Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] Amy was furious. She had delivered a message between a couple of Ravagers and then been told to stay in the area so they could easily grab her when they were ready to send a response. It was so incredibly rude of them! There was nothing to do around here. She had already spent half an hour walking around the small back alleys and she hadn’t even run into anyone she could play with.
It was also too cold. She tugged her hat (a fuzzy lump on her head with teddy bear ears poking out of the top) further down her head, trying to get it to cover her ears more. Instead she ended up pulling it over her face. She huffed and annoyed whimper and then tried again, adjusting her hair under the hat so it would cover her ears. A better hat would be nice but this would have to do. Besides, the hat was too cute to get rid of.
At least the cold weather meant Yule was coming up. She wasn’t sure when it was, but she was still excited. When she was a kid she had celebrated Yule with her family. They would all dance around a bonfire and exchange gifts. She didn’t do anything fun like that to celebrate now. Her sister was always too busy to spend extra time with her and it wasn’t like there were any other Faekin around that would share the tradition with her.
Maybe she could get someone to invite her to one of their Christmas celebrations. Then she could at least get presents and some yummy food. Unwittingly, she started humming Jingle Bells - the one Christmas carol she knew - as she walked.
Suddenly a man stepped out from the shadows. Amy stopped walking and blinked up at him. “Oh good!” she said, “I was hoping someone would be arresting here. I’m bored! Wanna play a game?” She heard movement behind her and turned to see a couple of guys stepping into the alley behind you. “Oh, are you guys his friends? We can all play together! Ooohhh do you have candy? I was told strangers have candy.”
Of course the day would come where Ozaei is sent on this mission of all things... but his loyalty was with the Dark Market, and he couldn't just bluff his was out of this one. Wearing nothing but his usual skater getup, he blitzed through patches of wilderness and all that would reside there. Electricity flooded his body as he moved, leaving trails of sparks and charged air behind him. A few times, something so happened to get in his way; he simply ran right into them without remorse, whatever left of them, be it person or animal, left behind him as a mist of red blood. Perhaps he was going too fast, but he didn't care. Not today.
The chill that was in the air and blowing in his face didn't bother him; he was distracted, more so than usual. His face, serious and stern, wondering what he would do if he couldn't go through with what he had to do... if it came to that. He hoped to heaven above she'd decided to just comply, at least long enough for him to think of something.
Ozaei skidded to a stop on his jagged-wheel skates as a familiar voice intruded in his thoughts and strangers blocked his view ahead.
"Eh? Amy?" he said, knowing exactly who it was. The shadowy shapes in front of him just didn't match, but he knew his target was just beyond them. Skating forward slowly, he listened in a little more before becoming irate, a burst of electricity escaping from him in the cold climate. Hell no. He read too many of the Madame's books, he knew how stories like this would go if he didn't interfere.
"Hey you no-good creepy FUCKS!" Ozaei yelled, charging forward and tackling one with absurd speed. "LEAVE HER THE FUCK ALONE! SHE'S MINE!" He screamed, his voice slightly shaky. Wheels still spinning, he lifted his foot up and slammed it into the neck of the guy he just rammed into the ground, the uneven skates he wore digging into his flesh. Standing back up slowly, his serious gaze was ever-present and for the first time in a while he had a good look at the cause of his uneasiness. "Hey... Amy." The Dark Market Noble said solemnly. "Nice stupid hat..."

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] One of the men was about to respond when they were interrupted by an extremely loud ball of speed. Could it be? No way. But, then again, she only knew one person who was that reckless and quick. Before she had time to fully process, Ozaei had taken out the guys and was standing still. That was weird. She was used to him always moving. Something was clearly wrong.
She stood gaping for a moment. How long had it been since she’d seen him? There weren’t many things she had been upset to leave behind at the dark market, but he had been one of her few friends. Not that they were really friends. He was more of an annoying pest.
Before she could think too much about it, she processed what he had said to the men. “I-I’m yours?” she asked quietly. “What the hell is that supposed to mean? And my hat’s not stupid, it’s adorable. I have matching gloves that go with it but they’re at home. And hey! Why did you do that?! Those guys were about to give me candy!” By the time she was finished speaking, her hands were balled into fists and her voice had risen loud enough that it echoed through the alley.
Ozaei remained silent as he stared at Amy. Nothing changed much about her, something he wanted to be happy about, or make a snarky remark, but he couldn't. The Madame was probably waiting. Watching. Whatever it was he believed seers do. They're from heaven after all and who was he to start second guessing the reach of that kind of power? Not that it mattered at the moment.
"Do you ever shut the fuck up..." he said, quietly. Shaking his head furiously, he began to mumble incoherent words before, in a mocking sort of way, balling his fists up. He opened his mouth to speak, to completely disregard the self proclaimed cuteness of her hat and the blatant moronic nature of her attitude but... he couldn't. All that came out was a sigh. He wasn't himself today, that much was obviously apparent for all who knew Ozaei. He remained silent for moments more, waiting for some silly action to occur knowing it wouldn't come before regaining his shaky composure.
Reaching back for his hood, he yanked it over his head so he wouldn't have to look at her in the eyes, his own electric irises focused now on her feet. "It means... I'm gonna kill ya, you likeable dumbass," Ozaei muttered out. "Madame's orders- and she knows you're alive this time!" Thankfully, the hood hid his now water soaked eyes, but due to his electricity, the tears simply evaporated into steam. Amy's echoing words helped him little, only making him feel even more conflicted and tired. Between his debt and fear for Madame Esmeree and his odd appreciation for his old friend he's been away from damn near forever, he for once couldn't just run away.
"I gotta. I don't fucking want to but I gotta, so fuck your candy, fuck your games, fuck it all. Let's just get this over with."

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] When Ozaei didn’t snap back in kind, Amy fell silent. Something was definitely wrong. Had he changed that much over the years? That seemed impossible. Something about him looked altogether older, though. Maybe it was just something about other species aging faster than Faekin. She had never really gotten a grasp of how that worked.
Amy tilted her head to the side when Ozaei finally spoke. Something in his voice felt off. But, then, everything about this situation was coated with a thick sense of wrongness. She glanced down at her hands. “Is she really that mad at me?” she asked. “It’s not like I did anything wrong. She said she was going to help me find my sister, that’s the whole reason I was staying with her. All I did was find my sister.” She didn’t notice the tears building up in her eyes. What she did notice was the anger simmering in the pit of her stomach. She thought she and Madame Dolores were sort of friends, but friends didn’t usually try to have eachother killed, did they? And then there was Ozaei. They had their disagreements but would he really kill her? It was all so unfair.
"Yeah," Ozaei replied plainly, "I guess. I dunno. She's got me and that demon devil princess bitch on you. I'm just... lucky I ran into you before she did." Ozaei began to take a few steps forward, closing the gap between the two more before stopping. How oddly slow he was moving. He despised it. There was no fun in this. No thrill of religion or promise of heaven... except for the Madame's paradise. Ozaei truly didn't know what to do except do what he did best.
"I'm uh... happy you found your sister. And if you didn't then hey, you two can see each other in heaven! I'm sure as fuck you'll be going there!" Bellowing a pitiful laugh at a shallow attempt to lighten the mood, his sudden laughter died down as quickly as it was brought on, prompting Ozaei to sulk his hands in his pockets. "Fuck.... FUCK IT ALL WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO?!" the angry boy screamed out, electricity sizzling on the ground around him before he went dead quiet.
In that moment he remembered something important Madame Dolores told him over, and over, and over again, ever since Amy left. Taking a deep breath, he repeated the words that were beat into him with every manner of object: "Don't think. Just do. Madame plans, Ozaei acts..." he said quietly, but audibly. Regaining his composure, he flicked his hood back, no longer hiding his face. His eyes now absent of his usual dapper carelessness and carefree tendencies. The golden irises he had reflected the one his caretaker had, the obvious sign of his years of brainwashing, the only difference being the heavy stream of tears that refused to fade away on his cheeks.
"C'mon Ozaeina! Amy's just your replacement. You have every reason to WANT to kill her... if I don't what if Madame takes me out instead? You're just a better version of me... c'mon just do it..." Ozaei was now thinking out loud, no longer capable of keeping it in his head. He was mentally breaking; indecisive of his own actions now. "Whatever. I'm gonna do as I'm told." Ozaei closed the distance between them even more until he was right in front of Amy. It was a slow walk, but when he got there, he aimed a simple kick to her leg, silently hoping that some miracle would happen and that pathetic kick would be enough to end the Faekin he spent a lot of time with in the past.

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] If Amy had learned one thing working with the Ravagers, it was that sometimes she needed to shut up and think to figure out the best course of action. She rarely actually did it, but she had been told to enough that in this moment those instincts kicked in. Maybe it had a bit to do with the shock coursing through her too. Was Ozaei crying? That didn’t seem right. She was the one that cried, not him.
She watched in silence as he debated with himself. She backed up as he got closer, but there wasn’t very far to back up before she hit the wall behind her. When he made a move to attack, she screamed and plants exploded from the ground around her, wrapping themselves around Ozaei’s limbs. “Wait!” she snapped. Her hands were shaking. She hadn’t known she could do that. Her control over plants was always unpredictable. Knowing he could probably burn the plants with his electricity, she moved away from him, making sure she was between him and the building the Ravagers were plotting their business in. Maybe if she needed help they’d be an option. “Stop it! You don’t have to do this. You can be a good friend and let me live! The Madame doesn’t have to know!”
"The fuck-" Ozaei stuttered out as his limbs were entangled in green flora but Ozaei wasn't moved nor concerned. In his mind, this only plunged him further into madness and confusion. "So... Amy. You finally decided to off me... you of all people... the fuck is this anyway.." Electricity surged through his skin as he yanked himself free with speed unseen, literally, the ground and walls scorched as he did.
Turning to the clearly frightened girl, he quickly looked away, not liking what he saw; it only made his tears flow stronger. 'Stop it', she said, but he did not. He advanced forwards towards Amy, slowly. Upon hearing a way out from Amy, he did stop. His eyes livened up a little as if there were hope present in them. "You got a plan? Is that what you're saying? Or is this some trick you learned from Madame? Like with the guns?"

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] Amy’s eyes widened as Ozaei actually paused. Good. There was a chance this could end peacefully. “Do you really think I could trick you?” she asked. “We both know I can’t lie for shit.” It was sort of true. She could lie when she was playing games, but for serious things like this she could never pull it off.
Any crossed her arms over her chest, but she was still tensed to run if need be. “What happened to the kid that would test all the rules with me?” she demanded. “There’s always some sort of loophole to the things these stupid adults ask. We can figure this out, but not if you want it be boring about it.”
Ozaei looked at Amy with pain-filled eyes before flicking his wrist at the nearby wall, electrifying and smoldering it, reducing it to rubble. Brushing off his shoulders, he scolded his friend. "This isn't a fucking game, Amy. Do you know what she does to me?! You were the ONLY FUCKING PERSON she EVER treated REMOTELY NICELY! There's no figuring shit out against someone who can see the future and REARRANGE YOUR FUCKING ORGANS WITH A BLINK!"
Ozaei, now fully crying with no restraint, began to tremble, though he hoped it wasn't too noticeable. The air heated up in the presence of the high voltaged lad. "If you know some sorta loophole then please share to the fucking class because I don't want to kill you!" His skin began to overheat, smoke emitting from it while his eyes began to glow extremely brightly. "But I WILL do it before she gets a hold of you.

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext] “I never said it was a game!” she snapped. Ozaei was probably right to be upset but she still didn’t like being yelled at. “She’s a terrible person, and I can say that because, fun fact, seers can’t see everywhere at once! She lies to you.”
She shook her head and tried to brush off the anger. It felt wrong yelling at Ozaei when he was so shaken. “There is a loophole, give me a second I need to remember it.” What had it been that scarlet eyed lady had told her all those years ago when she’d first joined the Ravagers and was afraid of what would happen if Dolores found her. “The woman, she said no. She said you can’t hurt me because if you hurt me you’re declaring war on a mafia and you’re just a lackey so you can’t do that without talking to the Madame and by the time you do that I can talk to the woman and she can help me!” she prattled out. “Oh… Except the woman doesn’t work with us anymore. Sooooo I don’t know.”
"They... can't?" Ozaei said shallowly. That was something he didn't know and while it was just a small piece of proof that the Madame was probably lying to him far more than he thought, it was a difficult pill to swallow. "But... it seems like it. She knows AP shit and where the TRS moves and how to sneak into places and... where you were!"
Sighing, he sat down on the cold ground, his energetic outbursts waning as he did. He rubbed his head with both hands as he listened to Amy's ramblings, unable to make sense of most of it. He laughed lightly. "I missed this," he said quietly, "that sounds right I guess. Soo we have to find the Ravager bitch and everything'll be okay?" Ozaei asked, looking at Amy. His demeanor was returning, as was a very, very slight smile. "Wait though, Madame made it so I could act on her behalf. We could use that maybe? My name's Dolores too, after all."

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext]Amy frowned. "Yeah, I think so," she nodded. Suddenly her hope seemed silly. Dolores was still super powerful. Even if Ozaei didn't kill her this wouldn't end cleanly. She still couldn't believe the Madame wanted her dead. Maybe they could just talk it out?
Her eyes widened as he mentioned his ability to act on Dolores' behalf. "Oh! Yeah, maybe that could help us!" she grinned. "What does that mean, though?"
"Oh um uh... no one outside the market's actually seen Madame Dolores far's I know," Ozaei began, resting his head in his hand as he sit criss cross. "That's where I come in. The public thinks I'm Madame Dolores get it? Or at least some kinda avatar of her. Even the market's allies. Sooo I can pretty much do whatever the hell I want as long as I go by my middle name. Dolores. Madame Dolores works for the Dark Market. Madame Esmeree runs it."
A pause before his face contorted in frustration occurred, Ozaei mumbling as it did. "Dunno how the fuck she keeps up with all this mumbo jumbo personality stuff. You and her are the brains. I'm just fucking dumb."

[attr=class,Amytextbox][attr=class,Amytext]"Oooooh," Amy said as Ozaei explained. She had forgotten how secretive Madame Dolores was. She had always gotten to speak directly to the Madame whenever she wanted, but that wasn't the case for most people. There were probably some people in the Dark Market that hadn't actually spoken to her.
"I'm not a brain!" Amy objected, crossing her arms over her chest. "I'm a girl! I thought that was obvious, you must be really dumb, not 'just fucking dumb'"
