Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Greetings, members! As per usual, we have started weaving in new species to the site for members to enjoy! After some attemtps of being extra productive, we have 10 new species arriving to TDOM today for member use alongside some updates to pre-existing species in hopes of helping others get what they desire from a species! We have 3 new undead species, 4 new earth species, 1 new heaven species and 2 new hell species for your enjoyment! [break][break] Devils: In request, devils have received a second element, which is water manipulation. With this, their natural ability will be underwater breathing. [break][break] Kitsunes: Kitsunes will gain two more elements to their list, these elements being darkness and light. Darkness manipulating kitsunes will gain the addition of night vision and light manipulating kitsunes gain holographic projection.

[attr="class","adsp"] Revered as servants to the living, jiangshis have long worked towards serving their masters. They are among the rare undead not considered a feared creature, believing to be benevolent servants since some return because of wishes to help those they left behind. However, these contracted creatures have been cursed on previous occasions to return contracted to the individual cursing them. Under other circumstances, the contract is a magical agreement between the jiangshi and the individual contracting them. Jiangshis are capable of: force field creation, healing factor (natural), enhanced senses (natural), telepathy, telekinesis and blood manipulation. These creatures have been known to be capable of sensing their master’s pain. [break][break] Under circumstances of curses, these creatures are unable to telepathically communicate with others except their master. They are required to drink blood to maintain their survival, or else they will grow weaker over time. This can be animal or humanoid, but cannot be their own. Similarly, they are at risk of bleeding out quickly, meaning significant damage can result in them dying from bleeding out. With these creatures being considered servants, they can find it extremely difficult to disobey the commands of their master. While this is not full control, jiangshi can be easily persuaded by the individual they are contracted to, resulting in many instances of being abused and manipulated by their contractors. The contracts can be broken, however, with the same recipe as familiars, it can be difficult to collect the ingredients. To break a contract, one must gather the necessary ingredients for the spell:
A scale from each type of dragon, given willingly
A drop of blood from both an angel and a demon, given willingly
A drop of blood from both master and familiar
[break][break] Contracts can be broken without the blood of the original master, however, must require the blood of the new master to be provided. Breaking these contracts will drain the jiangshi, putting them and the original master at risk of death should they not be properly cared for in the aftermath. This is from the tearing apart of two connected souls. [break][break] Jiangshis have limited traits exhibited, making them near impossible to spot. While some may exhibit signs of their death, there are instances where this does not always appear. Their souls appear subtly bigger and somewhat inflamed, however, they have been easily mistaken as other species or hidden via curses by their master. Special thanks to Finnegan for creating the original contract breaking system that I wanted to implement again and thanks to Zac for suggesting the species. [attr="class","adsp"] It is said that the ancestry of luciae came from a mountain kingdom, where the spirits of the people were bonded to the wolves and the skies of that kingdom. Usually creatures of peace-keeping, the luciae are usually seen as a symbol of faith in those around you. Because of their ancient roots and ties to the sky, the wolf form of these beings are always painted in the sky that they were born under. From a fur coat painted black and scattered with white and silver like a night sky full of stars, to the shifting and colorful woven colors of an aurora borealis. [break][break] Being a mainly healing and support creature, the luciae’s abilities are mainly complimentary to that. Luciae can cease the aging process, shift into a sky-themed wolf form, have a natural passive calming presence to them, empathy (natural), healing, enhanced senses (natural), wing manifestation, charms, enhanced speed in canine form and enhanced stamina. [break][break] Unfortunately due to their receptiveness given by their naturally empathetic nature, if they feel too strong of negative feelings themselves, they are prone to becoming sick. The sick sensation can become intensified or last longer if their empathy picks up on strong negative emotions from those around them as well. [break][break] It can be easy to detect a luciae if you are familiar with what to look for. They often have bright, or unnaturally colored hair which has caused many to try to dye it or mask it with purchased hexes or charms. The reason these traits may be hidden is because they are often prized for their unique fur and their calming affects, leading to them being captured for said fur or to serve as servants or glorified pets due to their calming presence. They can also display traits such as ears or a tail, and when they are stressed or sick, may grow the sharper canines of a wolf. [break][break] Written & Created by Kitsu

[attr="class","adsp"] From the beginning, pegasi have been known as speedy messengers and protectors of the skies. These creatures can soar high above the clouds, treading through the skies and swooping down from above. This has been their use through the War of Traitors with some even taking the position of steads for other species. These creatures are capable of: pegasus shifting, air manipulation, weather manipulation, wing manifestation, enhanced speed, enhanced stamina (natural) and enhanced senses (natural). [break][break] Similar to their unicorn cousins, pegasi tend to be extremely weak to injuries. These wounds can cause extreme struggles and potentially ground them. In the case of pegasi, electricity is among their most feared weaknesses. Being electrocuted can cause them to crash or suffer from temporary immobilization. Their recovery period from being shocked takes longer than any other injuries. [break][break] These creatures are difficult to detect, the only sign being when they have more unique pelts with wings, however, they have been mistaken as types of bird shifters before. The easiest method to detect them is when they are shifted into their pegasus form.

[attr="class","adsp"] A type of shifter long associated with the realm of nature, these creatures are known for having deep connections to nature. They are believed to be loyal guardians of forests, lakes and other bodies of nature. They are said to protect Earth’s resources and assist the environment in surviving through the years despite the developments of man. These creatures are known for being capable of: plant manipulation, animal shifting (only one animal form), plant growth, zoopathy, camouflage, purify water, enhanced senses (natural) and poison immunity (natural). [break][break] Despite being immune to death by poison, penghous are extremely weak to pollution. It causes them to become sick and they can become weaker and weaker. In these circumstances, most require exposure to healthy nature environments. These creatures can additionally not tolerate fire and smoke. While the rays of the sun brings them comfort, they are extremely flammable, making fire a danger around these creatures. Smoke operates similarly to pollution, making the penghou sick, however, over exposure can result in death. [break][break] In human form, penghous are impossible to detect unless they have animal traits showing. Even then, they cannot always be distinguished. The best method to detect a penghou is when they are shifted, for their animal forms sometimes grow small pieces of fauna, such as mushrooms, leaves and even sparse cactus spines at times. Their pelts can sometimes have unique colourings, such as shades of green. These creatures can cease the ageing process.

[attr="class","adsp"] Earthen creatures are known for bringing good dreams to those around them. They are renowned as marvellous creatures, oftentimes praised for giving positive dreams to those who require them. However, some are more ambiguous with their uses, at times scaring or pranking people inside their dreams. Sandpeople are capable of: sand manipulation, dream manipulation, flight, cloaking and night vision (natural). [break][break] When exposed to nightmares or bad dreams, sandpeople can grow weaker and weaker the longer they expose themselves to those elements. While they will not die from this weakness, their abilities will be hindered. Additionally, being blasted with intense water can result in weakening sandpeople as well. Well rain and small dosages of water can survive, anything intense will weaken them substantially. [break][break] There are few methods to see sandpeople, however, they are most noticeable when using their sandpeople. Their sands gain a soft, glowing hue to their golden colour.

[attr="class","adsp"] Renown as healers who have died, shades are known for being undead fixated on mending the wounds of others. It is believed those with hearts fixated on healing and helping others will return as shades to assist the living or those by their own choosing. Many revere them as peaceful souls, however, this is not always the case in spite of the reasons; people abandon their trades or choose their poison after all. The abilities of a shades consist of: healing, charms, cloaking, blessings, night vision (natural), enhanced senses (natural) and shadow teleportation. [break][break] These creatures are tragically served with an abilities set fixated on being supportive to other people, making their offensive capability from an abilities standpoint limited. Additionally, shades are easily disoriented by flashing lights or sudden bright ones. This can stun them and cause them to shy away from pain infiltrating their eyes. These can act as distractions and deter focus from their abilities. [break][break] At times, shades can have wispy clouds of shadows wrapping around them, though, this is regularly only noticed in the presence of moonlights. [attr="class","adsp"] Through the years, unicorns have become known as creatures geared towards supporting others. In some cultures, unicorns are known for protecting forests. With their species symbolizing innocence and healing, many believe unicorns are creatures of excellence and greatness. Alas, not all unicorns follow these values with some slipping through and becoming something to be feared. The abilities of a unicorn consist of: unicorn shifting, healing, blessings, enhanced speed, enhanced jumping, telepathy, zoopathy (natural), and enhanced senses (natural). [break][break] These creatures are known for being weaker during the hours of the evening. Extensive exposure to darkness causes them to feel sleepier and tends to wear on their abilities if they fail to sleep. Furthermore, these creatures must return to unpolluted forests and other natural areas to keep their powers restored every 10 years. Failure to do so will result in the unicorn weakening and potentially dying as a result. Additionally, these creatures cannot handle being heavily injured with their pain tolerance being low and their bodies unable to handle wounds. [break][break] The most defining trait of a unicorn is their singular horn. However, when they are in human form, it can be difficult to notice unless they exhibit traits of their unicorn form. [attr="class","adsp"] Messengers from the realm of Purgatory, utukku are among the few well-considered undead creatures. It is believed they returned with words unsaid, thus they spend their days delivering words from those who have passed on. They are powerful and respectable mediums, however, some have slipped from these beliefs. Their abilities consist of: seance, necromancy, enhanced memory (natural), flight and enhanced speed. [break][break] These creatures are weak to loud noises and strobing lights. Due to their memory retaining abilities being great for the sake of delivering the words of the dying, these two factors can cause disastrous headaches. Loud noises can debilitate them if they have not learned to power through. Meanwhile strobing lights will blind and quickly cause them headaches. [break][break] These creatures are difficult to detect among humans due to their appearances matching. Even their weaknesses can be mistaken as that from other creatures. However, their souls are noted as having a light fade to them. Some can notice this subtle change, however, it is only noticeable to those who can view souls.

[attr="class","adsp"] Illusions have been something xigxags have been long known for, thus, these species have been long associated with deceit. Alleged to be a mischievous creature of hell’s realm, few lay their trust in a xigxag, despite some being credible. These creatures are known for assisting through the War of Traitors with their illusions, using it to create smokes to hide their comrades from the enemy. These creatures' abilities consist of: illusion manipulation, cat shifting, enhanced speed, decoy creation, illusion awareness (natural), enhanced senses (natural) and enhanced dexterity (natural). [break][break] While these creatures are magnificent illusionists, they are unable to take many hits. An abundance of hits will weaken xigxags significantly and cause them to tire. These creatures are more geared to trickery over fighting as a result. However, their methods of illusion can be thwarted through the power of mental shields or those with higher senses than others, if they pay attention to their surroundings. [break][break] The biggest call of these creatures is their unique pelts. The pelt of every xigxag when in cat form will have rings of purple stripes. While other unique pelt colours exist, purple is a defining trait. Similarly, these cats have horns spawning from their head, lending them another unique aspect. In human form, if their ears and tails are not showing, they are nearly impossible to detect.

[attr="class","adsp"] A type of bird shifter originating from the realm of Hell, it is believed zhar-ptitsus are mischievous winged creatures attempting to pose as angels and zizes, however, this fails to be proven. These creatures are known for being larger than average birds and grow centimetres longer than peregrine falcons. This allows them to reach approximately 80 centimetres in shifted form. These creatures are capable of: bird shifting, light manipulation, fire immunity (natural), enhanced eyesight (natural), night vision (natural), enhanced lung capacity (natural), wing manifestation and enhanced speed. [break][break] Similar to many hell species, zhar-ptitsus tend to get burned by holy water. While blessings have no negative effects, holy water burns their skin and can harm their feathers to catastrophic degrees. Resulting in crash landings or failed risings. Additionally, zhar-ptitsus are not prepared to take damage, their abilities gearing them to be better at dodging and avoiding harm over anything else. [break][break] Without their wings or when not in their bird form, zhar-ptitsus appear similar to regular humans. However, when shifted they are known for their white feathers or at times fiery ones. In light, their wings will often sparkle similar to tiny crystals caught in the light.
