Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
AND DON'T YOU DARE SAY YOU ARE SPENDING TIME AT A FRIEND'S HOUSE BECAUSE I TOLD YOU TO BE HOME TODAY! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO TELL ME IF YOU AREN'T COMING HOME!
ARE YOU HAVING A FLING?!
Ichiro... I swear to the gods... if you are out causing trouble again, you will be grounded for the rest of your life.
At a beautifully tall height of 6’ and a elegantly muscular body, making a majority of people find him appealing; at least in terms of conventional beauty. Lean muscles cover his body, his stomach being graced with abs which provide him a strong appearance. There are few flaws on Xeno’s body, especially considering he exercises religiously to maintain his strength since he works as a TRS elite hunter. His olive complexion tends to make Xeno appear more tanned compare to others, his skin being unmarked by any large scars. There are a few smaller, more unnoticable scars from years of working in combat situations. Since Xeno has an half-fae hertitage, his limbs are well proportioned and given an Earthen beauty similar to most elves, furthermore, he appears younger as a result. Despite this, his hands and feet are calloused from years of working on the field, a majority of this building up on his right thumb and pointer finger from practicing archery for decades.
There is a certain beauty to the chiselled, sharpness of Xeno’s facial features. His high cheekbones, strong chin and with a nose of average size and proportion, Xeno’s face has an especially handsome quality to it. From his head are locks of medium-long hair kept in a messy-esk fashion and reach his lower neck. Due to its semi-long length, there are instances where his hair may dip into his eye, however, this is rare. The most enchanting feature of Xeno’s face was his deep blue eyes, but unfortunately, one has been damaged in a scuffle from years ago. Only a single eye is left, displaying a radiant blue which tends to catch most people’s attention. The right eye possesses a diagonal scar over it, a pale pink colouring being evident where the scar is. The eye itself is duller, obviously sightless because of the damages it received years ago. Oftentimes, there is a black eye patch with a golden X covering the minor blemish.
Clothing is rather limited for Xeno, although, he tends to prefer loose-fitting brands under most circumstances. He has an admiration for cloaks and long-sleeved shirts which tend to be darkly coloured. Under most circumstances, a quiver is strapped to his back, filled to the brim with arrows he made himself. The bow remains by Xeno’s side, a weapon which he dedicates his life to despite advancements in modern technology. During work hours, Xeno wears a TRS uniform that has some slight alterations. Around his shoulders in a dark red cloak that says TRS Hunting Division in black letters. Beneath is a black long-sleeved shirt with both his name tag and unit on it in silver lettering. His pants are the average TRS addition with the dark colouring and the red stripe down the sides. The boots are slightly altered, designed to cater to speed because of Xeno’s speed-dependent fighting style.
Enhanced Eyesight -- Natural The ability to possess eyesight beyond that of a regular human’s, allowing the user to accomplish a variety of things because of their excellent vision. Long distances can be easily seen by Xeno, courtesy of the inherited magic of his Fae mother. Similarly, his eyes can see in complete darkness and even zoom on certain objects. Smoothly, his eyes can detect finer details, allowing him to have an observant edge compared to other individuals. The zooming function of his eyes can be slightly disorienting since it depends on fixation, thus it can easily fixate on one item before getting distracted by another. Night vision can be susceptible to sudden, bright flashes of light, making it difficult for him to see.
Enhanced Dexterity -- Natural The ability to be able to subtle move muscled with ample precision, allowing the individual to have incredible balance and aim with weapons. Movement is easy for Xeno, his enhanced dexterity allowing him to parkour around and aim his bow with ease. Each subtle movement of his muscles allows for excellent precision and smooth movements. Frequently, Xeno will allow this ability to assist his fighting style since it allows him to move around without the worry of being unbalanced. The only time when Xeno can be knocked over is if he is physically uprooted by another individual. Similarly, crumbling buildings or earthquakes could potentially knock Xeno over, but his capability tends to allow him to maintain balance. During periods of extreme tiredness, he could potentially wobble or fail to move as dexterously.
Enhanced Speed --- Advanced The ability to access speed beyond regular capabilities, allowing them to move and react quickly. Similar to most elves, Xeno is more fleet-footed and fast as opposed to strong. He is better designed to dodge attacks rather than attempt to use strength against a user. He can move faster than most individuals, his body unaffected by the side-effects of having an intense speed. He can speed around attacks, possibly overwhelming his opponents with quickly done attacks, his enhanced speed affecting his entire body. The most notable trait of Xeno’s enhanced speed is the speedy reaction times he gains as a result. When somebody initially attacks Xeno, he can access a small speed burst to dodge an attack, allowing him to escape injury. However, those with enhanced speed can easily match Xeno’s pace unless they have ineptness in their ability.
The main issue is Xeno’s stamina, the enhanced speed easily consuming immense amounts of energy from Xeno. As a result, failing to maintain a proper diet can easily manifest issues with the elf’s speed. Despite this, consistent use of his enhanced speed could result in exhaustion claiming him sooner than expected. While this ability assists in saving Xeno from a long list of horrible injuries from intense speed, he can still receive symptoms of stiffness or soreness in his body from excessive use.
Plant Growth -- Intermediate The ability to make plants grow at a faster rate than normal, making them healthy and strong. Never being someone completely interested in plants, Xeno did not train the ability thoroughly, however, he occasionally enjoys exploring nature and inducing the growth rates of certain plants. It is especially useful when he requires certain herbs, thus Xeno usually uses the ability sparingly. Usually, small plants can be properly grown within a few minutes, however, anything larger may take multiple visits from Xeno to be properly grown. This ability usually tires him out if used for 30 minutes.
Elven Music -- Beginner A special type of magic that allows elves to tame mortal creatures with the power of their music. Unfortunately, Xeno is not musically inclined, resulting in the ability of practically being nonexistent for him. As a result, he is unable to control anybody with the power of music, even if he were to try.
Tree of Stone -- Beginner The ability to funnel damage taken by a collective whole into a single vessel; allies oftentimes have to be the target for tanking this damage. While Tree of Stone easily held its useful implications in battle, Xeno prefers to avoid using it on account of how horrible the effects can be on a single individual. He would rather have injuries across the board rather than dump these potentially deadly ones onto a single person. As a result, he never uses Tree of Stone and will never consider using it.
Naturals: Slowed Aging
backstory
Born in a small village near the west coast in British Columbia, Xeno was the second oldest child in the union between his father and a Fae beauty. Their oldest child was approximately a year older than Xeno and their final was a mere year younger. Once all the children were born, Xeno’s mother disappeared into the night, nobody knew where the woman went. For days, his father searched for her, however, she was never found. Thus, he returned home to raise the precious children she gave birth to, and as time proceeded, he perhaps discovered the reason for her abrupt leaving. Unbeknownst to the father of the children, the woman possessed Fae origins, which explained her intense beauty and suggested perfection. The tests had confirmed the partial Fae blood which roamed heavily through the veins of his children. The mother had theoretically left because of her noble ties, leaving the father to raise her three children.
As Xeno grew up, he lacked a mother figure, the young child’s life revolving entirely around his father and siblings. They were all close, however, there were expactations placed onto their shoulders at a very young age. Together, they were expected to assist their father with chores, the man determined to make his children into hard workers. However, Xeno learned quickly it would be his older sister and himself doing a majority of the work while his younger brother constantly attempted to weasel his way out of it. Constantly, the older siblings were forced to urge the youngest to join in the chores. Unfortunately, they would be forced to accomplish the chores to play their games or do anything recreational. There was a genuine dislike to his brother’s lazy attitude, however, the young boy believed nothing could possibly be done in response. As time went on, his brother became lazier while he and his sister worked extensively to assist their single parent.
During a long summer when he was 8, Xeno learned about his father’s love for archery, the sport promptly attracting the young boy. For hours, he would observe his father, astonishment glimmering in his blue eyes as arrows soared through the air. The manner his father’s muscled would twitch, eyes narrowing as he drew the bow up. Cautious adjustments would be accomplished until finally, his calloused fingers would release the string, launching the arrow deep into the target. Each time, the child would gleefully clap, giggling excitedly as he cheered his father on in his endeavours. These moments were among the best for Xeno, the young boy pestering his father with billions of questions about the sport. Not long after becoming a spectator, did the youthful elf desire the action of launching those arrows, however, he was denied the real thing. Multiple times, his father would feed the desire, providing his little spectator with toy arrows.
Through those long days after the chores were finished, there would be endless laughter as his father taught him the wondrous sport in a safe manner. The bond between himself and his father strengthened from their enjoyment of a mutual hobby, Xeno always welcoming his company. With his interests in archery extremely evident, his father wrestled up the money to buy Xeno a bow for his 13th birthday, and thus, the young boy learned more about his favoured hobby. There were several rules his father taught at a young age as he gradually eased his son into learning the sensation of shooting an actual bow. They practiced for hours, Xeno wishing to proceed even when he failed to hit the target; he was addicted to the incredible emotions which transcended over him. Days were spent hastily finishing chores before pleading for his father to teach him more, he even begged whenever it was raining. He adored the hobby, desiring to become among the best if possible.
As time continued, Xeno became stronger, the young boy training himself as he realized how his skills could be utilized. When high school was finally completed and Xeno was 18 years of age, he enlisted into the TRS to become a hunter. His family was thrilled about his decision, however, remained worried about the young man’s dangerous decision. Time passed, Xeno promptly learning that becoming a hunter was no easy task. While his archery skills were impeccable, there were many things his time in the classroom and beside his mentor taught him. Each day, the young man became stronger, his steely determination manifesting the requirement to become a great hunter. Eventually, Xeno became a full-fledged hunter, capable and powerful because of his abilities, thus, his family rejoiced the notion. Unfortunately, there were some exceptions. Throughout their feast, Xeno’s younger brother kept his distance, watching from the furthest corners as his older brother received affection. There was a darkness in his heart, and only a few days later, he displayed his true colours.
An average patrol suddenly shifted to hell as terrors attacked them, Xeno and his group working hard to fend off the threats. Amidst the mayhem, the elf noticed his younger brother, his eyes widening as he realized the danger he placed himself in. They constantly disagree and squabbled, but the young hunter still loved his little brother greatly. Without hesitation, he moved to protect him, however, he never expected the events which occurred afterwards. Dust was covering the field as terrors were disposed of, Xeno moving towards his brother in an attempt to guide him elsewhere. Yet, his younger brother refused to move, resulting in the young hunter inching closer to force his desired outcome. A flash of silver came racing towards him, pain engulfing the right side of his face as a cursed blade ripped deep into his flesh. Blood sprayed, Xeno releasing a loud scream from the unexpected attack from the man he considered a brother.
The noise prompted the attention of his fellow hunters who noticed the blood dripping through the man’s fingers as he backpedalled away from his brother. There was little emotion, Xeno’s brother moving forward with the intention of harming his older brother more, however, he was stopped. Another hunter grabbed hold of the boy, wrestling him to the ground while the remaining moved to assist their wounded ally. After a long struggle, Xeno’s brother was apprehended while the young hunter was taken to the hospital to handle his injuries. Once he recovered, the outcome became rather grim as the doctors stated the curse was too strong. He would never regain sight in his right eye again. Throughout his recovery, Xeno became melancholic and angry at his brother, his personality taking a long time to recover from the devastating injury. Re-training was required, Xeno being forced to learn how to aim with only a single available eye. Arrows sunk into the target, each shot reminding the young man of his desires for vengeance against his brother. Gradually, he returned into the individual people recognized, but underneath his careless disposition was intense vindictiveness.
Around when Xeno was 20, his sister left home to travel the world, her endless curiosities resulting in extensive journies. Meanwhile, Xeno himself was offered a job opportunity in Lorsette, Newfoundland in the Terror Response Syndicate which would offer greater pay. Quickly, Xeno accepted the job and said farewell to his father before moving across the country to live in Lorsette. Once inside the Lorsette Branch of the TRS, Xeno learned about the struggles the city constantly faced and the reason behind their offer. They needed many hunters, the Assembly of Phantoms presence being extreme in Lorsette, however, the young hunter could not complain. Throughout the years, he kept in contact with his sister and father, the trio becoming closer as days passed. When Xeno was 22, his nephew, Ichiro McFallon, was born and he was delighted to become an uncle. While he could not visit his nephew often, he was overzealous when his sister showed him the precious bundle of joy.
Initially, from a distance, Xeno would watch his nephew grow until his sister finally arrived in Canada. Things were progressing excellently, Xeno finding himself happy with the current affairs of life. He proceeded with his work in the TRS, eventually becoming an elite hunter and among the powerful in the Lorsette branch. Everything could be considered rather average as Xeno offhandedly walked through life, but when he became 50, he received an unexpected plea from his sister. Over the young adult years if his nephew’s life, his sister was struggling to tame the young man, and began begging him to temporarily house the young boy. There was little thought when Xeno agreed, the hunter believing his nephew was merely being as one would expect a handsome adult to act. Unfortunately, Xeno was promptly proven wrong and has attempted to tame Ichiro’s lustful and dangerous behaviour through the months while balancing his hunting career.
