Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
At a height of 5’11”, Adair leans slightly towards the tall side, being a meager 2” taller than the average adult male. While his height is definitely not imposing to all who witness it, the muscles hidden beneath layers of clothing are. Strict training regimen throughout his childhood were adopted, resulting in Adair being a muscular force. Across his body is a series of lean muscles, the type easily hidden by looser clothing. Abs cover his torso from the extreme training he places himself under. Every muscle in his body useful for fighting is properly trained, creating an excellently toned physique. Despite his muscular appearance, Adair is extremely graceful, the man capable of moving quickly and dexterously. Beneath a thick shroud of clothing, is pale skin from the constant covering of his complexion. There are several scars across Adair’s back and knuckles, however, the paleness of his skins makes these markings difficult to see. Each of these scars were created from both his horrendous upbringing and the occupation he used to hold. From years of working in fighting situations, Adair’s hands have become calloused from these experiences.
Facial features are rarely viewed by others, Adair refusing to allow others to see those distinguishing aspects of his body. Yet, beneath those layers is a handsome face with well-defined features. His chin is rather strong, leaning more towards the pointier side as a result. On his face, the man’s cheekbones settle high, making for a conventional type of beauty among people. The tattoo itself is approximately 2 inches long, one inch being above the eye and the other below. It has a unique design, making it a very descriptive trait which he is forced to cover up to avoid being found by the Black Order. There is something special about Adair’s eyes which tends to capture the attention of people; especially since they are the only viewable facial feature. They are a unique shade of cyan, the blues and greens making for a mixture of two colours. Occasionally, his eyes can appear more blue or green depending immensely on the room’s lighting. Short, blue hair covers his head which is well-groomed, albeit, slightly spiked since it is a natural occurrence for Adair’s hair. Usually, people are unable to see his hair colour because he keeps it hidden beneath his clothing, although, close examinations could potentially allow people to catch a glimpse.
Normal clothes do not exist in Adair’s wardrobe since he only wears attire which hides his body and keeps him hidden. A toque-like hat covers his hair, being lowered as close as possible to his eyes without obscuring any sight. Covering his mouth is a bandana, the bandana reaching up high to cover his nose, ears and the back of his neck. Wrapped around his shoulders is usually a specialized cloak, one being a dark blue while another is a dark red to represent the TRS. Beneath, he wears loose-fitting black shirts, his TRS addition one being accenting with red. The back of the shirt saying “TRS Hunting Division” while a name tag on the chest says “Amon, Unit 1”. Sometimes, he will wear short sleeves and wrap bandages around his arms than accomplish similarly with his legs in hopes of keeping himself rather cool. He wears black gloves on his hands at all times to avoid people recognizing them. When it comes to footwear, he prefers lightweight shoes which allow him to move around quickly.
Spider Shifting -- Beginner The ability to a spider, with some size varies depending on the user’s desire. Since Adair is a jorogumo, he can also transform the lower half of his body to be similar to the bottom half a spider. For Adair, the spider he can transform into is a Brazilian Wandering Spider, which is a very lethal spider. Unfortunately, Adair’s transformation skills are poor, and while he can still summon his venom, he fails in transforming. Should he try, he can transform very quickly, but a majority of the time it is extremely taxing on his body since everything needs to shrink to become smaller. The full shifting was never practiced because Adair feels more vulnerable in spider form, thus instead he learned to only summon his fangs to get the venom. He can access a deadly type of neurotoxin which will paralyze in higher dosages, which can reach lengths of causing breathing problems and asphyxiation. Other symptoms can include sweating, swelling, excessive drooling/salvation, hypertension, muscle twitching, tachycardia, agitation, vomiting.
On average, the size of Adair at the size of a regular Brazilian Wandering Spider, he has a leg span of roughly 5.8 inches and a body length of 1.8 inches. His body is a greyish-brown colour, usually of a darker shade with the area around the spider’s leg joints being lighter. The jaws are covered in small, red hairs which make it look red compared to the remainder of his body.
Poison Manipulation -- Mastered The ability to manipulate poisons in whatever form, allowing the user to move the poisonous liquids and decrease or increase the potency. There is a variation in ability depending on what the user can possibly do. This ability also allows the person to remove poisons from an individual’s body. Poisons are a familiar territory for the former assassins, thus Adair started with teaching himself poison manipulation. As a result, he is extremely skillful with using poison manipulation. Unfortunately, Adair cannot merely create poison out of nowhere and insteads needs to convert his blood into poison. Doing this in to heavy of a dosage could result in Adair’s death due to a lack of proper blood flow, thus he needs to be cautious. He can only convert his own blood. Stamina is high when using this ability, but should Adair be exhausted, he can have difficulties controlling the poison.
Wall Crawling -- Advanced The ability to crawl on walls, the user being able to defy gravity and climb flat surfaces with ease. Climbing up walls or briefly running across them proves to be extremely easy for Adair since he intertwined it with his parkour skills. Smoothly, he can crawl across surfaces, no matter how coarse or smooth they may be. Oftentimes, Adair’s wall crawling is used instinctively when coming into contact with a wall, allowing him to avoid harsh falls on some occasion. In moments where Adair is claimed by exhaustion, his wall crawling could become delayed or fail from lack of energy. While Adair can climb on walls easily, he can still be physically uprooted by others during his climbing.
Enhanced Speed -- Advanced The ability to access speed beyond that of an average human, allowing the user to go extremely fast with little to no consequence. Speed always felt necessary for Adair when he worked in assassination, thus he picked up on the skill incredibly fast. He can move at intense speed, allowing him to overwhelm other people with the quickness of his attacks. Dodging became easier as Adair’s reaction times sharpened, the jorogumo’s speed granting him an inhuman reaction time. As a result, Adair can be extremely difficult to hit if he desires to use his speeds to these extreme lengths. Unfortunately, there are consequences for over-using his abilities, most specifically being exhaustion of his body. Using his enhanced speed for hours can tire Adair out easily, meaning he is unable to run forever. Furthermore, intense use can result in soreness and stiffness occurring in Adair’s muscles which will require him to rest.
Web Creation -- Advanced The ability to create webs, allowing the user to sling them and potentially swing from them, use them as ropes, etc. After being transformed into a jorogumo, Adair became curious about the ability to manifest webs. As a result, Adair became extremely skillful in the art of creating webs and swinging from them. He can shoot them from his hands, even retracting them to work as a “rope” to carry him to high places. Notoriously, Adair is known for using his webs similar to ropes, wrapping it around them with little effort. While Adair’s webs are by no means the strongest due to his breed of spider, he is still capable of creating a powerful spider silk. These webs can be created to be sticky or not, giving him plenty of options to use. Despite the powerful nature of spider silk, Adair’s webs are still extremely vulnerable to flames, meaning they can easily be burnt through.
Night Vision -- Natural The ability to see perfectly in both natural and unnatural darkness, allowing the individual to see similarly as if it is daylight. Unlike Adair’s other abilities, night vision has been affected by his cursed eye, making it difficult to use properly. The cursed eye (right), is unable to use the night vision, forcing it to maintains sight of a regular human’s have while the left thoroughly works. This can occasionally get slight disorienting in situations of sudden darkness or strobing lights, most specifically lights since they tend to hurt his eyes.
Trigger Warnings: Torture (includes: mild description of torture room), violence, murder, waterboarding, kidnapping, death
In the middle of the night during a thunderstorm, the sounds of shattering glass echoed through the temporary home of two infants. The wails of one being calmed by a young mother as she feared the worse. When she rushed into the bedroom, heart racing and worry on her face as she realized the nursery window was broken. Devastation manifested as realization slammed into her like a sledgehammer. Two empty cribs, yet, only a single child cradled in her arms, an evening of concerns and endless sorrow to haunt them through their years.
The Fellsparks are a proud family, bound to their jobs and expected to complete each task with the utmost efficiency and greatness. Wealth and perfection were natural for the Fellsparks, their underground ties allowing for them to accumulate money. Generations would follow a similar path, thus from a young age, Elton and Jennette Fellspark had their son, Adair’s life was placed permanently destiny. The Fellsparks were renown in the criminal world as assassins and their association was with a group known as the Black Order. Cruelness, misery and ruthless actions were the world of the Black Order. From the instant Adair could walk, his parents endorsed quick developments, desiring for their young son to begin training as soon as possible. The first years of Adair’s life were interesting, the young kid oftentimes seeing his parents, but also flashing images in his right eye, displaying an entirely different life. These instances would randomly appear, blocking sight in his right eye until disappearing and allowing him to see. Due to being born with the problem, the young child believed it was a normal occurrence.
From the age of five, Adair began noticing how his father was supposedly searching for somebody since he would leave for long hours before returning, speaking to his mother. I didn’t find him. A common phrase whenever he came home, Adair cocking his head and constantly inquiring about him, but they refused to answer. They would merely inform him to focus on his studies or train. From the start Adair was homeschooled, his parents desiring to keep him indoors as they schooled him. Their decision was to show him the world through another method, through the teaching of the various locations and allowing social interaction with the children of other criminal families. The children of these families oftentimes spoke about how they could go outside and explore, however, Adair was clueless to these mysterious adventures. When he was warranted time outside the protective walls of their home, it was brief moments before he would be ushered inside by his parents. In winter when the youth was covered up, they would allow longer periods of wandering about, but these were always cut short from the cold. Unlike the other children, he seemed sheltered from the prying eyes of strangers, especially any law enforcement who entered the area.
Education was an interesting notion for the blue-haired youth, English lessons being provided very quickly, particularly descriptive writing. These lessons went above his head, anything to do with writing becoming seemingly rushed compared to mathematics, science, history and physical education. Around this peculiar time was when that curious question would be asked whenever his right eye suddenly began acting up, revealing a viewpoint which never belonged to him. The child would stiffen, gasping in surprise as the vision in his right eye disappeared and instead seemed to belong to a different body. What do you see?! What do you see?! Describe it, Adair! Those were the words which always left his parents’ lips whenever they noticed the telltale signs of his right eye acting strangely. Each time, the child would attempt to describe the strange room, however, never provided enough substance for his parents to work with. They would always get disappointed and give an exaggerated sigh of annoyance. Guilt always sparked when young Adair witnessed these actions, for he wondered if he wronged his parents through failing to adequately describe the room.
Hell manifested from their family when Adair became 7, his parents guiding him to a special building during the evenings. There were other children there, a majority around his age, but some older than himself. When he was brought there, Adair remembered being the youngest, his peers seemingly surprised his parents were already bringing him. Confusion shone in his eyes as the young boy glanced around, unable to understand why his parents brought him to this location. They ushered him forward, placing him in front of a woman with many scars and a stern expression on her face. Adair, these are special lessons we signed you up for. Those were the words his parents used to inform him, the young boy glancing at them with wide, concerned eyes. For years they hardly allowed him freedom from the house, but suddenly were planning to take him to here for special lessons? Unfortunately, these lessons would be physically strenuous as the woman shouted run, Adair being taken aback and inching closer to his parents. They pushed him away, told him he needed to run with the other students until he was told to stop by the maimed lady.
The young boy flinched but obeyed the command. Initially, everything was alright, however, Adair was lagging behind everyone. He attempted to speed up, but nothing appeared to get him caught up with the other students. They ran for a long time, the young boy slowing down as he tired, but the condemning eyes of the teacher locked on him. YOU KEEP RUNNING! The loud words were frightening, thus Adair obeyed the command, running until his lungs burned with exhaustion and his legs ached from the true test of endurance. When he was finally informed he could cease the action, he crumbled to his knees, attempting to desperately catch his breath. Casually, his parents approached with a smile on their lips, informing him he would enjoy these special lessons despite his pleas to leave and never return. They fell upon deaf ears, his parents leaving him in the rigorous training program. At first, he would get upset whenever his parents informed him it was time for his special lessons, but they never comforted him anymore. They would punish him should he cry, complain or even gently ask if he could remain in the safety of their home.
Gradually, the training became easier as Adair’s body grew stronger. However, these developments resulted in longer and more difficult lessons being given to the young boy. Every day was a struggle, the boy being forced to stick to the intense training regiment. Throughout the training, Adair would falter because of the curse which stole a portion of his eyesight, essentially making him half blind. Whenever he failed, his parents would get upset despite explanations his eyes was acting up. Disappointed became an overbearing thought in Adair’s mind, thus he made a vow. He would train harder, make himself stronger and prove to be the best. Spare time was spent extensively training, Adair becoming determined to improve in these unexpected additional classes. At a vulnerable age, the young boy became stronger, lean muscles forming as days of practicing passed. Eventually, he began surpassing students despite his younger age, Adair desiring success to remove the disappointing.
Two years of precious training eventually led to the mentors assuring the student’s loyalty would stay. Everything was explained, Adair finding himself surprised that after all these years, this would be the occupation he joined. Welcome to the Black Order, students. For these years, you have been trained to become weapons for the order, and keep in mind traitors will be punished. You will be given missions to dispose of people who cause the Black Order problems. Everything revolved around death, weapons being shoved into their hands and expectations increasing. Hard work would be rewarded, thus Adair worked strenuously in his work, putting plenty of effort in to make up for his faulty eye. While there were anxieties about ending another person’s life, Adair proceeded to work hard. Everything in his life built him for this single purpose and there was nothing to fallback on. As the training continued, he only became more numb as the leaders prepared their… examples…
Approximately a month after becoming privy to the Black Order’s true intentions, the group of students were gathered into a room. Inside was a variety of strange mechanisms, including a trough filled with water, ropes, handcuffs, razor blades, whips and a variety of other restraints and weaponry. There was a person in the center, a man with thick racial hair and dirt covering his body. Blood was evident, scratches across the man’s tanned skin from the constant abuse. The stranger was shirtless, displaying the massive array of injuries. The young boys eyes widened, a mentor picking up the whip and hitting the man’s back; he screamed in response. Traitors will receive worst treatment than these spies. They were forced to witness as the man was dragged towards the trough, his struggle as he shrieked for mercy filled their ears. The man was leaned over the side, the mentors slamming his head into the depths of the water, yet, they never let him die.
Coughs rang out each time they allowed him to breath. They would proceed to cut into his flesh, forcing their students to witness these abhorrent events. They desired loyalty from their newest recruits, thus they displayed the alternative for traitors. Adair was horrified as he watched, the boy finally understanding the gravity of the situation. Fear filled Adair as he witnessed these actions, realization dawned on him. There was no escape, and he would be expected to carry out these actions despite his emotions towards it. The horrifying reality which firmly grasped him would envelope him forever, Adair being a victim to these expectations. Eventually, the torturing came to a close, the man crying from the horrible things which happened to him. Now, you best be loyal, got it? They all nodded, words caught in their throats from the horrific display their mentors decided to show them. None of them wanted to betray the Black Order since they were all terrified of the consequences.
Years passed slowly, Adair remembering the torture room vividly, his eyes wandering past whenever he was forced to walk by. Each time, they listened to the screams, the reminders of their demise should they chose to betray; it was a psychological torture for them. Alas, one of those days, Adair’s parents demanded their son be taken to the training area through a different route, but it was never their son’s request. At the time, Adair was 16 and well-adjusted to the horrifying sounds which erupted through the door, and being treated differently made him curious. When training closed, the stealthy young man crept through the hallways of training center, curiosity driving him back to that room. Why were they refusing to allow him near? He pressed up against the wall, ear against the door, his expressions unwavering as the usual sounds of interrogation were heard alongside the screams of a man and a woman. Carefully, Adair pushed the door open a crack, eyes widening when they locked on the woman. She looked similar to him.
Suddenly, the young man could not remove his eyes, unable to believe he could find someone that looked so incredibly similar to himself. When her eyes glanced towards the door, their gazes met, Adair’s heart skipping a nervous beat as her’s widened. Adair? The name left her name lips, the young man’s eyes widening when the woman recognized him. There were words which left his parent’s mouth, Adair shaking as they forced him to leave the room, before closing it again. The man sat outside the torture room, waiting until his parents left the room to ask a variety of questions about the mysterious woman. However, his parents refused to answer, making excuses for the reason. Alas, Adair proceeded to pester them about the incident, his endless concerns about the woman fueling the need to inquire about her. In the end, his parents became infuriated by his questions and yelled at him, stating that asking again would result in punishment, thus, Adair went silent about the woman.
Months after the incident, Adair was considered a graduate of the Black Order’s studies, resulting in him finally receiving missions. At the time, the young teen was a cold-blooded assassin trained in the arts of killing. Pride became evident in his parent’s expression, both believing their son transforming into a murderous monster was an excellent achievement. Conflicting emotions became common for Adair since despite his lack of hesitance towards killing other people, he always wondered how amoral these actions were. People would mourn these people, especially if the mission in question involved villainous intentions on a completely innocent man. They would beg for their lives, but Adair became numb to the idea, merely proceeding with his job, until he met her…
He remembered that evening where everything went absolutely wrong. Narrowly, Adair managed to kill his targets, but the assassin was horribly wounded in the process. The blue-haired man was slumped against a wall in a dark alleyway, dressed in suspicious clothing and bleeding. The pain was intense, Adair believing death was inevitable until a dark-haired woman approached. Her delicate hands hovered over his wounds, the gaping wounds closing from the woman’s healing abilities. She took him into her home, assisted others his entire recovery, yet, he was merely a stranger. When he gained the chance, he asked her why. Why? You’re a person, I can’t just leave you to die. The words were stunning, Adair’s eyes widening in surprise when she stated such a notion. After being injured, Adair remained hidden from the order, speaking with this woman who taught him the things he never imagined to learn; morals. As their conversations proceeded, Adair found himself attempting to avoid his Black Order work in favour of spending time with her.
Eventually, they grew extremely close and began secretly dating, the young man enjoying her company. He was 18 and has never experienced these incredible emotions, the woman successfully riding him of the numbness which claimed his years ago. They did everything they could together, their secret relationship growing more powerful with each passing day. Everything was fantastic until paradise came crashing down around them. The constant avoidance of his Black Order duties put his loyalty into question, Adair’s parents following him. They discovered the woman corrupting their son with proper morals, and that manifested intense anger from Elton and Jeannette. They were determined to secure their son’s position in the Black Order and those who meddled deserved punishment. Thus, one evening when Adair was spending time with his girlfriend, they came. Members of the Black Order worked together, stating Adair’s loyalty was faltering.
The young man attempted to reason with them, however, they grabbed him, forcing him to kneel. He squirmed under the grip of those his parents enlisted to assist, watching with a horrified expressions as his parents approached her, knives ready. He squirmed more, pleading for them to stop, but there was a firm grip around the handle. Slowly, they began inflicting their damage, torturing the person Adair came to love. He screamed louder, squirmed more, tears welling in his eyes as he was forced to helpless observe the marvellous woman be tortured to death. When they finally released Adair, all he could do was stare at the abhorrent, mutilated corpse of the woman he cherished. He was absolutely petrified, the pain inside his heart becoming an overwhelming sensation which I mobilized him. Your loyalty comes to the Black Order first. The explanation by his was expected, Adair being forced to follow everybody back home.
Days passed since his girlfriend’s death, Adair’s mourning feeling like an endless hell inflicted upon him. Alas, her death sparked a new fire of determination, the young man clothing himself in his assassin garbs and gaining the nerve to rise. He gathered his weapons, preparing himself for the dangerous decision and the consequences which followed failure or success. This day, he would either be tortured for his betrayal, or relentlessly hunted for it. Capture meant a torturous death, but Adair refused this lifestyle; he lusted for freedom. When he left his room, the guards asked if he planned on apologizing for placing somebody else before the order, but Adair remained silent. They pushed for an answer, and the young man lunged, quickly disposing of them with the blades of his knives; quick and merciful. Hesitation was nonexistent as Adair hurried through the building, knowing they would discover his absence shortly. They expected pleading for an apology, but forgiveness would not occur until punishment was provided.
Faster, he ran through the hallways, killing anybody who attempted to trap him inside. These were the individuals who created those horrible emotions and his new enemies. Gradually, the distance between himself and escape was decreasing, Adair’s determination increasing as he moved closer to that door. Unfortunately, a final foe stood between him and the door which granted him escape. There stood his mother, a smirk on her face and excitement evident in her open, albeit, arrogant body language. Wordlessly, Adair swung at her, knowing Jennette would never warrant her son to leave; they proved it by killing her. Determination was burning as they fought, both fighting hard, but Adair would come out the victor. Despite the injuries he sustained during the fight, he managed to defeat Jennette and escape the Black Order’s main headquarters and from there he ran. Running was the only option, and he kept moving until his lungs burned and his body ached. The initial days of Adair’s escape were difficult, the young man traveling to the coast, hiding from people entirely. He began covering his face, knowing his father and the Black Order could potentially find him if he was reckless.
The coast was a relieving observation, Adair watching for a month, carefully noticing the movements of the ships and eventually plotting his escape from the UK. His birthplace was beyond dangerous, thus the blue-haired man knew he required a method of escape which would not create a paper trail or documentation. They would undoubtedly be searching for him, any slip-ups potentially costing the former assassin his life. The evening when he attempted to sneak onto one of the vessels was difficult, Adair taking a deep breath as he stealthily moved around the boat. He settled in an old crate, quietly waiting for them to dock somewhere else, thus he was trapped inside for days. Secretly, Adair would steal food and water, narrowly managing to inconspicuously live inside the boat for days. Eventually, the young man overheard news of their docking in a new location, Lorsette, Newfoundland. Once evening arrived, Adair managed to leave the ship, finding himself in a new city. The young man wandered around for a long time, penniless and alone, but finally free.
For days, he struggled, his lack of proper paperwork essentially trapping him in an endless loop of poverty. One evening while finding quiet in an alleyway, a strange, older gentleman found him and invited him to dinner. Optionless and hungry, Adair warily agreed to the spontaneous and generous offer from the man. They ate in private, and soon, the older gentleman, whose name was Gregory, began offering more to Adair, the young man attempting to refuse. And where will a young man like you go? I’ve seen you sleep in nothing, but alleyways. Immediately, Adair’s eyes widened before glancing down with shame. Shamefully, he agreed to the notion of staying with the older gentleman, but found himself pleasantly surprised to have a friend. As time went on, the older gentleman requested to know what brought Adair to Lorsette, evidently noticing his accent. For a long time, the man remained silent about his past until the man sat down with him and explained the situation.
He remembered the way he looked at him, knowing there was something strange about him. Listen, kid. You need to tell me what’s going on and then we can get everything sorted for you… You can’t live here forever, and you can’t live here without the proper paperwork. If you don’t tell me what’s going on, I’m calling the police. Immediately, Adair’s eyes widened as he was placed against the wall, and finally, he explained his reasons. The gentleman hung onto each word which escaped the young man’s lips, a frown breaching his expression as he finally understood the requirement for secrecy. The following day, things were started to get sorted, Adair papers being filed by a close friend of Gregory, each file being inconspicuously added under the statement of witness protection. As fair as people were concerned, Adair was a valuable witness, and he hesitantly provided them information about the Black Order to maintain his stay in Canada. Paperwork was specially encrypted, allowing for Adair to silently remain in the country, however, he remained jobless.
Only months after initially finding him to Gregory arrange for a new plan going forward as he remembered how Adair stated he wished to be help people instead of hurt them. There were more discussions about where exactly Adair would work, but the young man was uncertain and unfamiliar with the world. Finally, Gregory offered Adair a position where he worked, which sounded delightful to the young man who only knew fighting; finally, the opportunity to become a hero of sorts arrived. The Terror Response Syndicate would promptly become the place to employ him, his files undergoing similar circumstances and only shared with the higher ups. Once the papers were in order, Adair was enlisted into an apprenticeship program under the alias Amon, the young man refusing for his first name to be used.
Training among the TRS was easy for Adair, his previous occupation proving to give him an incredible amount of skill. Alas, Adair still found himself with little friends, his reclusive attitude oftentimes resulting in him being called a freak. Yet, the young man was not remotely bothered by the notion, his numbed emotions making it difficult to care about socializing. Each apprentice was beaten with ease, until a more advanced opponent arrived and demanded a sparring match. The green-haired man seemed like everybody else, Adair believing these fights would end up the same, however, he was proven wrong. Their match proceeded for an extensive period of time, both fighting hard in a desperate attempt to claim victory. Bruises, cuts and various injuries marked their skin, both forgetting they were merely expected to practice. In the end, the pair collapsed at the same time and their match was considered a draw. Later, Adair learned the man’s name was Donovan, both becoming close as they trained together.
Friendship blossomed between them, Adair and Donovan. Adair teamed with Donovan when he completed his apprenticeship. Gradually, things were improving in Adair’s life, the stability alongside the opportunity to help others bringing a smile to his face. There was happiness, freedom and everything the young man desired for a majority of his life. He was a hero, even becoming an elite hunter not long after graduation because of his skill. The alias Amon received all the credit, Adair preferring to avoid being provided with awards in his name; the Fellspark name was filled with darkness and sin. Around when Adair was 23 was when tragedy finally struck when he was called to a mission. Initially, he believed there would be nothing unique about the terror, however, he was proven incorrect when he arrived. A powerful terror was in the area, the information provided by the scout proving to be incorrect. Citizens were in the area, screaming because of the horrible occurrences around them and soon, Adair became the closest thing to safety. Without backup, Adair began fighting the terror, refusing to allow innocent people to die if he could prevent it.
As time ticked by, Adair found himself in a losing situation, his body growing weaker as he obtained more injuries until finally, a strong jolt of pain entered his body. A lethal wound which would inevitably kill him. Silently, fell to the ground, battered and on the brink of death. Arms wrapped around him at some point, leaning him against the alleyway wall, Adair’s eyes widening when he recognized Donovan. Already, his consciousness was swimming as Donovan left to fight the terror, the young man praying his close friend would survive the encounter. Unfortunately, Adair would be unable to witness the conclusion as Thanatos claimed him, his consciousness re-awakening in Purgatory. Confusion became evident as Adair glanced around, soon feeling naked when he realized his face was uncovered. He stood, exploring his surroundings, until shortly after his arrival, he noticed Donovan arrive in the same place. A short conversation occurred between the pair until he arrived.
A man shrouded in dark cloaks approaching them, stating there was a way to return to Earth. Quietly, Adair listened, the blue-haired man turning to his friend, informing him he needed to return. Wicked souls deserved no rest, the former assassin remembering the many people who were sent to the alternate dimension because of his hands, yet, he desired a familiar face. Motivational words left Adair’s mouth, the man completely aware that his return meant years of loneliness. Once the words were said, Adair accepted a deal with Thanatos, the young man’s body beginning to breath, the transformation into an undead species occurring instantly. When his eyes opened again, Adair discovered himself in the same alleyway, however, TRS forces were hovering over him. Inquiries were asked, almost anything about Donovan being answered with an I don’t know… and a sorrowful expression.
As days passed, he discovered his friend has returned, but there were secrets which were created. Based on the information Adair was provided, Donovan created a secret identity, but his intentions were unknown. Quietly, the newly made jorogumo accepted the circumstances, more concerned about retraining his new abilities to become a powerful hunter again. Time passed quickly, Adair becoming more powerful with his new abilities and eventually becoming more powerful. The abilities of a jorogumo suited the elite hunter, who shortly gained teasing nicknames like ‘Spidey’ because of his capabilities. When Donovan was promoted to Lieutenant of Unit One, Adair applied to be transferred, deciding to work alongside his friend. Alas, the time arrived for a thorough explanation, Adair finding Donovan to be a trustworthy soul to confide in. He explained everything, from the Black Order and how they were searching for him, wishing to torture him for his betrayal years ago. What felt like mere weeks were truly years, Adair successfully avoiding detection for almost 9 years. He remained with the TRS, his debt to the world not yet fulfilled in his opinion.
