Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Demetria had been in her room, finding an outfit that she'd want to wear to the Valentine dance. She had thought that she would be going to the dance with Gideon, even if the conversation hadn't been brought up, surely he planned on being with her the whole time right? She wore a blue dress, not having an interest in wearing pink despite the fact of the theme being somewhat popular. Once she was ready to go, she would grab her stuff and walk out of the door before hailing a taxi to drive to the City Hall. No sooner were they there, she would come to realize that Gideon's focus would be on some other girl and she would be standing by the food, bored to death because he seemed far more interested in his date over her.
How dare he chose to spend his time with her instead of me.... I mean he didn't tell me, if I had known I wouldn't have come here in the first place..... She thought to herself, annoyed that she was alone in her corner once more. Oh what ever, I wasn't going to let him get close anyway. He better have fun with his date because once I leave, he gets to walk home alone.... The thought was mostly hopeful towards him caring about his job in keeping her safe, only time would tell if that was truthful or not.
how he ended up going on a date was beyond him. hey the girl was cute and they seemed to have somethings in common. he figured it was bound to happen. after all they would always talk when gideon would come get his coffee in the morning. sure he could get a coffee maker and what not, but sometimes he would go days without making a cup. besides he didn't want to make any unnecessary purchases. he wasn't going to stay there forever and he was not going to be lugging around a coffeemaker once he left.
he wasn't sure if he was even going to stay here. he'd more than likely head back home and pick up his old police job. back when things were simple. he mentioned going to the dance to demy. he honestly didn't think he'd see her get so dressed up. after all she hadn't even let him finish his statement. he just figured she wanted to go.
after he got dressed he followed her out of the apartment and into a taxi. he was quiet on the way there. sure he could of told her than, but actions speak louder than words. they made their way inside and he scanned the room for his date. they had agreed on meeting there. without a second thought he made his way over once he spotted her. it really wasn't that difficult considering she was the one waving him down. he chuckled softly. he did look back once, he still needed to make sure demy was still here. he grinned and waved at her before returning his attention to his date.
they chatted for a bit and gideon offered to get her some punch. it seemed like demy was over by the snack area anyways. kill to birds with one stone. he left and made his way towards the punch."having a good time? or should i say, staying out of trouble?"
Demetria had poured herself a glass of punch, figuring she would spend her time enjoying the food area over socializing with other people. Trying to connect with other people was over rated and that was why most of the time she liked staying at home. She was in the middle of drinking her punch, ignoring Gideon, unaware that he was headed in her direction. His question had pulled her from her thoughts but she was in the middle of drinking her punch when he had the nerve to ask her if she was staying out of trouble. The question had caught her off guard and she found herself choking on her drink before finally managing to swallow it. "None of your business." On the one hand, she didn't feel a great need in admitting that she was annoyed that he had asked her to come just to bail on her with another woman, on the other hand, she wasn't one for getting into trouble so for him to feel a great need to ask such a thing.... besides the answer she gave seemed like a good enough one anyway. Had she been doing something that he wouldn't want to hear about, the answer would have fit perfectly anyway.
they seemed to be hitting it off. Honestly he didn't think they would have much in common but surprisingly they had many things to talk about. He watched demy drink punch before asking her if she was staying out of trouble. He hadn't expected her to start cooking. He handed her a napkin."careful princess dont chug it down too quickly. It isn't spiked or something."he told her with a grin. He took a drink of his before refilling.he turned to leave but stayed there for a few seconds more."you're welcome to join us if you can't find someone to talk to."he said with a smile."if you're good maybe I'll dance with you."he said with a wink before making his way towards his date.
Demetria took the napkin out of habit, it would be better to have a napkin and not use it than to have an accident and not have a napkin to try and catch it with if needs be. She couldn't help but roll her eyes at him when he made his comment about the punch. She of course knew that, she would't need him telling her that, it was him, he was the reason why she had started choking on her drink. If she didn't know any better, he likely knew that too, else she would be safe in playing it off just like any other day. He had called her Princess and she found herself frowning at him slightly. She wasn't a fan of that nickname, only people in relationships should be giving each other cute nicknames and yet he always called her it anyway. The only relationship they had was boss and body guard, nothing more and nothing less.
She was about to answer him back when she noticed his date glaring at her before looking away as if she had been waiting patiently for Gideon to return the whole time. "For the last time, it is Demy." She wouldn't mind him calling her nickname or her full name but any other nickname would have to be approved by her first and Princess was on the disapproved list. She rolled her eyes at his suggestion, not interested in lingering around him and his date. He had turned to head back for his date, she wasn't going to make the comment but had changed her mind when he had said if she was good that he might dance with her. "I don't think your date would like that very much." She would answer in reply to him, it would be easier than telling him no. He wouldn't need to know that she was somewhat interested in the idea, partly because she was upset that he had ditched her for some other woman in the first place. She finished her punch and tossed the cup in the trash can.
He'd dance with me if I'm good right? Well than, maybe I should give him a reason to change his mind. I wouldn't want him falling in love with me after all. She would move away from the food and head towards the exit of the City Hall, knowing fully well that if Gideon cared about his job as much as he appeared to, that he would at the very least look back to see that she wasn't standing around there anymore.
he smiled at her and shook his head."my apologies demetria."he wasn't sure why he was so informal with her. he needed to clean up his act. why did he feel so comfortable around her. they had just recently met and here he was being playful with her. it was absurd, it felt like they had known each other for years. maybe that why he felt so comfortable around her. he needed to stop, but he didn't stop. he continued flirting with her.
he chuckled at her response."since when do you care about others and their feelings?"okay he was a tad harsh there, but really he wasn't lying. she was always worried about her things rather than others. he returned to his date without another thought. right, focus, be professional. he thought to himself, almost like a mantra.
his date curtly asked him who that red haired girl was and he simply smiled and told her about his job."so you're practically babysitting her."she said with a laugh. it was at that moment that he looked up to see if she was still being a good girl. he frowned and excused himself before going to look for her."princess!"he called out to her. maybe his comment had been to harsh and she decided to leave. he headed for the doors.
Demetria couldn't help but shrug her shoulders to him, in her head she was already picturing him calling her it again, it would only be a matter of time. I need to stop thinking about it... Either he enjoys teasing or he got caught up in the moment, I know there is no interest between the two of us so there is no point in pondering it anymore than I already have. She was determined to not let him fluster her, it seemed to come naturally to him and she wasn't going to go head over heels just because he was amusing and attractive and protective. His question had caused her to flinch but she remained silent by his comment. I'm anti social.... It isn't like I go out of my way trying to hurt others feelings unlike you are talking about our relationship because half of the time you deserve it.
I mean I was late to pick you up from the air port, not prepared to have you staying at my apartment and yet I made due anyway.... but my work must go on.... She found herself slightly frustrated by his comment but she wasn't going to comment back to him about it. She had decided when he had returned back to his date that she would be leaving, the fact they were laughing over there and his date had been looking at her earlier. It was just too much to put up with for one night so she had started her walk towards the exit. She came to a stop to hear him call out that nickname once more. If I really didn't want him to call me that, I wouldn't have paid attention.... God....... he is just so frustrating. She glanced back to look towards Gideon with a small smile on her face.
"Now now, chasing after me isn't nice to your date so do us both a favor and go back to her. You promised that you wouldn't fall in love with me, remember?" She flirted back, finding that flirting back always seemed to catch him off guard and it was the perfect payback.
after all he hadn't apologized for the comment. whether it had some truth to it or not. so much for trying to be professional. what was wrong with him. had it been any other person and he would be fine. she had a way of pushing his buttons. he left his date, much to her pleading about letting demy go. despite the teasing gideon took his assignment seriously.
he wasn't about to mess around. the one time that he did he had a feeling something would go wrong. that would be terrible. oh yeah sorry you're daughter got hurt because i was more interested in making out with my date. her parents would probably kill him right then and their.
he made his way to the door, calling out to her, not by her name, but by the nickname he had chosen to give her. he sighed once she made an appearance. gideon stood there completely stunned by her words. he was speechless. honestly he had no idea what to say, so instead he started laughing.
once he was done he shook his head."nice one, you almost got me there. im just doing my job. you can try to ruin my date all you want. i know you're jealous."he said with a smirk.
Demetria couldn't help but feel somewhat happy to see him speechless like that. Though his speechless had changed to laughter and she forced a smile on her lips as she waited for him to answer her back. He shook his head, it just goes to show she had good come backs against him after all. His words didn't waver the smile on her lips. "Your ruining your own date, the only thing I'm doing is helping set the mood." She wasn't going to comment about him accusing her of becoming jealous, they both knew that wasn't true or at least that is what she kept telling herself. "Well it is rude to ask one woman to the dance and yet you chose to hang out with another one instead." Her words didn't mean anything, she wasn't proving to him her feelings on the subject, though if it had been anybody else she would have understood their frustration over the misunderstanding.
"Your not on the clock right now, so how is following me around work related?" She changed the subject, most wouldn't be on a date if they were on the clock. She fake gasps, "Unless... oh dear. No I agreed to come with you here.... I never agreed to being a date." The comment made her feel better but she couldn't help but feel guilty shortly afterwords. How would she have reacted if he had gone just to be with her? Happy, annoyed, creeped out, she just couldn't seem to sort out her own emotions. Get a grip of yourself Demy, if he wants to be on a date with somebody else, let him.... It isn't your problem what he chooses to do on his spare time. She was pulled out of her thoughts, looking at Gideon she asked him, "Were you frustrated I moved?"
she was enjoying this. or at least it seemed like that. the smug look on her face made it evident. he wasn't going to let her win. there he went again, continuing the game of cat and mouse. he crossed his arms at her words."and what mood would that be. damsel in distress? or should i say the scorned lover..."what the hell was he saying. was he that flustered that he couldn't believe the words that were coming out of his mouth.
he needed to get it together. it was like a boxing match. their words were hits. it seemed like it was his turn to attack back."im not hanging out with you. checking up on you is one thing. please don't get the two confused. i know its difficult and all, not having friends."his arms had been crossed and he shook his head in disbelief."funny how you failed to mention that when we got in the car."he laughed at her comment."don't flatter yourself. you're the last person i'd date. you couldn't pay me enough to date you. i mean babysitting you is one thing..."he said a smirk appearing on his lips.
fine. he wasn't on the job. then he wouldn't care."well since that is settled. do what you want and i'll do who i want."he said with a wink as he turned to leave."don't wait up princess."he had no more business with her."of course not. you do what you want. im surprised you stayed at the punch bowl as long as you did."he told her before he made his way back to his date.
Demetria rolled her eyes when he called her a damsel in distressed. You supposedly saved me one time? Even that doesn't give you a right to call me that. If you keep it up, you might need your own savior.... Not that she'd really do it but it was somewhat tempting to just prove to him who the real damsel in distress happened to be. The scorned lover was hurtful, but he didn't deserve to hear a comeback so she remained silent as he continued on. Gideon further explained that he wasn't hanging out with her, just checking up on her. Well that will be difficult if I move, wouldn't it? The thought helped her refrain from slapping him across the face when he accused her of not having any friends. A frown had formed on her face when he turned it into her fault for not mentioning it in the car.
And yet, you find it to be funny. As if to make a comeback she made the comment about him thinking her as his date, going as far as to state that she never agreed to date him just for him to say his own words. This argument is going nowhere.... He needs to go back to his little girl friend and leave me alone. She blinked, finding it hard to remain calm but she wasn't about to start yelling at him. "I wouldn't pay you a cent for your time. Your job is to only body guard and right now... your not needed so go back." She was tired of hearing him calm that he was baby sitting her. If he thought that was what he was doing, he could go find somebody else to watch over. She was through with being called his damsel in distress. Gideon made his comment and she waved her hand dismissively towards him.
Gideon had the nerve to tell her not to wait up, she wouldn't dream of it. She was tempted to smack him for the punch bowl comment but he had moved back towards his date, leaving her alone near the door. So rude..... and he just doesn't get the date comment.... Ugh. She walked outside, the nice cold breeze filled the air surrounding her. She slowly made her way towards the street before hearing a noise from the distance. At first the TRS hunter had bumped into her, but than they had fallen onto the ground. Blood had stained her clothes from the hunter being injured but that noise, she knew that noise from somewhere. She withdrew her gun from the strap on her leg and positioned herself, ready to take aim and fire. The two Troublemakers made their way towards her.
She was surprised to see their speed but their guts to attempt to kill her had caught her off guard. She fired her pistol, trying to hit them as they moved quickly out of the way. As they moved, she turned to match them, refusing to let any get behind her. One leaped towards her and she was pushed against the wall of the City Hall. Her head hurt shortly after it hit the wall. Ugh..... my head. The two Troublemakers were moving towards her and she turned and started climbing the wall to get out of their reach. With her other hand she fired at the two Troublemakers again, managing to land a shot. If he thinks for one second, I'm going to stand around and be his damsel in distress, he has another thing coming!
the conversation seemed to be getting very heated. he couldn't help but think he was winning. the smirk on his face seemed to be getting bigger. each time he left her speechless or didn't make a comment he considered it a victory. he was like a young child winning some stupid fight over a toy.
he laughed at her comment."honey, you're lucky its your parents that are paying my salary. six months and i'll be gone. alright? you can go back to doing whatever it is you do."he smirked once more and this time it was him who didn't say anymore. he didn't have to. he left her alone just like she wanted and went back to his date.
she didn't not seem happy with him. he figured he should of brought her another cup of punch. he quickly apologized and after a few seconds of pouting and convincing her that he was not interested in demetria. she finally started having fun. he took a drink of the punch before she had started pulling him towards the dance floor. they danced for a couple of songs.
he couldn't help but let his eyes wander towards the door. he had left, but he didn't feel entirely comfortable leaving her by herself. she had told him he was off duty. he tried to forget about it as he twirled his date. she pulled him closer. he pulled away when he felt a sharp pain on the back of his head. he let go of her side and put his free hand on the back of his head. he was fine, just a sharp pain. Had he bumped into someone without knowing. The dance floor was pretty packed. As soon as it had come it pain had left he figured it wasn't too important. they finished dancing to the last song the DJ was playing. They were tired and thirsty. Instead of heading back to the table they made their way towards the punch bowl. They chatted for a bit longer before she suggested they go outside for some fresh air. they slowly made their way towards the exit. she had her arm wrapped around his waist as they walked. they stopped the door feeling the cold air. It was nice and refreshing. They decided to call it a night, but she didn't want him to leave.
it wasn't till he heard a gunshot that he opened the door to investigate. it had been quite some time since he'd seen those creatures he looked around for the shooter while his date screamed and he laughed."you missed one."he shouted at her. As he had finally spotted her. He stood by the door ushering his date inside.
Demetria managed to hit one of the Troublemakers just as she heard a scream from the entrance. Oh come on, you have got to be kidding me..... She was no hunter, but she wasn't a fool. One wasn't supposed to let all of the air out of their lungs when a Terror was around, not even if it was two Troublemakers and yet Gideon's date had done just that. To make matters worse, he had the nerve to tell her that she had managed to miss one when she was busy trying to not get herself killed in the process. The two Troublemakers had turned towards Gideon and his date and rushed towards them. Demetria let go of the building so that she could fall into the ground before moving towards them. I'd tell him to shut up but I'm busy right now....
She glanced over to the side to see the hunter was laying on the ground, somehow between bumping into her and her going after the two Troublemakers he had fallen face forward. She would have to check to see if he was still alive or not when she was done killing these things. The whole point of trying to help him out was to save his life, she couldn't have him dying on her already. She fired another shot, hitting the two Troublemakers just before they got to Gideon and his date. Nailed it. Those things aren't going to be happy that I managed to hit them. She tried firing another shot just for nothing to come out. Damn it. I'm empty. She replaced the gun back on the strap on her leg, the last thing she wanted to do was run the risk of losing it just because she was being chased by some Terrors.
"Hey Gideon, get your ass back inside the City Hall with your girl friend!" With any luck his late would find it flattering, even going as far as to beg for him to go back in and stay with her. My parents wanted him as my body guard? Did they get wind I was planning on joining TRS or something? She shook her head, moving passed the hunter on the ground she grabbed his radio and checked to see if there was a pulse. Damn it, he isn't breathing.... So much for saving his life.... She raised the radio to her lips, having seen Desmond do it a while ago.
"Hello.... Can somebody hear me?" She would repeat in the radio. "Your hunter is dead and there are too Terrors outside City Hall...." Of course it would red some flags of who the hell she was, but she'd deal with that as soon as the City Hall was safe again. Damn.... I thought they were supposed to be checking this area.... Where the hell is everybody? She glanced behind herself to see the Troublemakers were right behind her, so she dodged to the right with her enhanced speed, barely getting out of the way. Well I suppose there is only one thing left to do. Lead them away from City Hall.... She turned around and ran away from them, turning a corner. She took the chance to look down to see that she had blood all over her dress, some was from the hunter bumping into her and the rest was from injuries that had bled despite healing up.
Well this dress is ruined now. It seemed only fitting since Gideon had taken her to the dance just to hang out with some other girl. She hoped that he had gone back inside City Hall with his date, at least there, he'd be safe even if he was sometimes a pain in the ass.
it was obvious the date of his screaming seemed to make matters worse. he wasn't an idiot, turning his back on the creatures to make sure she got back inside the building. he had his shield up and ready to defend. it seemed he hadn't been the only one that was busy. once he was sure the girl was safe he turned around to face the foe head on.
they weren't down for the count yet. the shots she had fired managed to hit the creatures. instead of killing them all she did was call their attention back to her."i thought you were well prepared."he shouted at her before laughing at her words."you can't tell me what to do. remember, im off tonight."gideon said with a grin."no way am i gonna miss princess fighting."so if she could fight. why the hell did her parents send him all the way here."watch out!"he told her as his hand shoot out. he had moved his force field away from himself to try to cover her. she seemed to get out of the way in time."focus!"he shouted once more.
so far he had been standing on the steps watching everything unfold from a far. he cursed as he watched the creatures continue to chase after her. he sighed and went for his gun. this was not how he pictured the night was going to end up. his date was still at the door. afraid to come out, but not willing to leave him. he waved and started running after, two troublemakers and a reckless princess.
Demetria rolled her eyes at his comment, why he acted like her having a gun was a normal thing was beyond her but she didn't have time to counter his comment, she had Troublemakers following after her and she didn't have a death wish, which meant avoid being caught. To make matters worse, he had the nerve to tell her that she couldn't tell him what to do. "You never listen even when on shift, don't bull shit me and get your ass inside." She countered, somewhat happy that she was able to make at least one comment back at him. She rolled her eyes at his comment about watching her fighting. "What ever." She was tired of correcting him over the nickname, besides if he was going to get his date jealous by having the nerve in calling her that nickname in front of her, who was she to stop him?
He had shouted at her to watch out, going as far as to move his force field to shield her just in case she had needed it. She wouldn't lie, having the Troublemakers chase after her hadn't been how she imagined her night going, but it was better than letting those things stay near City Hall. She fled from the Troublemakers, noticing that they were still following after her when she had glanced behind herself, but a frown formed on her face when she saw that Gideon was following behind them. How do I keep them from noticing Gideon without getting myself killed? She thought to herself, being reminded that she could try using blood manipulation. As she ran past, she reached down to pick up a sharp rock on the ground and rubbed it hard against her hand for the purpose of opening the flesh.
Alright. Here I go. She spun around to face the Troublemakers running straight into her, attempting to create a blood daggers from the blood pouring out from her hand. The process took focus and she was having difficulty accomplishing the task at hand and the Troublemakers were getting closer and closer.
