Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Silas may have agreed to lay down on the bed but he wasn't in a rush in letting go of Umberto. The grip getting tighter gave him so much comfort, the feelings were strange to him but he wanted nothing more than to remember what their life had been like before he had managed to forget it all. Umberto mentioned that he could get the album at anytime but he couldn't help but feel a great need in keeping this hug going just a little bit longer. It seemed like this hug would never come to an end and he was perfectly okay with that, feeling highly disappointed when Umberto had pulled away from him. Umberto was apologizing for possibly clinging to long, it was just so adorable. "I don't think that is possible...." He didn't want Umberto apologizing for something that he had enjoyed only moments prior. It seemed the hugging had come to an end and he would be stuck having to be alone instead of having it start up again.
When Umberto made the comment about the bed possibly making him uncomfortable he sighed slightly. "I haven't slept but I doubt the bed would make me uncomfortable." Though he wasn't aware that Umberto had made the comment mostly because they had been together, used to snuggle on it, to him it was just a normal bed. Umberto had moved away from him and he couldn't help but stare as he walked over to the drawer, opening it before pulling out the photo album. He slowly moved to the bed, unsure on if he Umberto wanted him to sit on it or lay on it, he had mentioned getting comfortable but being here was still strange to him and the feelings he felt while holding Umberto close made him feel somewhat embarrassed. He had never felt this way towards another person before, he couldn't help but wonder if it was his old self trying to give him hints to start crushing on the man that was supposedly his husband.
He kicked his shoes off before sitting on the bed, a thought had crossed his mind, though Umberto had told him to get comfortable, his clothes were dirty, being on this bed was a bad idea. He moved to stand up quickly, embarrassed by his appearance. "I think..... I should get cleaned up first...." He really badly didn't want to snuggle in his dirty clothes, not on such a nice bed or at least to him it seemed nice.
Pulling away from Silas was incredibly difficult for Umberto considering how attached he remained to his husband. There were moments where the depressed man wished he could hold is wonderful husband for days on end; Silas was everything to him. The response to his clinging apology resulted in blood rushing to the familiar's cheeks, turning them a vivid red. Immediately, a heat transcended over his face which was a familiar sensation from those years prior to his husband's death; it felt like decades since he blushed. The sudden washing of the flustered emotions slammed into him, resulting in Umberto glancing away in mild bashfulness. While the comment was splendid to hear, even reaching lengths of immense heart palpitations, the familiar found himself thrown into uncertainty. Over the years spent alongside his husband, he had grown accustomed, but the year of absence diminishing it entirely.
A faint grin traced his lips, the comment towards the bed accompanied by the flustering warming the familiar's heart. The opportunity to lay beside Silas was provided, and Umberto found his heart beating excitedly for it.
"I'm glad to hear that," he responded softly.
The walk towards the bedside table had been slow, Umberto staring at the photo album a few moments. Memories captured in the form of photos, nostalgic with each captured frame. The photo album once possessed a sorrowful form of nostalgia, but the emotions were mixed now. While Umberto's husband was alive and breathing, the bitterness of failure and memory lost remained a misfortune that left the familiar's heart beating with concern. There were opportunities to those more worthy to steal the most significant individual in his life. It made the blue-haired man self-conscious and nervous while his gaze flitted towards Silas before returning to the treasured book of memories. Before Umberto gained the chance to crawl into bed, his blue eyes noticed his husband hastily standing from the bed. Longing immediately filled the familiar's eyes, he desired for Silas to remain beside him, laying next to one another while they gazed over the series of pictures.
When the filth was mentioned, Umberto's blue eyes scrutinized the dirty form of Silas; the tattered clothes being the utmost concern. Momentarily, the album was set on the bedside table, the familiar crossing the room to open one of the dresser drawers. He began rummaging through the drawer, grabbing a few shirts and pants for his husband to chose from.
"I imagine your size hasn't changed much, and we were pretty similar in size. You can borrow some of my clothes and use the master bedroom to clean up if you like." The offer the gently spoken. "You can pick whatever you like. There... might even be a few of your old shirts in the drawer still... some of your favourites..."
With various articles of clothing draped over his arm, Umberto returned to the bed. The clothes were spread across the bed, the familiar making certain to obtain some of Silas' old clothing. Once completed, the blue-haired man stepped back from the bed to allow his husband to glance over the clothing.
Silas felt his heart flutter from slight nervousness. He didn't want to let Umberto go, not even for a photo album. To his comment, he watched as Umberto moved over to the dresser, opening the drawer to grab some shirts and pants. He couldn't help but feel somewhat flustered when Umberto made the assumption of him not changing very much. "Thank... thank you." He would have to look in the drawer later about those clothes, but for now he would wear one of these. After looking at the articles of clothing, he picked a pair of shirts and pants before going into the bathroom to get cleaned up. Though it was awkward leaving the door unlocked, he wanted Umberto have the freedom to enter since they had been married prior. He took a quick shower before changing into the newly fresh clothes that Umberto had provided him before exiting the bathroom. He was still in process of drying his hair when he looked over towards Umberto.
"Sorry for the wait.... I feel.... much better." Well the correct wording would be cleaner, but correcting himself on the subject seemed like it would cause more trouble than it was worth. He would move towards the bed, still having the towel in a hand trying to finish drying his hair before getting into bed with Umberto. Once it seemed like his hair was somewhat dryer, he found the hamper and tossed the towel into it before moving to the side of the bed to crawl into it to be next to Umberto. His heard fluttered again, being close to Umberto felt so right but nerve wreaking, he just felt so nervous on the subject. Though the photo album would provide him with answers to his questions. Giving himself an answer of who he used to be. Or at the very least, some logic behind who he might have been. He found himself craving snuggle time with Umberto, not wanting to let go in the first place. Taking a shallow breath, he slowly moved his arms, attempting to wrap them around Umberto, hoping that he could continue snuggling him.
The assortment of clothes arranged on the bed consisted of a mixture of Silas' and Umberto's. The variety was limited to what the familiar deemed as proper, which meant picking articles that remained in good condition; his husband deserved only the best after all. Quickly, the clothes were scrutinized to make certain The provided thank-you resulted in Umberto glancing at Silas with a softness within his blue eyes. There was nothing that the depressed man would not do for his marvellous hero; the man who saved him from the abuse inflicted on him by his malicious father. Umberto genuinely believed Silas deserved everything good to arrive his way. The familiar's eyes lingered on his husband, analyzing him again and remembering the endless reasons why he fell in love with the wonderful man.
"... I... I would do anything for you, Silas," he quietly admitted.
Displaying the emotions he continued to hold remained a necessity since he desired for their feeling of affection to become mutual again. There was nobody else that Umberto could love, making him completely faithful to his husband even after the man had met his demise. Once Silas chose his clothes, the familiar watched his husband retreat to the washroom, discovering an odd sense of glee in not hearing the click of the lock. Was Silas being courteous, or was it a sign of secretly harboured affection? With a gentle sigh and hopeful thoughts, Umberto began folding the clothes and returning them to the dresser. The sounds of the shower alongside movements inside the washroom brought a sense of life to the bedroom again. There was a nostalgic sensation from the noises, reminding him of laundry day where clothes would be folded while the other may peacefully shower; it was perfect.
Once the folding was completed, Umberto retreated to the bed, taking the photo album in his hands to lay on top of the soft comforter. After a few minutes, he witnessed his husband exit the washroom with a towel to dry his hair and an apology leaving his beautiful lips. Silently, the familiar stared at the divine, freshly cleaned form of his wonderful husband. Pink touched Umberto's cheeks as he realized how extensive his stare had been, causing him to avert his eyes.
"D-don't be sorry," he mumbled bashfully.
There was fluttering in Umberto's chest that increased as Silas drew closer. The towel was discarded, the man he cared about intensely drawing closer to the bed. Once Silas was laying on the bed with him, Umberto inched closer, attempting to create a close proximity. There was a small grin on the familiar's face as he remained close to Silas, finding laying with him to be incredibly comfortable.
"You comfy?" He asked quietly.
There was some adjusting in position, allowing for Umberto to flip the pages of the album and remain close to his husband. The familiar hesitated before opening the front cover as he waited for any possible adjustments that Silas may desire to make.
Silas enjoyed watching Umberto's cheeks go pink. Shortly after he attempted to wrap his arms around Umberto, Umberto had inched closer to him, making it easier to relax even if he was somewhat nervous at the idea of holding Umberto like this. Umberto has asked him if he was comfy and he couldn't help but nod his head up and down, finding his cheeks going pink from embarrassment at admitting such a thing. It wasn't like these feelings would be wrong, they had been married after all, or at least Silas chose to believe it. It seemed welcoming to have his arms around Umberto like this, being close to him. It was strange, it almost seemed somewhat familiar but he just couldn't remember a time that this had happened in his past. The only thing he could remember was his death, everything before that was a blur. He waited for Umberto to open up the photo album.
Finding none of the pictures helping him remember any past events, though with the pictures being right in front of him, he told himself that for him to not remember the logical answer would be that he had simply forgot. A determination over came him, wanting nothing more than to remember his past, but no longer just for himself, for his husband too. He wanted to be able to give Umberto the answers that he was seeking, he wanted to promise that he would never do it again. Suddenly a fear had crossed over his mind, something he hadn't thought of before. Though he desired to make Umberto happy, what if there was a reason why he disappeared on Umberto in the first place. What if he didn't like his older self once he remembered what he was like. "Umberto?" The name would come out as a whisper, he found himself tightening the grip slightly. "What if I don't like the old me, if I manage to remember?" He paused, managing to muster up the courage to state his fear.
"Would you still want to be around me?" He chose that despite not remembering Umberto that he didn't want to leave his side again. He had no idea what he was like before, it seemed to him that Umberto likely thought of him as a special person, since he was still putting up with him right now. But fear of who he used to be, continued overwhelming him. Why did I leave him in the first place? What was the point in such a thing? Is it really worth it to remember? Maybe I'm better off just starting over from here? No.... I must remember, I've been searching for answers for so long. I must remember and confront them. Thoughts continued popping through his mind, his breathing became somewhat heavier from worry, worried about the answer Umberto would give him. Maybe rest would be a good thing, though he had no idea of where to start. "How does one sleep? Sleep when their thoughts keep overwhelming them?" It had been a year since he had last slept.
Being captured in Silas' sweet embrace was immensely comforting for Umberto because of the nostalgic emotions it provided. The close proximity where body heat was shared alongside the contact generated comfort. For months, the familiar had been craving the solace of his husbands arms wrapped around him, and finally it was provided. Immediately, Umberto found himself melting into the embrace and releasing a joyous sigh. Unconsciously, he began snuggling Silas a bit more, finding the close proximity enjoyable and addicting. After a year of absence, Umberto had longed for these quiet moments between himself and his husband. The deprivation of this intimate attention had threatened his mental state, at times making the familiar believe he would snap beneath the lonesome depression. This moment was absolute perfection that created feelings of serenity for Umberto as he remained close to Silas.
Witnessing the pink tinting touch Silas' cheeks made a small grin form on Umberto's face and a soft chuckle leave his throat; his husband was adorable when blushing. For a moment, the familiar wished his hands were not preoccupied with the photo album so he could return the embrace. When his husband stated he was comfortable, the smile broadened slightly. There were mild concerns that Silas was merely accomplishing these romantic tasks for his sake, but currently Umberto refused to complain; he was too comfortable. While he opened the cover of the album, the familiar relaxed his head onto Silas' shoulder which was another instinctive action. Slowly, the blue-haired man began flipping the pages from the right corner, occasionally snuggling his Silas while they continued through the album. There was a strange mishmash of emotions when Umberto looked over the various happy memories within the album. Silas had returned, but those sorrowful feelings remained from the man's death.
There was happiness being created from flipping through the album with his husband, but guilt still gnawed at the familiar when he remembered the demise. Extensive breaths were taken, Umberto's eyes fixating on the pictures from their wedding that shortly transitioned to an assortment of different occasions or trivial pictures. As the familiar continued through the album, he heard the whispering of his name from Silas. There was a tightening to the grip as a pair of questions arrived, Umberto staring at his husband with a softness in his eyes.
"... Of course. Silas, listen to be, I would love you no matter what," he whispered in return. "You are incredible, and I would give anything to be around you."
There was a reassuring tone to the familiar's words as he spoke softly to his husband. While it remained unlikely that Silas would dislike his former self, Umberto was aiming towards being supportive. Each word he stated was genuine due to his overwhelming feelings for his husband. Even if Silas changed from the experience, he was determined to be there for him and display his intense emotions for the wonderful man he married. As time progressed, Umberto continued through the photo album until another question arrived from his husband. For a moment, the familiar paused considering he had fallen victim to similar concepts when his depression dragged him to the depths.
"We could talk until you fall asleep," Umberto suggested. "If you are okay with laying with me... that is... If not you can stay here and I will go sleep on the couch..."
The album was closed, the familiar placing it on the bedside table and gripped the covers, pulling them up. Deep down, Umberto was praying that Silas wanted to sleep beside him. The concept brought memories of comfort as long nights spent within each other's arms entered the familiar's mind. While he waited for the answer, the blue-haired man continued to sit up in an attempt to avoid causing Silas discomfort.
Silas felt great comfort in Umberto snuggling into him. After a few minutes of looking through the photo album, he had asked Umberto his question. He couldn't help but melt into Umberto after he answered his question. I will never let go........ not unless you tell me to, but even than, it will be so hard. He thought to himself, looking through a few more photo's because asking his next question. Umberto had given a suggestion, shortly what followed was a possible chance of Umberto leaving him. In answer to the question, he found his arms tighten, not desiring to let Umberto go. "Don't... leave me." The words had come out as a whisper. He wasn't sure why he felt a great need in having Umberto nearby, but couldn't help but hope these feelings were normal. Maybe there was something wrong with him, he couldn't be sure. Umberto had closed the photo album, placing it on the bedside table before pulling the covers up.
So alone........ being in your presence, I've never felt more alive than I did in this exact moment. He thought to himself, hugging Umberto, not wanting to let go. I don't think I can respect your wish, if you wanted me to let go, the answer is no. His eyes closed, feeling tired but at the same time, still fully awake. A few minutes later, he opened his eyes to look at Umberto. I need to find out who I was, I need to remember and makes things right with him. Little did he know, the object he held close was the reason for his memory loss, had he taken it off instead of holding it close, he would have started remembering himself and his past. He releases his grip slightly so that Umberto can become more comfortable, still wishing to snuggle with his husband.
Being permitted to snuggle his precious husband was a wonderful experience for Umberto, especially after the year of lonesome sorrow. It was a privilege that he felt deprived of, resulting in him forgetting about the adjustments to Silas' comfort zone from the amnesia. While the familiar did have minor concerns about doing too far with the attention he was giving, it was difficult to resist. There were numerous days where he longed for his husband, wanting to receive his affection and grant more in return. When Umberto had pulled away to possibly sleep on the couch, he felt Silas' arms remain tight around him. The tightening made red tint the familiar's cheeks as his eyes flitted back towards his husband in surprise. The words that left the man's mouth in a whisper resulted in the blush increasing, causing the blue-haired man to glance away bashfully.
His heart was fluttering immensely with joy over the concept of Silas desiring his company throughout the evening. There was a smile that crept onto Umberto's face, the man resisting tears of happiness over his husband's sudden clinging; he has missed this so much. A deep breath was taken, the familiar attempting to calm his racing heart and balance his emotional state before drawing the covers over himself and Silas. Gently, he wrapped his arms around Silas in return, enjoying every second of the close proximity.
"I won't leave... The last thing I want to do is leave you," he murmured softly.
For only a moment did Umberto release his husband, reaching over to shut off the lamp on the bedside table that was used for photo viewing. Afterwards, he returned to wrapping his arms around the most significant person in his life. The familiar snuggled up against Silas, finding comfort in embracing him beneath the warmth of the covers. Finally, his husband had returned and Umberto could enjoy every second spent within the man's arm. There was comfort in the action, Umberto finding himself lulled from being embraced. Gradually, he transitioned to sleep smoothly, remaining asleep in his husband's wonderful arms.
