Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
It was a nice, peaceful night on Starlight Beach. His tired feet welcomed the cooling swell over his toes and clenched clumps of loose sand in-between them. Though the city wasn't his favorite place to be, for the beach, he made an exception to his own rule. On the occasions he took a job or two nearby, he was usually happy for the chance to just slump down and nearly fall asleep on a whim. It was such a soothing, innocent place where he could simply forget.
On a silver tray, he had also happened to bring whole bundle of his favorite crackers as well as a bottle of red wine. Salted crisps weaved nicely with the velvety taste of the lightly sweet wine. Crunching between his teeth, his long hair splayed out on the sides as he relaxed. He comforted himself on a chair while munching down on the crackers. Away further down the beach, there were a few people also admiring the view so he was not alone by himself. There were a few lights flickering and mesmerizing in the background while the half-waned moon played witness above.
On his lips, he didn't feel the need to find a thing. Other than of course, a few crumbs that he swallowed before getting caught in his throat. Coughing, he reached for and grabbed a small cup of water from the tray, using a swig or two to wash it down. There was the sounds of the waves, the idle chattering of people, and then started to play a slow waltz on a violin. Most likely for entertainment, he looked about for the source, and surely found a couple dining a whiles away. The man was dressed immaculately, strumming the bow with precision and grace. The woman he was accompanied with held a flute in her hands and entered in here and there with messy tunes.
Most likely a practice of some sort. It was jarring to listen to, the longer the flute played. The violinist was obviously talented while the woman was looking more to learn than be able to keep in sync with the sound. After a couple minutes, some rude person ended up throwing sand at them when they could tolerate it no longer. It didn't escalate into a fist fight luckily, but the couple had some choice words they weren't shy about sharing.
He sat there, as quiet as a rock, watching and just enjoying the peaceful silence and the night. Notes: XXX
Dressed in a short, black dress with a light red shawl over her shoulders. Asta's bare feet burying into the soft squishy sand as she walked along the water of starlight beach. It was a beautiful evening, the crescent moon which hung above in the night sky, surrounded by stars while colorful lights danced atop the waves of the ocean. There were some people gathered on the beach to enjoy the view as well though Asta paid them no mind.
Her flowing blonde hair was not in any particular style. She simply left it down. Her ruby red eyes seemed to sparkle in the light of the moon. Though there weren't many others on the beach, those who were seemed to notice the demon's stunning beauty. Naturally, Asta noticed the gazes of men cast upon her but, continued walking without a single pause or slowing in her pace. She certainly did not mind the attention she was receiving but since it seemed to be mostly humans gathered here, she had no interest in acknowledging it.
At some point, she heard a violin begin to play a slow waltz. It was a beautiful melody. Whoever was playing it was quite talented. Soon, the discordance sound of flute joined it, which seemed to ruin the violinist's song. So much, it hurt Asta's ears. She picked up her pace to get further away but in doing so, she tripped over something in the sand, most likely a shell of some sort and fell to the ground, face first. She quickly raised herself up and found sand stuck to her cheeks. She was completely embarrassed. She already knew she was clumsy but, not this clumsy. Even if she were an illegitimate child, she was nonetheless, a daughter of the demon king, ruler of hell. She hoped no one had witnessed her ungraceful plummet or else they may not live to see another day.
I had her trip and fall close to where Yun is lounging so they can interact. || 321 || @misha
As the couple played their song, Yun sat wordlessly until his empty thoughts were interrupted by a sudden 'plunk' and 'smack' on the sand right beside him. One of his hands went to steady his drink before his eyes turned to the other direction, spotting the blonde-haired girl who lying down close by. As the couple walked off to play their music elsewhere, Yun took a sip of his wine and then offered an outstretched hand to help her up. "Hello. Need any help there miss?"
In his relaxed mood, he didn't budge from his seat, eyeing her before taking another salted cracker from the bowl. She could've been a child; she had the face of one and though prone, looked like she wouldn't stand too tall next to him. Of course, that was only through first impressions. Leaning over the side of his chair, propping up his chin on his hand, Yun suddenly noticed that the girl seemed to be a bit red in the face and his head tilted to the side before a sudden crackling sound alerted him to crane his neck further backwards.
Where the girl had supposedly tripped, he saw an extremely large shell. Too large to be just an inanimate object. He had to squint his gaze against the moonlight itself as the shell seemed to suddenly dig itself out of the wet sand and started to get up. It moved at a snail's pace, though Yun could see that it was packing enlarged claws in front the shell had to be pretty dang hard. His lips curled at the sight, though he wasn't going to let the creature bother him. Getting up from his seat, he walked over and then quickly punted it high overhead where it skipped a few times across the water before being gobbled up by the waves.
"Are you hurt anywhere?" Yun asked with concern in his voice. Notes: XXX
As Asta wiped the sand from her cheeks, a man's deep voice called out to her and when she looked up, she saw the owner of the voice offering her a helping hand. Now, she was mortified, someone had seen her fall. Asta felt her face grow hotter from her rising embarrassment. She smacked his hand away. I'm perfectly capable of standing up on my own." She said as she quickly stood back up without any help. She shot the man a glare. She knew he was only trying to help her but, she had too much pride to accept it.
She watched the man get up from his seat and walk past her. The man punted a shelled creature into the ocean then came back over and asked Asta if she was hurt anywhere. "Hmph! As if this would be enough to hurt someone like me!" She said confidently trying to not show her embarrassment to the man before her. This man was quite tall and quite good looking. Asta eyed the man from top to bottom, his soul seemed different from that of a human's. While Asta didn't possess the power to see souls like those lowly reapers, she had some knowledge given that they were her favorite delicacy treat back home.
"Now, if you will excuse me, I shall take my le-OW!!" As soon as she tried to turn around to leave, she felt a sharp pain in her ankle. So much for acting tough. It seemed when Asta tripped and fell she injured herself. There was no way to tell if she'd just twisted it or sprained it. After all, she was a history expert, not a medical expert. All she did know was, trying to walk was extremely painful. It reminded her of the torture her half-sister used to inflict on her for fun when they were children and even though she tried to hold back, tears did form in her eyes from the pain.
Her stare was, admittedly, a bit uncomfortable. In the moment of silence that followed, her eyes seemed like she was trying to stare through him or trying to glean something else from him he knew not. His lower lip curled momentarily, trying to read her body language, but she seemed to give no hints about what was on her mind at that moment. "I see. I hope you're alright, that fall looked pretty tough to me." As if anticipating the moment, the girl almost immediately afterwards was on the ground again.
Sometimes pride was more of a handful than it was worth. Yun approached her again and calmly knelt down beside her, a little concerned and methodically beginning to examine the injury. Once he'd taken a decent look, he could see that the sprain, though probably painful, did minimal real damage. "You're lucky you didn't step on the crab's stinger or I'd have to be treating for envenomation." He held up her foot, poking the tendon and the joint a little more to find the exact point of the injury before channeling the magic through his fingertips and into her foot. As Faekin, his magic would quickly accelerate the healing process, regardless of whatever type of creature she could be. Within seconds, the sprain had been righted and the two or so minor cuts she had received had disappeared as if they had never been.
"There you go. Now this time I hope you'll accept me helping you up." He said, extending his hand one more time. Notes: XXX
Next thing she knew, the man was kneeling down beside her and seemed to be examining her injury. He then told he she was lucky she didn't step on the crab's stinger or it would have been worse. She was mortified being lectured by this person. If only he knew who she was, he wouldn't talk to her in such a manner but, that would mean revealing her identity and there was no way in hell Asta would do that. While she was trying to ignore him, he suddenly grabbed and lifted her foot. In doing so, her panties could easily be seen with the short length of her dress. Every bone in her body wanted to kick him in the face but the urge for wanting to do so, quickly faded when she realized he was using magic to heal her. Asta had gotten a couple of cuts when she fell but soon, they were gone as if they were never there.
Asta had never seen healing magic first hand but she was quite impressed. She knew certain races were capable of such a feat and given the fact it wasn't harming her meant he wasn't a being of light. Even after how rude Asta had acted towards him, he was being kind towards her. She felt a bit ashamed of herself. When the man offered his hand to help her up once more, this time she accepted it though reluctantly. However, it seemed Asta's foot wasn't ready to be stood on again so soon. When she was up, she lost her balance and fell onto the man.
The usual bluish glow that accompanied his magic was barely present, doing its job and then quickly receding out of sight. Gently, he pulled back, though admittedly his eyes did wander a bit upward from her injury. Though it was against his instilled professional ethos to take perverted glances at a patient he was supposed to be helping, particularly one who looked quite young, it was kinda hard to resist. He allowed himself only a short glance up her skirt before turning back to his task, not letting it show on his face. Not one bit; he was as serious as ever.
For the second time, he offered his hand to help her up, though it seemed that she hadn't been used to Faekin magic. Unintentionally perhaps, she put too much weight on her leg before it was ready after being healed and lost her balance. The fall bowled him over, sending the two of them into the sand. The impact luckily didn't knock over his crackers or wine, but then he found himself on his back and his arms had instinctively wrapped around her. Just as she had fallen into him, a tide suddenly came in and washed over the both of them.
Saltwater made its way up his nose, causing him to cough and struggle to get it out. His vision obscured and for a moment he wasn't conscious of where he had put his hands, wrapped around the stranger since the cold water had suddenly rushed away most of his body heat and his hands found purchase around her waist. One of his hands, in a reflex meant to push her up and keep her stationary, gripped something soft, though he was unaware of what at the moment while his vision blurred. "Are you okay, miss?"
Notes: This just gets more and more awkward. And yes, he grabbed her butt.
When she fell into him, he lost his balance and fell backwards into the sand, with Asta on top of them. Just as this occurred, a sizable wave washed over them, causing them both to be soaked and for salt water to get up their noses. Asta was mortified but soon that feeling of embarrassment would be replaced by one of anger. When they fell into the sand, the man had grabbed her derriere. Asta's face grew bright red when she realized this. Not only was her grabbing her butt, her chest was pressed up against him from their fall and her dress was completely soaked by the ocean water, the salt in it made it stick close to her skin.
"Hieee! W-where do y-you think you're p-putting your h-hands, you pervert?!" Her squeal was loud but when she asked him the following question, she lowered her voice as to not draw attention to them. She wasn't sure how to get out of this predicament she had found herself in. While she was flustered and caught off guard by his hands grabbing her rear. He had healed her sprain and tried to be nice so, perhaps it wasn't on purpose that this happened. She looked the man directly in the eyes and said; "Since you healed my injury and were kind, I shall be merciful and give you the benefit of the doubt if you can explain why your hands are currently planted on my bum. If you can't be prepared to face being burned alive for this transgression." She said in a quiet enough voice that no one else within earshot could overhear her.
Groggy and disoriented for a mere moment, Yun couldn't respond immediately as he started coughing up the leftover water in his lungs. His clothes and skin were drenched with salt and sand and he felt the air had been forced out through the fall. It took a moment for him to get his bearings and realize their position. His eyes opened wide and he realized it as he tried to move and looked down at their compromising position.
"My... apologies." Quickly, he removed his hands from her rear and placed them back at his sides, trying to move out from under her before the next tide came crashing down. He was wet and his pants and shirt all now stuck to his skin. The sand was now an annoyance and he took an arm to rub in front of his eyes to clear out all the water. "I... really didn't mean to do that. My apologies!"
Yun bowed respectfully, pulling himself up and backing away. In one motion, he pulled his sleeveless shirt off his back and began to flap it in the air. He left his pants on for the moment, though his shirt would need to dry before he would opt to head back up the beach. Once he had finished airing it out, he placed it neatly beside his tray of food and then stretched himself before wiping his eyes. Notes: oooo
The man's eyes opened wide and he quickly removed his hands from her rear to his sides while apologizing. He quickly got himself out from under her, allowing her to get up as well. When Asta was back up on her feet, she crossed her arms over her chest and glared at him but it didn't last long when he bowed to her respectfully and apologized once more, explaining to her it was an accident. "I guess I can forgive you since you were so sincere." She said while her head was turned and her cheeks flushed red. She was glad it wasn't on purpose but as usual, she couldn't be honest with how she felt. "Be grateful for my mercy. I assure you, I won't be as forgiving if you ever touch me that way again!" she said pridefully as she pointed her finger out at him. When Asta did so, she saw the man now shirtless, fanning it out.
Asta face went even redder though she did try to hide it, it wasn't too effective. She realized she was still soaked so, she muttered a few words under her breath and then Asta was engulfed in a fire for a few seconds. It was like she had spontaneously combust but the fire soon evaporated within a millisecond. Asta was not only completely unharmed, her clothes had been completely dried, and the sand that had once been stuck to her clothes was now all on the ground by her feet and had become pearls. As if what she had done was nothing out of the ordinary, she looked at him, her expression unchanged and said; "I will give you the privilege to know my name. I am Asta. Third daughter of the demon king. You may address me as 'Lady Asta'." After she introduced herself she put her hand to her hip. Since she had pretty much already given herself away to this person, she didn't feel the need to hide her true lineage. Thankfully, no one seemed to pay any mind to her or hear what she said.
"Pleased to meet you Lady Asta, third daughter of the demon king." Respectfully, Yun bowed his head and his voice was informal in tone. The announcement of her lineage did come off as a bit of a surprise, though for him it barely even registered as something to be concerned about. Not like he hadn't or had the opportunity to meet some strange figures through the years. Demons being terrible creatures was something more used for bedtime stories and tall tales. He'd seen more than his share of strange things in the TRS, what was a demon king's daughter going to hurt?
He had watched as she used her magic to rid herself of the sea water and sand, eyes faltering at having such a nifty little trick such as that. "You are free to call me Yun. I have no title to speak of I'm afraid. I'm just a citizen at the moment, but..." Seeing as how she had introduced herself upfront, it seemed fitting and fair that he should reciprocate. Tapping his chin with one thumb, he pulled away for the moment and reached into his pocket to pull out a small, walnut-sized seed and held it in the palm of an outstretched hand in front of him. "Though I don't have as many nifty tricks, my body is that of a Faekin."
In a second, the seed started to writhe and then sprouted upwards before becoming small pink-and-white flower. It was barely anything, seeing as how the saltwater and everything was hindering his magic, this was the best he could do from a low-quality plant. It then started to sprout small pods on the side, growing a bit further to add two tiny sprouts that soon blossomed. It wasn't a masterpiece nor was it as practical as her trick, but he walked over anyways. The breeze probably overwhelmed much of the flower's scent, but if you pulled up close and tried hard, you could smell the sweet and memorable fragrance of the gardenia.
The man bowed respectfully, giving his name as Yun and informing her of his lack of any sort of title. He did seem a bit surprised to learn her lineage but not too surprised. Yun claimed to be an average citizen and that while he didn't have any abilities as amazing as her's, he claimed to be a faekin. After saying so, he pulled a walnut sized seedling from his pocket and held it in his outstretched palm in front of him. In a second, the seed started to writhe and then sprouted upwards before becoming small pink-and-white flower. It wasn't much to behold but it was pretty nonetheless. It then started to sprout small pods on the side, growing a bit further to add two tiny sprouts that soon blossomed. It still wasn't all that grand but the extra blossoms only serve to add to it's beauty. Yun then walked closer to Asta. A slight breeze picked up and blew it's sweet fragrance over in Asta's direction. It wasn't overpowering in the slightest but was lovely and strong enough for her sense of smell to take it in. "My, what a wonderful little trick. It's very pretty and the scent would make an excellent floral perfume." She said as she held out her hand, assuming he planed to give it to her. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance"
