Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
You wanted everything to work out because deep down, you absolutely loved him. Could you truly have acted everything was alright? The disinterest manifesting after a single lustful action, an exploration you could never imagine. In the end, he turned away, abandoned you and left your heart a cold and cynical place. Placing your heart on the line is difficult and frightening, the fear of rejection makes you shake, heart beating faster as quick-paced breaths leave your lips. Never again... not until your heart finally mends.
Years ago you loved somebody, believed him to be valuable, irreplaceable, somebody who you are destined to stay alongside. When you were together, you never realized what he truly desired. Something physical, dirty and shared between people as something described as pleasurable. You failed to realize what he wanted, how he viewed you as merely a fling and nothing more. Those sweet, flirtatious compliments were empty, void of truthful emotions. When he abandoned you, you wished for his return, however, you since realized he was somebody not destined to stand beside you. You turned numb in an effort to save the remains of your feelings from the pain, but was it truly wise of you? Leaving was smart and numbing keeps the pain away, but also wards away those who truly love you.
Concern outweighed awkwardness and personal anxiety as Desmond stepped forward to follow Zachary. Leaving the hospital grounds in this condition without the assistance of another individual appeared foolish in the nephilim's eyes, thus he placed effort into catching up to his crush. A strain was evident from the previous situation, the ginger still planning on avoiding the topic of the single text message which perturbed Desmond being shoved aside in hopes of assisting the attractive angel. Unfortunately, the notion was harder to accomplish because of the nervousness he felt with each step that carried him closer to Zachary's side. There was a rapid thumping in his chest, heart continued to rattle against his ribcage, the situation with his crush making it extremely difficult for him to maintain a sense of tranquillity. Breaths became faster as the ginger-haired nephilim became closer to the doctor, an endless amount of anxieties plaguing his mind. Eventually, Desmond managed to get behind the attractive angel, worry available in his green eyes. At the mention of heading home, the nephilim's eyes softened, however, his heart rate increased wildly when he noticed Zachary reaching towards him.
[break][break]
Arms were moving towards him, Desmond's heart beating rapidly as his breaths became more irregular. The intense fear of being pulled into a tight embrace resulted in the nephilim taking a few quick steps back. Despite his trust in Zachary, the man with a broken heart was not prepared for physical touch.
[break][break]
"I'm sorry," he responded quietly.
[break][break]
When Zachary made his promise, the nephilim gave a small nod, although, he failed to soothe himself from hearing those precious words. There were prayers that Zachary would eventually change his mind and decide on remaining in the hospital where he would be safer. Quietly, Desmond listened, surprise flickering across his anxious expression when his crush requested for him to walk with him home. For a moment, the ginger stared at the angel before slowly nodding in agreement to taking him home; he could not allow Zachary to return home alone. After the horrible injuries the angel obtained, Desmond would feel guilty for forcing him to go alone. Slowly, Desmond walked passed, keeping his distance as he passed through the room's threshold to lead Zachary home.
The stunning realization which transcended over Desmond left his speechless, worried and completely anxious as he silently remained station in his chair. Soulmates were a destined bond, one which could rarely occur because of the magic's peculiar nature, although, what the notion involved concerned the nephilim. The manipulative nature of his ex-boyfriend resulted in an intense fear of romantic relationships. Those painful memories of the breakup texts as he was thrown away like trash. All Leon had desired was the pleasure from a night of intercourse and never cared for the consequences his partner faced. A deep breath entered Desmond’s lungs, the nephilim holding it briefly before exhaling; he was genuinely lost. There were no doubts he cared immensely for Zachary, it became the reason why he enjoyed spending time with him. The attractive angel was sweet and benevolent whenever the opportunity presented itself. There were even moments where he displayed the utmost patience and caution towards Desmond’s issues about being touched by others. Alas, despite these positive traits which resulted in the ginger’s gravitation to him, he remained extremely nervous. While the anxieties raged, they worsened from his endless worries about Zachary. After receiving the stitches without a proper numbing agent, he was trembling.
[break][break]
Each brief glance in his peripherals allowed Desmond to notice the shaking. Admittedly, the ginger-haired scout believed Zachary’s ex-girlfriend to be an absolute monster. The woman was willing to sadistically attack the angel, torturing him despite the man being the father of her child. Another soft sigh escaped Desmond’s mouth, his thoughts were interrupted by the kindly thanks Zachary provided. Immediately, the nephilim’s heart began beating rapidly as his breath quickened.
[break][break]
“N-no problem,” he responded, words stumbling from his mouth.
[break][break]
Quietness returned afterwards, the ginger uncertain on how to interact with his crush. The silence allowed the sounds of movement to reach Desmond’s ears. Surprise touched the nephilim’s countenance as his green eyes flitted over to Zachary. Immediately, his eyes widened as he realized the doctor was foolishly trying to leave on his own. Hastily, the scout rose from his chair, following the attractive angel despite the nervousness which made his stomach churn.
[break][break]
“Zac?” He began quietly, hints of worry in his tone. “Where are you going?”
[break][break]
Slowly, Desmond approaches his beloved crush as he attempted to leave. While the nephilim remained on the flustered side, he worried about Zachary intensely; allowing him to leave on his own after being attacked by his ex was risky.
A sense of calmness finally encompassed Desmond when the decision was made without any complaints from his beloved crush. There remained a harsh phantom pain in the nephilim's arm which increased his worries for the position Zachary was currently in. Certainly, medical professionals could have administered anesthetic prior to beginning the stitching required to seal the angel's wound. The unimaginable pain they invoked on his precious crush was unnecessary and abhorrent in the ginger's opinion, which resulted in Desmond shaking his head in dismay. Pain proceeded to pulse through the scout's arm despite his efforts to banish it through squeezing the infected skin; what could possibly be happening? Several injuries had transpired, the nephilim feeling every instance of Zachary receiving a wound. Thoughts were racing as Desmond returned to silence, attempting to fixate his mind on what could potentially result in these pains being shared between them. Several notions entered the nephilim's mind, none settling correctly as a concrete reason for the manifestation of these pains until his mind finally reached a breakthrough.
[break][break]
Soulmates were a concept Desmond oftentimes refused to think about thoroughly after his heart was shattered by his ex-boyfriend, Leon. Hastily, the nephilim's eyes flitted towards Zachary, lingering as realization flowed over him similar to a waterfall. Immediately, the ginger-haired scout's heart began palpitating immensely at the thought of him somehow discovering his soulmate, the notion of the individual being the incredible angel surprising him. Breaths became irregular as the nephilim abruptly glanced away, eyes locking with the tiled floor as he questioned his sudden beliefs. Fate certainly would have picked a better man for Zachary to inevitably fall in love with, right? Alas, his mind pondered the text message sent to him, those three special words reserved for those who someone finds most precious. Through text, Zachary had managed to confess his feelings and Desmond knew he could reciprocate those emotions. Were they truly destined to be together? A deep breath was taken, the ginger's uncertainties remaining from his intense fear of love. Love was a rose with beautiful, soft petals and a delightful scent, however, it was also filled with thorns which could prick a foolish finger.
[break][break]
When the pain killers were administered, Desmond noticed the pain suddenly fade from his arm. The stitching and bandaging proceeded, but the nephilim refused to look as he battled with his thoughts and emotions. A few minutes passed until he heard the doctor's words, a sense of relief filling the nephilim when the man stated he was finished stitching Zachary up, however, the anxieties promptly returned. Once finished their job, the medical staff would inevitably take their leave, which left Desmond alone with his crush. Despite possessing plenty of time, the ginger failed to devise a sentence, thus he remained quiet and unsure of how to initiate a conversation with his crush.
Concern remained evident on Desmond’s face as he proceeded to fret for Zachary’s safety. Joining the TRS was a decision the nephilim wished his crush never decided on taking, especially in field work. The dangerous environments which the delightful angel could be thrust into were worrisome; particularly for the scout who was well-versed in the frightening reality of these perils. There was a previous incident where the doctor got injured by the razor-sharp claws of a medium risk terror. Memories of the terrifying carnage made Desmond tremble, the thought of those claws ripping into Zachary’s flesh becoming permanently ingrained in his mind. The bloody scene from the creature tearing into the flesh of his back, his white wings tainted by the disturbing colours of blood. While field medics received combat training alongside lessons on how to protect themselves, nothing could cease the endless worry the nephilim felt for his crush. Fighting was a dangerous game, the ginger-haired scout being thoroughly acquainted with the notion after several incidents of being wounded, one even being severe. Unfortunately, Desmond failed to further voice his concerns on account of the flustered emotions. The nephilim wished he could sweep Zachary off his feet, display his love and command him to remain in the hospital where he would be safe.
[break][break]
Briefly, Desmond’s eyes flitted towards Zachary as the other doctor prepared to stitch the abhorrent wound on his arm. These were the instances where the nephilim wished he could break curses, but he failed when it arrived in breaking the magic. The notion weighed heavily on Desmond’s mind, especially considering this was the second instance of a cursed weapon harming his beloved crush. In complete honesty, the ginger-haired scout felt the upsetting embrace of failure hanging heavy around his shoulders. A soft sigh escaped his lips as his green eyes slowly returned to the tiled floor. An acute pain entered Desmond's arm, resulting in the nephilim hastily glancing towards Zachary and the doctor, a frown touching his face. Based upon the stitching already being prepared, there would no anesthetic used to numb the painful sensation. When the stitching properly began, the nephilim's hand immediately went to his arm, matching the location where his crush was receiving his. Immediately, the ginger gritting his teeth while he squeezed his arm tightly, his concerns for Zachary's well-being increasing.
[break][break]
Finally, the phantom pains ceased, Desmond, glancing over as the doctor inquired about the possibility of pain killers. There was silence, the nephilim praying to hear his crush request something to numb the pain, but there was no answer. Instead of providing Zachary with an open opportunity to answer, the ginger-haired scout turned slightly towards the other doctor.
[break][break]
"I think that's a better idea," he stated quietly. "I don't think he had been awake while getting stitches..."
[break][break]
Hope filled Desmond that Zachary would decide not to counter his words. The nephilim could sense the tremendous pain his crush was enduring, thus even something to numb the pain was believed to be a better choice. Genuinely, the ginger found it foolish to proceed with a tedious operation without any anesthetic, the drug possessing its multiple uses and creating a calmness for patients.
Handling the intense emotions manifested by Zachary's presence was always difficult for Desmond considering the extreme nature of the symptoms. Heart palpitations were consistent from the nephilim's flustered emotions accompanied by the intense heat radiating from his reddened face. The mere presence of the incredible angel influenced these emotions and the ginger already knew they would persist throughout the interaction; if it could even be granted the title. Whenever Desmond gained the courage to speak, the words escaped his mouth in a pathetic squeak, his endless nervousness in gaining the opportunity to interact with Zachary being evident. Desperately, the ginger-haired scout had attempted to counter the reasons for Zachary joining the TRS, however, the words the angel stated in response resulted in his heart fluttering. The devoted healer provided his reason, mentioning his oath to assist others and save them from the cold embrace of death; an admirable notion. These promises were further proof of the benevolence his crush held, Desmond occasionally wondering how he managed to become close to somebody this amazing; the answer was beyond him.
[break][break]
There were instances where the nephilim worried the dark-haired doctor's kindness could potentially result in him receiving injury or a slew of other negative outcomes. The cynical ginger knew there were plenty of individuals willing to take advantage of somebody's goodwill, ultimately making kindness the person's downfall. A silence drifted over Desmond, the scout taking a deep breath before gaining the nerve to speak.
[break][break]
"I worry about you sometimes, Zac... I don't want you to get hurt or killed," Desmond mumbled quietly, still unable to glance at his crush.
[break][break]
Sincerity graced Desmond's words, the ginger genuinely desiring nothing horrible to befall Zachary. Merely admitting he cared about the angel's well-being was a difficult accomplishment, his heart promptly pounding against his sternum afterwards while red engulfed his fair complexion. All the scout desired was his crush's safety during all pursuits, especially considering how significant Zachary became in Desmond's life. The sudden chuckle resulted in an embarrassed blush blossoming on the nephilim's face, his crush's explanation creating a nervous laugh. While the attempt of a joke sounded amusing, the ginger remained immensely nervous, making it difficult to provide an amused chuckle. There was no answer, Desmond being uncertain how to answer the teasing inquiry his crush made. Eventually, the sounds of footsteps reached the ginger's ears, resulting in him going mute while the other doctor entered to tend to Zachary's injury. Quietly, the scout listened to the conversation between the pair, his worries fixating on the pain his crush could potentially go through. Alas, his thoughts were shattered when he listened to Zachary's comment.
[break][break]
There was something about his crush desiring closeness to him resulted in Desmond's heart immediately palpitating immensely. The redness increased on his cheeks, the nephilim shrugging his shoulders in a desperate attempt to hide his red face.
There was a tightness in Desmond’s chest as his heart proceeded rapidly beating. The nurses were still absent, resulting in the current situation was nerve-racking for the nephilim. Breaths remained deep as the scout stared at the tiled floor, thankful about Zachary failing to notice the bright red which painted itself across his cheeks. Courage was difficult to gain when handling his crush, thus his green eyes remained away from the angel. The notion of the handsome doctor witnessing the bright hues of red across his cheeks would only worsen the situation. There was already awkwardness between himself and Zachary because of the single text message, neither willing to speak about the sudden text. Alas, there remained a tense conversation between the two, a nervousness clinging to Desmond with each passing minute. While Zachary spoke to him, the ginger-haired scout was partially distracted by the sounds of his rapidly beating hard and quick breathing. Numerous things were whirling around his mind, particularly his worries for Zachary's health both currently and the future alongside the text message which could be invoked at any period.
[break][break]
Admitting to the deep-rooted emotions would be nearly impossible for Desmond, the man admittedly admiring Zachary for becoming capable of stating those three bold words. The angel proceeded to voice his reasons for wishing to join the TRS field medicine team. When Zachary explained it would provide him with the opportunity to assure he was, Desmond's heart skipped a beat and blush increased in intensity. Promptly, the nephilim turned to better face the wall, self-conscious about the attractive angel managing to bear witness to the redness of his cheeks. Evidently, the dark-haired man remained concerned about his health, which made Desmond feel cared about by the kindly doctor; it provided more evidence of Zachary's love. The idea brought an anxious stomachache to the scout who consistently worried about his precious crush. On the field, there would be plenty of opportunities for Zachary's bloodthirsty ex to potentially harm or even murder him. While field medics were constantly in dire need, Desmond remained concerned for the doctor's safety, especially considering his ex actively hunted him.
[break][break]
"But Zac... your ex... what... what if you get hurt?" Desmond questioned nervously.
[break][break]
The silence was maintained through gently biting his lower lip, the scout attempting to avoid confessing the emotions he harboured for Zachary. There would arrive a time, but currently, the nephilim remained beyond anxious and too flustered to admit he possessed similar feelings for the doctor.
