Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

[attr=class, bulk] A simple nature walk somehow transformed into an opportunity to start a potential friendship. There were still uncertainties about what could happen, but Bram found himself pleased with the progression and the possibility of shedding lonesomeness. He would always crave the attention of his older brother but gaining friendship could stave those intense feelings. The faekin was frightened of his parents, thus reconnecting with Vance was impossible until further notice, however, this was pleasant. The idea of gaining friends was hopeful, something which brought comfort to Bram's surroundings.
[break][break]
Eventually, the tall foreboding buildings of the cityscape would transform into a more comfortable atmosphere, however, never completely homey. The suffocating air in Lorsette itself could be bothersome to the young faekin. Alas, Bram knew that when the city became a burden, he could find luxury here amidst the trees, perhaps searching for his favoured location to one day show Aurora. The thought of no time restrictions as Aurora mentioned was pleasant, Bram favouring the brunette with a petite smile as she stated it.
[break][break]
From the shallow depths of the stream, Bram reached to assist Aurora back to her feet, pink eyes widening when she teased about pulling him in. Immediately, the faekin rapidly shook his head, well aware soaked jeans would be an unpleasant feeling.
[break][break]
"Pl-please don't!" He pleaded louder than expected.
[break][break]
Phone stowed away in his sweater pocket and the discomfort of soaked jeans resulted in Bram begging for Aurora not to. Fortunately, it appeared to be all playful teasing. Thus, the young faekin assisted with hoisting the brunette back to her feet. Once Aurora stood again, Bram returned to his shoes and struggled in tugging the white socks over his soaked feet. Success arrived slowly, the black-haired teen pouting as an effort was placed into forcing his sock onto his feet. Each second the fabric argued against the cruelty, however, Bram eventually prevailed.
[break][break]
Promptly, his feet slipped back into his shoes, laces being pulled taut and tied tightly. Bram slowly stood, his semi-calloused hands dusting off the dirt from his jeans. When Aurora spoke, the faekin nodded, knowing he should head back to the dormitory to study. Around him, the subtle breeze embraced him and the trees rustled their goodbyes from above. Quietly, he followed Aurora down the dirt path, sparing a moment to admire the beauty around them until they inevitably had to part. A final farewell left escaped his mouth before the faekin turned away, taking a familiar dirt path back to Lorsette and later concrete sidewalks home.
[attr=class, bulk] Animals always coaxed Bram's social abilities, assisting to defend the young man from the anxieties he battled daily. Merely conversing about his zoopathy brought a pleasant sense of joy into the faekin's life. These creatures were a positive interaction which alleviated the sorrow of Vance's absence. Nobody else was missed, including his sisters, however, Vance was always significant in Bram's life. Perhaps he was feeling heartless, or maybe his brother was the only one capable of skidding by because of how much he adored him.
[break][break]
They shared a bedroom, a childhood and spent plenty of days playing together or conversing. Undoubtedly, Vance listened whenever he needed somebody, staying close and making him feel special. Never a brother, but always somebody Bram endlessly crushed on because of his freakish enjoyment of his attention. A soft sigh escaped Bram's lips as he watched the minnows, however, he was promptly distracted when Aurora mentioned the wolf pups. He provided the brunette with a fragile smile in an attempt to mask his longing for Vance's attention.
[break][break]
"Um... I haven't... explored enough yet," he mumbled.
[break][break]
Red slightly shaded his cheeks as embarrassment claimed Bram's face. Knowledge was lacking, the Calico Forest a complete mystery to the foreigner. Water splashed around the dutchman as the ravenette finally exited the stream, soaking the soil around it. Dirt squished into Bram's toes when his feet stepped onto the ground. Carefully, he lifted his foot and shook the water and specks of soil. The faekin glanced at his bag and promptly flinched as he realized he lacked a crucial item for entering the water.
[break][break]
The handiness of a towel never crossed Bram's mind until he finally needed the item. Wet feet being forced into socks and returned to shoes would be an uncomfortable consequence. Splashes of water filled the air, the ravenette eyes widening as he glanced over his shoulder at Aurora who fell back. The stream soaked her from the slip, thus Bram's worries about his feet dissipated.
[break][break]
"Aurora!" Bram exclaimed, worry breaching his tone.
[break][break]
Hastily, the ravenette turned on his heel and hurried back, only slowing when he realized something. Laughter escaped Aurora's lips because of her slip into the stream. Movements were paused as Bram smiled slightly, a small chuckling leaving his mouth. A hand was stretched towards her to assist Aurora back to her feet after her slip. It was the polite thing to do.
[attr=class, bulk] Animals were magnificent creatures, always having a variety of interesting stories and thoughts. There were some hyper creatures, loud and energetic, but Bram's favourites were the calm animals. Under most circumstances, fish represented those pleasant traits, soothing like the flowing stream. Fish were easily startled, and occasionally difficult to gain the trust of, but Bram could easily thrive in their company. Joy filled him whenever he could watch the tiny fish swim around the water, happily going about their quiet lives.
[break][break]
A broad grin remained on Bram's face as he excited beamed at the tiny minnows, however, he restrained himself from doing anything which would startle them. The small school of fish were a pleasant sort, quiet at first, but soon initiating some casual animal chatter, mostly related to the routes they would take. Animals usually fixated on survival, some being impossible to persuade into staying still for a conversation. The curious questions Aurora asked were oddly welcomed, Bram completely enjoying the opportunity to talk about his zoopathy talks.
[break][break]
"Well... it depends on the animal. These guys are figuring out their route. They want to avoid the lake since there are lots of campers up there," Bram explained. "I like calmer animals, but you should see animal pups. If you can find a nice mama, their pups are so excitable! They are like little puppies!"
[break][break]
Enthusiasm consumed Bram's voice, making the minnows wary as they conducted their swimming circles at a further distance. A subtle pink touched the young man's cheeks as embarrassment flooded through him by allowing his excited energy to show. After a few moments, he stood straight, smiling as he watched the fish from a distance.
[attr=class, bulk] Broadly, Bram smiled down at the tiny fish, his faekin blood providing the abilities needed to stay nearby without disturbing the small creatures. The boy's pink eyes proceeded to observe the fish, evidently enjoying every second of his interaction with the petite animals. There were times Bram could sit for hours watching the wildlife in the Netherlands and it never changed despite the move he loathed. Carefully, the phone was adjusted, the young faekin snapping a few additional pictures of the adorable creatures.
[break][break]
Endless thanks were given to his zoopathy and Aurora, each mentally done as he enjoyed observing the tiny, silver-coloured fish. While they would grow one day, Bram easily enjoyed these moments stationed in the shallows of a slow-moving stream. A sad grin stretched across the ravenette's face as he casually glanced over his pictures. He wished he could show Vance all his findings or go on nature hikes with him. Each day he missed the redheaded kitsune, however, contacting him would become a jail sentence back to the house he ran away from.
[break][break]
The softly spoken words from Aurora pulled Bram away from his thoughts as he shyly glanced over before his eyes returned to the minnows.
[break][break]
"Well... I can talk to them... animals understand me and I understand them," he explained quietly.
[break][break]
The ability was extremely useful for the nature-lover, thus he joyfully accepted the weaknesses which arrived with being a faekin in exchange for what abilities he received. He could help others and truly communicate with nature the way he desired. It was magnificent and joy-inspiring for him.
[attr=class, bulk] Pink touched Bram's cheeks when Aurora referred to him as sweet. Those compliments were rare after the young faekin left home, those words activating a sorrowful nostalgia. Merely hearing the remark reminded him of Vance creating a wish to spend more time with his brother. A few hasty nods of acknowledgement were provided in an attempt to move on from the topic. Pondering Vance brought sadness because of how much he missed his brother. To distract himself, wildly, Bram's pink eyes glanced around the stream, searching for the adorable, small fish living in the water.
[break][break]
Chances were, they would still be rather small considering the environment they currently lived in. Curious eyes glanced over the slow-moving water, searching for those precious fish. Despite the brunette assisting the water was fine, Bram was more fixated on finding fish in the water. For minutes, the faekin searched for those small minnows until, finally, he heard Aurora speak. Quickly, Bram hurried over, only slowing when he approached where the brunette was standing. Slowly, he glanced into the waters below, and finally, a broad stretched across Bram's face.
[break][break]
Tiny, silver-coloured fish idly swam in the stream, enjoying the waters as he expected. A happy gasp escaped the dark-haired man's lips as excitement filled him.
[break][break]
"They're so small!" He gleefully exclaimed.
[break][break]
Carefully, Bram kicked off his shoes, pulling off the white socks to slowly enter the water and watch the fish. They were startled, the dark-haired man crouched narrowly avoiding dipping into the water.
[break][break]
"Hey, it's okay," he murmured softly, the faekin's zoopathy making communication possible.
[break][break]
Cautiously, the minnows came closer, an uncharacteristic trait, but drawn into curiosity because of Bram's zoopathy. Happily, the dark-haired observed the fish swim in a small school in front of him. Slowly, he grabbed his phone from his sweater pocket to flick over to the camera feature. He adjusted the zoom until finally having he had a satisfying picture. The flash was doubled check, Bram turning it off to avoid startling the fish. With a single click, the picture was captured, a pleasant close-up of the adorable minnows.
[break][break]
A large smile stretched across as Bram viewed the end product, loving the picture of the tiny fish in their small school. These were the activities the faekin enjoyed, nature becoming more important than social interaction.
[attr=class, bulk] Social interactions were always difficult for Bram, the Dutchman's lack of communications outside his family in his childhood evidently affecting his current skills. Alas, the dark-haired man took a pinch of pride for managing reach this point in a conversation. In most situations, the faekin's awkwardness would have resulted in the other individual leaving because of Bram's inability. While concerns grew about his social capabilities, the young man was genuinely trying his best to socialize with Aurora.
[break][break]
The faekin's pink eyes gazed around the forest, returning to the brunette when she stated his name was nice. There was a subtle widening to Bram's eyes, surprised by the kindly compliment the woman provided. Few people admired his name, the majority finding it rather bland and simple. He possessed no qualms over the name his parents gave him, but he was nonetheless surprised to receive a compliment. Slowly, the corners of the bashful man's lips twitched up into a small, thankful smile over the benevolent remark he was granted.
[break][break]
"Thank you," he murmured quietly, but with a content tone. "You're name is nice too..."
[break][break]
Reciprocating the compliment felt like the proper course of action to be polite to the brunette. Communication difficulties could potentially create strains where people perhaps found him aloof, thus Bram genuinely tried his best. Gradually, they toured through the forest, Bram listening to the words Aurora stated. Slowly, the dark-haired man nodded at her words, glancing at the trails she mentioned. Occasionally, the faekin would wander off the paths to meet the animals which lived in the Calico Forest.
[break][break]
He followed her, the woman's abrupt stop prompting him to cease movement inches away from Aurora. Hastily, Bram took a few careful steps back, creating some distance between himself and the brunette. A soft laugh escaped his lips, a slight awkwardness evident in it despite his amusement. They turned off the main path, Bram following Aurora carefully. The sounds of trickling water filled his ears, a small smile gracing the faekin's lips as they closed in on the stream. Once they arrived, Bram watched the water glisten over the flowing stream.
[break][break]
Immediately, the smile broadened, the dark-haired man hurrying towards the water and glancing around at the area. When the woman spoke and slipped her shoes off to dip her feet in, Bram curiously watched her.
[break][break]
"Um... Are there any fish? ... Like minnows?" Bram inquired, pink eyes searching for the tiny fish.
[break][break]
After arrival, Bram researched and explored the nature in the area. Unfortunately, being confined to his parents' home because of the abuse limited where they allowed him to go. Thus, today was the best opportunity for the dark-haired man to thoroughly explore everything.
[attr=class, bulk] A silence was discovered between the pair, however, the soft sounds of life was a comforting noise throughout the walk. Birds cheerfully chirped above, wings fluttering and leaves rustling as they moved through the trees and played their games. Squirrels chattered above, their calls echoing through the trees. Wide-eyed, Bram glanced around at the wonderful scenery, admiring nature as done many times before. While he missed the familiar surroundings of his Dutch homeland, he managed to enjoy the Canadian wilderness for its differences when compared to his home.
[break][break]
A reserved smile curved onto Bram's face as he followed behind Aurora, forgetting his attempts at conversation. Nature's beauty was always a distraction for the shy, young faekin. As they proceeded on their path, the apprentice medic's pink eyes continued to wander, his smile growing wider when he witnessed fluttering butterflies or buzzing bees. Calico Forest was held a liveliness which attracted the young boy's wonderment. When conversation returned, Bram jumped slightly from the unexpected attempt to continue their socializing.
[break][break]
"Um... No... It's just Bram," he explained quietly. "At least... my family always called me Bram."
[break][break]
As they proceeded down the path, Bram remained behind Aurora, the socially awkward teen being unaware that proper protocol involved walking alongside the person. Rarely, the young man socialized with others, thus he was completely clueless about what was considered "proper". The teasing comment was unexpected, the wink followed by a laugh prompting Bram to awkwardly laugh in return before bashfully glancing away; he always struggled to handle teasing from strangers.
[attr=class, bulk] A deep breath was sucked into the depths of Bram's lungs as he attempted to maintain an air of calmness. Anxieties about these social situations always took effort for the shy faekin. Since his arrival in Lorsette, he never attempted to connect with anybody around him and take those steps to manifest friendship between him and another individual. The brunette would be the first person Bram reached out in a desperate attempt to establish a connection and avoid the horrible feelings of loneliness which haunted him daily.
[break][break]
An awkward smile remained on Bram's face, the young man mentally prepared himself for further conversation. These were the moments where the dark-haired man desired Vance's company. Oftentimes, he found his brother held an adeptness in social interactions and could assist him during a potential conversation. There was a smile on her face when she welcomed him, Bram bashfully smiling back and slowly nodding thanks. When the woman turned to begin walking, Bram quickly followed behind her, jogging slightly to walk close behind her.
[break][break]
Silently, the faekin followed behind the mysterious woman, not even thinking about walking beside her instead. A moment passed before somebody spoke, the woman introducing himself as Aurora.
[break][break]
"I'm Bram," he murmured quietly, his shyness displaying itself.
[break][break]
Quietness was easier to handle opposed to actual conversation, mostly because of Bram's failures in socializing. The dark-haired man desired friendship, however, his inability to socialize with other people made everything difficult. The soft sounds of birds chirping in the branches overhead earned Bram's attention. Promptly, a frown touched his face, why could animals not be adequate friends? Due to the dark-haired man's zoopathy, animals were favourable friends in these situations, alas, he unfortunately required human friends; how cruel...
[attr=class, bulk] The soft laugh which escaped the brunette’s lips suggested his dishonest answer was accepted. Relief flowed over Bram similar to a river, calmness wrapping around him after narrowly avoiding being dubbed a runaway. Even in joking manners, the faekin refused to declare himself as one, his endless fears of discovery silencing the notion of admitting. Nobody had warranted the truth since Bram knew there was a chance he would be dragged home to them. The parents who angrily raised their fists and bruised his delicate body while screaming derogatory comments. To them, he was worthless, stupid and a poor excuse for a son; the mere thought made him visibly shake.
[break][break]
Terrifying memories of his parent’s abusive attitudes always reminded Bram he needed to remain vigilant. Alas, every second he avoided contact with home, his lonesomeness would increase. He lacked friends and his beloved brother stayed alongside his parents, unbeknownst to the abhorrent situation. Nervousness wrapped around the dark-haired man as he hesitantly proceeded in the conversation with the stranger. Desires to vanquish the loneliness plaguing his daily life motivated Bram to slowly continue their interaction.
[break][break]
At the mention of being new around Lorsette, Bram nodded slowly. "Yeah... I... I don't know many people."
[break][break]
The words escaped his lips in a mumble, the dark-haired man's shyness naturally displaying itself. When the woman offered a tour of the forest, the bespectacled man quietly nodding in agreement. A soft, appreciative smile touched Bram's lips, however, there were tones of bashfulness to his expression. The Calico Forest was an interesting location after briefly wandering through the trees, thus the faekin was excited to have a tour guide. Nature made Bram feel a sense of comfort and safety, his keenness to plants and animals allowing happiness to transcend over him.
[attr=class, bulk] Socializing was constantly an awkward experience for Bram, his severe lack of social prowess making the activity extremely difficult. There were instances where he desired to improve his abilities in conversations, however, the dark-haired man still tended to fail in the category. The shyness which surrounded him made it nearly impossible to socialize on some occasions, the young man oftentimes depending entirely on Vance for assistance. Unfortunately, at this moment, the faekin found himself alone and without the emotional support of his crush; he was forced to awkwardly attempt to maintain the conversation.
[break][break]
The simple 'What?' in response resulted in Bram's smile wavering as his pink eyes awkwardly stared at the underbrush, unable to move. Perhaps he should have shut his mouth and allow the conversation to cease... Fortunately, the brunette eventually answered his inquiry, providing the young man with some relief. There was a brief silence as Bram attempted to figure out where the conversation should go. He genuinely wished he possessed some degree of capability in these social situations, however, his parents sheltered him and the Fae were unable to teach him everything.
[break][break]
Quietly, Bram had listened to her reasons behind heading into the forest for a pleasant walk, yet, he maintained an air of anxiety around him. When the question was reciprocated, the dark-haired man's eyes flitted towards the brunette. The smile stretched across her lips was a soothing sight since it suggested he was actually accomplishing an adequate job of conversing.
[break][break]
"Well... um... no... I just have a day off... and I haven't really explored the forest here," he explained, a shy man's quietness in his tone.
[break][break]
A fragile, awkward smile touched Bram's face as he gracelessly avoided the notion of running away. Admitting he was a runaway was a frightful notion, the young man knowing he needed to remain hidden else his abusive parents would discover his whereabouts and drag him back into the house of hell. Escaping the horrible home situation was the main objective, however, now he needed to never return despite how much he missed Vance.
