Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
An orange hue engulfed the wilderness, the trees swaying softly against the warm autumn wind. It was nearly sunset, yet tourists, adventurers, and wanders of all types still made their way through the meadow, oblivious to the danger that lurks beneath the brush and flora. Calipseye, was hiding off trail, deep into the woods, covered in grass and leaves. She waited calmly, her blue eyes reflecting the orange hue of the sun.
'No one is going to come. Look somewhere else.' A voice in her head spoke plainly to her, Calipseye completely ignoring it, replying out loud. "You're too impatient! I'm absolutely sure someone will come!" Cali growled to herself, scaring away a nearby bird. 'Do you want to eat?' "Well, yeah!" 'Then go somewhere else.' Still not listening to the the nameless voice, Cali stayed put, much to the voice's annoyance. In silence they remained, until she heard the rustling of footsteps approaching them. Getting excited, Calipseye began to shake and twitch, her mouth watering. With the nameless voice's guidance, she got into position, slowly moving through the bushes to get a better look of her prey, only being able to see a brief flash of legs.
'Ready.' The girl, at the voice's command, began to transform, her legs vanishing, fading, and twisting into something else. The leaves around her hiding spot rustled violently as she Calipseye had her sights set on whoever was in front of her. 'Set.' A few seconds later, a swarm of long, scaly, serpentine-like masses emerged from under her gown, taking the place of her legs. Quickly, four heads rolled downwards, appearing one by one beside her shoulders, three of their sharp teeth being bare, ready to attack, the fourth one keeping it's mouth closet, only watching cautiously. This head was the nameless voice that was directing Calipseye, not caring for the current target. Calipseye still remained somewhat hidden, despite her position being compromised. She didn't care.
The fourth wolf head nudged both Calipseye and the other heads, signaling to 'Go'. With childish elegancy, as in none at all, Cali emerged from the bushes, each of the wolf heads' gaze looking at their target. It was a duo, two young men, both now screaming, now trying to run away. Calipseye used her four bodies to slither over to the duo, blocking their path with one head, and constricting them with the other three, all while laughing to herself cruelly. The peaceful, warm autumn wind was replaced with blood curling screams and crunches as Cali continuously bit into her victims.
Soon, the nice warmth of the wilderness was restored, Cali now in the middle of a pool of blood, staring lifelessly at the remains of the men. Wiping her mouth, she again heard footsteps. 'Oh! Another one, another one!' A cheerful voice yelling out in her head. Calipseye, annoyed, silenced the voice by hitting herself in her head coldly. Looking down at her blood stained dress, she simply began walking towards the footsteps, immediately forgetting about what she literally just did. Stopping a good distance away from the bloody scene, she waited for the footsteps to come into view.
The main wolf personalities' names: Furor = rage Dolorem = depression Puer = childish Calipseye = serious / older Unnamed = Shy + every other personality
Despite her hostility towards almost everything that breaths, Calipseye loves dressing up, having a total of sixteen different outfits for various oddly specific occasions at her disposal. Her casual wear consists of, from head to toe, a golden circlet with jade gems embedded into it, and a long white dress with various blue highlights on all sides of the gown as well as outlining the bottom, the highlights themselves also surrounded by gold and jade. Her eyes are as blue as the sea due to her being part sea snake. Calipseye's hair is long in length, brownish orange in color. When viewed from the front, it appears short, but when viewed from the side or the back, one will see her long ponytail.
When it comes to her serpent-like side, Calipseye is an unusual/unique one. Instead of one serpentine body as Nagas do, four long, scaly bodies sprout from the bottom half of her body, each ending in a wolf-like head representing one of her five personalities, the fifth head being her own human one. Calipseye is able to crawl or slither around using all four of her "legs", as well as reverting to human legs to walk on them.
Calipseye can easily be summed up with one word: unstable. At one moment, she can be very calm, using her talented mind to figure out new ways to eat apples (yes, apples), however at the drop of a hat she will be ready to devour you, your family, friends, and the world itself if she can, feeling zero regret. It's because of her past she is mentally unstable, however to anyone that somehow makes a friend out of her, she will be the last one to let go of them, and most likely will begin following them around as if she was their familiar, the danger of her snapping on them still evident however.
Calipseye is able to easily shift between her human, female form to her partial four boded monster snake form with relative ease, usually taking thirty seconds to do so, an upgrade from her taking a full two minutes earlier in her life. During her transformation, she is at her weakest until at least one head appears, and she regains more of her senses. When partial transformation is complete, she appears as a quad-bodied and headed snake creature with four wolf heads on each extra body, her human upper half still showing on top of it all. Cali is able to bring out any number of wolf heads she would like instead of all four at once. Each wolf head is sentient and acts independently from Calipseye when not being directly controlled.
If one head is severely damaged, Calipseye will be unable to move until it has healed (she needs all 4 bodies to move around in her shifted form). If all heads are damaged, she will revert to her humanoid form, the injuries transferring to her body (arms/legs), unable to shift again until being medically treated.
[Poison Manipulation] Strong Ability / Mastered
By using venom glands on the roof of her mouth, Calipseye is able to produce and control venom.
While in human form, her magic filled venom acts as both a painful, strong paralysis agent that slowly stops motion in the victim's legs and arms, as well as a tracker, letting her know where they run off to by oozing venom from open glands and sores that appear on the skin, something she can track. Calipseye is able to completely control the effects of this venom, stopping the harmful effects altogether if she wished.
While partially transformed, a bite from her will only increase the pain receptors of the victim. Subsequent bites will further increase their pain receptors until, after being bitten five times, a finger flick will feel like being shot. If the victim already has poison or venom that didn't come from Calipseye inside them, a bite from her will cleanse them, replacing what was there with her own venom's effects. It is advised you avoid getting bit by the wolf heads.
Calipseye's mastery over her venom, as well as producing it in her mouth/body, grants her immunity to any and all kinds of venom/poisons, instead they have the same effect as her drinking water.
[Magic Tasting/Sensing] Weak Ability / Mastered
Due to her being part four-headed wolf and having a natural affinity to magic, Calipseye is able to taste magic when it is around or near her, either by using her tongue and licking, or sniffing the air while partially transformed. By doing this, she can tell where exactly magic is being used, how much is being used, how much magic is left in something/someone, and how strong it is.
If tasting/sniffing too many types or sources of magic, it will overload her senses, causing a headache. This however does not occur if she is using her tongue to lick sources of magic, instead causing a toothache.
backstory
[Warning: Abuse, Suicide, Neglect]
Who, or what, the hell was she? A question she didn’t know and most likely never will know, her memory only extending to the after the first eight years of her life. She knew nothing before then, not even how she knew her own name.
Calipseye, as a young child no older than eight, was found by a Naga family near a river, eating raw fish, being abandoned by her actual biological parents for seemingly no good reason. Taking her in as their own, she was now the newest member of the Izunaru family. She said not a single word, nor was she disrespectful, being told not to by her family.
Little did she know, the Izunaru family only took her in as a replacement. Days prior, some unholy force drove a few locals to insanity, causing them to become enraged and attack everything in their sight, killing three Nagas. One of the unfortunate to pass being the Izunaru’s daughter. Calipseye arriving shortly after was seen as a blessing by the father, and a perverted mockery by the mother.
On her ninth birthday, she broke her short-lived silence, inquiring to her mother about the whereabouts of her “real parents”, much to her mother’s irritation, slapping her and engraining into her head that they are her parents now by beating some sense into her, only relenting when stopped by her hubby. This moment of pain was when young Calipseye underwent her first partial transformation, a long scaly body forming from her lower half, taking the place of her feet… however the naga that gathered around her was mortified, seeing a wolf head at the end of her body, Calipseye herself at a loss for words. She thought she knew what she was, as she’s seen her beloved step-father do the same thing quickly, however she was not expecting this.
Silence ensued before being broken by a scream, one of the locals retrieving an ax, ready to correct her problem. Drawing closer, they were stopped by her father, firmly putting them in their place after a prolonged, bloody fight. Meanwhile, the mother was busy staring in disbelief at Calipseye as she named the ‘abomination’ “Furor”, fear, named after the fit of rage she saw just moments ago. After the incident, the Izunaru had a family meeting, Calipseye included. She knew what the topic was going to be, but asked still if they were going to be discussing what was for dinner tonight.
The first question asked as she thought, was where she came from, and what she was. She had answer; she didn’t remember. Her mother stood up, hissing at her to tell the truth, or have it beaten out of her. Turning in fear to her father, hoping for interference, he said nothing. Calipseye again responded with she didn’t know. Just as the mother promised, the night was soon filled with her screams, unable to run or crawl away.
When the meeting concluded, she was sent to her room, where she slept extremely little, instead opting to change her form to gain comfort from the red-eyed Furor, crying while embracing the head. Subsequent days played out similar to the first, with someone becoming disgusted or taken back by Calipseye’s appearance, and demanding answers, only to receive none and getting punished for being difficult.
A year later, she was now ten, the people of the small village she was in was beginning to isolate the Izunaru family from the others because of Calipseye’s appearance. The schooling she received came from her father, and her entertainment came from Furor at night. This day was special, however, as after her home lessons, she would be allowed to join the others in a gathering for her now-deceased mother.
She passed late last night while everyone else was out swimming for a feast. Ruled a suicide, it was a grim day for the entire village. But not for Calipseye. She, so innocent, smiled the entire day, her eyes reflecting hate that burned deep into her soul. Of course, there were many that suspected her and her father as the ones that killed her, however, could prove nothing, as both were also out swimming.
During the funeral, the only eventful thing she could remember was being pampered with food: it was custom for all extra food gathered to go to the family of the deceased. With her father still in grief, she gleefully accepted the seconds, thirds, and fourths of food, munching down while the others cried, smirking when asked if she felt any sorrow. “Why should I feel something for someone who didn’t feel anything for me?”
Another year passed, and the mood of the village was extremely grim as Calipseye’s father stood on top of a wooden pedestal, his adopted daughter staring back at him with tears in her eyes. Another incident, this time the homicide of two families of three, again ruled a suicide. The villagers however were not having it. The only thing they could find as evidence was a necklace that belonged to the father of Calipseye, and for them, that was enough to convict him. He knew they wanted Calipseye as well, however had literally nothing against her.
Evening air-filled homes as the blue-eyed girl screamed for help, being held back by others quite easily, her father burning quietly a short distance away from her. The villagers hoped that would be insensitive enough for her to behave, and stop her murderers, still thinking she was the cause of every last one. In a way, it worked.
Months since the execution passed, Calipseye was now living confined in a makeshift prison near the water. She received no visitors, little food, and little water, all being cautious as they lived out their lives the best they could. Meanwhile, she was busy making a new friend. Sometime between her confinement and the execution, two more bodies emerged as a result of her attempt to partially transform, as the other kids around her did. Of course, she named them “Dolorem”, sorrow, and “Puer”, child, the two most recent major emotions she has experienced. Now having three heads to comfort her during the harsh nights, Calipseye felt content.
Weeks now passing, and the village leaders came together. Calipseye was not what she seemed to be, if that wasn’t evident to all the Naga in the village by now then they would never see it. Deciding on what to do while she talked to herself in her prison, they elected on what they considered the perfect punishment before feeling a surge of dread before it passes, all of the serpents smirking and cackling, knowing they have just found inspiration for an even better, more perfect punishment for the fake naga.
Knowing that death would be far too easy, painless, and quick for what the imposter has done, they ensured she would never die through a curse. Throughout that night, Calipseye was tortured before the curse was applied, as she accidentally killed a young Naga child during their meeting, Calipseye herself seemingly unphased, cold, and emotionless; her callous personality talking over through the ordeal. With the curse applied, they could then begin her eternal punishment, ensuring that if they did harm her, it was not fatal.
New Years and Calipseye now stood in the middle of the place she called home, poking at a corpse lying around, her entire body a mangle of scars and deep cuts. Days prior, another final head emerged after what she described as ‘Red Day’. On Red Day, she was still inside her prison, however instead of the rare meal she expected, numerous amounts of people entered, surrounding her, mostly male, she noted, with few females present, all with disgusting grins on their faces.
She couldn’t remember anything else afterward, only remembering the feeling of emptiness that lingered. Because of that emptiness, she didn’t feel like naming the final head, finding any name she thought of unfitting. Stopping her relentless poking at the fully transformed naga corpse, she studied it, wondering why she was unable to fully transform into a snake as well. Wasn’t she one? Shaking away the thought, she fell to her knees, her face blank of expression as she realized she didn’t know how she got here. How did she escape the prison? Laying on the ground in the middle of the dead, she thought nothing of it, falling asleep surprisingly easy, before waking to move to a warmer location, her body becoming colder as night fell.
She was now officially twelve now and now resided in the wilderness, getting her food from unsuspecting tourists that frequent the area, learning more and more about herself with each passing day. There were days she’d lose the progress she made, forgetting everything that happened hours before, but always ended up being reminded. Calipseye was beginning to become somewhat known around Lorsette, overhearing visitors being warned of something inside the wilderness, something dangerous. Every time, she would respond in a gleeful tone ‘that’s me!’ before slithering back into the treeline, the fact of her being a predatory killer never crossing her mind.
The clothing she wore seen better days, and the only time she didn’t blindly attack any who drew near was when her mood intervened, her sorrowful and childish sides innocently allowing people to venture near, said people sometimes giving her extra food and clothing, to her gratitude.
Currently, Calipseye still wanders the wilderness, doing anything her heart desires, spending her time with her four friends, technically all herself, counting the days down until she gets bored, and moves to another location.
misc
- While standing in her shifted form, Calipseye's height can reach around 10 feet 9 inches (not including her own height). While in humanoid form, Cali's normal height is 4 feet 6 inches.
- Has cursed immortality from a village of Nagas; is unable to age, however can die from other means (fatal wounds, guns, etc.)
- Calipseye has had a run in with a reaper, narrowly avoiding dying by its hands, and is now terrified of the species
- Calipseye likes water, and prefers the water over the land most of the time.. despite having a bad habit of staying underwater for too long
- Her five different personalities are: "empty"/uncaring, childish/energetic, anger, shy/quiet, and sorrow/depression. Each one has it's own likes and dislikes, and is represented by one of the four heads apart of her partial transformation.
- Calipseye's nickname is Cali
- Cali named each of her heads to attempt to keep track of how many personalities she has unknowingly. Not all of her personalities even know their names
- Cali sucks at walking or running on human legs, often tripping on her own two (or four) legs, getting frustrated, personality dependent
- Fun fact: Cali's current body count is 88, not counting any Nagas
The main wolf personalities' names: Furor = rage Dolorem = depression Puer = childish Calipseye = serious / older Unnamed = Shy + every other personality
