Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
[attr="class","wonderBody"]"Are you sure you'll be okay, mom?" Osheen asked her mother with a warm gleam in her eyes. The older woman gave her a strained smile and nod. "Yes, go enjoy yourself," she told her and held out a crinkled twenty dollar bill. Her daughter took it and tucked it away within her pocket before leaving the hospital. When the doors closed behind her she let out a long breath and slumped her shoulders.
She was so happy today and nervous, but mostly happy. This was the first time her mother had taken her on a solo trip to another city to attend one of her appointments. Of course her other siblings were all busy and so she was last to be picked, but Osheen was determined to make this trip successful and that started with not annoying her mother by hanging around her all day while she dealt with doctors.
However, she was sad because she wanted nothing more than to spend time with her mother. The thought caused her features to fade into a solemn look. But she forced a smile and moved away from the hospital. "It's nice that she gave me twenty dollars," Osheen spoke to seemingly no one. She was alone moving down the sidewalk so she felt comfortable speaking to the objects around her.
"I'm not going to spend it though," she spoke as though he were scolding a child as she leaned down towards a bush of flowers. But she was just being playful. "I'll find something free to do and then surprise her with something nice when we go back to the hotel." Osheen explained as she moved forward, but there was an invisible weight within her heart because she wanted to get along with her mom. She wanted this to all work out so badly, but she didn't know how...she had been trying her whole life, but her mother still always acted the same around her.
Lilac eyes lowered to the ground as she stopped walking and stared aimlessly at her shadow. The sound of camera shots caused her gaze to lift towards a section that was within a park area with thick forest trees encasing the surrounding area. It didn't take the young girl long to recognize that it was some kind of model shoot. Curiosity bloomed within her and she instantly crossed the street to get a closer look.
"Wow," she muttered in amazement as she gripped the edge of a tree and watched from afar. She wasn't the only one interested of course and other people paused to watch. Unknown to her was one of the workers had spotted her and come over to speak with her. "Well hello there." The man said and Osheen instantly let out a sound of startled shock, which shocked him since he hadn't really tried to be sneaky. "S-Sorry I get scared easily," she immediately apologized and waved her hands in front of him. He seemed to take the whole thing lightly and let out a laugh. "Not to worry, but hey as a way of saying sorry how about some snacks?" He offered and pointed towards a table filled with a variety of foods.
"Oh no, that's fine thank you," Osheen quickly told him and felt flustered that he felt the need to offer "Now, I'll be hurt if you don't take something we've got a lot and these models never eat anything so it'll all go to waste anyways." He told her and lifted his hand to whisper the 'model insult'. The dusty haired girl opened her mouth to say something but his insistence was quiet...persistent as he pressed at her shoulder and guided her forward. He seemed to want to join her but someone ended up calling out to him and he quickly left.
Osheen immediately sighed in relief as she stood before the table of food. She...wasn't really comfortable taking anything but felt rude just taking off. But the guy was kind of...awkwardly pushy if that made any sense? Was she being too sensitive? Osheen drew her hands up to her stomach and clenched them into nervous fists as she turned to try and see where the guy had gone, but she accidentally bumped into a glass which caused it to spill onto the white cloth.
A muffled sound of dismay left her as she picked it up and and got juice all over her hands. "No...no," she whispered to herself and began hastily trying to clean up her mess with a plethora of napkins.

[attr="class","wonderFoot"]The flowers in the graveyard are all gone I don't belong
Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
The photo shoot had been going smoothly for the most part, everything had been set up by six in the morning and the models arriving for makeup and hair styling thirty minutes after that so everything, and everyone, would be ready in a timely manner. The man who was in charge of the few models that were present for the shoot stood at least ten feet away from the people working on the shoot so they could work without much...interruptions. His arms were crossed as his silver eyes were trained on the models, photographer, and other people who were there to insure that everything went according to plan.
However, his attention moved over to one of the employees seemingly being very pushy towards a complete bystander that had no reason to be there. He was silent as he observed the man bring the girl over to the buffet table before he was called off, his eyes training on the girl now as she knocked a glass over. How graceless.
An irritated sigh escaped the Reaper as he uncrossed his arms and walked over to the buffet table, his presence alone causing the people he came close to, within a ten foot diameter around himself, to grow fearful. Of course it was to be expected seeing as to what he was, but those who had been around him more times previously had less of an effect from his passive ability; they instead would just simply grow uneasy as a sense of discomfort washed over them as he walked close.
When he arrived at the buffet table, he stopped behind the girl with an emotionless face as he slipped a hand into his pocket with his thumb sticking out. "Making quite the mess there, girl." He spoke up in a low voice, looking down at the short girl. Well, short compared to how tall he was since he was practically towering over her.
[attr="class","wonderBody"]Osheen's eyes widened long before the man spoke to her. She felt the fear creeping into her without warning and it caused her to get goosebumps. Her heart lightly pounded within her chest as she stiffened and slowly squeezed her hand down against the napkins for support.
"Making quite the mess there girl," the man spoke, his voice low but unyielding and it took her a moment to turn towards him. She appeared absent minded when she looked to him because she was gauging how to respond. She was petrified of him...someone she had never met...that was his magic...his ability to make those around him scared or was he just focusing on her? Lilac eyes drew to the people around her but they appeared normal.
"I'm...sorry if I made you angry," she told him quietly, but didn't look to his face instead she kept her eyes rooted to his chest. If everyone else appeared normal then he had to have been targeting her because she had made a mess.
'Stop being rude Osheen. You can look him in the eyes...you are not a coward and he hasn't done anything to scare you. Maybe he can't control his powers.' She made excuses in her head and they gave her strength to take in a deep breath and draw her eyes up to him. Osheen offered him a genuine and small smile in hopes to show that her apology was real.
Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
Sven was silent as she apologized, standing where he was as he looked down at her still. As she finally raised her eyes from his chest to his face he released a soft scoff, tilting his chin up slightly. It was honestly typical of the fear that came from the girl due to his passive ability, though it would wear off after a couple of minutes but as to how she actually acted would be not his fault or doing.
"Hm. Most people who are not part of the shoot do not come close to the things set out for the people working..." He spoke out, taking notice of people watching him both from the set and those watching said set. He ignored it of course, since it wasn't really bothering him nor of his concern either. "If that man approaches you again go ahead and call the cops on him. I've already told him to not bother anyone that is not part of the shoot multiple times. The items here on the buffet table are not only for the models." He added after a few moments of silence, shaking his head a little.
He allowed his eyes to scan the table for a brief moment before he reached a hand out and plucked up a muffin by it's wrapping from a plate. He then turned his attention over to the girl once more, offering the muffin to her. "Take this so people won't think you are stealing or get any bright ideas to help themselves to the buffet." He told her, waiting patiently for her to take it before he lowered his hand to his side. "What is your name?" He asked her with a small tilt of his head, not that it was really noticeable.
[attr="class","wonderBody"]Osheen popped a little in place, nothing huge but a tiny start from when he scoffed. She was really on edge because of his fear power and it made her feel kind of down with herself. Why was she always so jumpy? The person didn't even have to be out of sight for her to get startled either, she could just be zoned out and someone makes a noise right in front of her nose and she'd yelp. It hadn't really been too much of a problem in her life, but right now it was standing out like a sore thumb.
The man began speaking then and Osheen's eyes grew wide and attentive. He was very intimidating to look at, he was super tall, dark, with pale like features. He looked like a man who would say very little words, maybe loom in the shadow, but he was surprisingly talkative...and then there was the fact that he seemed to have been eavesdropping on the entire conversation between her and that other worker.
It made her feel pretty stupid for following along so easily which made this guy in front of her have to go out of his way to inform her of the situation. She was wasting his time...he looked important and it made her feel pretty down more than usual. But she supposed that was because of the fear that was mingling in with her emotions. But she forced a smile that was as convincing as the sun and offered her name politely.
"I'm Osheen, sorry we had to meet like this," she told him softly but then grew flustered when she belatedly realized he was holding a muffin out for her. She didn't really like muffins but she took it regardless. However, when their skin briefly touched and she instantly felt the ice cold sensation of it her lilac eyes grew wide in awe as she was given another vital hint to his species. What had fear and was ice cold to touch...vampire? No... Uhh... it was there on the tip of her tongue!
She couldn't ask because it was rude, but then she was just kind of standing there not offering the guy anything. "Thank you for the..." she paused as she glanced down as though she were trying to remember what she had been given. "Muffin," she declared as she held it up somewhat to show she knew what she was talking about.
A faded blush touched her cheeks then as she frowned somewhat feeling pretty stupid with this whole conversation. "What's your name...er...I mean...you are probably busy I shouldn't keep you. Thank you for this. I'm sorry for stupidly following a stranger over here..." she told him with an awkward laugh. But her spirits were somewhat down over this entire situation...a situation she would not be telling her mother.
Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
The man was quiet as he stood there patiently as the girl seemed to remember that he had been holding out the muffin to her, allowing her to take it. Though their skin no doubt brushed against one another from the exchange, Sven did not appear to be bothered, or take notice perhaps, of it. His hand was lowered to his side as he listened to her speak in response to his question. So her name was Osheen...it oddly enough reminded him of the ocean. No doubt due to her name sounding similar to it, at least to him.
His emotionless face remained the same though his eyes grew a degree softer as he took notice of the faded blush touching her cheeks as she spoke next, this time asking him of his name. He turned his head to look towards where the shoot was happening before he turned his attention back over to the girl. "My name is Sven and I'm just a manager for some models here. The only thing I need to do is make sure they behave so to speak." He responded to her, lifting a hand to gently pat the girl's head.
By this point his passive ability to cause fear should have begun to wear off, hopefully allowing the girl some sense of comfort but he wasn't sure. "Just be careful around strangers, timid people like you shouldn't be out wandering by yourself." He added to her, deciding to bend down a bit to get to more her level and, again, to try and ease any fears or unease she might have still.
[attr="class","wonderBody"]The guy's features were a blank slate with no real emotions that she could see. It made it really hard for Osheen to read what he was thinking. Still he answered her in a tone that could be considered bored especially since she had no idea what he was feeling. "Svvvveeen..." she repeated the name quietly to herself as though she were trying to get a feel for it. It was a pretty cool name and one she'd never heard before.
However, her thoughts were abruptly halted when the tall giant reached down to pat her atop her head. Large lilac eyes lifted to him and her heart started taking off because it was beyond embarrassing. He...he must have looked at her like a kid or something which made sense since most people presumed she was younger than she was.
The fear had faded, but Osheen actually hadn't even noticed yet. She was so wrapped up in her whirling thoughts that she couldn't slow down to take note of what her body was doing. The contact of his cold hand felt nice atop her head though which was surprising, but she imagined prolonged contact would probably become uncomfortable. "Just be careful around strangers," the guy began to tell her and then lowered down to be more at her level which only made her feel even more that he was treating her like a child! But to be honest she didn't mind and would much rather than then being flirted with. She smiled warmly at him and gave a light nod.
"Thanks you're really sweet," she replied to him and decided to get him back a little by reaching out and patting his head. Why not! He had done it to her, but as soon as she did it she immediately regretted it. She had a bad habit of getting too comfortable with people too fast and it did her no favors.
"But um!" She piped up as she jerked her hand back and tried to direct her attention onto something else. In the end she started eating her muffin. "A manager sounds important," she supplied excitedly and luckily prettily easily distracted herself from her most recent actions.
"I've never met a manager before." She continued yakking away. "Do you have powers to do that or--" Osheen's eyes grew wide when she realized she fumbled out something she hadn't meant to say. "I mean I... well I feel fear...or I felt it...and...I was probably just imagining things?" She continued questioning herself despite being pretty sure he had some kind of fear ability.
Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
Sven did not move as the girl reached a hand out to pat his head, calling him sweet as well. He soft breath of amusement escaped him as he withdrew his hand from her head and placed it on his knee as she spoke next. He listened patiently to her words, allowing her talk away until she asked her question of him. He was silent as he allowed his eyes to train on her face, soon straightening up and letting his hand slip into his pocket once more.
The Reaper turned his head to look at the shoot going on, some of the models getting a break while others were being photographed. "I have something that does cause the fear. It's completely passive for me so I cannot turn it on or off." He explained to her a little, pausing to observe what was going on for a few moments before he turned his attention back over to Osheen. She really was rather adorable, but he wouldn't let himself show what he thought.
"I am something that should be feared for the most part, but do take care in knowing I only go after those that have done horrible deeds." He told her, lifting his free hand to about being level with her chest with his palm up. With a bit of focus a moth materialized in the middle of it, shifting its wings a little. After a few moments the moth took flight and hovered around a bit before landing on the girl's shoulder. "It's harmless, so don't worry. I'll tell you a little secret... I like moths the most." He spoke to her, lowering his voice slightly as he leaned down a little to offer her a sliver of a smile that faded just as quickly. What a lucky girl she was to earn such a thing from him.
[attr="class","wonderBody2"]"I have something that does cause the fear," Sven told her as he glanced blankly towards the model shoot. Osheen followed his gaze curiously, but did listen as he told her that he couldn't control it. Her features strained with a soft sadness as she looked to him...and felt bad that he accidentally scared people. He wasn't scary though, he was really sweet and the thought caused her to smile. She was glad she gave him a chance because he deserved to be seen regardless of the fear he caused.
"Oh," she supplied sheepishly when the taller male told her that he was something to be feared. But then she gave him a cheeky grin when he said that he only went after bad guys. "Well I think your noble," she declared boldly. "We need more people like you." She gave a nod, but her smile faded when she thought about the evil in the world. There was a lot of it...everywhere... It was never like the movies or books, good didn't triumph...but that only made her more determined to brighten the lives of others. Which could be considered childish, but she didn't care.
A soft gasp left her when she saw that the guy had made a moth or called a moth or something! It was just hidden there in his hand and she couldn't believe it. Though her heart did jolt with fear when she saw the tiny creature because moths were a lot scarier looking than butterflies, but something about his secret warmed her heart. Butterflies were loved because of their beauty but moths were hated. She had never thought of that before and it made her sad that she had been someone who liked butterflies more than moths.
It made her feel determined to be better then that, and when she looked back to Sven she caught a brief smile on his lips. The sight made her tense with excitement and she felt more than rewarded with getting him to show some of his emotions. "I like moths too," she stated rather firmly.
Her cheeks soon darkened and she felt a flourish of fondness cradle her heart. She'd be happy with being a moth...with being seen beyond outward appearances. "I'm really happy I met you Sven," she told him as she glanced back up at him and gave another grin.
Easy to find what's wrong, harder to find what's right.
Her reaction and words in response to his own truly was something. A soft breath escaped him as he straightened up, giving her a small nod in approval. "Then I am glad to have met you, Osheen." He responded, turning his attention away briefly to check on the shoot as models were switching places. It was boring for the most part but it was something he could do in his passing time while he was not doing a job for...other things. That and someone needed to beat some sense into those spoiled models.
He turned his piercing, silver eyes back towards the girl and reached a finger out to the moth on her shoulder, letting it crawl onto his finger before he held it up before her face about a foot or so away. "We will need to part soon eventually." He told her as he trained his eyes on her face as he allowed the moth to rest on the tip of his finger. "You may not see me again, but if you ever see a moth...think about this encounter. You never know if I'll be nearby." He added after a moment, allowing the moth to remain on his finger for a minute longer before he allowed it to dissipate. After that he lowered his hand and reached into his pocket, pulling out a thin wallet and then a pen from a different pocket as he pulled a card, a business card by the looks of it, from his wallet and flipped it over to write down a different number on the back of it. After that he put his wallet away as well as the pen and showed the girl the card.
"This is my business card. The number printed on the front is one of mine...business hours I suppose. Though the one I placed on the back is for all hours. If you need anything at all...call me. I'm not just a manager for models, so if you're ever in need of someone to talk to or for help you can contact me." He informed her as he handed the card to her. He didn't know why he was doing that, but it just...felt right for some reason. He lowered his hand to his side once more, simply hooking his thumb into his pocket a little for the time being.
[attr="class","wonderBody2"]Osheen couldn't help but admire the man before her. She could feel the fear in her chest still, but it didn't stop her from enjoying his company. Lilac eyes follow his towards the models and seeing them in all their spectacular glory made her wonder briefly why he was taking the time to talk to her. But then he didn't seem much interested in his job. Maybe he was desensitized to it. She certainly had no clue about modeling...only that she secretly wished she could do it.
"We will need to part soon eventually," he told her and something about what he said or the way he said it made her sad. But she grew distracted by the moth when he brought it close to her face. She tensed holding her breath, but forced herself to keep her eyes on the creature attentively. T-The wings were beautiful, but the body is what got to her! Even butterflies could be the same way.
"I will," she suddenly expressed with boldness again, promising to think of him whenever she saw a moth. He certainly made it sound cool, and she wondered if they would ever meet again. It was a nice thought, but she wasn't actually dumb enough to believe it.
When he wrote down his personal number for her she felt her eyes burn a little with emotion because it was such a kind thing to do. "Thank you," she told him, as she took the card and stared down at it, looking at his writing and then the front.
She wanted to give him her number in return, but real life wasn't that easy...especially when dealing with men. It was dangerous for a girl to be so transparent especially one without any power. The thought made her sad, but she kept her emotions from showing.
"I really appreciate it," she told him softly, but did pause when she heard one of the workers asking for the time. "...I should get back, my mother is probably worried. Thank you for the lovely conversation though, it was really cool to meet you," she told him warmly and felt the temptation to hug him, but that was far too embarrassing.
"Good bye, Sven!" She told him with a new energy as she took her leave and waved. He had made her day less lonely and despite some of her darker thoughts she was happy peering down at his card with affection.
