponent was a brute of a man, an earth dragon determined to take the position from the weakling of a princess as she stated it. The man spoke big game and brought the force to prove it. His largeness granted him superior strength and his skill was noticed hastily by the young princess. Damages were exchanged, the man taunting, believing he would win because of her sex. Never would she forget his smug grin as he informed her “You are just meant to be some man’s wife, princess.” Anger flowed through Azalia’s veins like boiling water as she parried his sword and left a cut on him. She danced around him, evading his attacks in a silent taunt as she waited for an opportunity. He grew impatient, he charged forward like a bull and she gracefully moved aside, a matador. Her leg stuck out as she lifted her sword and delivered a sharp blow to the back of his head. Hard enough to stun, light enough to spare him from death. He slammed into the ground with a thunderous thud as she swiftly adjusted and placed the blade of her sword next to his neck.
The winner is Princess Azalia Dahl!
On that day, Azalia discovered her pride. Being the head guard of her kingdom became her entire purpose, to degrees she occasionally forgot her royal duties. Although, when those ballroom days came, she always wore her armour, dressing herself like a soldier rather than a princess. Some saps flirted with her, and when they got touchie, she taught them a lesson in respect. Things progressed similarly for centures with Azalia protecting her kingdom against many battles. She earned her stripes and place as a fighter, much to the pride of her father. Unexpectedly, the daughter he received was everything he would have desired in a second son. Brave, fierce and protective over those she loved, a true protector of those who resided in their kingdom. Alas, there were unexpected sorrows, particularly, Azalia’s disdain towards getting married. Her mother insisted she would be a good wife and informed her of the requirements many times in her random chatter. She wanted her to retire and conform to the expectations of their kingdom, but Azalia always refused.
Although, it was only a matter of time until the independent princess infuriated the wrong group of people. He was a prince, flirtatious, arrogant and entitled as he approached the infamous warrior princess. The way he walked up brought her brows down into a glare as he brought his arm over. She stepped back, avoiding it. She remembered how he laughed, how he began flirting and informing her how she would be a perfect little wife if she lost the armour. The growl that left her throat was similar to an animal as she crushed his foot and reached to slap him. He shouted at him, calling him a pig for his stupid flirting. Pride damaged, the prince retreated, tail between his legs... and the next day, he came to their walls with an army. When they attacked, the men fought and fell one by one. The walls toppled over. The castle was invaded... her mother and father killed in the action. In the midst of it all, someone pulled her aside, told her to find Wesley and run... and she did…
On that day, Azalia Dahl’s kingdom fell because of a man driven by his foolish desires. She had taken her older brother and fled, soon devoting herself to his safety. Wesley was everything he had left now... The pair became mercenaries, working through the War of Traitors, but never participating. They travelled, getting close as siblings and as the only remaining remnants of their beloved kingdom. When Zeredah rose and the Terror Response Syndicate launched into existence, Azalia ignored it. Eventually, the siblings found themselves in Lorsette in recent years, familiarizing themselves with the place. They have worked there for approximately a year helping out where needed which has occasional resulted in them fighting terrors.
