Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Valentine’s Day, a time for lovers to proclaim their affections towards others with the usage of gifts or mere words. Snow covered the ground as lovestruck fools strolled through the streets while broken-hearted pursuers and the singles hid themselves away in their homes or those of friends or family. There was nothing particularly special about the day, especially when your appearance was comparable to an over-sized lizard. Out of the kindness of her heart, Francisca Blackwater had decided to register her sister for the Blind Date event.

Thus, the monstrously designed golem crawled from the shadows of her outskirts home. Her superior height of approximately 6’11” making her tower over others. Her sharpened teeth were hidden beneath her lips, but the slightest smile would reveal the frightful rows of pearly whites. As she lurked through the streets, the large woman felt naked because of her ax's absence. Everything about her ax was precious to her, therefore, she despised being forced to leave it behind due to her requirements to join a blind date. Thus she struggled through clothing choices and manifesting a "beauty" in her appearance.

For her unfortunate date, Naomi wore nothing particularly fancy and rather picked her "best" clothing for her style. Beneath her jacket was a dark-purple tank-top. Adorned over her shoulders was a black, leather jacket with the zipper brought up to approximately mid-chest. Black, loose-fitting pants covered her lets, reaching down to a pair of thick, combat boots. Collaring her neck was a spiked black choker. Assisting to complete her desired look was a large ax charm dangling from a golden chain hooked around her neck.

The beast's hair was nothing special, evident by the somewhat messy style exhibited by her purple mane. It was obvious a mere brushing was accomplished to tidy the locks, however, she failed to stylize it. Her yellow eyes peered through her bangs, watching as people gathered at the restaurant. She had the opportunity to ditch and head home, perhaps claim her date screamed and turned tail upon seeing their date. Unfortunately, she was aware Francisca would be disappointed should she discover Naomi decided to avoid the event and hide.

A soft sigh drifted through her lips, gradually preparing herself to handle people. Oftentimes, the generally republic considered somebody with an appearance similar to her shouted monster. They quivered in fear, shaking with fright because of attitude and physical looks. With her intimidating height and frightening features, it was a natural reaction given by those around her, therefore, she expected. From the nearby alleyway she contained herself to for a brief gathering of motivation to play Fran's silly, sisterly games.

The sounds of her shoes stomping on asphalt garnered the attention of those around her. A portion already quivered in fear, some provided a curious gaze and others displayed a tense appearance. She approached the front counter, the people organizing the blind date giving a hesitant smile.

They nodded, flipping through papers before gesturing for her to follow. An uninterested huff inaudibly escaped her snout as she followed the guide. Together, they entered the restaurant, Naomi being taken into the main area. On the tables were name tags, vases filled with bouquets of roses and generally a fancier setting. Upon entry, the punkish brawler discovered herself feeling out of place. There were clean carpets without the stench of cigarette smoke, beautiful wooden chairs and pleasant lighting fixtures.

Walls were painted attractively, lacking stains or damages caused by rowdy thugs. Everything about the situation she was thrust into contrasted the usual atmosphere of The Battleaxes. Regularly, her gang manifested the type of tone Naomi sought with her personality. She enjoyed the rough-housing nature, their abrupt sparring and loud laughter of joking friends who felt like family. The burning smells of consumed alcohol, weaving clouds of smoke from cigarettes and offers of participating in criminal activity for enjoyment or food.

They were not moralistic people, a bunch of sinners who invested in one another. They were desperate people, working together and discovering happiness in their pathetic lives. A sigh escaped her lips as she shuffled forward, searching for her respective name tag. Mentally, she prayed the food would make the experience positive and furthermore, that her date was not obnoxious.

Unique is the best word to describe Naomi on account of her peculiar appearance; this is a result of her boogeyman heritage. Her appearance has altered through time, optimizing the chance to frighten those around her to allow her to feed on their fear. As a result, Naomi is an extremely tall beast, arriving at a height of 6’10” which allows her to tower over plenty. Her muscular and athletic body provide her a heavier weight and it frequently shows. Unlike most girls, Naomi is rather big, even possessing a wider set of shoulders than averagely seen in female species. Although, her body is beyond what most species look like, her appearance having a beastly tone. There is a monster-like appearance to her body, and while she still has a similar hourglass figure humans have, she does have varying traits which make her more supernatural. There is a large muzzle which protrudes from her face, roundish and holding numerous razor-sharp teeth. Her complexion is purple-pink, giving her skin an exotic appearance when compared to regular humans; across her skin are many scars caused by her street fighting and love of brawling. Hers fingers are rather long, possessing sharp nails designed to claw into other creatures and inflict damage.
As of facial features, Naomi is frequently compared to alligators and other living animals because of her beastly appearance. Her muzzle and exotic complexion are frequently the most notable traits of her strange appearance. Another interesting feature, albeit hidden beneath her mane of wild hair, is her yellow eyes. They are rarely viewed because of the way her bangs are cut, but they bare extreme resemblance to a lizard, solidifying her similarities to an alligator, although, without a tail. What breaks this illusion is Naomi’s royal purple hair that flows down in wild curls across her back and shoulders. Her hair ends just below her shoulders, and is surprisingly soft and well taken care of. It is oftentimes provided a simple style, with her bangs frequently hiding her eyes and occasionally obscuring her vision. While there is evident care to her hair, not much effort is truly placed into styling it, frequently providing it a messier appearance.
The clothing Naomi wears is oftentimes in a punk style and frequently possess a variety of rips in them. She likes spiked chokers, occasionally wearing one to obtain a tough appearance. She never wears fancy clothing nor does she care much about the clothes she wears. For pants she prefers loose fitting jeans, particularly darker ones with rips in the knees. She despises wearing revealing clothing.
Enhanced Strength -- Advanced The ability to hold strength above that of an average person, allowing for the user to lift heavy objects and deliver devastating blows. In Naomi’s arsenal, her best trained ability is her enhanced strength which allows her to do serious damage. She is capable of breaking buildings and most definitely people if they are not careful when her strength is being accessed. With ease, Naomi can throw heavy objects and swing the large, durable axe she carries along with her. Unfortunately, this ability can easily drain the most power if Naomi uses it obsessively and considering this is her primary ability for fighting, she uses it often. Years of training have allowed her to become adept in using this ability, but it will still drain her power supply. This ability can last for hours, however, with obsessive use in a short amount of time, this can be cut to a meagre 1-2 hours before Naomi risks passing out and potentially requiring rest. Against those with enhanced strength, she can easily become matched in terms of power.
Enhanced Durability -- Natural The ability to be durable against attacks, making it difficult for an enemy to break skin, bones or other pieces of the user’s body. Unlike most people, Naomi is extremely durable, making it difficult to wear her body down with physical attacks. Beneath her skin is a serious of light-weight armoured plates which protect her from damage a majority of the time. This being said, these plates can still take damage and gradually start to deteriorate as time goes on. Furthermore, these plates work best against physical attacks, a majority of magic-based ones tending to have a stronger effect on Naomi. Due to her durability, Naomi does not become in pain quickly unless magic-based attacks are used to cause damage.
Enhanced Reflexes -- Natural The ability to react to things very fast, allowing the user to dodge on coming attacks or even catch falling objects in midair. After being remade, Naomi was given excellent reflexes, these even reaching a length of allowing her to access a small spurt of speed to dodge faster attacks. This allows Naomi to fight excellently, going length to allow her to dodge or block attacks which may be too difficult for other people. Unfortunately, her enhanced reflexes have their limits because they work in small spurts. Large barrages of fast attacks can potentially overwhelm her, resulting in injuries because of the speed. Similarly, attacks which surround a person and leave a limited amount of space to escape can lead to questionable instances. While her enhanced reflexes do have bursts of speed, she cannot unlock this speed for long periods of time, but merely for a reaction against something. This means she cannot overwhelm someone else with speed since these spurts are only onset by a reflex. Using this ability to often can result in drains on Naomi’s battery power.
Pain Suppression -- Natural The ability to suppress the painful sensations her nerves sense, allowing her to make the pain more acute. Unlike most people, Naomi is capable of enduring intense pain, her ability to suppress pain working excellently. Oftentimes, this ability is used to allow Naomi to keep fighting, even under the sensations of pain. This being said, this ability can make Naomi unable to notice attacks which could only spark an acute sense of pain. Her dulled down nerves result in this, allowing for enemies who know how to kill with minimal pain potentially being capable of defeating her.
Temperature Resilience -- Natural The ability to be more tolerant towards extreme temperatures, allowing the user to survive better in extreme conditions. Naomi is strong towards intense heats and colds which has allowed her to survive in a variety of seasons. This being said, fire is still problematic, especially if the flame is intense enough to melt the metallic pieces of her body. Fortunately, this ability assists Naomi in her rather poor lifestyle. As a result, she gives all blankets or anything designed to assist with survival against harsh temperatures is given to her sister.
Fear Eater -- Natural When created, Naomi’s maker decided to take in account her boogeyman heritage. She was forged into a golem capable of feeding off the fear of others, which ultimately converts into energy for her body. To accomplish the task of consumption, Naomi merely needs to be around those in fear or panic and she will automatically absorb the fear which grants her strength. Her appearance was tailored to strike fear into the hearts of others and because of her efforts in making others fear her, she gains plenty of energy. The energy she gains from fear is the equivalent to hearty meals, allowing her to work for days with ease. Unfortunately, not feeding on enough energy can cause Naomi severe problems since she risks the possibility of shutting down entirely should she not gain enough energy.
Night Vision -- Natural The ability to see in pure darkness, even artificially created because of the magic infused in Naomi’s eyes. Whenever she sees in darkness, she can see similarly as she can in daylight, allowing her to navigate through the darkness with ease. Unfortunately, the strength of her night vision reaches incredible heights, making her eyes more sensitive to light than expected. While she would fair better than her original species, Naomi would have issues when the sun is at its highest peak alongside bright, strobing lights to the eyes. These are capable of temporarily blinding Naomi because of the strength of her night vision.
Immortality -- Natural Both during her years as a boogeyman and golem, Naomi has been immortal which provides her a youthful appearance and maintains her body. This only ceases the aging process.
Weaknesses
Light Sensitivity: Naomi is extremely sensitive to bright lights, this includes morning hours of the day where her eyes are more vulnerable. Bright and flashy lights especially tend to bother her eyes, disorienting her easily and allowing for the opponent to get the upper hand.
Battery Powered: A magic infused battery powers Naomi which allows her to feed off fear and transform into energy to fuel her abilities and body entirely. Without access to enough fear, Naomi can easily suffer and even pass out should her power levels reach dangerously low. Her battery can be powered via a wireless charger, but this takes an entire week until Naomi retains enough power, proving fear to be the best method of gathering.
Maintenance: While Naomi is made from limited technology (most of her functionality being based off a mixture of magic, electricity and soul energy), her metallic pieces are extremely difficult to maintain. They are hidden beneath muscular flesh, resulting in surgery being required to mend the metallic pieces. These metal pieces heal extremely slowly compared to the skin and true flesh of Naomi’s body; since they are not biological tissue, these metal pieces cannot be healed through healing magic (i.e. hexes, healing powers, hymns, etc.).
Metal Manipulation: There are metal plates and pieces riddled through Naomi’s body, which could easily become an advantage for metal manipulators wishing to take her down. Notably, her body is more resilient than basic metals because of her consciousness.

fear… they must fear you… it’s what you need, it’s what you eat. fear is needed.
From the beginning, Naomi was destined to be a beast to be feared, from her species to her abnormal and frightening appearance. She was born in London, Ontario as a strange creature, adopting her father’s peculiar and menacing looks. Through infancy, Naomi was fortunate to survive considering the amoral tendencies of her parents. They were alcoholics, caring more about sex, drinking, drugs and whatever else which could provide that momentary high. There was absence of love in the house, rather it was a constant, verbal argument. Her parents lived with her grandparents, the pair fighting plenty over the custody rights of young Naomi, but no matter the situation, the young girl would always be exposed to the horrible environment she would loosely call “home”. There were always these nasty smells polluting the house, from drugs, cigarettes, alcohol and occasionally sweat. Strangers were a constant, filing into the bedroom or being out in the living room whenever her grandparents were away. Only when Naomi’s grandparents were home was when the place possessed any definition of tamed.
The parents? They never loved each other, merely sticking together in a desperate attempt to prove they could be suitable for their young daughter. A sudden fling turned into an early pregnancy which spawned their daughter. From the beginning she could process words, Naomi felt angry and alienated from her horrible parents. Anger conquered her life, resulting in the young boogeyman being alone during school and locking herself away when at home. The young girl was only willing to speak with her grandparents, although, she was known for verbally lashing out at her grandparents; fortunately, they properly handled the situation and punished her accordingly. While the anger in Naomi’s heart still manifested routinely, she still loved and felt overprotective of her grandparents. They were the darling faces who attempted to protect her from her parents. When in school, Naomi was renowned as one of the bad girls because of her horrible attitude. Frequently, she was suspended and given detention for her behaviour.
Only approximately a year of beginning kindergarten, Naomi’s mother got pregnant again. This time, however, she gave birth to a surprising daughter filled with beauty. The little girl possessed a normal human-like body, although, still a boogeyman in species. When their newest daughter was born, her parents displayed similar irresponsible behaviours. Their attitudes aggravated Naomi, resulting in her aggressively getting between her parents and her sister. She was protectively of her younger sister, Francisca and refused to allow her parents to taint the young girl’s life. The grandparents were forced to step in and care for the young girl, evidently remaining disappointed in their own daughter’s behaviour. The fighting increased, forcing Naomi to work hard on protecting Fran from it all. Whenever they started, Naomi would try and drag whatever device Fran was secured in out of the room where they fought. Home troubles were one of the few things occupying young Naomi’s life since school proved to be problematic.
The menacing appearance the young girl inherited from her family made the other children avoid her. A monstrous appearance was simply not welcomed among most children’s groups, which resulted in Naomi becoming a troublesome loner. She would fight with other children, giving them bruises or making them cry. Occasionally, she would talk back to teachers and display similar bad behaviours which resulted in a variety of punishments. More detentions, suspensions and some near expulsions from the local school program brought forth a new idea from her grandparents. Around the age of 8, her grandparents resorted to homeschooling to avoid Naomi missing precious hours of learning. Unfortunately, this resulted in more exposure to her parents, however, she was able to protect Fran better. Even during her lessons, Naomi would thrust herself between Fran and her parents, the end result sparking several arguments. In short, Naomi refused to allow her parents to corrupt her daughter.
For several years Naomi would verbally fight with her parents because of her intense dislike of them. Constantly, the grandparents would be required to keep the pair from fighting, both verbally and nearly physical. There were several instances where her parents nearly smacked Naomi, the hot-headed girl narrowly avoiding it each time. Unfortunately, as Naomi became older, her tongue became sharper. At the age of 12, the young girl got into a heated verbal argument, eventually provoking her parents. A hand was brought back, quickly colliding on Naomi cheek, which resulted in her falling as a result. Concern entered the young girl as she backed away, her parents advancing quickly, preparing to continue the assault against their daughter, but they were stopped. Before the damage could be dealt, Naomi’s grandparents interfere and demanded Naomi to take Fran to her room and wait. Frightened and afraid, Naomi grabbed Fran’s arm and leaded her to her bedroom where she watched from the upstairs window to calm down. Eventually, she noticed her parents being shoved out the door, soon walking down the sidewalk; that day, Naomi’s parents were kicked out of the house for attempting to harm their daughter.
Once the parents were gone, Naomi’s life improved greatly because everything in their household felt balanced and pleasant. The children were no longer exposed to the horrible attitudes of their parents, making them feel safe and loving. There was a slight improvement to Naomi’s behaviour, although, he remained rather hot-headed and angry despite the attempts to remedy to help with it. They became a happy family, Naomi’s grades improving as the young child improved greatly. This occurred for 4 pleasant years, Naomi gradually at 18 years with a little above average marks. For once, Naomi felt safe and loved, although, she was under the false belief things were going to stay that way. One evening, around when she was 20, Naomi was out later than expected since she wanted to enjoy a pleasant walk during the night hours when her species was the safest. As she was rounded a corner, she was dragged into an alleyway and pushed to the ground where she was forced to desperately fight for her life as hands grasped her throat. Somebody was holding her down while the other strangled her, and as Naomi began looking around, she realized it was her parents. Immediately, the young girl began struggling, but with her muscular father holding her down she never stood a chance.
When she never returned home, her grandparents worried and called the police, stating that their granddaughter never returned home that evening. Even as police cruisers were sent out, Naomi’s grandfather began searching for her, going along the route where she found her, strangled and left to in a lonesome alleyway. The police were given the destination, forensic testing discovering DNA of the perpetrators on Naomi’s body, and thus her parents were arrested. A violence was brimming, the parents swearing they would continue to kill the family members who betrayed them. There was endless worry about their own and most specifically, Fran’s life, thus the grandparents did the only thing they believed was right. The pair took Naomi’s body home and began working to forge her a new. Extensive work was done which took months until finally, they finished making the body of a fighter. Somebody needed to keep Fran safe and teach her about the world, and the grandparents believed Naomi was a proper twice.
Upon returning to Earth, Naomi returned a more aggressive and angry soul than expected, the young woman finding her parents despicable. At first, Naomi was in a rage, but her grandparents soothed her and explained the situation, stating she was to take Fran out of the province to keep her safe. There was hesitation, but Naomi agreed that evening, it was explained she returned and they would be leaving. The grandparents were hoping their parents would never discover that Naomi was reborn as a golem, thus making Fran’s guardian an unknown factor for them to handle. When they left, Naomi’s destination became Lorsette, Newfoundland where she settled quite comfortably in the outskirts. Through fear, she created a gang called the Battle Axes which became her new family and the people she trusted to protect her sister. As time went on, she trained in fighting, even getting an axe forged to become the proper leader of the group; her army was set, prepared to protect one another at all costs. Nowadays, she waits for the possible revenge to ensue should her parents attempt to track Fran down. Each day she trains, creates fear, feeds off it and repeats in order to survive and protect her sister.

As a result, it will survive more torment then a regular axe.
