I'm really not used to this yet. All of these different places that I need to or want to go are so far apart, it just feels surreal. Having lived much of my life in a cramped flat in a well-known city, then coming somewhere where there's, for lack of a better word, space! It just leaves me with a rather strange feeling, but I'm starting to get used to it a little more. That, and... things are just a lot more square here. It's more of an oddity to see different flavors of building shapes, it seems. How unique is that?
Touching the rail as the various stops are called, the world seems to fly by outside. Despite just how separated everything feels, it still feels the same inside what is essentially a giant hollow motor-snake. So, even if there are some things that I'm not quite used to yet about this place, I can say that I feel rather at home in the similarities, at least. Breathing out audibly and thinking back to that map I'd looked at this morning, my destination has been clear from the start- take a train, take a look around the mall. People watch if I have time, but I definitely feel like I want to get a few essentials for my house that I've been putting off. Mainly looking for good flatware and a few soft rugs, but you never know. I'm sure that I'll be able to choose something next month that will really accent everything I'm going for in the house, as well. Oh, by 'something', I'm thinking along the lines of a couch or chair set. When it comes to furniture, I've been spending far less time with most of the furnishings that most individuals would typically like to have in their homes, content to spend time with my kotatsu and a pillow. At least I carpeted one room, a sort of preparation for the many hours that I prefer to spend at work on my newest creations and setting them up around the house.
Yes, yes, my house is full of planters. I promise, all of the living flora gets the sunlight and food that it needs.
The dinging sound of arrival at the closest station set my feet into motion, without a thought as to what I'm going to find in this place. I'm sure that there's going to be something, though. Flipping my ticket from my pocket to scan my way back out of the terminal, my fingers slip by my wallet in a casual reminder that this is, indeed, a big enough city that chaining it to me made a lot of sense. Still, I'm not going to think about being pickpocketed, it's nowhere near as troublesome to me as the thought of attracting that sort of thing to me. I'd rather attract new friends, new experiences. I'd rather learn more and share my love of ikebana with anyone willing to put in the time to learn more about it.
Pulling my jacket around me a little tighter, I know that I'm getting looks for it. It's meant to be a classy look, though, with fabric that's meant to wick away heat and moisture instead of drawing it in. Things aren't always how they look on the outside, I'm sure. Just like this building- while it's clear from the outside just how spacious it is, the moment that I walked in, I never expected to see such a festive atmosphere, with all of the food vendors and even a small food cart carrying different meals for different thirsts and hungers. Stepping up to the cart gives me a small reminder of just how hungry I actually am, and the thought of a cheesy salted pretzel is really appealing right about now. Mmm. First impressions of this mall? I'm impressed.
