Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Lorsette, a quiet place, all things considered. Jason tossed his new toy into the air, feeling the heft of the sphere, before launching it through the air, and giving th whistled command for Laika to give chase. The Cybernetic Golem K9 took off, chasing the now flying ball, specially designed to go further, so the animal Golem, first of her kind, could actually give chase. Technomancy was a beautiful thing. For example, you could make a ball for playing fetch, that has rockets timed to make the ball spin faster, and travel further.
He made his way through the business district, eye some of the stores, marking the ones that had clear and obvious, at least to him, security flaws. That was how he spotted the shade looking figure, wearing too many layers of clothes, eyeing a guy who was buying a hotdog from a vendor with a cart. He read the body language, saw the figure was planning a charging attack, and moved without really thinking about it.
He 'tackled' the tiny figure, not realizing exactly how small they, she!? was. He turned the girl around and could only blink when he saw her face. He had never met before. But he felt like he should know her. It took him a few moments to realize he was holding a small girl by the shoulders...to the ground...his defense mechanism kicked in and his face and vocal tones went to their default neutral.
"Wanna maybe explain why you were trying to attack random people on the street?"
Hood up, boots laced and eyes entering the infamous 'eagle mode', Roxanna scowered the business district for a criminal described best as elusive. The bounty entered the Hallow Order's App in the late hours of the evening and when morning rose she greedily accepted the task. As a lycanthrope, her enhanced senses would assist in tracking down the villain who frequented the business district. Silently, she lurked the streets, ruby hues scanning every person who passed her in search of the man who would grant her the most recent bounty.
Hours were poured into searching, verifying and tracking down this man. Fortunately, her gorgeous red hues locked on the bounty, and after casually checking her phone, confirmation was provided. A smile traced her lips, the short brunette following the man. She waited for the opportunity, pouring further time spent in the summer sun awaiting the moment she could take him; it made her thankful for the temperature regulating bracelet around her wrist. When the man approached the hot dog stand and began distracting himself with ordering, it became Roxanna's chance.
The lycanthrope inched forward, preparing herself for a full-blown charge at the criminal. Mentally she noted everything, the passing pedestrians and the location of the Hallow Order specialty handcuffs. Each step was weighted, the woman prepared to start her charge, adjusted her stance and BAM! Fixated in her preparations, somebody managed to sneak up on her, twisting her around. As she fell to the ground, waited by a bearded man, her hood fell from her head, revealing brunette locks and soft, feminine features.
Hands pinned her shoulders by a man who appeared confused about his actions. The bounty huntress ignored him, glancing up to watch her bounty gasp and bolt. He probably believed they were fighting over him! The man's question was greeted with a growl.
"BECAUSE HE'S MY BOUNTY! NOW GET OFF!" She shouted at him.
Everything was already laid on the table the moment the vagrant fled and when she started chasing, her job would become obvious. Displeasure covered her face as Roxanna kicked out, using her enhanced strength to attempt to force the man off her. She needed to track that elusive nuisance down before it was too late! Success in her actions would lead Roxanna into hurrying up and breaking into a full sprint to catch up to her bounty.
Jason felt the push of the kick, and barely managed to land on his feet when he was shoved off by her. He cursed in three languages, vividly, as he realized his mistake. The guy was running already, but...
"Laika. Track." His golem dog would track the guy while he sorted this out. He would have to make amends, and the best way to do that, was to help her with the bounty capture.
"My dog will track the bounty. Explain. Most Bounty Hunters don't attack in broad daylight, at least, not where i am from."
He waited until the implant in his ear gave the chime that told him Laika was following his command. She had not yet caught up with him, but she would know what to look for, since his ocular implants were connected to her visual display.
She despised this idiotic bounty cop! The duties resting atop Roxanna's shoulders hefted with the abrupt interruption to her occupation. Initially, the takedown was designed to be quiet and quick. Tackle him down, slap on the handcuffs and call the Hallow Order for the inevitable pick up. She would have gotten her to pay hasty then perhaps head out to find herself something to eat or drink before checking the app for some new missions. She worked round the clock for as long as payment could be received, she would gladly hunt down the criminal bothering the public.
Yet, as the glorified bounty cop got off of her, he still was not finished. The brunette shot him an annoyed glare, an irritated groan rumbling from her throat. While his mechanical dog was tracking her bounty, she was stuck here, listening to this moronic man. He held the audacity to request an explanation from her because she assumed, he believed he was high and mighty! His entire reason for holding her up was seen as twisted, especially seeing as in her organization, there were a few who worked around the clock. Daylight or darkness, they worked!
"WHY DOES IT MATTER?! I work around the clock and this guy, he's kinda elusive and this is my only chance to find him off of RECENT SIGHTINGS! Now let me do my job, Mr. Bounty Cop!" She snapped at him a little bit, antsy to return to work.
A few people gazed their way, but Roxanna ignored them. Rather, she turned away and began sprinting, slithering through the crowd. She required the opening to enhance her speed and catch the man. Unfortunately, she knew the situation would become more confrontational with him becoming aware she was hunting him. She was prepared for a fight, however, she preferred avoiding it at times.
Jason watched her sprint away without hearing him out. Bounty Cop? that was a new one at least. He glanced around and set off at a steady, but not overly strenuous pace.
Laika was sending him real time updates, and he knew the guy was basically circling back this way, although it looked like he wasnt aware of that fact himself. Ther Ph.D holding bounty hunter made his way to an intersection where the bounty would arrive.
He had zero intention of stealing the girls bounty. He felt a bit guilty actually, at ruining her chance. Laika alerted him to the bounty coming up. Two minutes, Three tops, before the Bounty was right on top of him.
"Laika. Find the Girl. Lead her here."
Laika
Laika paced the target. She still had the intellect of a standard wolf, but since becoming a Golem, her brain had been augmented with a series of high powered computers, allowing her to at least partially understand the majority of speech, making commands easier to follow.
When told to find the girl, she veered left from where she was running along the roof tops. She leaped from building to building, until she eventually found the other bounty hunter. She carefully dropped down, well ahead of the speed augmented individual, her robotic looking form startled a few people, but as she waited for her new target to arrive, she sat, and stood still as a statue.
Her various gears and pistons hissed and whirred, as her internals performed various maintenance diagnostics and self repairs. It had taken time for her adjust to the new body. She remembered what hunger was like, but no longer felt it. Although she was equipped with a functional bio-mechanical digestive system, including taste buds.
When the Bounty Hunter girl arrived at the location, she would find a 12 foot long, 4 foot high at the shoulder, metal wolf, waiting.
Angered was brimming in Roxanna after being held up by the self-righteous jerk who allowed her bounty to escape. Time spent gathering information and finding the elusive prick likely to be wasted from bounty cop's stupid interruption. She hated how somebody felt obliged to cease her movements and stop her from proceeding. Through the people she weaved, dexterous from nature rather than species. Soft gasps left the lips of those she passed, however, the young woman was fixated on the scent her nose followed.
Through her pursuit, Roxanna's eyes remained narrowed, focused entirely on the goal at hand. Find her bounty before he slipped away like the snake he was. The woman was swift on her feet, moving without hesitation as she wildly searched for the criminal. Hastily, her ruby-coloured eyes scanned the area around her, searching for the mysterious man. Being late meant him disappearing without a moment of hesitation! As she moved, a familiar metallic dog stood in her path. Surprise sparkled in her narrowed eyes as she abruptly stopped.
An annoyed growl rumbled from her throat. "Can you not?! I have work to do and don't have time to talk to Bounty Cop!"
The lycanthrope crossed her arms, an vexed huff leaving her lips. These were the types of people who annoyed her most! The ones who could not understand the purpose of her job and created barriers for her to jump.
Laika tilted her mechanical head to the side. Her jaws opened and a speaker within her metal skull issued forth the voice of Jason.
"If you want to catch your bounty, I'd suggest following her. I'm heading him off, but if you arent here in, i'd say about 4 minutes, I will run into him without you. I'm not interested in your bounty kid. I dont hunt the small fry, i hunt the big game. You have your rabbit, and i will stick to the lions, tigers and bears."
Jason knew a bit about psychology. Sometimes baiting a bounty worked better than tracking them. And Most Bounty Hunters, were not fond of having their skills questioned. This little hunter, seemed like she would be rather...put out by his 'small prey' comment.
He wasnt sure why, but he grinned as he teased her. It just felt natural to do so.
Irritated. It was among the only words capable of describing Roxanna's vexation when dealing with bounty cop. The delays on her task were obnoxious and with somebody so elusive, she despised it. The criminal was a smooth talker and a scammer, holding endless charisma. While physical non-threatening, the man proved himself a mental and emotional toll on families in the area. A danger capable of camouflage and plenty able to slip through the cracks and avoid detection. If he escaped now, another person would inevitably fall into the distress of his damned scams.
Yet, here she stood, help up by bounty cop's ridiculous robotic dog. His voice grated against her ears, Roxanna's fists balling as her face scrunched up with annoyance. This guy was taunting her. A wolf-like growl rumbled from her throat, red eyes gleaming with annoyance. Bounty Cop acted high and mighty sending his robotic dog after her and pretending he sat upon the throne of endless knowledge. HE had the AUDACITY to pretend she required his assistance with capturing this bounty when 4 minutes earlier, she would have captured him!
Then to further refer to her prey as a meagre rabbit... Well as a battleshroud she sparingly got her grasps on the higher output missions, she accomplished plenty.
"I WOULD HAVE HAD HIM 4 MINUTES EARLIER IF YOU DIDN'T STOP ME!" She snapped, allowing an annoyed groan to leave her throat. "Fine! FINE! Show me where the hell he is so I don't have to talk to you EVER AGAIN!"
As much as she despised the stupid bounty cop, Roxanna wanted to catch her prey before he slinked away like the snake he was. The lycanthrope held a high moral standing and she would be damned if she decided pride outweighed justice. Thus, she listened, deciding to follow the robotic dog to protect people from becoming future victims.
Jason chuckled, forgetting for a moment he was transmitting. "Laika, Protocol Prometheus. Bring Little Red to me, so she can get her Basket of goodies."
Laika would lead the Lycan to the location the bounty was headed. They would arrive, seconds before the bounty, to find Jason leaning against a wall, chatting with a homeless looking person who appeared dazed, and somewhat confused that a well dressed man in a business suit was talking to him.
Jason really had no interest in the bounty, outside of one thing. He found little information the individual that would indicate he was worthy of a bounty. He wanted the information. He wanted to know this man did to deserve the tiny, but fierce, bounty hunter who was after him.
Determination filled the young lycanthrope's veins as she awaited the opportunity to capture the bastard. There was a scammer she needed to catch, someone she wanted to force off the streets. Bounty cop's comments resulted in an annoyed eyeroll accompanied by a soft groan leaving Roxanna's lips. Nonetheless, the brunette shoved her angers down, instead following the robotic dog. Together, they twisted through the crowds of people at speeds faster than that of an average human. Cutting off the elusive criminal was Roxanna's only chance of successfully capturing him, thus she followed.
As they passed by the surrounding people, Roxanna kept her ears pricked. Every sound flowed through them, her nostrils drinking in scents as she pushed forward. After a short amount of time, they broke through the crowd to where the obnoxious bounty cop spent his time entertaining a homeless man. While the sentiments of the action were sweet, it failed to sway Roxanna's opinion of the dark-haired man. The stranger and his mysterious robotic wolf had interrupted her bounty and if being completely honest, the long-haired woman was still salty about it; not that she would admit it.
Upon her arrival, the woman ducked off to the side, ears pricked and primed. For those few remaining minutes, she waited until her target passed by, attempting to blend back into the crowd. Her lips twisted into a smirk as the lycanthrope strode forward, fingers looping around her handcuffs. From nowhere she sprinted, enhanced speed aiding her as she barrelled into the scammer, bringing him to the ground. The sounds of surprise and shock left his gaped lips as Roxanna, without hesitation, asserted her strength and slithered his wrists into the handcuffs.
She stayed atop him to maintain her pin, delicate ears monitoring his condition. One hand fished a phone from her pocket, the bounty hunter unconcerned with the confused glances of those around her. In a few quick taps, she opened the Hallow Order organization app. Inside the app, she opened her mission to place a call in regards to it, speaking when the line was picked up.
"Christopher Elysium has been captured, send pick up please," the bounty hunter requested.
The wait would not be long, the Hallow Order always prepared to pick up the bounties their workers captured. Therefore, she would be required to keep him grounded for some time. Although, the specialized relaxation handcuffs would undoubtedly render her target without means to put up a proper struggle.
Jason watched her work, smooth, efficient, clean. No excessive force, but not too little either. Impressive actually. He patted the homeless man on the shoulder, slid a couple of medium denomination bills into his hand, and thanked him for his time. Then he slipped over to Mr. Elysium, who was pinned down, but surprisingly docile.
"So. Christopher was?" The tall man crouched down, balancing on his toes. The smile on his face might have seemed friendly, but well, only to someone too stupid to see the cold malice under it. "I couldnt find much on you. You are a very slippery fellow. But the little i did find, well i must say, your poor mother must be sorely disappointed to have raised such a miserable little cretin. I'll give you, say, 2 minutes, to confess to every little...sin, which is about how long you have before the bounty hunters pick you up."
The smile became colder. "You see, you got lucky. This little lady here, shes a LIVE capture hunter. You dont want bounty hunters like me coming for you. See, when they call me in...its because they dont really mind if the bounty comes back...intact."
He clicked the record button on his phone and left the con-artist babbling.
He looked up at the little lycan hunter and gave a wink. Technically speaking, since bounty hunters were not police, the bounty hunter could ask any questions they wanted. It was considered unfair by some. Underhanded.
Jason stood up, turning to Laika as he did so, and removed a small USB drive from a slot in her head. The pick up van rounded the corner as he turned back to the little bounty Hunter.
"Heres the deal. You join me for a bite to eat, showing me a place with good food, that wont rip me off, i give you the confession, so this guy gets booked for sure. To top it off, i'll buy you the meal AND pay you for the information."
Jason was, if nothing else, a fairly honorable individual.
Successfully captured beneath Roxanna was Christopher Elysium. A quivering mess of futile squirming and realizations. With the request for pick up being handed in, the conman's freedom would be limited to potentially mere minutes. Every ticking second brought another onset of panic as the man squirmed, alas, the cuffs were around his wrists and a woman of superior strength above him. Each inch of a movement was greeted with a soft hint of force, nothing painful, but enough to create discomfort.
As the brunette assured her prey would not be escaping, her delicate hearing managed to hear bounty cop sauntering over. The woman's ruby eyes flitted over to him the moment his voice entered her ears. The expression crossing his face summoned suspicion across the whole of Roxanna's countenance. The colder connotations of the stranger's voice and tape recorder brought Roxanna's eyes to a narrow; what game was he playing?! Though valuable information would come of the stranger's methods, the red-eyed lycanthrope maintained weariness of his intentions.
Information was received, stored away on a USB with a wink. Then it arrived, the world's stupidest offer on the lips of the male who nearly thwarted her plans.
"WHAT?!" The words escaped her lips out of impulse. "Why?! You must be nuts!"
The words came out all on an impulse, but before making any agreements, Roxanna wished for the reasons. The woman's ears twitched as distant sounds of a siren could be heard. The Hallow Order transport vehicle for safely handing over criminals to the police. It would arrive shortly and the man would be handed over.
"Well, to start with, I'm new to the area, and the locals tend to know better places to eat. Other than that?" He looked at her, and plopped a hand on top of her head, in an almost condescending way. If he lost the hand, well, he could make a new one. "I just thought you looked a little too uptight, and besides, spending time with a pretty girl isnt exactly torture, and i somehow doubt you'd agree unless i bribed you. Or blackmailed, but well, i only blackmail criminals."
He too heard the sirens now, and looked at Laika. "Laika, Fido Protocol. Look pretty for the nice people."
The Golem Dog shrugged her shoulders, and a holographic image fluttered into existence over her metal body, make her look like a large dog, covered with dark grey and black fur. Dark, because lighter colors would be pretty much transparent.
Aggravated by the so-called bounty hunter's foolishness, a growl rumbled from Roxanna's throat. Bounty cop held the audacity to twist her arm a little bit for a idiotic dinner date! Agreement arrived with the benefit of proof straight from the culprits mouth, though, she would be forced to tolerate his presence longer! The options were laid before her, and with The Hallow Order on route and the usefulness in the confession, Roxanna was stuck. Though it never meant she was expected to enjoy the random occasion.
The criminal ceased his struggling as energy depleted from earlier attempts at escaping the lycanthrope's grip. Though, the feeling of her hand keeping his cuffed limbs against his back was enough of a reminder. This conman required being convicted and a confession straight from his mouth would go bounds to assure the possibility. The brunette bit down on her lower lip, red eyes narrowing into a glare as the stranger explained his reasoning... even having the audacity to pat her head. Her fingers tensed around the chain of the handcuff as she fought every urge to maul the condescending prick.
"Fine," she growled from her lips, voice raked with anger. "But, I have to deal with my company first."
Only moments later would the transportation van of the Hallow Order would carefully roll up through the people. Her face glanced at the van as a pair of individuals exited. Steadily, they took the man from Roxanna's company before requesting a quick report. Narrowly gathering herself, Roxanna moved closer to the back of the van to provide a quick report. Once there, she leaned against the one door as they pulled the guy in.
"I had someone tackle me down and hassle me through it, but I managed to catch him," she began, giving little information. "He tried slipping through the crowds, but was caught later on. And, I will be back at headquarters later with more info."
They nodded, indicating a more thorough report would be detailed with her return to headquarters. While she gathered the evidence, they would confirm his identity, then through e-transfer, Roxanna would reap the fruits of her label. She prayed handing in evidence would give her some extra cash, especially consider who she needed to talk with to receive it. Once finished, she pushed off the door, circling the van and returning to the stranger.
"Before we go out, you have to tell me your name, else I'm not going anywhere with you," she began.
Her irritation was represented in both tone and the manner she crossed her arms. Evidently, she was dissatisfied with the situation, but with the possibility of conviction-worthy evidence existing, options were nonexistent.
Jason watched her work, and couldnt help but chuckle. She reminded him of when he first started out as a cop. All said and done he shrugged at her question.
"Jason Hunter. Technically its Dr. Jason Hunter, but well, i hate formalities. They gave me some honorary Ph.D type deal when i saved Laika here, but I've also got Doctorates in Magical Engineering and the like."
He paused, glanced at his dog and then back at the Lycan.
"She looks like this now, but not long ago, she was a Police K9, made of Flesh and Blood. I made her into a Golem. The First ever Golem made from an Animal Soul. Now then, i told you my name, now you tell me yours."
He wondered if she would look him up, and what her reaction would be to his fame within the medical circles. and the fact he worked as a bounty hunter, despite being quite wealthy from his work in Golem based Prosthetic limbs and organs..
