Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Pure happiness flowed through Raylan's veins upon listening to Yuri confirm the procuring of more clothes! The excitement of receiving a magnificent made a broad grin stretch across the skinwalker's face. Teeth were accidentally revealed, but it was difficult to resist considering Yuri's generosity! The tattered clothes could be thrown away and replaced with something new, which was always exciting! The skinwalker turned in the mysterious man's grip, leaning in to wrap his arms tightly around Yuri, face being snuggled into his chest.
[break][break]
Appreciation could not be expressed any better than through sudden snuggling and a toothy smile. Nobody ever displayed Raylan this intense of kindness, therefore, he could hardly speak! Most people screamed and ran away, spooking the young skinwalker into hiding himself away. Its why he hid inside the rickety hunter's cabin with filth-covered blankets and a meagre definition of warmth. Slowly, the eyeless man pulled away, staring directly at Yuri's chest with jubilee overflowing inside his veins because of the kindness.
[break][break]
"Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!" He smiled brightly at Yuri. "You're so generous... I don't know what to say."
[break][break]
A plan was made, which Raylan nodded in agreement to. As Yuri walked over to fetch his food, the young skinwalker crouched, feeling under the bed until he discovered the blue mask with black eyes. When he stood, he returned to Yuri's side, assisting with the gathering of food. Then finally, they departed to reach the mysterious man's home.

The embrace increased, Yuri seemingly refusing to release the young skinwalker from his comforting grasp. A warmth transcended over him as he experienced his destined-bound man's hug. A chest against his back, arms draped over his shoulder and locking over the front of his torso. Every second of this Raylan adored... Since losing his father, people were too frightened to lend him a loving embrace or even converse with him. Thus, this moment was meaningful to the blind skinwalker, for finally, he felt the warmth of another living creature.
[break][break]
Everything about this moment was heavenly, something straight out a fairytale, but reality. As they discussed the items, Yuri's words oddly warmed Raylan's heart. Instead of mocking him for his lack of materialistic possessions, he offered to assist with the carrying. The skinwalker's heart fluttered in a way unfamiliar to him, a smile stretching on his teeth; he forced it lip-tight to avoid him seeing those sharp teeth. He glanced up at him, honoured to had been gifted by the gods with this wonderful man he discovered.
[break][break]
"Thanks, Yuri," he said, appreciation glowing in his voice.
[break][break]
Only moments afterwards did his friend offer clothes. A gasp escaped Raylan's face, and should he had eyes, they would have widened.
[break][break]
"I get clothes?! More clothes than what I have?!" The skinwalker exclaimed, shocked.
[break][break]
After living similar to a homeless individual for centuries, Raylan rarely acquired more clothes. Rather, he wore the same squalid, ripped guards and attempted to bathe them when possible. Therefore the sheer notion of additional clothes excited the short skinwalker to no end.

Yuri. The enchanting name of the man Raylan discovered a peculiar, albeit, powerful connection to. Into every vessel of his heart, prompting a faster beating rhythm. That name was important and one he planned on forever remembering. Merely thinking about it resulted in a series of heart flutters conquering his chest. These sensations managed to summon joy in Raylan, however, he kept silent about the occurrences. While the mysterious man had agreed on them being around one another as something of destiny, Raylan wanted to avoid startling him with these emotions.
[break][break]
As he stood, feeling coldness seep from the floorboards and into his bare feet, realized dawned. Inside this cabin were items he used for survival with only a single exception; the mask. Everything else held no sentimental value or significance to the young skinwalker. He found them inside this abandoned place and used them to survive through the harshness of living alone. The question followed by arms wrapping around him caught Raylan by surprise. Immediately, his heartbeat quickened in response to Yuri's presence and his body melted against him. He could stay like this with him forever...
[break][break]
"Well... um... I don't have much to pack," Raylan confessed. "Only my food and mask."
[break][break]
Few items were required from the cabin unless Yuri wished for them to be brought along. The only things Raylan cared about was gathering his food and fetching the mask. Was it weird he lacked items to pack? The skinwalker could not be certain, but he had the suspicion people regularly had more items to take alongside them...

A rapid thumping occurred inside Raylan’s rib cage as he snuggled the stranger’s arm and confessed his feelings on the subject. In a single evening, the skinwalker felt a connection to the mysterious man, something beyond his comprehension. It was almost as though somebody wrapped a string around him and tied him to the stranger. Between them was a unique comfort, something never experienced between the many other people he associated with. There was nothing but gleeful thoughts and blissful snuggles. Red coloured Raylan’s cheeks as he hid in the man’s chest.
[break][break]
It was comfortable, having his face hidden in the stranger’s chest. A deep breath was inhaled, Raylan noticing the man’s scent and admiring it. Through flustered emotions, he managed to detect the man’s words. Hearing those heavenly arrangements of words only increased the heart flutters, the heat and redness of Raylan’s face. Gradually, he revealed his face to look towards where the voice spoke. They both believed their abrupt union on a blizzardy, winter’s eve to be a matter of destiny. As the stranger moved to sit, Raylan squeaked softly as he adjusted to follow the repositioning.
[break][break]
“O-okay,” he agreed softly before pausing. “What is your name? I’m Raylan.”
[break][break]
Finally, the young man provided his name to the mysterious stranger. Afterwards, he slowly adjusted, inching to the edge of the bed to start the… packing process. The skinwalker paused as his feet hit the cold, wooden floor. What was he supposed to pack? There were only a few items he cared about, that being the food and the mask his father gave him. Everything else? Not important. The grey-skinned young man rubbed his arm, uncertain on how to voice his problem.

Slowly, the young skinwalker leaned in, closer to the stranger he rescued from the bitterly frigid weather conditions. Closer, closer, closer. Suddenly, something wrapped around Raylan, his heart jumpstarting into a rapidly beating mess as it bashed against his sternum. Initially, the brown-haired man found himself startled, but his body eased when his sensitive nose caught the familiar scent of his patient... The man he was tending to decided to embrace him? A sweet action accomplished abruptly and unexpectantly.
[break][break]
The realization only increased the rapid rate of his heartbeat and summoned waves of blood to flood his cheeks. Red developed, consuming his cheeks and the bridge of his nose as a blush formed on Raylan's face. With the accumulation of blood in his face, a warmth formed. The skinwalker was flustered by the sweetness of the stranger's actions... he never expected anybody to treat him with this much benevolence... Most screamed and ran away because of his appearance, but this mystery man courageously wrapped his arms around him.
[break][break]
The man inquired about being assisted to eat, to which Raylan slowly nodded. Gradually, the skinwalker slithered an arm around the stranger, slipping into the bed.
[break][break]
"I... I can do that... and thank you," Raylan spoke quietly, touched by the man's actions.
[break][break]
Afterwards, Raylan laid beside him, fingers grabbing berries before searching for the stranger's mouth. He quietly fed him until sleep claimed his patient. A moment was spared to slip out of bed, berries being tucked away and more fuel added to the fire. He shortly returned, slipping in and snuggling close to his patient. The warmth between them was... comforting... soon coaxing Raylan into falling asleep. Through the evening he snuggled the stranger's arm, eventually waking up with his companion, both still in bed.
[break][break]
A smile on his face, Raylan remained in the comfort of the stranger's warmth. Between his snuggling, he heard the man's offer to come home with him. The skinwalker's heart fluttered, thoughts entering his head as he debated the circumstances. The cabin was Raylan's desolate home, but a sheltered place nonetheless. Yet, something inside screamed at him, persuading him into accepting the offer... as though he was destined to stand alongside the stranger he met the freezing eve before. The skinwalker snuggled closer, listening to the stranger's heartbeat as he contemplated.
[break][break]
"O-okay," he said softly. "... I... I feel like... I am destined to..."
[break][break]
A shade of embarrassed red encompassed Raylan's face, forcing him to hide in the stranger's chest. Why did he admit such a childish notion?!
[break][break]
"S-sorry! That is weird to say!" He squeaked out in his bashfulness.
[break][break]
Something inside insisted he should follow this stranger to the ends of the earth. The man he discovered amidst the cold of a blizzard was beyond significant... Almost as though somewhere, his brain thought there would be no life without the stranger lying in bed beside him. Silently, Raylan clung to the stranger, hoping he would not be pushed away for mentioning silly concepts like destiny...

Every step carried the blind skinwalker closer to the "trap" that awaited him at the filthy bed. The top of the berry bag was clenched between his fingers, cold seeping into them as he ventured closer. He stood beside the bed, blind eyes pointed away from the stranger he rescued. The initial time his patient witnessed his countenance, the man's heart displayed the characteristics of frightened prey... Something Raylan never wished to inflict onto a person... particularly the mysterious stranger he fetched from the frigid temperatures of a blizzard.
[break][break]
The sheer notion of being at the man's bedside summoned flutters inside the depths of his chest. Nervousness viciously grasped the bashful man's shoulders as he refused to warrant the stranger the opportunity to become fearful. The man's uncertain answers about saskatoons surprised Raylan, the empty sockets widening and every urge to glance resisted. The berries were sweet, even possessing the slightest tinge of an almond flavour. It was unique and something Raylan enjoyed munching on whenever the possibility arose.
[break][break]
When the stranger stated he was sure, all resistance deteriorated as Raylan's face locked on the mystery man. A soft smile was on the brown-haired man inched closer, approaching the bed, berries in hand as he planned on laying alongside his patient for warmth.

As the so-called nurse, Raylan was expected to care for his frozen patient and assure he would survive through the evening. Thus, he would share the berries he gathered through the autumn and stored away for the harsh winter ahead. A broad grin played across Raylan's lips as he heard about his little patient desiring something to eat. Cheerfully, the skinwalker clapped his hands before turning away to rummage through his food storage. He stopped a moment, a high-pitch noise escaping his mouth, ears listening to the noises bouncing.
[break][break]
Once his location was determined, Raylan grinned and moved forward. In the corner of the cabin's main room was a trapdoor with a large round doorknob. His hands curled around the handle and pulled it open, grey hands reaching to feel the bags of food frozen by the temperature of the ground below. There were several packages of raw flesh for the skinwalker's crucial diet, however, reserved for evenings hunting failed. Fortunately, he already had his share of raw flesh for the day. His fingers grazed the bag full of tiny, round pieces; some saskatoon berries.
[break][break]
The bag was snatched from the trapdoor storage as Raylan heard the stranger's question. He listened, closing the door, a frown on his face.
[break][break]
"I'm fine... You don't have to worry, I have been eating and I won't hurt you," Raylan said, bringing the bag of berries close to his chest. "Do you like saskatoons?"
[break][break]
The young skinwalker inquired before retreating to the bed. Steps were timed as Raylan approached, showing his guest the bag of berries. It was not a big meal, but a light snack suitable for an ill individual.
[break][break]
"And... you are sure I can lay in the bed too?"
[break][break]
Nervousness consumed Raylan's voice as he asked about joining the stranger in the bed. He wanted to assure the cold man was comfortable enough. His health came before the skinwalker's, thus, he needed to assure everything was alright.

Careful steps were taken towards the stranger's bedside, ears listening for the man's response. Hopeful flutters occurred inside of Raylan's chest, his empty sockets trained on the mysterious stranger. Gradually, the skinwalker's legs folded beneath him as he settled onto his feet and legs, hands balling into small fists that Raylan brought to his chest. He wanted to join him on the bed again, both for warmth and some other mysterious force pulling him towards the mystery man. The skinwalker inquired about it, patiently waiting for permission or denial.
[break][break]
A slight shiver riddled Raylan's body as he listened for the stranger's words. Only a few moments later did the male start with a single word, only to pause. A trepid palpitation shook the brown-haired skinwalker's chest, his face dropping as he glanced down. Seconds passed until he heard those words he dreamed of, the ones he was hoping to hear. The skinwalker's head snapped up to gaze at the voice's source. Hesitantly, a smile stretched onto his face, lip-tight to hide the rows of sharpened teeth hidden behind his lips.
[break][break]
"Thank you," Raylan whispered in a barely audible voice.
[break][break]
Happiness fluttered through his being as the skinwalker stood. He paused at the bedside, thoughts swirling for a moment before a soft 'oh' escaped his lips.
[break][break]
"Are you hungry?" Raylan asked.
[break][break]
Despite the coldness leaking into the cabin, Raylan had a crucial goal, assuring the man remained healthy. Therefore if the stranger required, the skinwalker would fetch him some berries he gathered earlier.

Aches filled Raylan's heart as he curled up on the frigid floorboards, tailed wrapped around his tiny squirrel form. The skinwalker felt like sobbing from the upsetting situation. Frightening his company was not his intention, but the stranger was startled by his horrifying appearance. Warm air drifted from the grates of the furnace, maintaining heat inside the small cabin. There were few noises made by Raylan after the situation, believing a mere chitter could displease his companion. The saddened man remained in his position, refusing to move.
[break][break]
Whistling winds eerily echoed through the cabin, resulting in Raylan quivering in fright. Through the whistles, a soft voice reached the enhanced hearing the skinwalker possessed. The squirrel's tiny ears pricked, twitching slightly. Slowly, Raylan lifted himself into a sitting position, the tiny creature glancing at the man behind him. Hesitantly, the shifted man went down on his fours, carefully approaching the stranger. From there, Raylan shifted into his original form, the tiny body growing in size until he reached his boogeyman form.
[break][break]
"Are... are you sure you want me to come back?" The skinwalker sniffled, tears nearly surfacing. "I don't want to scare you..."
[break][break]
The boogeyman remained on his fours, cold embracing his hands and knees as he waited for an answer. His patient required rest and Raylan wished to not disturb that... Thus he believed he would be retiring back to his position by the fire shortly.

Success fueled excitement as Raylan merrily realized he managed to rescue the stranger from the frigid temperatures of a brutal blizzard. The needles of snow would be unable to claim the unfortunate soul who wondered out amid the coldest weather condition. Little was the blind skinwalker aware his guest intended on resting longer to regenerate the final shreds of energy required to function fully. Thus, Raylan outed himself as being an unexpected companion in the bed with the stranger; something that would result in questioning from those of dirtier minds.
[break][break]
The skinwalker hovered over the stranger, broad, toothy grin evident on his face. A row of sharp teeth was revealed between his parted lips, a frightful sight for anybody. Then the ghoulish empty sockets with blood-like drippings from the openings would only worsen matters. He appeared similar to the man who cared for him, hence, Raylan failed to realize his boogeyman caretaker was designed to look frightful. The man answered with an 'I don't know' to his question about his health, prompting Raylan's smile to fade as he tilted his head to the side.
[break][break]
Then the explanation was provided in a single sentence. A frown dropped on Raylan's face as he glanced away, resisting the urge to tear up. He did not want people to fear him. The sounds of the man's rapid heartbeat only confirmed the truth, he was scaring him.
[break][break]
"Oh... sorry... I'll just sit near the fire," Raylan murmured.
[break][break]
Suddenly, the skinwalker's body changed, shrinking over the course of 40 seconds to become that of a squirrel. He gained brown fur, however, the empty sockets for eyes remained. A soft chitter escaped his new form's mouth as he scurried over the stranger's body, jumping off the bed. Slowly, he moved near the fire, curling up on the cold floorboards, a little disappointed. The poor, cold man did not deserve to be startled after nearly dying of hypothermia... he was foolish to sneak into that bed with him for warmth.

Quiet consumed the small cabin as Raylan tended to the frozen man he dragged inside. The sound of a crackling fire, the creaks of the cabin settling and vicious sounds of whistling wind was among the limited noises. Through the man's slumber, the skinwalker maintained the life-sustaining fire. Minutes were ticking by, concerns developing as the blind creature prayed for Thanatos' icy grip to remain at bay. A woeful sigh escaped the skinwalker's mouth, his senses pricked as he hoped to hear some semblance of a stir other than breathing.
[break][break]
Despite the crackling in the furnace, Raylan shivered slightly, eyes locking on the bed... Would it be bad if he crawled up to share the comforter? A quiet whimper escaped the brunette's lips as he slowly approached the bed. He hauled himself up, carefully crawling over the dark-haired stranger. The section of bed was unused, leaving room for the skinwalker to crawl beneath the cover. He allowed his guest to use the pillow, however, he craved precious warmth to assure he would not suffer similar consequences.
[break][break]
--------
[break][break]
Hours passed of hiding beneath the cover and tending the fire. Throughout the actions, his guest remained unconscious, resulting in worry existing on Raylan's face. Quietly, he laid beneath the covers, back turned to his guest to avoid any awkwardness developing. The skinwalker's sensitive hearing allowed him to detect the increasing heart rate, however, when the man stirred slightly, Raylan stiffened with surprise. The subtle sounds of movement on the pillow was noticed by Raylan's sensitive hearing; he saved him!
[break][break]
Slowly, the brunette sat up, glancing at the direction the stirs came from, unaware of how weary his guest was still.
[break][break]
"Do you feel better?" He inquired in a soft, sweet voice.
[break][break]
Alas, Raylan failed to remember the horrifying appearance of his face. From empty eye sockets came "tears" similar to blood streaks from the appearance of his boogeyman father. Years of solitude resulted in the skinwalker forgetting the terrifying aesthetic of his countenance.

A cold front settled in during the early hours of the evening. Wind howled loudly outside a small cabin as flakes of snow whipped through the air. The outside world was a cold, desolate place during a blizzard since animals and people were hasty to hide themselves in their homes. Perched in the Calico Forest was a tiny cabin, cramped and perhaps formerly used as a hunting shack. The walls creaked from the powerful winds, alas, the old building continued to function as a barrier between its occupant and the outside world.
[break][break]
Smoke trailed from the chimney above, the smell of burning logs in an old furnace filling the nose of the mysterious occupant. Beneath the old, dirty and ripped covers, the little skinwalker was curled up. He attempted to block the creepy noises beyond in favour of staying beneath his blanket. The thickest clothing the poor man possessed adorned his body, adding minimal heat to his small build. The abandoned cabin had been procured from the mere stumbling of a blind hunter, a miracle to say the least. All usual rituals were accomplished by the skinwalker.
[break][break]
Raw flesh was consumed to assure he would reach the quota and avoid death another day, the hunter goods were buried inside a small hole which worked as a "freezer" and finally extra food was gathered in case of emergencies. Quietly, the brunette remained beneath his covers, a soft whimpering escaping his lips as a creak echoed through the cabin. He snuggled into the old mattress, grey hand reaching for a pillow. Unlike a majority of people, the skinwalker appeared entirely different from regular people.
[break][break]
The man's skin pigment was grey-coloured, eyes a sea of darkness and teeth sharpened like a carnivore. These traits were normal for Raylan Fox, his appearance being tailored to the man who handed him life itself. Despite his blindness, he was determined to survive the situation. Fingers curled around the pillow, yanking it beneath his blanket, head resting onto it as he squeezed his eyelids closed. Slumber was desired to avoid the eerie blizzard noises, furthermore, nothing could be accomplished during these events.
[break][break]
Gradually, comfort arrived, sleep slowly arriving as he dozed. The grey-skinned man snuggled into the dirty bed, attempting to sleep. Abruptly, a loud thump echoed through the cabin as something laid against his cabin. A startled 'eep' breached Raylan's mouth as he immediately sat up, glancing at the nearest window. The frightened skinwalker quivered, a whimper rumbling in his throat. Slowly, the eyeless man allowed the blanket to fall around him, adjusting to step off the bed. Hesitantly, he moved towards the front door, hand shaking.
[break][break]
The shy brunette bit his bottom lip, fingers wrapping around the doorknob before opening. Wind blew through the door, snowflakes hitting his face similar to needles. A squeak escaped his mouth as Raylan stood at the threshold of the door. Gradually, he stepped into the deep snow, closing the door behind him. He waded through the snow, rounding the cabin, mouth releasing a high-pitch noise while delicate ears followed the bounces.
[break][break]
Echolocation was his only method of sight, therefore, Raylan used it as he walked to the back of the cabin. There, his sounds bounced off a peculiar mound of snow. A brow raised as the shivering skinwalker hurried over, reaching out to touch. His hands found somebody amidst the snow, handsome features being discovered. Worry ached the brunette's heart as he cleared the snow. From there, arms were wrapped around the stranger, enhanced strength subtly activating to allow the short skinwalker to drag the unfortunate individual.
[break][break]
Slowly, Raylan returned to the cabin's front door, leaning his unexpected company against the outer wall to open the threshold. Warmth radiated from the inside, forcing the skinwalker to move quickly in bringing the stranger inside and shutting the door. The heat encompassed them, heating the stinging flesh as Raylan attempted to warm his frigid fingers with hot air. A round of shivers entered his body, however, he slowly reached for stranger, dragging him towards the bed and carrying him onto it. The covers were thrown over the frozen man in hopes of life returning.
[break][break]
When completed, Raylan curiously stood at the stranger's bedside, ears listening to the shallow breezing and lowered heart rate. There was life inside this man... and every fiber of the skinwalker's being desired to see him live, almost as though this individual he never interacted with was crucial for his survival.
